I can't think of a better example of a store that exemplifies the term "self service". No one is available to help, or answer questions about anything, unless and until you are checking out. Then they want to know everything about you, make sure you haven't somehow put the wrong sized shoes together in a box that might be of lesser value, while inquiring if you found what you were looking for with complete and utter indifference. Oh yeah, I always feel good about shopping in a store that projects an attitude of caring more about making sure no one is stealing over making sure they are finding what they want and need. read more

I want to alert people to the inappropriate management and hiring approaches used at the Folsom DSW on Iron Point. A family member was hired there and they were effusive about her hiring, her experience and customer service style. Within only a week or so however they started imposing new requirements that were NOT mentioned in the hiring process -- that if you did not SELL 10 VIP membership each shift you would have your hours docked. I believe this illegal on several fronts. But on top of that they were inappropriate, cruel and likely also illegal in their public and private treatment of employee. Please see the letter I sent to the BBB and the Regional Manager. I caution anyone who thinks they want to work there. read more

Great sales. Really cute footwear. All sorts of options. I just wish they carried more half sizes, but I still love to shop here. It's not their fault one foot is bigger than the other so I won't lower their score. I like that the nice young lady cashiering made sure both of my boots were the same size. May not seem like a big deal to you folks, but that is something I don't always think to do. So, the store is clean, they greet me right away, the sales are outstanding and they have a bathroom. You can find all types of shoes, and for your convenience, it is all sorted by mens, womens, sports, flats, dressy, boots, and the most important, CLEARANCE! Beware, although you can find things for cheap in the clearance section, not all shoes are cheap. However, they are probably cheaper than the usual designer price. They carry all sorts of brands, and most likely you'll be able to find any shoe for any occasion! This is also in a good location, I love Folsom. read more

I love getting deals and discounts on my shoes especially at DSW! I hate that this place is so close to my house but I really can't turn away from a good bargain. I have been a DSW customer for some time and signed up for their rewards program. Love getting their coupons and discounts on variety of occasions. This store is always well organized and it doesn't all include shoes. They have handbags, socks, accessories and other items. They also have a semi-decent Men's shoe department as well. I like to go towards the back of the store and look through their clearance items. I have found some deals back there especially when they offer additional discounts on top of what is marked. I'm never one to complain about getting or not getting a military discount. It's always a most generous and compassionate display by any establishment to give such a thing. Just don't tell a veteran that you do give a military discount just to get a sale. The manager at this store was asked if they give a military discount at the point of sale and the manager said yes. He also added that it's been incorporated with your rewards points. If this is the case then everyone that shops there is a military member as long as you shop enough times to gather up some reward cash to spend. Call me crazy but this is called a bold face lie from the manager of this store and we will never shop here ever again. Just to be clear, it's not because of the discount, it's the dishonesty and deception from this manager. How dare you attempt to associate yourself as a store that cares about our veterans just to gain a sale. You should be ashamed. read more

This is the first time I've had such a disgusting experience with DSW and I and my mom will take my money somewhere else. They do not value their longtime customers. My mom had purchased beautiful UGG boots for my five year old daughter for Christmas. In the craziness of opening her gift, my daughter must have done something with the shoe box and receipt that my mom had attached to the box which we dug around everywhere and couldn't find. A few days later I noticed that the boots were both left sides and one boot was a size 13 and a size 1. I called the store and was told to bring the shoes in and they will see what they can do about it. I drove thirty minutes with my five-year-old and my one-year-old kid to meet my mom (a registered nurse who just completed her night shifts the day prior and needs to be resting not dealing with this crap). We arrived at the DSW store in Folsom so we can get a matching shoe in size 1 for the right foot. That's all we needed. If not that, then the store had to solve this issue somehow because their associate wasn't careful to check both shoes if they were correct sizes and sides. My mom gave all the information she had for the purchase and the manager refused to resolve the issue because both shoes had no tags and were left sides. Plus my mom didn't have a member account and I understand that it's easier for DSW to look up purchases if the customer has a member account, but my mom never wanted to have a membership account because she prefers to shop as she's done for many years and never had thought it was important. My mom was frustrated with how she was treated in a manner that came across as if my mom was trying to rip off the store and steal shoes. The associate told my mom to call customer service to resolve the issue so we sat in the DSW parking lot with my two little kids and were on the phone for a total of 30-40 mins after which we were told we couldn't be helped and that we need to go back again into the store. Out of desperation we went back into the store and were told again by an associate that they couldn't do anything about our shoe problem. Even after we showed my moms credit card statement for when the shoe was purchased and the total cost, we were told there was nothing that could be done. What??!!! My mom spends money in DSW almost monthly for her grandkids and her family and it's insane how DSW never made an attempt to resolve our shoe issue! Nonetheless, a long time customer like my mom was appalled by the service. So, what am I supposed to do now DSW? Throw away perfectly new UGGS that have not ever been worn? Add more waste to an already trash-filled earth? To whom can I donate two brand new, unused left shoes in two different sizes? $59 dollars gone and no gift for my daughter. Angry! read more

