It's always the same story: a ghost town of customers, a crowd of employees pretending not to see you, and prices so high and selection so low it's riDICKulous. Stopped in at Dicks today and was excited to see many of the items I was shopping for on sale Buy One Get One Free. In addition I was able to use an online 20% off coupon. Score!!! The manager was super friendly and helped me locate a few items as well as she pointed out I could mix and match the Buy One Get Ones. I hadn't been in this closed minded homer store in over 10 years, mainly because they only sell local teams merchandise. This is a business strategy that i dont agree with! If i could buy Raider's apparel for myself and friends, and Cowboys gear for my Dad and family, and so forth and so on then i would have a reason to go to this establishment. Had to have someone called over to assist with one item in Sporting Goods and after 15 minutes of waiting I left my cart of goods and headed to the new Scheels to get my items. There I was greeted at the door as well as the Sporting Goods department and proceeded to purchase everything I needed. I'll NEVER waste another minute at Dicks, it appears they don't care anymore. Stopped in here today to look at some things they had advertised. Really bizarre, seemed like there was hardly any floor staff working in some places. No one was ever at the sporting goods counter the entire time I was back there. Had to press a nearby button to get help where someone from an entirely different department came and had to radio the department person my question? WTF? Also they carry very few wide width tennis shoes which was bizarre so I ended up not getting any. When I went to check out my stuff rang up wrong and I had to tell the cashier twice there was a problem. He did finally correct it but took a lot of time that was wasted unnecessarily. I witnessed a manager shut one checkout lane down when the next person in line had waited quite some time and they were very upset the way he handled things. I also wanted to purchase some ammo for a rifle and they wanted to not only see my DL but wanted to record the number and other info. At that point I said never mind and left all of my items at the counter and walked out the door and headed to Sportsman's Warehouse. My fiance and I came in to get a couple pairs of new running shoes. The staff was awesome! We tried on about 10 pairs of running shoes. We spent over $250 on running shoes and felt great about our purchase. Very knowledgeable staff and patient. The cashier Clarence was the best part of the experience! Give this guy a raise! So polite and just had a great way about him. He represents your store very well and does it all with a smile. A nice change from some other stores in Centerra that day. I heard about the great customer service this place is supposed to have, so I made the drive from Wyoming to purchase a number of items for my kids. I'll bullet point my list to make it easier for people reading this. 1. The store is incredibly understaffed. The amount of customers they have compared to employees is staggeringly high and leads to people waiting long amounts of time if they need help. 2. The management is ineffective. When I went in, I actually didn't see any managers in the store at all. After asking a cashier, I found out that they were all having lunch in the back room while the store was being overrun with customers. When one of them did come out (Greg, I believe), he was very abrupt and quite honestly didn't help at all, he just pointed in the direction I needed to go and disappeared into the back room. 3. Everything is overpriced. Unless you're on a time crunch, I highly recommend shopping online or going to a smaller business where you can find better prices. WHERE IS THE STAFF!!!!! geez the folks that we did find were very nice and tried to be helpful, however there was just not enough staff to help customers in a timely fashion.
