What happened to Dick's? This store was our go-to from the time my sons started football at 7 years old all the way to now, my oldest playing college ball. We've spent thousands here over the years, and I always saw Dick's as part of our family's journey in sports. But after this experience, you've officially lost my business. At the Antelope Valley Mall location in Palmdale, the entrance to the employee area smells like heavy cigarette smoke, not a great impression. To be fair, the bathrooms were surprisingly clean and smelled fine. But the customer service? Not so great. The return policy is ridiculous. I tried to return a birthday gift, never worn, tags still on, with a receipt, and because it was just outside the 30-day window, they refused to do anything. No store credit, no exchange, nothing. What made it worse was that they had to look up the item just to confirm it was even sold there, and once they realized it wasn't selling well, especially the color I had, they still wouldn't budge. No flexibility. No care for loyal customers. Dick's used to be part of our family's football story. Now? You've made it clear loyalty means nothing. You've officially lost our business. read more

I searched many BBQ and when one was priced, and clearly tagged / marked with size and name. Only to find the wrong signage was out. I asked that the price be honored or discounted due to the lack of clear labeling and wrong signage being placed on for sale items. When asking the young male employee questions he chose to simply be short, not answer, and finally led us to the firepits... Someone came over radio and he actually replied "I'm still stuck with the customer" I was so offended by his lack of customer service. I gave up hope on the BBQ immediately and committed to giving my money to someone else. This place looks clean. Thats all the positive you can say about it. No clients, high prices and nobody to help you despite them claiming to be sending someone. I went there with my 5 yr old and asked for help with kids bikes. All kids bikes were either 20 high or had zero air to try. After 20 min of being promised someone will help, we left. Why is it that whenever I call Dick's golf department here in Palmdale that they are either rushing me to get off the phone before you could even ask a question. And why is it that when they answer my question they would just answer in one word even if it's not a closed ended question? Even when I visit the store-same thing! I don't call nor shop there very often anymore for this reason, but whenever I called or visited there 3 times last year plus today, trust me, it is a reminder of all other times I've been there. It's a shame- I believe I am a good customer- I bought many things from that store. They weren't that way when they first opened. Went to find some running shoes, whole rigmarole took at least an hour. The store was desolate, yet the shoe attendant would run off at every opportunity and could not be found for 15 mins at a time. I must order my size at the front desk, so I'm prompted to take a picture of the bar code and show the cashier. It being the wrong barcode on the shoe I am then sent back to fetch the shoe and investigate the barcode myself. After playing Batman, I am then caught between the two cashiers flirty banter whilst I'm standing there awkwardly waiting for him to give just me the damn receipt; not hold me prisoner to their zesty innuendo. I went to here last week to find football shoes for my son. We could not get any employee to help us. When I found the manager she just referred me to the tablet to find the product I want and size, then push a button for assistance for some one to help. We did that and no one came out. I found the same manager and told her. She didn't care she just redirected me back to the same process. I left and went to Big 5 on the other side of town. Where guess what? Stopped at store to buy Tuff shoes for son (baseball Shoes). They only had the floor model available that many people have had their hands on (covid 19 stil exists). I have purchased many shoes and received many minor discount for a "display" model in my life. This Manager Sigi was not willing to do the right thing and provide a small discount. I hope losing a long term customer was worth saving $8. Lastly, he was not willing to spend his time initially and speak with me. I asked for the manager and the Team Lead was sent out. Do your job Mr. manager when duty calls get out of your office. More importantly when there so the right thing unlike today! Too bad for Dicks, I was going to buy my son new cleats next month. Came here to exchange shoes for a different size after Christmas. The guy that "helped" us couldn't have been less interested in doing so. Didn't give us any options for ordering just ended up returning them for store credit and my wife ordered her size online. When she received her order, the shoes she received had been worn by someone else. Leather was wrinkled and soles were dirty. We went to the store and Jared "helped" us. He was probably one of the worst examples of customer service I've ever experienced. I know now why the store is called Dicks because that's who they seem to hire to work their registers. For an upscale sports store the service is terrible. There were many sales reps on the floor but none wanted to work. I could no find a shoe sales rep but managed to find the Advertised Brooks shoes my self although they range up no sale price. A rep came to my assistance in men's wear and helped me find some thermal underwear but then left me after a customer interrupted while trying to help me locate the men's shorts on sale. Another rep rudely pointed to a wall and did not help me with her nobody cares look. I could go to Walmart and get better service. Four employees were working the cash registers but only one was actually checking customers out. After spending over $200 I will certainly rethink shopping at Dicks. I called a friend who informed me that Dicks has a reputation for bad service. Nobody wants to work. I sure hope someone from upper management reads this. read more

