I love the service mainly because there are registers that are actually open and DON'T have tailing long lines making you not want to come back. They have so much staff, and the things that they have are amazing!!! Dick's has items for every sport, and they have water bottles, clothes, camping items, and more!!! It's a sporting goods store! Dick's does have most things that the majority of sports enthusiasts need for the games. From aquatics, Baseball, football, Basketball, Golf, Tennis, cycling, soccer, they do have the equipment and an array of clothing for activities also found is camping hunting and fishing equipment. Sometimes you will notice items to be pricey other times you can catch good sale prices depending on the seasons. There are a lot of name brands in the store. read more

if I could give a zero star I would, I am still in complete shock from an incident that occurred yesterday. First lets start off with the fact that the store was doing some sort of promotions, it was extremely busy, people like my self doing last minute cleat shopping. The entire Cleat department was full when I arrived. I had asked for a specific cleat and size using the kiosk. The gentleman brought it out to me and seemed to have an attitude and got smart. I let it go and continued browsing, ordered another shoe through the kiosk. He was taking a good bit so I saw an associate and wanted to ask her a few simple questions, he comes out of the wood works with the same mean attitude and starts speaking over me as I am speaking to a female associate. I simply asked " Are you getting smart" he replied no, at that point I turned my back to this gentleman because I could see there was going to be a problem. I continue my conversation with the female worker and as I am he begins to curse behind my back towards me dropping the F bomb Infront of my 3 year old daughter and fiance. At that point being a woman who is 8 and a half months pregnant about to buy a 200$ cleat from this store had no other choice but to stand my ground. Another male associate not once not twice but three or four times told this man to head to the back immediately. Did he listen? Absolutely not! After being removed from the situation, whole store watching I was ready to put my sons cleats down and head to a different dicks location. I am still extremely angry and appalled. I understand it was a very frantic day and it can be overwhelming, but to curse at me was the last thing that should have been done. I will no longer return to this store ever again, and I hope that store associate does not cross paths with the wrong one. Dicks is selling faulty NordicTrack rowing machines, and when the items breaks after one year of usage, NordicTrack and Dicks do not stand behind the warranty. NordicTrack will not send anyone to fix the item, and Dicks will only honor a 90 day return even when the manufacturer warranty is still in place, and NordicTrack refers the buyer to Dicks for a refund. So Dicks is selling crappy equipment, and the buyer loses money. Stay away. read more

It's been a few years since my kids were younger and I was in every week for sports equipment. Just recently I have been looking to purchase a bike for myself. Dick's was on my list of places to visit. On our first visit, the employee answered questions patiently for over an hour as we evaluated the options. we left without making a purchase as there were a lot of good quality choices. We came back a few days later and another employee was on. We asked questions, I tried them out, and purchased one. In addition, the store manager was available for additional questions. I highly recommend this store. It was an outstanding experience and I love my new bike! read more

This was not my first experience with being totally ignored by employees at Dick's Sporting Goods, at the Harrisburg location and others. It's been a very long time since I've even walked into this store for this reason. But against my better judgment I went in to look at and get information on a good set of golf clubs for my son. Now I am looking at spending over $1,000 so you would think employees would at least come up and ask if I needed any help right? Nope, I got nothing from the employee. I guess re-folding golf shirts was more important than helping a customer. Well not a customer now because I was completely ignored. I walked around the golfing area for at least 15 minutes looking at golf clubs, bags, and other accessories just waiting for the employee to come over. But of course I got nothing. So I left the store and I will take my good hard earned money to another store that will appreciate my business more. This will be the last time I ever step foot into a Dicks Sporting Good store again. I am big on CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I get crappy service I WILL and DO take my business elsewhere because stores like that do not deserve my hard earn money. read more

A few days ago, my wife and I went to Dick's. They are. There were four (literally, four) people at or around the entrance of the store. Their main function seemed to be ensuring that no customer exited through the front doors, but rather went around through the cash registers and out those doors. Once in the store, we could not find a single salesperson. I wouldn't have cared, but I wanted to find out the price of a kettlebell. About 20% of the merchandise has prices listed. Everything else is bar-coded and requires an associate to scan it to tell you the price. The best part was that they had out some bike tire pumps on sale--with no price listed. We went back to the front of the store and the cash registers, where there were two young cashiers enjoying a conversation about the vagaries of life. Once they had leisurely finished their discussion, they asked if they could help us. I said I wanted to find out the price of a kettlebell, to which the charming young man responded, "They start at $19.95 and go up from there. It's by the pound. You can bring it up here and I can tell you how much it is." Although I relished the thought of dropping this huge ball of iron on his little belt, we happened to notice an actual employee walking briskly down the aisle on our way to the back to pick up the kettlebell. His name tag said "Store Supervisor," and his attitude said, "Can Do." Once I forced him to acknowledge our presence by blocking his path and talking to him, of course. He left us standing at the weight equipment while he went to track down a scanner. After a mere five to ten minutes he returned. The kettlebell, as it turned out, was $89.95. The prices did indeed vary by weight. I had him scan the next one up and the next one down, just in case. By this time, though, I had such a bad taste in my mouth that I told the wife we should just leave. We tried to exit. There were four people waiting there to tell us we had to go around through the registers. read more

