I used to buy thousands of dollars in gear annually for my 3 kids, and recommended them to several dozen friends over the years, but no longer. They are built by corporate greed and local businesses will now get our business. I bought a bat for my 8 year old daughter. Not cheap. $200. After 2 swings at our home tee set up, we quickly could see it was too big for her, even though the original salesperson assured me after measuring her up it would be perfect. I took the bat back 2 days later asking to just exchange to a shorter bat, and they examined that bat with a magnifying glass to find a little scuff and denied the exchange entirely. Said I was stuck with it. I know Demarini would take it back as a sign of good faith and customer service, but Dicks refuses, so I'm stuck with the bat. Lesson learned. Spend my dollars where they are appreciated and welcome. I will cancel my Dicks Membership as well. What good is that worth? read more

I believe that, were I a golfer, Dick's Sporting Goods would be a desirable place for me to shop. I believe so because the only people I've ever heard speak positively about DSG are golfers, who, it seems, are well-received and well-treated by Dick's staff of sales people and assistants. However, I've shopped at the store a few times, and, since I'm not a golfer, I was treated like dirt. That's cool. DSG serves a useful purpose: when I'm in the market for sporting goods, I stop by Dick's to try on/try out new products, then I go home and order them from Amazon. read more

I will never shop at dicks again after the way me and my wife were aggressively told to leave the store today with no explanation. We complied and left. Called and ask to speak to a manager and was told it was due to an employee witnessing us conceal an item. This is absolutely incorrect! After visiting today and seeing the other reviews, it's clear whoever is managing this store needs to be replaced. I felt so bad for the ONE helpful employee (Bailey) who helped me after waiting 20 minutes for my shoes (despite the section being empty, and the kiosk telling me it would be 2-3 minutes lol) and then as I was the only person standing in line two cashiers vanished into the ether instead of helping me check out with my single item. Wtf. Literally after 10 minutes of standing there watching the other customer try to bamboozle and talk her way into returning some items from forever ago, I had to say something and ask to be helped. A person who appeared to be a manager rudely said "there's only one cashier" instead of HELPING and I said "I've been waiting here so long that there were another 2 who left while I was standing here!" So Bailey, who was already dealing with this dreadful return situation, called me over and said she would help me. Why is there only one helpful person in the whole place? Terrible customer service, specifically by Shawn, an Assistant Manager. We were trying to get a pair of shoes and for an unknown reason, ALL of the men's in one style were 30% off but not in the same exact style in women's. I asked why and he said it was corporate and he couldn't do anything. He was unfriendly from the start. I said I was willing to buy the men's but they didn't have a size small enough so he said I could order them. Then I was told that size isn't in stock so I again asked for 30% off of women's or find men's in the size I need. He refused and said he "couldn't" do anything, but eventually said he would give me 15% off and so I asked if he could do that, then why couldn't he give me the 30% and he rudely said 15% and walked away, but the main unprofessional thing is that he was obviously angry, but neither of us had yelled or similar, but he apparently couldn't maintain and when he got to the front of the store (we were in the back show section), he screamed across the store, "You're welcome" -- utterly unprofessional! Also, refused to give me any info on details on contacting corporate. I was astonished at the screaming across the entire store at a customer bc as I said, although we were disagreeing, it had not been out of control. For an assistant manager to demonstrate this to his employees of how to handle an unhappy customer should really be assessed!!! We will buy our Adidas shoes elsewhere from now on. Not sure why all the bad reviews I had a pleasant experience today. I was greeted when I walked in, helped out at the fitting room and had a nice and smooth checkout, the cashier was able to price match the online discount for me as well without hesitation. We came here after scrambling to find football cleats for my son literally the day before he was to begin. We had visited 3 stores and this place was our last hope. We called to see if they had his size in stock and luckily they had 1 pair left that they offered to put on hold. So we were able to find everything in 1 stop at this store which was awesome. Not to mention the workers there! I bugged about 3-4 workers in regards to where things were, sizes in stock, and they were ALL really friendly, approachable, and helpful! Went into DSG today to purchase sunglasses as the online store said they where in store and in stock. The glasses are reasonably priced as well as I had a 20.00 off code to use anyway I wanted to see them before I purchased them. I went into the store and didn't see them. Tory (I believe her name) was alone at the counter with lines going crazy so I walked to the back and waited till she was caught up and asked for her help. She went ABOVE and BEYOND. Took keys and searched the area and didn't see the exact ones I wanted. She didn't give up and asked if I could give her time to search the front end I said sure. She found them in about 5 mins. I would've given up honestly but she didn't. I liked them and asked if she can keep them at the front so I can shop A little more. After everything was said and done I liked the glasses and she was a big help. The 