I wish I could go lower than one star! I brought in my bike rim almost 3 weeks ago to find out how much it would cost to get a new one ordered. They said they would call me back the next day with a price and I ended up calling them back 3 days later after no phone call! They said I had to wait for their bike tech to come in to let me know which wouldn't be until the following week! After almost 3 weeks of waiting I still have no bike tire and they have made no sincere effort of trying to solve this issue. Unbelievably aggravating! Then they said they would do the labor for free, all they have to do is put the inner tube, tire and rim together. I could do that on my own in 5 minutes. Ridiculous. read more

My husband and I had one of the worst shopping experiences to date at this store, which is suprising based on the hard economic times and stiff competition from places like Sports Authority, you would think anyone walking through the door would be treated to top rate customer service....not here. Here is my list of complaints: 1. Five seconds after entering store, asked the manager if I could process a return at any register, he said yes. I took my place at the back of a five person line, only to overhear the man behind me ask the same manager the same question with a different answer: "Yes, but I can do you return here, that way you avoid the line." Grrrr. 2. Made my return, went to the shoe department, found a pair of shoes I wanted to try on.....but where was the nearest sales associate? I'm guessing Timbuktu. My husband did a lap around the first floor before finding someone and even then I had to do MY shoe trying on in the MEN's section for fear that the associate we finally got to help us would leave. 3. Found a pair of shoes I liked and noticed several stickers that said, "miCOACH compatible." I asked the sales associate what that meant? He answered he didn't know, he had never read any specs on that. Not, "Hold on, I'll find out" or "Let me see if someone else knows." Quick Google search revealed the mystery: It's an Adidas coaching progarm. 4. Waited on the second floor for 15 minutes for an associate to open a dressing room. Saw a sign directing a waiting party to "Ring Bell" but there was no bell. Now it was my turn to do a lap around the store looking for an associate, when one was found, she said, "Oh, the bell fell" and then pointed out what looked like a smoke detector slightly hidden behind some clothes, "See that's the bell." Sure, why didn't I figure that one out. 5. My husbands shoes rang up the wrong price ($10 more expensive), when we protested we were told "somebody" had switched the shoes from their shelves. And the more expensive price was the price. That is the point I broke, telling the manager, Median, that this was a bad experience as far as customer service went. His response, a shrug and a "sorry about that." Well, Median, I am sorry that I wasted my time and hard earned money in your store. read more

Was there yesterday at approx. 6pm, the store was not busy. SERVICE WAS AAWWFFULL!!! A couple of the female associates we encountered was very rude and not friendly. No eye contact, very matter of fact and gave no additional information or help. Started to look for another associate and found 2 deep in personal conversation and they made no eye contact with us so I left them alone. The guy at the lower level shoe department was NOT helpful..forget about helpful....he didn't even ask me if I needed help. He was leaning on the shoe racks just staring at the customers. I was not approached for help and when someone did ask, they hurried along as if they had something better to do. As I was leaving the store, the lady at the end gave me a look of disgust. Some Dick's locations have some things...some Dick's have others. I come to this location to get my tennis shoes. OK-actual tennis shoes to play tennis, not just sneakers to walk around in. Last year they had a few more in stock than they did this year, but still a decent selection. They had more Nike's than Babolat's this year, but that is OK with me. Oh, and they always have a pretty good sized table of clearance shoes, so take a look there before you leave. read more

Just had a great experience at Dicks. I called and asked if their price check a basketball off Amazon. They said they normally don't but if I was just going to buy one I was coming in the area soon they would do that for me. I walked in a few minutes later introduce myself the store manager comes up named Mike and immediately double check the price, grab the basketball, and took me to the store to be checked out. I'm not athletic at all but I do some hiking and the selection of hiking boots that Dick's has is pretty big. They have a really good selection of outwear by North Face and Columbia and they carry my favorite convertible trail pants by North Face. These pants are so comfortable I could wear them every day. They also have a great selection of long sleeve running shirts in every color you could want. If you are a sports fan they have lots of Team Apparel. read more

