I normally don't go to Turner's because the one closest to me is too far away. However I happened to be in this Turner's for a PPT and it was a great experience. It's in a plaza next to a fairly famous ice cream place so parking can sometimes be difficult but if you look around you should be able to find parking not too far away. When you go in, someone at the front counter would typically greet you and if you are going for the gun counter, make sure you take a ticket at the front entrance. The people working there seem to actually like their job and are fairly friendly. For PPT the seller has to inform the manager to clear the gun, they will give you a tag afterwards. And the overall process is fairly painless. They don't try to make it hard even though they really don't make money. The pickup is the same process and both the person who started the 10 day and the young girl who helped me at the pickup are efficient. Overall there is nothing bad to say except sometimes you do have to wait a bit when it's busy but the ticket system is fair. read more

This place is honestly just strange... From the moment we walked in, the experience felt awkward and unwelcoming. No one greeted us, acknowledged us, or even seemed to notice we were there. If it is your first time visiting, good luck. You will just be standing around confused because no one tells you that you are supposed to sign in at a kiosk that is tucked away with no signage whatsoever. Like other reviewers have mentioned, we stood around for at least 30 minutes. We made eye contact with multiple employees, and not a single one said something as simple as, "we will be with you shortly." That is basic customer service. One employee was completely focused on making a gun sale and acted like nothing else in the store mattered. A female employee was helping a male customer while carrying on side conversations, clearly in no rush to acknowledge anyone else. Overall, the staff made us feel invisible and unwelcome. I would never return to this place or recommend it to anyone. It is disappointing that management or ownership does not seem to prioritize training or customer service. Never met a stuck up twat like the manager here. Lady at the front was just unpleasant nobody that works here is friendly. They talk to you like if your service is interrupting something important as if their whole job isn't to provide service. First thing first it took 30 mins just to talk to someone after signing into the kiosk. I went to try to purchase a pistol, after I had called them the day before to get an OTD price. Great customer service from start to finish! I was a little nervous before visiting because of some negative reviews I'd read--I even considered driving to Santa Clarita if the service wasn't great. But the staff here proved my worries wrong. They patiently answered all my questions and even provided samples of different pistols to help me decide. In the end, I left very happy with my purchase. I'm not saying the previous negative reviews are untrue. I've been to a few Turner's locations across Southern California, and some employees can be rude (Torrance, I'm looking at you). Maybe my experience was better because I went in right after they opened on a weekday. I can imagine weekends get much busier. Decent prices for a local gun store, it's incredibly rare I can buy a new gun from out of state and it's cheaper than Turner's after paying that state's tax (you have to pay the state's sales tax on out of state purchases, which I try to make 0% by finding a state without sales tax) plus CA's sales tax plus applicable transfer fees. I also had an issue with a scratch on a Kahr K40 and they replaced it free of charge without question, so their customer service is very good. This wasn't my only good experience with their customer service and not only in the fountain valley location too. I'm only not giving them 5 stars because the wait times for the gun counter can get very long. read more

UPDATE: Took the drive to Turner's Outdoorsman in Santa Clarita. Everyone there was friendly, polite, and professional. I told them about my experience with Palmdale TO, and the person I spoke to said, "Yeah, we get a lot of business because of that." Got a new FSC (and a spare copy) and bought the gun I wanted - very straight-forward process with no attitude or unexpected hassles. Should be able to pick it up on Friday. Ive had a very bad experienced today, Ive been a client of Turner's since 2007. But for the first time I encountered a very unprofessional, very rude sales person by the name of Osiris Mendoza Pena. When I get my firearm here in their branch in Palmdale, I purchased some bullets, then this sales lady Osiris handed me the paperwork. However Ive noticed for the first time, my copy doesn't have a sales person's signature, so I politely requested her signature, unfortunately in a very rude way she told me she's not going to sign it and that she is not required to sign it, I told her that all my gun's DROS/ Dealer's Record of Sale of Firearm, have the signature of the sales person, so insisted to have my copy a signature, she then called the manager who acted the same and told me to just get the papers and leave and that he cannot force his staff to sign it. Very rude and arrogant people. Not worth coming back to this Turner's Outdoorsman Store. A really bad and poor customer service. read more