Beware of their return policy! Even if you end up having a medical condition , if you miss the return deadline by 2 weeks and no return or credit. It took me three visits to the dr to realize it was the treadmill causing the problem (bc other forms of exercise I do don't create this issue). Given the medical condition I thought they could at least be apologetic about not being able to return the treadmill, they could at least be more empathetic and less apathetic and perfunctory about the situation. I should add that the men they sent to assemble the treadmill were unpleasant and didn't even place how I asked them to several times. DONT GIVE THIS CORPORATE SCAM OF A PLACE AMD ITS MINION EMPLOYEES ANY OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!! read more

I recently stopped at the dicks sporting goods location in Mechanicsburg, PA to have my golf swing analyzed and use the launch monitor program to get fitted for a new driver for my golf bag. I loved the assistance and knowledge I received at the Mechanicsburg location, but I wanted to talk over a $200+ purchase with my fiance before pulling the trigger on the purchase. I talked it over with my fiance Saturday night, stopped in during our errands run Sunday afternoon at the Harrisburg location, and went to the golf department to pick up the club I wanted. A Callaway Razr Fit 10.5 Stiff driver. I walked over to the rack to look for the club.. of the 3 they had remaining, they were all un-wrapped, used for demoing, or even returned. I went over to ask the associate working the area to see if they didn't have any that were all banged up or used. She said she would clean one up.. After receiving it, it had quick wrapping on it, and the tools/cover with it. I proceeded to the checkout, trusting her that it was in good shape.. This should have been my warning.. The lower UPC was worn off, and we had to manually punch it in.. After getting through the long checkout process, I finally had the club I was looking for. It wasn't until I got home that I inspected the club.. Dirt in the Callaway logo on the bottom of the driver, small marks/nicks on it.. the grip was completely misaligned.. I immediately put everything back in the bag, located my receipt, and I will be returning it for one that isn't used at the Mechanicsburg store. I was highly disappointed with the Harrisburg Store, associates, and that they tried to hide selling me a previously used driver as "new". read more

In my pre-teen years, I picked up an old set of golf club irons at a garage sale. My Dad re-gripped them and got me a driver, a three and a five for my birthday. They worked well over the last 30+ years and I never really played enough that I thought I needed new clubs. Last year, they broke. My wife ordered me a nice set of cheap clubs (Top Flite) in September 2016 for my birthday from Dick's online. I didn't use them until the Spring of 2017 as I prepared for a nonprofit golf outing in August. I took them to the driving range and LOVED them. Compared to my 30 year old woods and 60 year old irons, they were a dream. Last Tuesday, I took them out to golf for the first time. Drove a handful of beautiful shots. Always hit far... almost never straight. That's my fault for not getting out more. On a par 3, I attempted to drive with my 3 wood. The shaft broke and the head snapped off. The other three guys in my group thought it was a good thing that I bought these clubs at Dick's. Certainly, they'd stand behind their product, even a year after. This afternoon, I located the receipt and took the clubs to the store in Harrisburg. I stood at a counter that I thought was for returns for about 10 minutes. When that line got long, the cashier explained that if we had returns, we could go to any register for assistance. I thought it odd that his tone was of exasperation given the fact that I could have been helped much sooner. I explained my situation to a cashier. Although she was kind, her first response was that I would likely only get a portion of my money back. I explained that if they could swap out the club for free, I'd be elated. A manager came over to assist. She appeared to want to be helpful, but couldn't figure out the best approach. They asked me if I had the original packaging and I said I did not, but that I had the receipt my wife received via email printed out. She referred me to their golf "professional." He took a look at the damage. He reiterated the idea that I couldn't get a full refund. I explained that I was not interested in a refund, I just wanted my lightly used three wood replaced or repaired. He attempted to repair it, but thought it would be difficult. Another golf expert came to his assistance and helped him trouble shoot replacing the shaft. This is where I started struggling with the customer service. Both gentlemen appeared to be put out by my presence. I waited over 30 minutes while they messed around with the repair that I assumed would be free given my experience of their product. After waiting, the original golf pro asked me how $18.99 sounded. Mind you, I didn't ask to have my club re-shafted. I asked to be made whole on a relatively recent purchase of fairly cheap clubs that I plan to use a handful of times a year. I explained that to the golf pro who seemed unmoved so I asked for a manager. He called the manager, but also simultaneously decided he would replace the whole set of clubs. The manager walked toward us as we headed back to the registers. Because she had spoken to the golf pro only moments ago and had been involved prior to referring me to the pro, I thought she understood my situation. I began to explain that I thought we were talking about replacing the club, not charging me for a new shaft. The golf pro chimed in and suggested that I only needed to pay for the shaft, not the labor. At this point I was done. I waited for 15 more minutes while they figured out how to replace my clubs. I thanked them and left with my replacements. Here is my issue... why not just replace the club or clubs? The defective merchandise policy does not appear to have a time limit associated with it. Is it worth losing a customer to make $18.99 off of him or refuse to replace defective products. Also, why not train these "associates" to be customer service oriented. I'd have had a much harder time being rude to a guy who apologized for the defective merchandise. Imagine how I would have reacted if the guy asked me how I played on Tuesday. In the era of online sales, Dick's needs to step up the customer experience. If they treated me right, I would have not only come back, but I would have stayed to pick up some more equipment. I had a list!!! I left in a huff! I'm currently ordering the same products through Amazon as I write! read more

