This store might look like a solid sporting goods shop on the surface.. it's got a wide selection of gear for most activities ranging from corn hole to gold to even cloud-of-dust football, but dig a little deeper and the problems show fast. First off, the staff.. Friendly enough, but they don't know what they're selling in some cases and the green ones just aren't trained properly. Ask a question about a specific item, and you'll, at-times, get a shrug, a guess, or a gentle push toward buying something they think might work. Other times, you'll get a jbiwkedgavbke individual who can be friendly. On one end, It's the kind of customer service that leaves you doubting your purchase the second you walk out; while on the other, you'll be happy enough. All is good enough to fit the norm and I would give it a high rating, but what really turned my head the other way, though, is the direction this store is heading. They quietly got rid of their firearms section, clearly as a political move to appeal to the mainstream. That might earn them points in certain circles, but let's be honest, sportsmen don't follow woke trends, and we don't check our rights at the door just to make people feel comfortable. If a true sporting goods store doesn't stand behind all aspects of the outdoor and sporting lifestyle, then what are they really selling? Bought a pair of 200 .00 sneakers took them back to the store after wearing them for 3 moths they had a small hole in the side of my left snesker assistant store manager told me I don't care how long you had them we don't take sneakers back. I thought he was trying to bully me because I am an old man. I told him I will be back, and he can talk to my 4 boys. There were female employees there they all said they are sorry. I can't with the name. I'm sorry, I resort to infantile projection of all things stupid and childish when I see the name. I had to unsubscribe from the emails because seeing the name pop into my mailbox nearly daily made me shudder. Nonetheless, if you need sporting good, I guess come here. I found the staff to be somewhat helpful, though I had questions about some snorkeling gear that I couldn't get much info on. Rolled into this place against my own better judgment. Rolled to the counters 1 cashier doing his very best while 3 of his coworkers stood nearby joking about how they don't need to do anything at the moment. Scanned my kids hockey stick which had a simple $19.99 sticker on it. When the total came up I questioned it. A $5 increase was apparent. The girl working the register did her best but clearly answered to a different authority. The white dude 2 years older than her was clearly in charge. He came back to say "it's $24.99" after making me wait 5 minutes. I passed ok buying the stick, as I can get it for the advertised $19.99 delivered from Amazon and don't subscribe to waiting $5 for no good reason This place is awful. Do not bother going there unless it is absolutely very last minute and you are OK with watching teenagers leverage their collective power on unwitting buyers. There's very little in stock. Big open space with no shelves or merchandise and empty shelves. I need 26" tubes, tire levers and chain lubricant, which I used to buy off the shelf without trouble even at general stores like Target. I can't find any of that. Home gym is empty. I see plenty of clothes that don't interest me, as always. If you need a Nike shirt, this might be your place. read more

Dick's is fine if you want to buy basic athletic supplies but I recommend staying away from their bike department if you are looking for any sort of post-buy support and maintenance. My husband and I purchased our bikes back in 2012, and also invested in the 2-year tune up plan. While we didn't have issues with our 2013 tuneup, the 2014 tuneup proved to be rather frustrating. The bikes were dropped off on a Friday afternoon and we were told they couldn't start working on them for a least a week because the bike tech was scheduled to be on vacation. They have at least two bike techs on staff so I'm not really sure why they couldn't figure out to have another person who wasn't on vacation service the bikes. We asked for the service of the other technicians and they agreed they could have our bikes done before the next weekend. It ended up that our bikes needed chain replacements and the parts needed to be ordered. This pushed our time frame back to the end of the week. My husband spent a lot of time on the phone with Dick's trying to get an updated time frame. Many phone calls later, we were finally assured that our bikes would be ready by the weekend. We went in on Saturday morning to pick up the bikes and it took a good 10-15 minutes to track down someone in the bike department. We had to make a special request from the extremely disinterested staffer for our tires to be pumped. Who knew that wouldn't be included in our tuneup? I also had a few questions about extra secure bike locks. The staffer opened the package and attempted to make the lock work with my bike. My current lock isn't the greatest and I'm looking for a new one so I can ride my bike around Philly. I had questions about the security of the lock and he just didn't understand my question as he continued to show me how to lock it around my wheel. That's all fine and good...if I'd like my bike stolen. So moral of the story, Dick's isn't the place to go if you are looking for any sort of biking expertise or quick service. Dick's is a decent place to get some your basic athletic gear - technical clothing, accessories, maybe some very basic equipment. There's usually a couple clearance racks you can hit up for cheaper stuff, and if you're lucky you'll find something in not a weird print and in your size. Unfortunately, my preferred brand for running clothes (Under Armour) is rarely found in my size on the clearance rack, but sometimes I get lucky and catch a rare sale in that brand. I would not buy something as technical and specific as running shoes here to begin with, but this instinct of mine was confirmed when I accompanied my husband looking for running shoes, and the sales kid informed my husband, without even watching him walk, that he clearly had a neutral foot, because if he had an over-pronation or supination he'd "have major medical problems and would be at the doctor all the time." Low and behold when he was properly fit at a real running store, we learned he over-pronates and needs a support shoe. Regardless, Dick's also didn't carry wide shoes, which he needs. I also wouldn't go to Dick's for anything else high-end or technical, preferring to go to a specialty shop. But again, for convenience of buying the most basic of fitness gear, Dick's is fine. read more

