I had an excellent experience here. I was planning for a backpacking trip over the weekend and was not planning for rain. We ran here right before we left looking for ponchos and rain jackets and after scourging for a poncho in the camping section an employee who must have been the manager comes and not only helps us find the ponchos also found us a great deal on rain jackets. Instead of wasting an extra 20 minutes looking for what we had already passed (the ponchos were by the door) we were out the door in no time saving over 50$ than we would've on our own! Great store. I wanted to come check out this place because iv never been in one. As I am a sport freak and avid fish angler. I came in to look for fishing gear and possibly purchase a new bait caster reel. BUT there are none, I asked the manager what is a SPORTING GOODS store if they don't have fishing equipment. There are plenty of lakes near the area I just don't understand. He then told me there's going to be a dicks opening up in point Loma that will be selling some fishing gear, and this helps me now how? This is a huge store by the way may have other good stuff but this was HUGE let down. read more

I recently went shopping here at Dick's to grab some workout attire, predominantly basketball gear. My girlfriend and I came to the El Cajon location at the mall. I arrived around 9:10pm and they close at 9:30pm. They didn't greet us when we walked in and said hi how are you. Also, At or around 9:15-9:20pm they had two particular workers almost following us around the store, not directly but indirectly, I guess to make sure we weren't taking anything and to just be flat out annoying. One lady in particular kept announcing on the intercom that they will be closing at 9:30pm and to bring all of your stuff up to the front so they can ring you up. No joke - at 9:20pm, one of the ladies came up to us and said we're closing soon please bring your stuff to the front. At that point, I was so irritated, because here I am trying to shop in peace and spend some money in your store and you're just being flat out a pest and annoying, simply rushing us out of the store. I'm the type of person who likes to shop in peace and not be rushed, otherwise I'm not going to have a good experience there. So I ended up getting everything needed At spent $150. We left at 9:30pm. I personally, love all of the apparel that Dick's Sporting Goods has, its always fresh and new, but it is a little pricy. I found a couple of items that were on sale, but the majority of the apparel was not on sale. It was all full price and not cheap. I bought all Nike gear and ended up with 5 different items for almost $150. They have great gear and pretty much anything you need in the sports or workout world, but their customer service was awful. I don't want to come here again, unless it's during early business hours! It was kind of my fault for coming in the last 30 minutes they were opened, but at the same time it's their job to be there until the last customer is in the store and not have an attitude about it or rush them out the store. Will never send my hard earned money here again! Ordered something from Andrew at the on line order desk in the golf section because they didn't have what I wanted in stock. So Andrew totally screws up my order! I check my credit card a couple days later and Andrew ordered my stuff twice. Only wanted one. So I get one of the two orders today, and its wrong. The other order is lost in limbo, because Andrew put in the incorrect address for the second order that I didn't want in the first place. I called to talk to the manager, and he had a huge attitude as if I made the mistakes. Bogus!!! Enough said....... read more

I have purchased three items from this Dicks store and all three have broken almost immediately. I bought a bike tube that failed after 10 minutes, a helmet (whose clip broke after 3 rides,) and sunglasses that I wore twice before they broke. I very rarely return products but I felt I had been cheated out of my money, so I decided to go back. When I talked to the girl behind the desk, she was rude and not helpful at all. She continued to be rude, until I decided to tell everyone in the checkout line how bad the product quality is at this store. Then, suddenly, I was able to return my glasses for a new pair. The new pair broke that day. Today, I am going back to demand a third pair. I will continue to do this until the manager returns my money. read more

The guys in the shoe department were great... so I bet you are wondering why the 2 star rating... As a shopper it annoys me to see lights on indicating 2 registers are open and only 1 of the 3 people behind the counter actually working. Also your credit card pin pads are not wheelchair accessible... now im sure you are wondering "why would someone in a wheelchair be in a sporting goods store?" Maybe because they wear shoes too?!? The pin pads are created to be adjustable... so maybe they should be left that way instead of tightened down so much they dont move.... read more

Awesome service. I came looking for the new mako and I could not found it anywhere. Luke from the area of golf saw me looking around and he ask me if he could help me. I ask Luke that I was looking for the new mako, he told me that he wasn't sure because it was not his area but he would found out for me. Luke told me that they still did not had it in stock, wasn't sure when they where going to get it but that he could help me pre-order the bat. He told me to follow him to his area where he work and he spend the time to go online and show me all the bats and he help me with the order. Great experience, great customer service from Luke. I walked in the store to find no employees working. It took me 10 minutes to just find someone to help me. I was purchasing a pig pong table and it took them 30 minutes to bring one out from their stock room. The guys carrying the pig pong table were complaining while bringing it out. This place has everything you need for sports goods. What's great is that they have up to date newest releases from all brands. There are things in here that I couldn't find In multiple sports authorities and big 5's. Customer service was great. Only drawback is that it's located downstairs from Crunch gym so you here weights dropping constantly and it gets pretty loud and annoying. Other then that, 4 stars! read more