Wow. I can't believe that any store would allow someone willing to spend over $100 on a pair of good running shoes walk out the door without even a "hello". My wife and I went to this store simply because we had good service at another Dick's in State College, PA. My wife wanted a new pair of running shoes, and didn't want to go to the mall (where, ironically, the perception if the "aloof teenager who could care less to help you" runs rampant). As another reviewer mentioned, there are indeed people standing by the door, willing to make sure you enter and exit in the right direction. They appear to be the only people in the store doing anything. We had our three kiddos with us (*disclaimer - they are usually very well-behaved), and I took them to go look at bicycles and rollerblades while my wife was allowed to shop without distraction. We stopped through the shoe department on the way to the bikes, just to give a quick perusal before we moved on. There was a whopping ONE person in the whole department, running like mad to make sure he was able to grab certain sizes from the back once the 10 customers or so could grab him. Poor guy... he was joined (and I use that word very loosely) by a colleague who seemed to go WAY out of his way to make sure he spoke with no customers that day. Must've been a dare going on that day. We'll call him "Mr. Aloof" or "MA". The one salesman who is frantically trying to help folks asks my wife if she needs anything, she tells him she is needing advice on a good running shoe to replace her old ones. He says he'll be back as soon as possible, and scurries off. I notice that Mr. Aloof is cornered by someone who wants help... Mr. Aloof tells that person he has to "put something back into inventory" and hurriedly ducks into the back. Thirty seconds later, Mr. Aloof appears out of the other door on the other side of the show department, glances to make sure the customer is nowhere around, and walks over to another department to chat with a female store employee. I leave my wife and head to the bikes, children in tow. We arrive there, another Mr. Aloof appears (he shall be known as "Mr. Aloof 2" or "MA2"). He makes eye contact, then turns around and heads back to another aisle to make sure some boxes on display are still there (I guess). I think I may have startled him with my presence... after all, there are no other customers in the bike section, and apparently this is a nice "quiet spot" for someone working there who needs solace away from customers. Guess I ruined his peace. After a few minutes, I spot a bike I'm interested in for myself, and go back to look for MA2. Seeing me coming, he then starts to head for the cash registers by making his way though the golf section. "Eh, maybe he needs to go potty," I think to myself. I wait for about 10 minutes while my kiddos sit on a few bikes, then decide to go check on my wife. MA2 never appears again. Maybe he needed to go #2. Back in the shoe section, I find the forementioned spouse standing with a gruff look... apparently, the poor guy who acknowledged her earlier has disappeared into the back, never to be seen again. Getting my hopes up, I go look for the original Mr. Aloof. I spot him over by the men's running shoes over on one side... and head that way. He sees me coming with purpose, and does exactly what I think he will do, which is duck into the door leading to the back. Drats!! So, foreshadowing his next move, I make my way over to the door on the other side. I figure he'll pop out any moment now. Well, whaddaya know? I was right!! However, when he glances up and sees me standing, he does a 180-degree and heads right back into the back. After playing "hide and go seek" for 15 minutes with these clowns (and winning!), I decide it's not worth it and we head out. After all, I can play that game with my kids, and it's quite a bit more satisfying that way. I tell the guy at the front door that they need some folks to help in the shoe department, since there are at least 10 customers standing around holding one shoe, all with blank looks on their faces. He reminds me to make sure I exit by the cash registers. ***On a serious note... I have NO idea how a 20,000-plus square-foot store can get away with having less than 10 employees on the entire floor. Two cashiers, two folks near the front guiding people to enter/exit the right way, two golf employees enjoying a good chat, one poor fella running like mad in shoes, and two MA's that apparently go entire shifts without performing any duties at all. And this is on a "busy" Saturday!!! Pretty sad. And it makes the last time I'll walk into that store ever again. read more