this location is beyond awful. the people here have no common sense and don't know the first thing about customer service. I purchased an item with a coupon online. the website does not say anything about a cut off time, I come in an hour later and the shoe was an in stock item and I took it to the register with my confirmation number and the girl said she cannot process it because the shoe isn't here yet. I tried to explain to her it's a purchase of an in stock item for store pick up. she told me that until I get an email confirmation for an item I already pulled and have in front of her, she cannot process anything and that if I wish to purchase the same item at regular price, I can do that. ?!?! seriously? then I called customer service and they told me I didn't meet the cutoff time and I will need to come back tomorrow to pick it up... I left the store and 15 minutes later I get an email letting me know that my item is ready for pick up.... these people have absolutely no common sense and lack any if all problem solving skills and customer service. obviously, the expectations of service based employment is not required. if this is the generation that's going to be running this planet, god help us all. read more

Terrible customer service. I was told at the Roseville store that you can return worn shoes within 60 days of purchase and with a receipt. Apparently the rules are different in Folsom. The cashier had a bad attitude and acted like she was doing a favor by returning the shoes. Needless to say I won't be back to this store. Soooo many shoes! It's carazy! It really is a shoe lovers heaven! This DSW location is great! The workers here are really nice and very helpful. The store is kept clean, and they have a decent sized clearance section. They carry all types of shoes from dressy shoes, casual, boots, slippers. All of it. They even have purses here too. Prices are usually retail, so you should expect to drop a lot of dough on these shoes. Of course they're cheaper then buying them at a Nordstorm ro Macy's, or actually the prices could be the same.. but you could probably also find these shoes at a Ross or Marshalls in a month or two for half the price... It really all depends on if you're willing to wait. But of course, if you're in dire need to fix that shoe emergency, where you're looking for that perfect shoe to go with that dress, and you just can't seem to find it anywhere else... chances are you'll find that shoe here. read more

Disgusted.....called this store regarding 'returns' as heard they working curbside pickup as the world is ending. Associate answered and said, "yes no problem". Just pull up and call us out when you arrive. I get there and do as instructed....meanwhile see signs plastered out front "Curbside..Pickups/ Returns and something else". Associate comes out and takes my return (no questions mind you) and says will be right back.....comes back and says, "Oh this is an online order and it's too hard for us to return right now"- like what? You still punch in register and basically run it the same way as other returns. I say, huh?!...I drove all way here and you say too hard?! Flats, pumps, wedges, boots, sneakers, and more....oh my! I am a regular at this location. I love the selection, prices, and staff. Everyone is always super nice and helpful, and the selection is amazing. No matter what you are looking for, you can find it within your budget. My favorite space is the giant clearance room in the back. I typically start there and work my way toward the registers. (As no visit has left me empty handed) I have received enough credits and points with the rewards program to get several pairs of shoes free. I love this place and will continue shopping. This morning I wanted to shop for shoes for my two upcoming trips. I looked up this location, put it into my GPS, drove 1/2 hour each way to shop. I found a pair that I wanted to try a different size in, they were ugs for 119.00. There are signs that say, "we have your size, ask a salesperson". I didn't notice anyone on the floor, I went to the counter where two were helping one customer and another in line. I ask if there was anyone who could help me on the floor. She said "Absolutely not!, then looked at me like I could not see that she was busy". I went back and waiting... thinking I must have heard that wrong, but no one ever came to assist me. I put the shoes back and left. When I did the two young ladies were at the counter with no customers visiting together. read more

I came here to look for a pair of black dressy shoes, and I succeeded! This is particularly amazing because I have super tiny feet and oftentimes need a size 4 or 4.5. The smallest size they have in store is a 5 (and even those are pretty rare, usually it's 5.5), but if they have the shoe online in the size you need they can order it and ship it to you (for free, I believe). The ambiance is nice and spacious and it was organized extremely neatly. Each shoe design has a display and, for the first time ever, every single box underneath that shoe will actually contain the right size and the right design. I don't think I've ever been to a shoe warehouse as organized as this. I've only been to the DSW in NYC and it was pretty hectic there because there was just so much traffic, so I loved how organized this place is. Do take advantage of the clearance section in the back if you have the feet for it! There were only maybe two or three pairs of size 5 shoes (and both, while cute, were still too big), but if you wear 6-10, you will probably be able to find a great deal or two back there. read more