20.00 off didn't work but I decided to get them anyway due to her effort in keeping a customer! Great experience shopping here today! The store was nice and clean with a huge selection of sports equipment. I came here to get a volleyball and some knee pads, which were easy to find. After walking around the store I decided to also get some volleyball shoes as well as shoes for my son. The guy working in the shoe area was very helpful and nice. We also got a little basketball for my son that was on sale and not pumped up all the way so the kind lady at the register pumped it up for us! The balls were both great quality at a good price (although some items here were a bit overpriced) and the shoe quality was amazing. After ordering shoes online a few times I forgot what it's like to actually try on shoes and have them be the perfect fit. Definitely worth the price! I called ahead and confirmed they had the exact color and size and got the confirmation. I came in and was pointed in the direction where all Birkenstock things were. After looking for 10 minutes, I could not find my size. I had a baby panic attack because I needed these before a trip. I asked an employee and explained that I had called and confirmed ahead of time. She was sweet enough to help me and look. Unfortunately, we just couldn't find my size in this color. Ann, the employee helping me saw how disappointed I was and offered to order online for me. I explained that I needed these asap and she told me not to worry, we'll get them delivered to you asap. We placed the order online and she even gave me a healthcare worker discount! Very sweet. Ann pulled through. I got my Birkenstocks in time! She worked some magic. Whoever I spoke to on the phone, 0 stars. They most likely didn't even care to actually check for my size. Ann, 5 stars! You really fixed this problem and you did it with care. Went to buy a nice bag for my wife. Looked at 2 brands and decided to go with the Yeti. About 20 of the large bags on the top shelf all hooked togeather, no problem. The tag or sticker on the shelf said 59.99 so asked the kid to unlock, took the bag to checkout and the price was 150.00. Told him the shelf sticker price was 59.00. just said the price was 150.00 asked why the shelf sticker said 59.99?? unknown did I still want the bag? Wasn't even willing to go check the advertised shelf sticker, I'm sure he's use to having wrong prices on shelves. So I went back took a picture and returned to the checkout. Why as the customer am I doing all the work. I don't work there? He said the shelf sticker was for some type of NFL bag from a while back. So when they sold out or removed the NFL stuff the person just left the sticker and when the person who restock the 3 shelves with the Yeti bags they just left the old NFL sticker. That's 2 people who can't do there jobs and just don't care. The checkout person just asked if I wanted the bag, never asked if I would like to speak to a store mgr. That would have been nice. So asked to speak to the store mgr. Spoke to a very young store mgr. not sure he really was one and all he said was that "he had nothing to offer me and had no authority to do anything". Did call customer service number at least they were nice. With the present climate in the economy, possible tarrifs, etc. I can understand that Dicks Sporting Goods has pressure on them with all the uncertainty. But there customers also feel the pressure, so especially seems like Dicks should control what they can control for there customers, more attention to detail, correct pricing, etc and more attention to customer service. 2nd time in a moth I got screwed at this location and truly they just don't care. Searching for kid bikes for ages 9-13 can be difficult. They've outgrown their cheap Target/Walmart bikes but they're not quite ready for larger adult bikes. What to do, and where to go? Cheapo bikes (remember Huffy bikes?) were perfect for new riders but their cheap components and heavy weight just stopped working for older kids. But where to find higher quality bikes that weren't in the 300+ range. Unfortunately there's a huge price bump for older kids when not considering Target bikes. After much research, Dick's sporting goods had what we were looking for. We shopped at a few different locations (each had different selection) but El Cajon had exactly the right bikes. Service was great too. Recommend for those looking for better pre-adult bikes. read more

I headed inside after alerting the employees through the app that I was inside at the pick up station and nobody approached me to help me. My husband wanted to buy some Nike athletic shoes today. He needed assistance finding the shoes that he wanted. He asked a worker named Joe to help him. Joe said that he would help my husband but was intercepted by another customer. Joe went ahead and helped the other customer first. When my husband was finally helped, he gave him a box with only one shoe inside. If my husband hadn't checked first, he would have stood in line to purchase only one shoe. When my husband asked Joe again for help, he pointed to a wall where there were several "mate" shoes. The store employee did not assist my husband in finding the matching shoe. As a result, my husband left and actually ended up purchasing the same shoes for $30 less at another store in the mall. read more

Well to begin with you don't find a sporting good store that has the variety that Dick's sporting goods has. This is why we go there because it is large with any and all sport equipment. It seems like a lot of the younger people that work there are busy walking around sometimes and don't seem to be as professional as they should. They're talking with their friends. They don't actively look to see if there's anyone that needs help. Was looking for a simple soccer net and could not believe the prices. Dicks is way too expensive on some of their items.