I downloaded the mobile app to avoid going to the store until my wife and I are fully vaccinated. I put my order in and they say they can't locate a address 20 miles from the capital of Pennsylvania. So I decided to go to the store located on Jonestown Rd. Harrisburg, PA. When I get there the sales associate in the section I was interested in had zero knowledge or what I was interested in. Underwear for big and Tall. Dick's advertises having big and tall. The store carries zero for big guys or tall. I explained I couldn't order on line because Dick's says my address doesn't exist (the complex has been here for over 40+ years. I get UPS, USPS, FEDEX, DELIVERIES FROM MY PHARMACY). The sales associate the said since we don't carry it, I can order it on line and have it shipped to your address. Mind you, I just told her 3X Dick's mobile site doesn't except my address. B4 becoming disabled I had a sign behind my desk for my employees to see "EXCUSES ARE TOOLS OF INCOMPETENCE". I called customer service and get this. They said sorry your address doesn't come up. Incompetence. Never shop or buy from them. read more

This morning my boyfriend and I set out on a mission to purchase hiking boots for an upcoming hiking trip with our first stop being Dick's as we've always been impressed with the selections available. However, as we approached the shoe area and found the boots I was appalled to see only 12 pairs of women's boots (all with bold feminine colors and no purposeful function) while the men's collection had over 80 pairs. A young man working approached us and asked if he could help us find what we needed, after asking him if there was another place in the store where I could find women's hiking boots, he pointed out a pair of UGG boot lookalikes. Now I find it hard to imagine that if my boyfriend had asked for low-top men's hiking boots that the same young man would suggest a pair of slippers. I was deeply offended by the remark and the selection. read more

DO NOT SHOP AT DICKS SPORTING GOODS, Harrisburg PA. Today went in to buy a putter cover. Expected to spend $20 to $30. Took my putter and went directly to golf section, which is quite impressive. I looked for help in that section as well as the area closest to it. First nobody welcomed me to the store and then I couldn't find an associate. Last time I shopped at Dicks was for a $100 gift certificate. Spent 15 minutes waiting to get to register. Once there employee couldn't get card to activate. She called another associate and 10 minutes later, they got card activated. I do not plan to shop at this store again but based on my past experience, nobody at DSG's cares. read more

Just stopped in Dicks in colonial commons to purchase some cleats for my son. I stood beside the clerk waiting for him to get done helping some people and not once did he acknowledge that i was there waiting to be helped. Second when he was available to help me he just stood there looking at me waiting for me to say something instead of him asking me can he help me. When he did bring me the cleats, he shoved them at me and ran off to go help another customer. I will never ever shop at Dicks again. Their name suits their customer service perfectly. read more

Good stuff. They have pretty much everything. Unless you're dumb, the employees don't run away. I had a 5 minute talk with one about basketball sleeves. They are helpful! The Girl at the counter pushed through a coupon when I was 2 bucks worth of merchandise short. Usually there is 1 person there when you walk in that guide you exactly to the thing you are looking for. that's probably why they say "Can I help you find anything?" If they remind you to use the correct exit then it must be that you're dumb and can't read signs. read more

RUDE....RUDE....My daughter and I visited Dick's on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg on 12/29/14. We had an item from Christmas to exchange. The original item was purchased on line. We thought it would be better to go to the store and try the Leggins on since they all fit so differently. We shared a dressing room so there would be another one available for others. (they only have two in the women' section.....get real!!) Apparently we spent too much time in the dressing room and Kathy, a rude sales person, knocked and in a rude voice said there were people waiting! Too bad, we waited too and we were trying things on to buy. It takes a few minutes to get in and out of the Leggins!! When you pay 50-80$$ for a pair, it would be nice to know if they fit and you can't slip them on over clothes in the store! I was on my way out and she stood there with the door open until my daughter got her shoes tied and told her to take the ones with her and hang them up if she wasn't buying them and we were not to have more than 3 items. I said excuse me, yes we have more than 3 items in the dressing room because two of us were trying on things and that makes 6 (we truthfully had 7!!) and further more there is no rack to place things if you bring in another item. Then she said, I have people waiting, take those things that you aren't buying and hang them back up. Well, normally I would have returned the things to the rack. They were nicely on hangers already. (I really felt like dumping them at her feet), and decided to place the 5 pair that we were not purchasing on the end of a random rack outside the dressing room just because she was so RUDE. I have no idea if she was a floor sales person or a manager, but I can tell you, I have NEVER BEEN treated so RUDELY before in a store. Shame on Dicks!!!! Shame on Kathy!!!