Cashier Katelynn was rude! This was one of the worst customer service experiences that we had in some time. She wasn't friendly at all. She had no eye contact and felt that she was shaming us for trying to use a $10.00 coupon trying to save a few bucks. My wife and I had the same reaction after we left the store. We are not going back there again! I usually don't like to leave bad reviews but my hope is that her manager would read this and be aware of his/her employee's performance so that future customers can leave the store with a big smile rather than a "I'm not going back there again" feeling like we did tonight! read more

There's a young man that work at this Dick's Sporting Good named Deandre. I watch this deal with the most difficult customer the other day and handle it with a smile. This woman was the worst that he had to help. She throw a racial slur at him and spit at him. I'm honestly impressed he didn't become stop helping her or snap. I attempted to exchange a pair of shoes at the El Cajon, CA location today, after being assured by your associates, when I purchased them, that I could return them if they didn't fit properly. I returned to the store, after my son wore the shoes to school, once, & complained of his toes cramping at the end. I was treated fairly by the shoe dept associates & they traded the shoes out. Only after I returned to the front, did I get conflicting word from the cashier & manager, in regards to your shoe return policy, that they could not provide to me in writing. I can understand not wanting to return shoes that might've been worn to school once, but give your associates the same info, so the customers aren't leaving with contradictory information. Additionally, I'd recommend putting something in writing, about your shoe return policy, in the store, & on the website that can be understood. I've purchased 5 pairs of shoes, in the past 3 days, as well as, baseball pants, socks, shirts, bats, & other athletic gear for my twin boys. It's probably my last, from this location, due to the abundance of sporting goods stores in my area, without contradictory policies. Thank you read more

They have pretty much any type of sporting clothing you could want, but in the way of sporting goods I was a bit disappointed. They did carry some limited camping equipment, golfing, lacrosse, etc. However they didnt carry very much of those and did not carry any fishing or hunting equipment. I would say 80% clothes and 20% everything else. We went across the street to the Big 5 to get our fishing gear. But if your looking for a new pair of running pants this is the place. read more

Frustrated customer because i entered the store thru parkway plaza mall and walked by an open register, shopped for 20 minutes and headed back towards mall exit to use the register i had just walked by only to find out they had closed that register and i had to go to the main registers now, ok whatever but when i get to the main registers they are 5-6 people deep in line, two open registers and one of them was taking care of a problem customer so now we have one functioning register, line is now 6-7 deep.... Why on gods earth would you shut down an open register to only create a problem at the main register... The acting managers on duty making those decisions at the time were Emily and Bella... It doesnt matter if someone needed a break or whatever the reasons are, the customer should not have to wait like that... And i feel the on duty managers made dumb decisions to close the only other register... read more

Everything here is super expensive. Walked in nobody greeted me, there was two cashiers standing there talking to each other. walk around a bit to see what they have, not one employee acknowledged me( I walked by 10 employees) I saw a baseball glove here for $700. Customer service was terrible ! But I guess you can't expect lot from inexperienced college kids who would rather be doing something else than retail work that requires you to be friendly. I could see it in their expressions. Like they were doing me a favor by just being there. Also there is a cash register right near the mall entrance that seems to be out of service or always closed. They always seem to send everyone to the west side of the store for service. It looked like there were about 6 registers, but only 1 or 2 staff members handling them. And that was at the end of october. I can hardly wait for the xmas rush. Nice store but do something about your service! read more

I waited twenty minutes for help in the fitness department to finally be directed to the team area looking for a few items then had questions and no one was around to help me out cinally a man by the name of Tom passed me and as he did he blew me off with a sarcastic remark and asked someone to come help me after waiting another ten minutes he passes me and asks if anyone had assisted me yet as I was about to say no that I had been waiti g for quite some time he replied "well i guess I will help u out then" as he helped me out with sizing and a few other questions I had he walked off he almost reminded me of a crackhead he was so back and forth with his emotions it was very uncomfortable he didn't have on the uniform so I am assuming he is of management after i walked to the registers with two cashiers by the name of nora and not sure of the other one she had blonde hair they were talking the WHOLE time even after another associate asked one to do something by rhe door nora was somewhat okay until i overheard her gossiping about some guy that they would have sexual relations with that worked there overall I will never shop here Again due to their rude customer service skills!!!! Very disappointed, went there with my 8 yo, who has been playing for 4 y, for a new driver, and was told that Dicks has policy against kids being checked for their swing speed just minutes after another kid's speed was checked?! My son's swing speed was checked at Golf Mart when he was 6 and Golfsmith last year without any issues. I have placed few online orders with Dick's before and was very satisfied, but my experience in the store wasn't so positive. read more
