It's in the middle of a major renovation so, there was a large tent where the women's and men's clothing was located and you couldn't get to the giant boot for a photo - but they had a temporary option set up with their boot car. Cute. I loved walking through the Home and Outdoor stores and shopping for items I've never seen in person before. This is a very nice corporate headquarters and flagship office area. Some things are ridiculously overpriced (Internet search!), and I willingly paid... because I wanted to. Many of the quality items, IYKYK, are completely worth it because you'll own them for life. I still own mocs from my uni days.

My last one was purchased in 1993. It was a trusted friend. LLBean has excellent customer service. Had a problem recently that was resolved in a more than satisfactory way. I really do believe this company values its customer. They've been around for as long as I can remember and have always been the go-to source of quality winter merchandise.

After many failed attempts at getting to the gym (getting up and getting to the gym in the dark of winter with 10 degree temps takes some willpower!), we went to check out what the WFS had. They had a used Life Fitness elliptical, which was still somewhat pricey compared to some other brands you can find online, but Charlie told me, in an honest, not slimy sales guy way, that these machines last a long time with very little maintenance and they rarely got them used. I trusted him and now over 2 years later and through a move where it had to be broken down and set back up, it's still running amazing. Chris in the service department is also fantastic. I think the only reason someone wouldn't go here for exercise equipment is if you're just not in the know. Otherwise, it's a no-brainer. Support a local company staffed by friendly people, and top of that you don't have to go through all the annoyances of trying to deal with the big box stores and all their outsourcing of delivery, maintenance, etc. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!!

I have always admired AE's timeless quality, comfort, and aesthetic, and could not pass up on the deals available in AE's recent tent sale. But, this being my first purchase of AE shoes, I had very little, if any, knowledge of my foot's fit relative to a 5 last. A master shoe fitting would have been ideal, but, with the end of not disparaging, while giving praise to another, my circumstances effectively required me to take a leap of faith regarding the last's fit on my foot and principally rely upon objective criteria from a Brannock device. I enthusiastically dialed AE's Freeport Outlet. Laney answered the phone after two rings and processed my entire order within 6 minutes--impressive! I ordered a pair of 8D Walnut Strands and Black Park Avenues, and two AE aromatic cedar shoetrees. The shoes arrived in five business days from Port Washington, and the entire experience was perfect--well, except for my foot not fitting the 5 last in 8D. Feeling a bit defeated, but optimistic, I called Laney. As always, she was professional and sympathetic about my situation. She sent me a return label, took my order for two pairs of 7.5Ds, and, upon the returned shoes' arrival in Freeport, processed my exchange. Presumably the 7.5Ds would fit, right? Fast-forward three weeks later, after three orders placed, three exchanges processed, three pairs that did not fit my oddly shaped foot, and consistently exceptional service from Laney, I finally found a perfect fit--7EE. In fact, one time I really needed some Futures fins during a swell and couldn't make it to the shop for a while so Charlie offered advice over the phone to decide on my best size and arranged to meet up with me near my local surf break one early morning-how can you beat that for customer service?! When I walk into MSU one thing that pops into my brain is "quality" - good brands and well made products that you may need to pay a little more for at times, but will last. Haven't bought a board here, but am always curious what they have for shapes-they don't offer a huge selection of multiple racks full of boards but I like that they stock USA made quality options and they update on social media board orders arriving to give you a sense of what's available. Also offer some surf books, local coffee and local craft beer to go.

It offers a carefully curated selection of items you NEED as a surfer (wax, rashguards, swimsuits, board leashes, etc.) coupled with things that straddle the line between a need and a want (books, beautiful towels, insulated cups, Maine-made backpacks, bags, and wallets to name just a few). Many of the items are USA made and some are even Maine-made and made in Portland. The people working there seemed very knowledgeable about surfing in Maine and worldwide. I was listening to one provide seasonal travel advice for following waves and a budget to another customer. I didn't detect a trace of snark as anyone's questions were being answered, whether of not those questions were surfing-related. Very welcoming and helpful staff and nice selection of goods!

Boots butts and…read morecanteens. Army Barracks is a rather small and cramped but very cool store just filled with all kinds of useful thingies. A great place to find camping and hiking stuff. Once you manage to maneuver through the very small aisles you will find a vast array of different types of boots, camping supplies, flags, butt packs, gloves, hats and all kinds of different things. The prices vary quite a bit, to ridiculously cheap to absurdly expensive. Not sure why, perhaps it's the different brand names. Just make sure you check the price before you bring the item to the counter or you might get a big surprise. The people working here were friendly and I found a whole bunch of sundry items that I have been looking for a while. Not the largest store in Scarborough but definitely one of the most useful.