I've had two positive experiences at Dick's. Last year, I noticed the weight set I found in store was on sale, but website only. I was promptly offered the online price, which was a sizeable discount. Yesterday, I picked up a large online order. I was promptly met, and my item was ready to take home in minutes. They even brought it out to my car. Took one star off because while they frequently have sales, much of their clothing still feels vastly overpriced. Selection for most activities is appropriate. Every experience I've had at this location has been positive. I live a 5 mins from another location and by far like cherry hill more. The associates are very helpful. And knowledgeable, if they the don't know the information they will find someone who does have the answers. I recently visited for a new fitbit..the associate took the time to help me size appropriately. And even went out of the way to find a color I wanted in another cabinet other then the display cabinet. I had a coupon and thw girl who rang my up gave me another to use also.. a 150.00 item went down to 117.00.. Such a different experience then my local store. Extremely poor customer service, which I am becoming used to in retail establishments, unfortunately. Called to see if an item was in stock. Was on hold/hung up on for over 25 minutes. Hold music is extremely loud and makes you more angry while waiting. And waiting. and waiting. And waiting. When I told the employee that I was hung up on, I received no apology. Then on hold again. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Finally....25 minutes later I got a person that at least sounded somewhat intelligent and was told that the item is not in stock. Don't waste your time here. Dick's is usually the last place I go for gear & sporty clothes. It is a huge store with a lot of stuff and from time to time they have really great sales. That said, I find the lack of employees bothersome. If you need something and can't find it on your own, you are pretty much out of luck. There is never anyone on the sales floor. The person in Golf World can't leave their station and they usually say they only do golf anyway. The person in the shoe department is usually alone and can't leave the shoe department. The cashiers are few and there is always a line. Im giving them three stars because they do carry a ton of stuff, but it is self service only. Noone is going to go see if there are additional sizes in the back and if you need help reaching something from one of the high shelves, you had better learn to use 'the Force' because other than that, you're not going to be able to get it down. read more

Went in to purchase a 22 rifle to take plinking. Was told that they can't sell it to me because my firearms purchase I'd doesn't say Jr and my license does. Said it's company policy. Problem there is that the application for the purchase ID card does have a place for suffix. So if you're a junior or senior or anything your ID is invalid according to Dicks. They might want to change your policies because they are stupid and are costing them business. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service, and that was just on the phone. I did not even make it into the store based on the lack of customer service received after calling this location. I was on hold for 12 minutes to ask a very simple question. I only wanted to see if something was in stock...so I could avoid an unnecessary 40 minute drive. Btw...after being on hold for 12 minutes, the phone suddenly disconnected. I did not have the patience to call back again. read more

I go here to buy fishing gear occasionally and am usually pleased by their selection but the customer support with fishing gear is not that good. The few times I bothered asking for assistance I was either met with a general lack of knowledge (fishing wader size selection) or an attitude (fishing line re-spooling). Yes, I understand that monofilament backing may not be the universally preferred method for re-spooling with braided line but maybe I'm not fighting fish that are stripping 300 yards of braid off my reel so it doesn't really matter? Yes, I understand that the spool I am handing you does not have enough line on it. Maybe that's why I am in the store asking you to re-spool it? read more
