With the pandemic I knew I wouldn't be going to our gym anytime soon. Our couch was getting a nice "Annette" sized divot and my joints were getting stiff. I needed to start moving again. I'm not big on running outdoors so I cleaned up the basement and began my research on treadmills. Eventually I found a good, mid priced folding treadmill (Sole F80) that they carry at Dick's and waited patiently for one to come in stock somewhere in my area (treadmills are understandably hard to come by these days!). You can set it up to be notified if one comes in stock at a set location. It I was open to picking up anywhere in the Metro so I just checked every morning on their website. Eventually after a week, one ended up at this location in Canton and I made the purchase! It wasn't available for delivery but curbside pick up was an option. After some measuring I realized our Escape was not big enough for this but luckily my aunt's SUV could make it work. So we headed over together to make the pick up. Curbside is easy--pull up, call them to let them know you're here. They check your ID and purchase email with a large item like this. Then two dudes came out and, after much hard labor, got this massive box into our car. So major snaps for the heavy lifting they have to do on the regular for purchases like these! On our way home I started to sweat thinking about getting it into OUR house alone, and wished they had offered the delivery/assembly option, but luckily with the help of family (and our unsuspecting neighbor who got roped in by being in the wrong place at the wrong time!) we got it down stairs. Putting it together was super easy and I was able to do it alone. I still wish they offered assistance tho, I was so worried someone would get hurt moving this 300lb beast down the stairs! But that's the only criticism I have about the experience. In the end the treadmill is great. It's a fantastic build and Dick's had it at the manufacturer's price. No additional fees for curbside pick up either. I got two weeks of getting back to shape on it before twisting my ankle walking to my car today, haha! But I look forward to getting back on it as soon as I'm healed. Highly recommend purchasing an equipment piece from Dick's. But make sure you can accommodate pick up and moving should delivery not be available in your area. read more

The police were called on me in racial profiling incident that was disgusting and saddening. My husband and I went to this location to return/exchange items bought online during black Friday sales. We walked in, he went one way I went another. The only difference was, I was followed, questioned and harassed by employees and the store manager Bob. I had my 5week old with me who began crying. I decided to wait in the car but was followed outside by the manager who began taking photos of me, the car and my license plate. My husband confronted the manager who denied everything. We drove off and arrived home to 4 police cars waiting. They asked us to get out of the car and said that Dicks employees had reported I had stolen my own items. After talking to the police and showing the packing slips for everything, they realized I had done nothing wrong. Not once did anyone at Dick's ask me for a receipt. They saw me, assumed I had stolen the items (which were in a box) and called the police. They followed me around and clearly now was trying to keep in the store by asking me questions until the cops arrived. I was completely embarrassed and shaken by the whole incident. My kids were in the car. And my whole neighborhood saw the cops pull us out of the car, questioning us. What if my husband wasn't there, what if there had been a trigger happy cop, what if ...anything could have happened. This has to stop! read more

We needed a new baseball glove for the hubs. We swung in here and had no issues. I love a place that you can do veni vidi vici style. Come in, find your own item easily, check out without hassles and get the f out of Dodge. This is that kind of place. Prices weren't uber cheap but neither were they outrageous. Selection was good. We were offered help but not hard sold or pushed. Everything was pleasant and we would gladly return. read more

I originally went to the Westland Dick's location looking at the Tigers hats. The customer service agent checked the inventory for me, and informed me that the Canton location had the size I needed. After heading to said Canton store, I went to look for the product, and was unable to find it. I found a customer sales agent that would be able to assist me in locating this, especially after making the trek to the store. The woman who "helped" me was rude initially and stated "what's on the floor is all we have," after I explained that a previous salesperson checked the inventory for me. She then looked through the display on the floor without uttering a word to me, and dashed off to the warehouse and made a display of looking for the product. She really was merely standing by a different display, glanced in my direction, and never came back to inform me of her findings, or lack thereof. The customer assistance at the Westland location was world's apart from this store, and I would gladly make the trek further out of my way for the support and aide I received there. If I could rate the Canton store lower than one star, believe me, I would. read more

Store was clean. Workers were also nice and asked if I needed help. I was looking for a new gym bag but they were all stored above my head and cost more than the mall. I couldn't reach them. Also I couldn't find one plus sized workout clothing item. Note to Dick's, people who wear over the size XL also workout and most importantly to a business, have money to spend like everyone else. read more

Nice neat store that has all your sportting needs. The store neat and clean. This store is kind of expensive in comparison to comparable sporting good stores locally but if you know what you're looking for it's very convenient. I have been here during Black Friday and I found shoes that were on sale at this location priced $20 higher,than a competitor location (Lebron Solider 11). The customer service I have noticed is very spotty, at times it seems like the employees don't like being there. They do however have a great hunting section, there is never a person there I always have to call someone. Some of the prices are very reasonable from a firearm, hunting accessories perspective, and golf. Their rewards program is for people that shop here often. I'll be back its convenient. read more