Wow! Double Wow!! Every shoe in the universe here! HUMONGOUS Clearance section! I picked up a really cute pair of shoes for work that aren't ugly! Best of all they were on clearance for $20! Normal price was $89!! Staff is super friendly and helpful. I got signed up on their frequent buyer program (ouch my credit card!) and am looking forwards to getting coupon deals in the mail. This place may be decent for women (my daughter loves it) but they do not have many shoes for men. However, they have improved. When they first opened, it seemed like they had a ton of shoes but men were relegated to the back rear corner of the store. Now, the entire left aisles are for men but there is still not a lot to choose from. Their prices are just ok, nothing to write home about. read more

I'm a huge fan of dsw. Been a VIP member on and off for over 6 years. I went in today to return something, it was a little old and no tag but never been used. It was a shot in the dark to try and return it since I'll never use it. The cashier was helpful calling shoephoria to try and look it up for me since it showed on my dsw online account on the app. She was on hold for a while, the manager next to her then told her just to hang up because they won't be able to find it, even though they have done it before for me. Then the manager was rude and basically told me because I'm not "elite" that they can't help me, she then told me I'm just gold so basically because I don't spend as much money as other "elite" members they don't care to help me. It was very rude and condescending the way she said it. I then thanked the nice cashier who helped me and left. I will never shop at this location again because of that managers attitude. She should really learn not to tell ppl they basically aren't as good as the higher members. read more

I enjoy going to this store. It's really the only place I buy my shoes. I was disappointed the other day, when I needed to exchange some shoes. The girl that waited on me wouldn't look me in the eye and was very rude about me reusing the coupon I had used to buy the original shoes. It was silly, because the coupon hadn't expired, so common sense would determine yes. The manager had to step in, and she answered very quickly that of course I could use it for the other pair. I wanted to ask if we were in South Sacramento, because I am not used to Folsom customer service being so snotty. I didn't get her name, but she doesn't seem like she will be there for long. I called 2 hours ago to ask if i can put a pair of shoes on hold until tomorrow and the girl who answered the phone was just plain rude! She answered the phone with an attitude and when asking me the brand of the shoe she accused me i was incorrect (which i wasn't because i was looking at that exact shoe online) after about 20 minutes of waiting she finally got back to me (still with an attitude) saying it was in store. when i asked to put them on hold until tomorrow morning she asked for my name then when i said thank you have a good day she ended the phone call with "yeah". this store needs to work on how to talk to customers. will not be buying shoes from this location and will let people know about my experience as well. read more

All of the cashiers on Saturday are in a horrible mood. We were in at 3:00 Saturday 11/10 went to the cashier at the very end closed to the door. I wish I'd gotten the women's name. I was looking for 3 pairs of shoes I found online. We wanted two now so I went in the store to get the two they had and order the 3rd. Use %20 off (online and in store -I read the fine print clearly), $20 vip rewards and 4x my purchase points (2, 2x from vip) as soon as I told her I had a coupon she said it was online only without reading or scanning or listening to me finish my sentence-I said no it says right here in store also through my vip perks she sighed heavily and said she knew the coupon and it wouldn't work. Then when I said I wanted a third pair that wasn't in stock she soghed heavily she said it had to be rang as a separate transaction. I said ok then nevermind I'll just order all 3 online. She got really frustrated and started explaining to me I should use my 4x the points now and do the rest online- I said it was ok because the shoes I wanted to order are $90 so the %20 2 or more pair and 4x the points really is beneficial in one transaction and that I didn't want the two pairs sorry. She became angry and went through it again. We obviously were miscommunicating and she was mad. I said thank you but I'm going to order on line. She said fine whatever and took the shoes and threw them on the counter (?) behind her. There's more holiday shopping to come so I hope this woman can find her customer service, even a level of unsatisfactory service would do and be a huge improvement - she was incredibly rude for an unknown reason. I went with my mother to DSW to return a pair of shoes that were given to me as a gift from her for Christmas. We were trying to get the money back on the card but only had the gift receipt and shoes and didn't know we had to have the original receipt. We were then rudely approached by the manager Stephanie who explained the situation as if we should have know better about how the return process works. Later saying yeah that's fine Merry Christmas in a snarky tone as if it were our fault as the customer. The lady at the register however was very friendly and apologetic which is why I gave it 2 stars. read more
