Baseball and softball stores like these are near extinct in the Bay Area. The last remaining stalwart in San Carlos has hours not conducive for the daytime working hours of most people, so I always make it a point to shop at Bases Loaded whenever I visit my friend in Folsom. I almost want to say "if they don't have it, you don't need it", but there does not happen to be a large selection of wood bats, for instance. Otherwise, as far as I can tell, they carry every type of equipment from entry level to high end. I could spend the entire day just ogling over their selection of gloves, for instance. This past time, I was only in the store for about twenty minutes to check out the batting gloves and purchase a scorebook, but no less then three persons checked on me to see if I needed assistance. Purchased Armies glovecon glove spray from Bases Loaded thru Amazon. Received product and upon opening found that the spray can nozzle was inoperable and would not allow any spray to come out of can. Immediately notified Bases Loaded thru Amazon that item was DEFECTIVE and they took me thru the steps to return item. A return label was created with a postage due on it. I went to USPS to ship item back. Cost me $12.90. I then contacted Bases Loaded thru Amazon sending proof of return costs of $12.90. Sam from Bases Loaded advised thru email that return shipping is not refundable but they will refund my original purchase price 5-7 days after item is in their possession. At no time was there any mention of a replacement item only that I could repurchase the item at an additional cost!!! Why would I do that. Reputable businesses would have immediately sent a replacement even prior to getting the item returned. I have even had similar experiences where the seller said keep the item and we will issue a full refund. So I was sent a defective item that I needed to return , pay an additional $12.90 in return shipping, and wait 5 days for the item to be delivered back to them and then wait an additional 5-7 days for the refund of my original purchase price NOT INCLUDING return postage. So it cost me $12.90 for my bad experience with a new company with less than desirable customer service. "YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION!!!! On 2/28/2026 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., I drove 45 minutes to Bases Loaded to replace my son's all-leather glove that was recently stolen. I had previously had a good experience there, which is why I chose them over closer stores. An employee -- the only female employee working at the time who was not wearing a Bases Loaded shirt -- approached us. Based on how she spoke, she appeared to be in a managerial role. While we were casually browsing bats, she began giving unsolicited and incorrect information about BBCOR regulations. I explained that I coach Pony baseball and understand league rules, and that we were not purchasing a bat. Instead of respecting that, she redirected her comments to my son and incorrectly told him he could not use BBCOR. When I asked to see high-quality all-leather gloves -- Heart of the Hide or equivalent -- she told me they run $320 and asked if I was "ready to pay that." The tone was dismissive. I came prepared to purchase a premium glove, not to be questioned about affordability. Another employee helped us select a glove. When I requested break-in service, I was told (incorrectly) that even with break-in, my son would not be able to use it for eight months. That is simply inaccurate. The only positive part of the visit was the young man who broke in the glove. He was thorough, patient, and ensured my son could close it properly. However, during the process, another employee questioned him in front of us about whether we were being charged separately for each break-in method -- after we had already paid. The original employee later returned, sarcastically asked if we had "ended up picking a glove," laughed, and walked away. I spent nearly $400 and left feeling disrespected. As a coach who regularly purchases equipment and makes recommendations to baseball families, this experience was disappointing enough that I will not be returning. I can't say enough about the sales associate Logan. This young man has helped us many times with gear and recommendations. My son was a brand new catcher a few years ago and smaller than most. He helped us put together gear that he used up until today where he, once again, helped us for the right gear. Bought 2 gloves from here; one less than a month ago. Straps on both ripped off and they will not replace because we paid (them) the have the glove broken in.