My Dad and I have gone to this location to purchase few jordans and WeightLifting Equipment. I asked the sales associate if I could buy few pairs of All Black Jordan 1 Mid tops(note* jordan 1 black basic mids not Retros or OG1s), then the manager named "Alisson" came without any greet and facial expression of an angry person. She rudely said "you can not buy more than 1 pair" She did not mention if it is the store policy, if it is her policy, did not give any reasonable explanation but just said "No you can't" type of attitude. I asked then if i can buy one today and another tomorrow and she said she has seen me purchasing at the store few times and she knows that I re-sell. Note* " I was with my 62year old Dad, and I have never bought any shoes at this store ever before nor any other Dick's" My dad and I were getting irritated and left the shoe department to look for the Weight-Lifting Equipment. This Manager named "Alisson" had couple associates hover around us treating us like if My 62-year old Dad and I are doing something out of ordinary. So we ended up buying two pairs of shoes and one Weight Lifting Bench. 3 associated were at our counter when checking out and This "Alison" was up on the second floor along with 3 other associates hovering right above us, staring at us until the last minute when we have absolutely done nothing wrong but purchaed these 3 products. My 62-year old Dad never ever felt this humiliated and harassed by anyone in his Life-Time buying with our own Money. I have already reported this to Dick's main Corporate and I will also make sure to contact their HR from the corporate. Please DM me if any of other people (customers, even associates over there) were treated this way. Been here 5 times since I run and fiance is a huge sports guy and always looking for the latest running shoes, soccer shoes, canoe, triathlon gear, etc. ALL 5 TIMES, THIS PLACE FAILED ON SERVICE. WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK. There's barely any employee in the place. We always had to walk around for 10 to 15 mins before we could spot someone. The one employee whom we asked for help seemed annoyed that we disturbed his flirting time with some girl in the store. We asked for his recommendations on running shoes and he said "What we have on the wall, that's it." Wow! Where did you get such knowledgeable employees, Dick's Management? Another time, we asked if an employee could check in the back if an equipment was available in another size. He just stood there and said "Uh, I don't think so." Didn't even bother to check their computers or go to the storage area to check. HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! We left the store ALL 5 TIMES without buying anything because: 1) We got tired of going around the store hunting for employees 2) Employees were complacent/lazy/too stupid/did not care to provide good customer service. First off I would like to state I shop this store very often as I have two softball playing daughters. The reason for the 5 star review is only because of a 5 star associate. His name is Franco. He was at a register and he was probably the most engaging young fellows I have ever encountered there or anywhere for that matter. He took care of our issue and was just the most pleasant young man. Definitely a asset to the store. I have a medical condition and most people don't say anything, but he was curious and I told him all about it. He was sorry for me and I told him he need to be because I am alive and that is all that matters. The fact that he cared enough to ask really made me want to write this review. His parents should be proud of him and next time I come in I will seek Franco out and say hello. To anyone in management that reads these give him a pat on the back for me. I purchased and got fitted for a new set of golf clubs. My associate was Richard. He was very knowledgeable, polite and helpful with this process. He also gave me pointers with my swing while trying out the clubs. After the process was over I added 20+ yards to my swing with a couple of minor alterations. My experiences have been mixed. If I go there looking for , lets say, a Blackhawks sweater, I can stand there alone for what seems a lifetime. NOBODY is going to help you without asking in any of their cloths departments. I find the exact opposite upstairs. When looking for fishing gear, I am always approached and helped in a matter of minutes. I bought my bike there last week and was VERY impressed with their service. So much so that my wife and I went there today to get a bike for her. I would give 5 stars if not for the first portion of this post. read more