I have been wanting a yeti bag for the longest time and I've been a long time customer for dicks and have spent hundreds dicks sporting goods. Recently i googled yeti tote bag 35 and noticed a local retailer is selling them online on sale for $127 compared to the price dicks has which is $150, so i called dicks in Palmdale to inquire regarding a price match. I was given a hard time from the employee from the beginning but what really got to me was the fact that the employee told me that "if it's such price ($127) at another store then why don't i buy it from them ?" That's not a appropriate way on handling such situation, you're sending the customers who support you and your business away somewhere else instead of helping. I only called to inquire and was told to go somewhere else. I did up going later that night to follow up on the price match but as i was in the store i felt uncomfortable and did not go through with the purchase as i was watched by a employee who kept passing by me looking at me. The most convenient way for me to shop is online and curb side pick-ups. However, when I called to check their policy on using my military discount, they told me I would need to come into the store. I asked if I could have an item placed on hold, I asked how much it was (it was on sale), and asked if I would be able to use my military discount and he said yes. Upon arrival, I was directed to go to the cashier to purchase my item, which was waiting for me. At the register, I showed them my military id and the very nice cashier lady was about to give me my discount when another guy said that I could not use it on any items that were on sale. Since I already left my house specifically to purchase the item, I went ahead and paid for it without my discount. The only issue I have is that, the guy on the phone told me that I could use the discount AND the cashier was also going to give me the discount, so are the employees at Dick's aware that a customer can't use a military discount on sale items? Great customer service would have honored the discount and used this as a learning lesson. Except, the lesson I learned was to go elsewhere! I don't shop at Dick's anyway. I love shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods however the poor/lack of customer service in shoe department needed me speaking up about. So I will say the gentleman at cash register in front was and is always very helpful and friendly. I believe he is a manager or assistant manager. But wondering around in shoe area with 2 shoes I was interested in, and being ignored then I approached a young lady and asked her if she could help me in trying on my size, she quickly scanned them with a device and said we don't have them in your size or any more left. So here is my complaint, where is the customer service? She quickly walked away. No offer of checking other stores, checking online, would I like to try a different shoe. Also if you have only the floor model left than why display it with everything else. Why display shoes you don't have any in stock. You need to put people in the shoe department that want to be there to sell those $150 shoes. And FYI this was a Tuesday evening that was dead. You could have used the sales. I'm standing in the most ridiculously long line at Dick's Sporting Goods there was one register open with over 15 people standing in the line and we get to the register the employee wants to tell us that it's really busy Duhhhh it's Christmas season of course it's busy which is why you hire to have adequate coverage for your consumers. I don't appreciate attitude when I've waited 15 minutes standing in a line as the managers echo back-and-forth on the walkie-talkies to see who is off of break, who is available......what happened to the days when managers themselves stop what they were doing (especially if it's nothing but standing on a ladder watching the line grow) and jumped on the register to help trim the line. TLDR: See Kyle, the shoe Guru. On average, I walk roughly 15k steps, daily. For two weeks, I have been trying to replace my current shoes, as they have served more than their intended purpose. The only issue is, most stores I have gone to, either lacked the style that I am looking for (subtle and not loud colors). The other issue is most of the sales associates, just have general shoe knowledge and rarely know more than what is printed on the box. I wasn't even going to give Dick's a bother, but the shoe rack was near where I was walking and I got curious. That is when I met Kyle, the sales associate who is a guru of shoes. Not only did he know the technique of seeing how I walk barefoot, but his knowledge of shoes was beyond just knowing what the box says. He was able to make excellent recommendations on my needs. Additionally, I had even asked him about weight lifting shoes, curious to see if he knew the same as me (a subject I spend many hours reading about), and I was pleasantly surprised that he was well rounded. Had a decent variety of sports equipment as well as apparel that's why you get 2 stars. Looked at the bike apparel and most sizes were small or medium so someone needs to take a look at ordering typical sizes (L and XL). Walked around the floor looking for an employee to get into the fitting room. All the employees are wearing regular clothes, how can you find an employee when everyone looks the same, at least have the same color or T-shirt to standardize something. Also, employees, please knock on the fitting room door before opening it. Unfortunately the girl just opened it so I had to say something. There is no where to put clothes after trying them on. Hello everyone So I visit Dicks Sporting Goods in Antelope Valley Mall pretty often and I have not had any problems with the customer service yet. It's good some pretty cool things and is a good place to find some outdoor gear. I am quite fond of shooting and I visit their hunting section quite often to see if there are any sales or new items available to us shooters. Recently I took the firearms safety test to get my certificate so I could purchase firearms again. The person helping me was friendly and explained all of the rules and what I needed to do to pass the test. For those of you who didn't know you do need this certificate of you want to purchase a firearm. The test is 30 questions and cost 25 dollars if you pass. Yesterday my husband took our kids to Dick's at the A.V. mall to buy new fishing waders and boots for an upcoming trip. There were no employees anywhere to be found other than at the checkout register. Also, all the fishing waders and regular hunting waders were in opposite sections which made shopping confusing. The store clearly doesn't know the difference. ******** I've never had to write a negative review before and it saddens me to do so. Today is my 45th birthday and my husband wanted to buy me the E616 Elliptical to replace my old one.....I called Dick's to check if they had any in stock or if we could purchase the display model. I was placed on hold and bounced to 6 different sales people and each person had no idea if this item was in stock or not. The 5th person was a lady who did apologize about being bounced around but still put me back on hold. Salesperson number 6 was a man who finally told me that they did NOT have any available but I could order one and it would take a week or so to get. I informed my husband about that and he decided to just go over there and check for himself and to see if the Valencia store had one in stock. Our local store at the A.V. mall had 2 in stock!!!!!! They told me 0! He spoke with the Manager and she acted stunned and apologized stating that this lack of customer service will never happen again! For their sake...I hope it doesn't. They need some in depth training on how to look up their inventory in order to help customers. read more

Went in looking for baseball pants for my kids. Customer service can improve. I don't need anyone to stroke me while I'm there but i felt like workers avoided me. When i finally caught a young lady and asked for help.. You could tell she did not want to help. About 2 weeks later i returned and a different young lady was folding close in the main center isle said "Hello! Can I help you find anything?" There ya go Dicks!
