This location like most all Big 5's have zero interior design theme. But who cares,since the prices are low and customer service is on point. Another thing to note is that they carry seasonal specific gear. In the summer, they have life jackets, swimsuits, kayaks, boards, and water toys which is convenient if you're headed to the river or any of the multitude of nearby lakes. Plus in the winter, they have snow clothes, snow shoes, and sleds. From Folsom, it's not that far of a drive before you get to snow elevation.

Not only was the selection weak, but I was never approached by an employee for assistance, including in other departments. Plus the store seems small and jumbled in display. For example, the bike department seems blended with the snow board equipment. I left without buying anything and feeling indifferent about ever returning. Lastly, although the store carries name brand products, it is full price and can be found elsewhere for less. The only exception on pricing is their own branded products, but that often means buying something that has the REI logo blazing through the look of the item.

The problem is the firearms counter. I have purchased a few guns there over the past 13 years, and the experience has universally been horrible. The basic tone is this: The staff's demeanor is as if they are doing you a favor by selling you something. They are quite deliberately aloof, indifferent, and they slow-walk everything they do. This occurs whether they are busy or not. Either way, it will be an agonizingly slow experience if you want help or want to purchase a firearm. They randomly chose to use or ignore their "take a number" system, and when you go in there's never any way to tell whether you should take a number or not. You can stand at the counter, waiting for help for an hour at times. Often they won't acknowledge your presence or even make eye contact. It feels as if you are offending them by even being there, and they want nothing more than for you to just go away. If you actually wish to purchase a firearm, I would recommend budgeting at least two hours in the store. Or better yet, go to another store that has some level of competent management and values their customers. That's what I'm going to do. The clearest way I can explain it? The firearms counter at Sportsman's Warehouse is exactly like trying to get help from a big city branch of the California DMV. That sums it up perfectly.