Customer Service Nightmare. I've had trouble here before but this one really got me. I found a duffel bag on the top shelf by the tennis rackets that I wanted to see. I don't know why they would sell products that are out of reach. We wandered aimlessly looking for some assistance. Eventually we made it to the north entrance and spoke to a greeter. The older gentleman got on his radio and assured us someone would be by. We waited a very long time - I have some pretty good patience. Eventually my daughter went and spoke to the employee in the shoe department. No one ever came. We went back to the greeter and explained our plight. I was ready to give it another try. I understand there are problems and I was certainly willing to wait some more. His reply is what made me storm out of the store and open a Yelp account. He snottily replied. This store has the worst customer service i have ever seen... and the most unfriendly staff. The staff (except for 1 lady) seemed unpleasant when i was there 4 days ago getting jackets for the family. They didn't want to help me out exchange 1 of those jackets today since I didn't have my receipt. They didn't show any interest in pulling up my transaction even after i gave them my credit card #. These days any store can pull up a couple days old transaction for a given credit card. Will never ever buy from them again. I have ordered the receipt from my bank, if it comes in time i will take a refund otherwise sell the jacket on ebay, take a few dollars loss and move on. I bought a Koppen ski jacket from Dick's. The initially liked the jacket but the zipper disintegrated after a year. I tried to ask for assistance with returning the jacket and all the checkout clerk said was, "We can't help you. Go to the Koppen website." That was a lousy experience and I still cannot find a Koppen website. Only reviews that say the Koppen clothing stinks. Sorry Dick's. I'm not shopping with you anymore. read more

I had no issues at the Dicks store. People were helpful during the holidays. I asked to have them look at my running to see which type of shoe I needed to help correct any issue and had someone help me and provide feedback on the video and images taken while I was on the treadmill. The shoe I bought my wife was for Christmas and I didn't know which shoe she preferred so I bought anything and let her return it after she got it for Christmas. She then went back after new years to the store. She spoke with someone and asked if she could have someone record her running so they could suggest the shoe for her. The associate did not offer this service to my wife. He was too lazy to plug in the treadmill and pull out the ipad to record the session. My wife was not happy, there were no one there at the shoe area besides that one person. So my wife ended up buying online from another store. The whole point of a brick and mortar store is to offer something like recording the running and personal service when you can't get that online. You need to train your employees better than that. If it's not busy I would think the DICKS employee would be willing to offer that server. My wife wasted her time coming to the store. We will not be coming back to this store. I'd rather buy online from other retailers that offer free returns than to get no service and coming to a brick and mortar store. read more

I received outstanding service at this location today! Let me tell you why. I just started riding my bicycle again after many years away from this sport. I had a flat today and I brought it to a rival store to be repaired. I started riding for about 20 minutes into Busse Woods and all of a sudden the same tire that was "Fixed" was flat again. Fortunately for me I wasn't too far from Dicks so I walked my bike over to get the flat fixed again. I walked in and was immediately greated at the door by a manager, Sean. He got me up to the bike department to have the repair done. I explained to the tech that I just had this same tube replaced a half an hour ago and he showed me that the tube was defective. I realized that I didn't have my wallet with me so I called my wife to get a credit card number so I can pay for the service. The manager, Sean, told me it was on them and that they were glad to help. I was willing to go back home and get some funds to pay for it but Sean told me not to worry about it. AWESOME! I never really considered purchasing my next bike from Dicks but I will now reconsider it! Thanks again! read more

PLEASE READ, if anyone needs to do a return with Dicks be aware for a nightmare... I am not speaking on behalf of this particular location, but I need to get this said for everyone to read. So I purchased a golf bag for 250$ , a beautiful callaway bag. After two rounds with the bag it started to become super hard to use the "putting well" which is the separate hole for the putter. So after realizing it was a defect I went to the store to exchange but they did not have any more in stock so they told me to call online customer support. HERES WHERE THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS. After speaking with 4 different representatives because they were having call drop issues that day and nobody would call me back so I had to keep calling. Finally I get a supervisor on the line. This guy was super helpful, he tried to rectify my issue, he said even tho online support has no connections with the stores, he will still send me the bag. I get the bag 4 days later and BUT they send me the wrong freaking bag , and it's also 100$ cheaper then my original bag. So now I call back to explain what happened and for some reason the call center was seriously pitiful at their job, I don't understand why they can't understand the situation so I ask for ANOTHER SUPERVISOR. From here on out I am bounced around to supervisor to supervisor and each one has told me the order is confirmed. So now I wait 7 days to see if the correct bag is being sent to me. STILL NOTHING, they spun me around like a yo-yo, Several lunch breaks I have wasted over this issue and i am now with the incorrect bag and out of 100$ still because of the cheaper bag they sent me. I will never buy anything from this company again. Ever, not for me , not for gifts, NOTHING... I hope this helps anyone from going through such a terrible experience. read more