Before coming here I read all the negatives review but I still end up coming here cause this is the only turner place around Palmdale. OK, won a gun at a Ducks Unlimited banquet event went to Turners to do my dros doj background check there was a delay from the DOJ came back undetermined. I have no felonies no misdemeanors they told me at Turner's. They're going to put the gun back into inventory so I called Ducks Unlimited . I've won 10 guns from Ducks Unlimited in the past 10 years they told me that outdoorsman did not own that gun that they bought it from Turner outdoorsman so now it's in a fight between Ducks Unlimited and outdoorsman The woman Candice there was very unprofessional. My first visit here, and I didn't make it through the door. I won't be back. If you have two lines, you must give attention to both lines. "Prioritizing pickup" is understandable, but the worker was directing people into two lines, one for store pickup and one for in store shopping. When I asked, I was told that no one would be allowed in to shop until the pickup line was gone--the pickup line that kept getting longer. The first person in the shopping line had been waiting over 45 minutes while the pickup customers came and went. Pretty disrespectful to your potential customers, frankly. With all this corona virus stuff...I originally came in for an AR-15, but it was on back order, plus the handgun I wanted wasn't on sale until March 22. The person who helped me was super honest about sales, and didn't want to push me into buying a gun right now, vs buying something that would be worth it. I paid for my shotgun. Waited my 10 days and came back. I had reserved my AR-15, and asked if it was available and they said yeah they had the serial number for it. Now a normal idiot would be upset because no one called him, but these guys are working massive overtime and no one ever thanks them. Did my paperwork and started my 10days Came back today April fools day to get my AR-15, and I had to wait 45 min outside because they don't letter than 10 people in at a time. Paid for my gun and went to finish paper work. Bought my ammo. Overall my experience as a first time buyer could not have been better, these guys actually care about you as a person owning a gun. They will demo the guns for you and give you all the knowledge you need to be safe. I have never had an experience at a Turners that I would say was positive. After visiting the Pasadena location, and frequenting the location in the valley, and finally giving the new Palmdale location a try, I have come to the conclusion that they train their staff to be rude and dismissive. I stood at the counter for a half an hour, patiently waiting to compare a couple pistols. There were 5 employees behind the counter, they were moving up and down the counter, and not one could be bothered to say something like, "thanks for waiting we're busy at the moment, we'll get to you eventually". Two of them are gossiping about another coworker openly and laughing and carrying on, but couldn't manage a simple acknowledgement. There are plenty of places to buy firearms, and everything else they have is cheaper on Amazon. This last visit galvanized my resolve, I will never, ever give another penny to that company. read more

