I had asked a guy for a size in girl cleats he was so RUDE he said "was I telling him or asking him" "and he didn't know the prices from the top of his head" but in such a rude demeanor!!!!!!! Huge thanks to DeAndre for making a trek here for new sneakers for the little man easy peasy. His Nonna wanted to treat him to a new pair of sneaks and he has pronation in both feet, so he can't just pick up the sweetest pair and go because only a select few brands cater to his particular issue. Enter the affable DeAndre. He was a quick draw McGraw with the shoe sizing. Next my mom quickly explained the issue with pronation and I told him that he prefers something stylish (i.e. not a shoe resembling something an octogenarian wears) DeAndre rattled off the brands available for purchase and suggested a pair to begin with that my son was instantly impressed with. The first pair didn't seem to fit comfortably so DeAndre suggested they go check out a different pair from one of the other brands together. They brought that one back and it was a winner. My son got them on and walked around a bit and after consulting with DeAndre he thanked him for the help and said he was taking them. The most incredible thing about this experience was that that this was the first time my son has really interacted with a sales person, as he is a person with autism. I was impressed with DeAndre. He was patient, friendly, relaxed, and very knowledgeable about the products. Admittedly I came into the store not expecting much in the way of service, but I was really blown away. I've been here before and I didn't have a bad experience but it wasn't memorable either, it was just average. I can't even speak to the rest of the store because we only buy shoes here, they do have a nice selection though. You can also get digital coupons online apparently, my mom had a pretty good one through email I believe. Dick's is located in the old Mervyn's building and there's plenty of parking available. Lmao so i've never been the type to leave reviews in all my life even if i've had bad service but I just got to say the customer service here is so terrible when it comes to pick up orders i'm not sure of her name but i think the lady who runs the pick up orders with the glasses was just flat out RUDE and didn't even want to give me the time of day. i work in customer service so i know the struggle but damn at least try to fake it i wasn't even pestering or being a karen at all i was just asking a simple question and to top it off the question i was asking about was in regards to my pick up order that got cancelled because they didn't have my "item in store" but when i go in the store i don't find just one but MULTIPLE of the item i was trying to purchase for pick up and she tells me "oh how'd you find it i didn't see them" like cmonnn i tried to hold my composure but they need some nicer management in there asap shout out to the guy who completed my purchase at the register he was nice read more

This store was a good store it has tons of sporting clothes and shoes. It's only one story it's located in the Parkway Plaza Mall. Employees are great and the store is clean and safe. They don't have fishing or camping stuff at this locations unfortunately. read more

The good? Nice, new, clean store. Good brands. The not-so-good? Not many bargains and not as much of a selection as I expected. The reason we may very well not go back? Lots of salespeople wandering around with their headsets, who keep asking if they can help (once is okay, but to keep being stopped is annoying)...and then having to wait in line because the front desk is understaffed. Maybe they will iron out the kinks and we'll see improvement. It is nice to have a quality store at Parkway Plaza, and I have hopes it will draw in more traffic and bring more life back to this mall. We came here to find a pair sneakers. I found the ones that I liked on the wall, and tried desperately to find them in the store. After about 20 minutes I was able to track down someone who worked there, they then said that the pair I was looking for was on A mannequin up Front. They then went up to the mannequin and undressed it. Bringing me back a pair shoes. They were the wrong shoes. I Dug for another 30 minutes in the pile of boxes. They literally have shoes two rows deep on their selves. So to find a size do you have to remove the first row to see the second row. It's the most unorganized no customer service sporting-goods place I've ever been to. I actually purchased a Kayak from them online, but choose the El Cajon store for pick-up. I also bought a paddle and some other stuff at the same time when picking up my Kayak. Their Kayak guy told me about a major sale on Kayaks that would happen in the next week or so, but he wasn't sure when it was going to kick off. I decided to buy the Kayak that Friday because I really needed it for the weekend. Turns out on that following Monday, their sale started and my Kayak dropped in price by $50. I called them about it and they had no issues with me coming back in and giving the discount after the fact. I really appreciated them for doing that. I applied that discount to some additional accessories for my Kayak from their online store (upgraded seat, grab handles, etc). They also price matched my paddle with their online price, which was $10 cheaper. I noticed a lot of negative reviews regarding customer service, but I was actually impressed with their customer service. I was greeted by someone every time I came into the store, and they were all very helpful in any questions or request I had for them. read more