I always take my kids in to buy sport shoes/cleats each season and I wish they had a "shoe counter" where employees could be available to help. We wondered out of the shoe section to ask for help at which point they called on the radio for assistance in shoes and 3 employees came out of the back room together. It might be nice if at least one employee stayed on the sales floor while the other two were working in the store room. If the employee on the sales floor needs help they could radio the employees who were working in the back. Once the employees were on the sales floor they were overwhelmed with questions from all the customers who had been looking and waiting for help. When we went to check out, there were 4 cashiers and we were the only customers in line. Perhaps if they had more employees on the sales floor to help customers, it would necessitate the 4 cashiers, 3 of whom were just standing at their registers. read more

Went to buy my nephew street hockey equipment. Asked one girl walking by if she knew anything about the hockey equipment. She said no and kept walking but pointed behind her and said, "Patrick is over there." Went to find patrick whom I asked the same question of and his reply was, "Not really." Patrick did get another employee who went in the back to look for the size I needed but never returned. A customer ended up helping me as he was a youth hockey coach. The employees are snotty, uneducated in the products sold and rude. Went to Sports Authority for stuff we could not get at DICKS and were helped and treated like valued customers. I stopped in last Friday after work looking for a pair of winter gloves that can work with my iPhone without having to take them off. I remember being greeted at the door and that was the last time anyone acknowledged me before I checked out. I was putzing around for a good 40 minutes looking at stuff. After zeroing in on the only pair of North Face e-tip gloves in the store (luckily my size), I hustled down to the register. The young lady behind the counter was telling the customer in front of me that her debit card was invalid. The confused and somewhat embarassed customer insisted that this didn't make any sense. After a few moments, the cashier ran the card through again one more time, and guess what, there was no problem with the card. She just rang up the customer without saying another word. When it came to me, the cashier rang up my items. She asked to see my credit card. I questioned the subtotal which showed the e-tip gloves as $40. I said that I thought the pair was $30 (it turns out it was on the wrong peg and there was no price tag on the gloves). I told her to take the item off the purchase at which point she asked to see my credit card again. Did my card change between transaction steps? Whatever. She bagged my purchase then looked away. Good place to shop around if you don't want any help because you won't get much help with employees like this. read more

At one point one of the people I spoke to replied to my question by saying, " You're looking for a sportline what and who and what?". Very unprofessional. I am extremely disappointed in the customer assistance of this store or shall I say lack of. I went there this morning looking to buy two sets of hunting gear. The doors were not open at 9:00 a.m. leaving us to stand outside in the frigid weather. Upon opening the door the person who opened (and i'm assuming was the store manager because he wasn't dressed in athletic attire) didn't even offer a greeting!! He just opened the door and walked away. But what was the most disappointing part of my shopping experience, was that throughout our visit, NOT ONE employee offered assistance nor a greeting, not even a half smile!!! They would even walk by us and NOTHING!! So, after walking around for a while, I just decided to leave. Will I be coming back to this store? Never. Instead i'm taking the drive out to the Lombard location where at least in previous visits they acknowledge their customers!! read more

Employees scatter as if you are wearing bug spray, while you walk through the store. It's so funny, we walked through the entire first floor looking for roller blades and saw three employees, each of them walking away from us before we could ask. The second floor there were no employees. We found their awesome selection of four roller blades by ourselves. I tried on a pair and after rolling for about ten seconds, here comes kelly the manager. "you can't do that here guys." REALLY!?!?!? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, HELLO TO YOU TOO, AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE GUYS!!! We will never be coming to Dick's again. if i could give this place no stars i would. i went there looking to buy a carhartt jacket and was told by the salesperson that per store policy they cannot allow any jackets in the fitting rooms. i can only try them on in front of a mirror, mind you i was wearing a hoodie and i wanted to see if the jacket fits just right without it but i didnt want to strip in front of other people, needles to say i bought the jacket because i need it for work tomorrow morning and was a last minute purchase but this will be the last time i will shop at dick's. Dick's you are a dick, you have lost a customer who's lifetime value exceeds the price of the jacket you are afraid of him stealing.