My friend bought a gun from there and when it came time to pick it up they had him pay then did not let him back in the store to pick up his property. As soon as they get a little crowded they forget what customer services is and treat customers like crap just to get it over with. Customer service is absolutely non existent. The whole pull a number and "wait for people to shop" is absurd. Purchased a rifle that wasn't in stock so it had to be shipped from the warehouse. I was told by the sales associate that it would only take a couple of days , and that someone would call me when it came in and submit the paperwork for the 10 day waiting period. Over week went by, so I called to ask what was going on and was told my gun was in and they just started the 10 day waiting period. Why did it take me calling to get the ball rolling ?? How long did my gun actually just sit in the back of the store ?? How many days wasted waiting for a call ?? So I go into the store to pick up my gun 10 days later , after I've completely paid for it . I stand around for 20 min waiting to be called upon. They have 1 employee working behind the gun counter and 4 other employees standing around doing absolutely nothing. After I finally get someone's attention, I explain that I've waited and I can't wait any longer, and that all I need to do is pick up my gun that I've already paid for. The only response I get is that I have to take a number and wait to be called on. This business and its employees do not care about their customers. Once they've got your money they stop caring. I've purchased multiple firearms from them and it's the same every time. Rude , slow , incompetent employees. I wouldn't mind waiting if they were actually busy, but watching employees stand around chatting with each other is completely unsatisfactory. Customers who have already paid and are just waiting to pick up their property should have priority over those who are just in the store to "look" and guns. Don't waste your time shopping here. Do NOT EVER go to this store. WORST customer service EVER. What a bunch of IDIOTS working there. We drove yesterday to pay off my husband's gun we got there at 530 and it states they are open till 6pm. Doors locked, employees inside walking around, NO customers, I am on the phone calling, calling them no answer. It goes as far as them see me try their front door and they walk away. Then an employee comes and looks out and sees us parked right in front of the door. And walks away. Husband was livid. I said okay let me call the next day see what happened. Omg, WTH did I just deal with. Man answers phone, hangs up on me. Second call, woman's answers phone hangs up on me Third call I said do not hang up or put me on hold. So I explain the situation what happened and I was told VERY rudely "we have the right to close as early as 430 if the store is packed to make sure our employees get home in time, since some of the transactions can take some time,". Okay I get that BUT there were no customers inside NONE also why didn't anyone pick up the phone when I kept calling to maybe explain why they were closed when the sign says 6pm. And even further why even post a sign saying your closing at 6 when your employees can make the decision to close early so they can fuck off in the store, as they clearly was. Was told well maybe next time you can call ahead. Omfg what,? What is the point of calling if no one will pick up. I read the reviews before going to this store and most of the negatives were issues with the wait and the store closing early so I decided to go there midday. I went in looking to buy my first gun and knew what I wanted. There were very few customers when I went on a Tuesday at noon. I was helped maybe after a wait of about 5 minutes or so at the counter. I let him know I was getting my first gun so I wanted to do the safety test CA requires and that I was interested in a Glock 17. He checked the system and they had some G17s at their warehouse which could be shipped and would arrive by Monday. He printed out a form so I could go to the cashier and pay the 30% deposit as well as the fee to take the test. The cashier handed me the 30 question test, there was a table to do it on near the register and was done with that in about 10 minutes. I went back to the gun counter where they gave me the safety certificate and we filled out the background check paperwork. The visit took about an hour. They called me the following Monday to let me know they got the gun from the warehouse and date and time the 10 day waiting period would end so I could go pick it up. I dropped by the Thursday of the following week at around 1 pm. There were a few more people than the last time I went and it took maybe 10 to 15 minutes for an employee at the gun counter to free up. I let him know I was there to pick up a gun and gave him the order paper with the info. He let me know to go pay off the rest of the cost at the cashier and come back to the gun counter after. I paid off the gun at the register, came back to the gun counter and ran through the gun handling demonstration which was quick and easy. Then there were a few forms to sign and fingerprint and I was all set. The experience was pretty effortless and the employees were helpful. I would recommend trying to go early during the day and during a weekday to avoid the crowds. There's a lot of demand for guns and specially ammo. The store was out of ammo both times I went just because the manufacturers can't keep up. I don't have other gun store experiences to compare it to but everything went smoothly for my purchase, no complaints. read more

Giving 5 stars to counter balance all the BS crybaby reviews here giving a one star review. In actuality I'd probably give a 3 or 4 star review if feeling generous. To address the customer service issue reviews, there is definitely some validity there. Not the best customer service but certainly not the worst. These people are almost always busy. Thanks to CA laws, gun transactions take a lot of time so expect to wait and deal. The reason other places are faster is because they have less customers and that's because the other small shops in town don't have as big of an inventory, and prices are comparable even better if you get on of their weekly flyer. You want cheaper go online and have fun with that fiasco. They could probably be a little bit more organized and efficient but realize it already gets busy behind the counter as it is. As far as waiting in line only to find out you can't buy something because of stupid CA laws or they don't have it in stock, I know it sucks but what do you want? Someone standing at the door asking what you need and telling you if they have it or not and explaining everything CA gun law? Yeah that would be nice maybe they can look into that. On top of that a lot of these are from early covid times in which ammo and firearm scarcity was prevalent across the nation. Sorry for the rant, but in conclusion, decent store with wide selection, look out for their sales,call beforehand to see if they have what you need, do some research to see what documentation you need to facilitate your purchase and be prepared to wait because it's busy because everyone come here.