If I could give the Canton location a 0 or negative number, I would. I purchased a fishing rod with warranty on August 23rd (for my husband's birthday) at the Northville location. I was told, very clearly, it could be returned within 60 days if unsatisfied. My husband tried it out and quickly decided he would prefer a shorter pole. On August 27th, I called the Canton location to ask about a return and was told by two staff that they did not accept returns on used products. Both staff were unaccomodating bordering on rude. So, I read the back of my receipt AND the online policy. No where did it state that fishing rods could not be returned once used. I stated such and asked to speak to the manager. Once she got on the phone I proceeded to explain the situation. Almost immediately, she accused me of yelling at her. I told her that was not the case, that she was on speaker phone. She continued to say I was yelling. At this point, I told her I was done speaking to her and that I wanted her name and position, I repeated the request multiple times (all the while, not yelling). She refused my multiple requests, stating they do not share this information (although they wear name tags, kinda confusing). Again, I repeated that I was done and commented that I would just contact corporate regarding the refusal and I assured her they would know her name. All of a sudden, she decided that she would now be willing to return the pole. I let her know that I was not interested and hung up the phone. Not satisfied, my husband and I had to drive to the store in order to get her name. At 8:30 in the evening, we walked into the store and asked one of the cashiers for the name of the manager on duty. She pointed to ELLEN the OPERATIONS MANAGER (clearly displayed on her name tag), stating that she was the manager. ELLEN the OPERATIONS MANAGER then stated that SHE had called corporate already regarding our conversation and requested to speak to us in the back. We declined the invitation, as we only went to the store to get the information she refused to share over the phone. Needless to say, I will not return to this location again, and will suggest the same to all I encounter. I will happily take my business to the Northville location where the focus on customer service is apparent. We will return the pole there and I am quite sure that we will have no problems. read more

I like this store but man is it expensive! And never has good coupons. Usually there is some disclaimer if you actually find a coupon that it is not good on pretty much anything decent. They carry Nike pro shorts though so I went in and bought them. And paid too much. read more

Very clean, organized store. Fully stocked with many specialty departments to choose from. In for some shooters ear protection and found very quickly with the help of an associate who pointed me in the right direction. No issues at checkout very fast visit with all the help I needed from the staff. read more

My wife and I made a rather expensive purchase of a canoe for $500, and the whole process seemed very awkward and unorganized. It made me believe that the workers there didn't really know what they were doing. They do a thing called "web special orders" for items that normally aren't in stock, such as a 14 1/2-foot canoe listed on their website, and the items are shipped to the store to save shipping costs. One worker told me of the process but didn't know how to do the transaction. The manager was called, and it took her another 20 minutes to stare at the computer. Then, when I went to pay, the cashier didn't know what to do. I was told 2-3 weeks before my item would be at the store for me to pick up, and I would be called. I went there after 4 weeks, and two more workers didn't know how to look up my order status. After almost an hour, another worker said, "Oh wait, your canoe is here." It was hanging against the wall among the rest of the stock. My canoe sat on the floor for another hour while I waited for several workers to figure out how to complete the transaction so I could carry the canoe out. The whole process made me think that no one in the store ever completed a web special order. I know this probably isn't specific to their store, but every item we saw in stock at the store was available for a lower price through other websites, such as Amazon or even Walmart. For example, they wanted $50 for a one-sided canoe/kayak oar, and we found the identical one online somewhere else for $10. Their fishing items are also ridiculously expensive for things you can get for pennies at a regular bait shop. We only got the canoe here because it was marked as $100 off on sale. read more

Today I made a decision to never go back to the Canton store. I have been way too many times and every time the workers follow me around the store like I am about to steal something... and I am a business owner and probably make more a year then the whole worker staff combined on both shifts. What they do is talk on a little mic in the ear to the other workers and the next thing you know 5 of them is in the area acting like they are arranging things so they can watch you. I tried to even be friendly with them, and the look they give you is cold. I will be going elsewhere. The store is way overpriced anyway. read more

We just made an oath in the parking lot to come to this Dick's for all our sporting goods, from now on, forever. The store is clean, bright, well organized, and fully stocked. And, we were so impressed by the service especially. Tony in footwear was excellent. Top notch. Phenomenal. He expertly fitted four of us for running shoes and guided us to selections in our price range. Tony was patient and genuinely cared about his job and his customers. Other families came in for shoe help and he handled them all in stride [pun intended]. I have not come across this level of service in I don't know how long. Sounds silly, but we were blown away. My teenage boys even commented, with as much excitement that a 13-year-old can muster up, "That guy was really good." Furthermore, Stephanie at the registers was friendly and welcoming. She asked us if we had a Score Card, and looked up our number for us. She without hesitation accepted all 3 of my coupons. I was expecting a hassle and a complicated splitting of transactions, but I received a surprising, "Sure! No problem." Seems like it should be a no-brainer, but other stores don't make things go so smoothly. Whatever the team and management are doing at this Dick's location in Canton, at Michigan Avenue & Beck... 04/30/2016. First wanted to state the employees helping in the departments and at the cash register were extremely helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. Unfortunately had a very uncomfortable and inappropriate encounter today with an employee who appeared and represented themselves as management during the check out process. My husband and myself made two separate transactions as I was buying a gift and wanted a separate receipt. As he was paying for his purchase, I went to another cashier who may have been in training. I mentioned I had a $10 coupon. The woman in management proceeded to harshly state that they don't accept that coupon. When asked for further explanation as my husband used one previously (on his phone) she yelled across the room at the other cashier that it was told "over and over again" to employees to not accept. Then stared at me and the other cashier across the aisle and loudly stated "people get fired" over this. NOT ACCEPTABLE way to manage or treat employees this way especially in front a line of customers. Side conversation- perhaps. Simple polite explanation that this store does not honor a coupon with their logo ( how is customer supposed to know?) totally fine. It was $10 off, I would have purchased and made note of their policy. Now I will be returning the items and hope she understands that rudely barking out orders reflects badly on her and ultimately the store. Respect and kindness goes along way. Sorry to the guy working the register. I wish treatment of humans outweighed the importance of a few dollars.