Jonathon did an awesome job!!! Unfortunately the managers take the review down to 1star. If it were based on Jonathan's service, it would be a 5. The managers don't seem to understand that leadership should start from the top, not hourly floor staff. I tried to call to check on availability of an item. Manager answered from the office, once I asked, he said he'd need to put me on hold and transfer me to the floor. After 15 minutes of being on hold, I just hung up and went down there. Unfortunately they did not have the size in the item I was looking for. The employee told me there was a floor manager and office manager, after looking around for the floor manager, I found out they were both hanging out in the office. Once I discussed the situation with the manager, he really didn't care and didn't display any remorse or apologetic for the situation. If you answer the phone, try getting off your rear and help a customer! They pay your paycheck!!! After looking at the reviews, corporate obviously has an issue with service standards or holding people accountable. read more

I went to buy champion pants and I was very sure that i saw the sign says 14.98 and the shirts and pants were all together i took it to the register and the total was 44 and some change i bought but i paused for second and i was like why the sign says 14.98 when i went to the girl who works there and was organizing i asked her and she goes no the shirts are 14 but pants are 25% off i go like no you just put the signs they were all together i am very sure and she was like no if someone else miss placed them it's not my fault!! I bought a bicycle from their website and had it assembled at this location. When I brought it in, I was told that there would be a charge for assembly because it was purchased from Wal-Mart. After showing my receipt the man was reluctant but finally agreed to assemble my bike. Fast forward 4 months later, my son tells me that his bike is making a noise and the brakes have never worked. After a quick look I see that the spokes are loose and the rim warped. My wife takes the bike back in and tells them about the noise and that the brakes have never worked. She is told by a man that they have no record of the bike being built and the brake cable is frayed under the bolt that holds it in place. He then says that because there is no record of assembly, he would gladly charge her for a new cable and installation of the cable. As for the noise in the front, he squirted some grease on it and said that's all it needed. I pulled the brake once after she got home and the cable broke. This is a problem caused by the bike not being assembled properly in the first place and they want to charge me to fix it. I don't know why they don't keep a record of their work but it is ridiculous. I wish I could get paid to be rude to people and not do my job. Had the cable broke while my son was riding, this review would be posted in court. With 3 children in sports, I will never shop here or recommend Dick's Sporting Goods again. read more

The online shopping experience at Dick's is by far the worst of my life. I ordered for same-day pickup using a gift card. Once the order was confirmed, I threw away the gift card -- the biggest mistake ever now that I've dealt with Dick's support. Anyways, 3 hours after the order, they sent me an email that my order was cancelled because it's out of stock. I cannot understand why I could've bought something online for pick up if the product is not available at that store. That option should've been disabled! Also, why was my order cancelled instead of shipping from warehouse to my home. That seems like the obvious solution! I opened a support ticket and they sent me a confirmation email that they will respond in 24 hours. NOT. Like not at all. Then I called them and after 10 minutes of looping on-hold commercial they finally answered. The support agent told me that the she could not ship the product to my home, and the only solution is to get a new gift card and then place a new order. The new gift card would take 4 weeks to arrive. I almost lost it at this point. But I continued to stay on the call and worked with her supervisor, Eddy. He said that company policy prevented them from just shipping my order, but promised to mail a new gift card ASAP. Now an hour into the call, I don't want to waste anymore time asking for the simplest solution, so I agreed to Eddy and asked him to send me a confirmation email. He took 5 minutes to send me an email that had 2 sentences. The cherry on top - he misspelled my name. I sincerely question how Dick's is still in business. Having shopped at several Dick's locations in other states, I am extremely disappointed with this location. I was sooooo excited to hear a Dick's was opening near my house. This place does not compare to any of the other locations. I have given it 3 chances, and it has gotten progressively worse each time. I love Dick's Sporting Goods, but from the horrible customer service to the poor inventory, I will never step foot in this location ever again. When I first walked in I was pleasantly greeted by the lady at the door. It was all downhill from there. The employees are just wandering around aimlessly ignoring as many customers as possible. While browsing the men's apparel, I asked the employee walking around in that section a question. His response, "I don't know, this is not my area." I thought okay let me ask someone else and I received the same response again! For some reason, I still tried to purchase an Under Armour hoodie. I went to the line, which took at least 20 minutes, only for the price to come up wrong. I told to associate and she said she had to call her manager. She called him 3 times with no response, then she called the assistant manager with no luck. I decided not to purchase it. While leaving I saw the manager and I tried to talk to him. He told me he was too busy to talk and casually walked away. I was thinking WTF!!? How could Dick's hire employees like this. Their other stores have much higher standards. I then went to Sports Authority and purchased the hoodie. I never thought I'd say this but Sports Authority at Grossmont is much better than this Dick's location. This location is is need of a serious management change. From the horrible management, poorly trained staff, sad inventory and the obnoxious noise from the gym upstairs, do not shop here! They have pretty much everything you could possibly need to complete your active lifestyle - clothing for kids and adults, sports equipment, camping gear, golf shop, etc. One note, however, they don't have all items in off season - i.e. they don't have a bunch of swimwear in November or ski coats in May. But, honestly, I kind of expected that. The store is set up nicely and the staff have always greeted me kindly. Because of the sheer size of the store, it can sometimes be a bit frustrating to find help. However, every time I've flagged down an employee they have been quite helpful. My only other wish is that they had a more diverse sale section. It's totally hit or miss for me. Sometimes I can score a great deal or two and other times I get annoyed at the $$$ price tag of Nike running shirts. But, alas, this store has just about everything you need for an active lifestyle. read more

The one closer to El Cajon was great and the sense that there were a lot of employees however when we were getting our fishing license it took a very long time to get anybody to be able to help us. I asked the woman if I could see it and she told me no.. but I can look at the box. Weird but okay I guess it's a $60 pocket knife and I think it's not outlandish to ask to hold it before committing to the purchase. So she told me I can LOOK AT THE BOX.. doesn't make sense to me but still I needed a gift. I told her I was getting it as a gift and asked if the person I bought it for didn't like it could they exchange it. She told me he could only look at it as well and if the box was open they would not exchange it. So I should spend $60 on a knife I can even hold to see how it feels in my hand!? I needed a beach fordable wagon quick because we are headed to Newport Beach tomorrow for a two night stay at a boutique hotel one block from the beach and three blocks from the public pier (review of Bay Shore Peninsula Hotel when we get back home). So I Googled "beach wagon folding" with a picture of one sold by Dick's Sporting Goods. I checked their web site for the wagon, found it, hit the "check local inventory" button and my wagon was in stock at all three locations in San Diego. I picked this one and called. "How may I direct your call?" "I want to check if my beach wagon is actually in stock." On hold for less than 15 seconds. So I describe the wagon. He says "Can you hold while I go on the floor and check?" He comes back on the phone in about 90 seconds. "Sorry for the delay but yes we have them in front of the store." So I drive over. There they are in a big stack actually just outside the front door. A Dick's employee approaches and say "Are you the person that called about the wagon?" Yes I say and he carries it inside to the checkout counter. Very quickly another very helpful and pleasant associate rings me up and offers their rewards club called "Scorecard". You get 3% back on purchases (sounds like REI) and lots of discounts. Sure I signed up, of-course. The associate said "Can I carry it out to your car?" "No, I will get it but thanks for everything." Phone call to driving back home, about 25 minutes. Fantastic service. read more

Horrible! No help. Spent 20 minutes in the soccer cleat area for my son. Yeah, that was me that left behind approx. 10 boxes opened and all over the place. Why? Because no one took the time to help me. I had no idea what was what, and everything was mixed up in stock on the wall. One employee actually walked by twice while I was lacing shoes for my son to try on. Left and went to BIG 5 and spend $80. Never again will I go to Dicks! Waste of time and frustrating!
