I have not been at their physical location. I have been fortunate for this company to be the responders to my AAA requests. On Tuesday morning, I needed a jump after I fueled up at SA in Mendota Heights. Craig, from Dick's Valley Service, came to get me going. He tested the battery and was polite and informative. I don't know if any of my questions were stupid, yet he answered them all professionally and with patience. He gave me a quote for a new battery after it was determined that there were no mechanical issues causing the problem (whew - no new alternator!!). The car didn't start on Wednesday morning, and I decided to just bus it. Wasn't in the mood to deal with it before the crack of dawn. I used the AAA app this morning to get a jump so that I could get my vehicle over to my nearby dealership. The shop called to say that Craig was on his way and that he would be there momentarily. He arrived about 10 minutes after I pushed send. I now know that I'd better be out of the shower and ready to go before I report a need for help! I asked if Craig had a battery and he did. The cost was just under $147, which saved me over $40 by not having to go to the dealership. He used some sort of device that kept the presets in my vehicle while he was changing out the battery. Service was quick and Craig is a great guy. He's funny, along with being polite and informative. We had a nice, casual conversation during the process. If you're in need of service, you'll have a smile if Dick's Valley Service shows up because they do it right. They also don't try to sell you something you don't need. I figured that I needed a new battery, yet my schedule wasn't making it easy to get it done before I needed another jump. There's a six-year warranty on the new battery, which suits me just fine. While I hope that I never need to call them again anytime soon, I know that I'll be in good hands. read more

Dicks costed me over two thousand dollars in damage after their driver ripped my front bumper half off and then claimed the damage was already there. After trying for months to get them to take care of the damage now they just ignore me. I would never use this place again! read more

I am so angry with this place! We are moving to Florida in 4 days so we took my brothers car in to Dicks to get a 2nd opinion on break noise. They said they were fine but did some other work. Picked up the car and there is a big scratch on the drivers side door! We saw it after we left my car with them for a noise in the right front. They called with a $1,100.00 bill. We picked up my car and the it had a hard time starting-when it did start there was a horrible noise. This car has started on a dime for many years-beautiful LaSabre and now there is problems. Plus, there are 2 huge scratches on the back end!! Plus, the same problem is still in the front end!! I will change my review if Dicks stand up and fix all the stuff they did to our cars otherwise-Do Not Take Your Vehicles To Dick's Valley Service. They are horrible!! read more

I have taken my vehicles in here a number of times, and the last two times they have returned the car with physical damage to my vehicle. This is not professional in least, and I would seriously give another review here on Yelp some credence regarding his claim of damage to his vehicle. Dick's is seemingly not the least bit careful with your cherished property, and it's not as if my vehicles are junker-clunkers that I won't notice when there's scratch, or two, or three on them. In fact, it's hard not to notice when the rest of your car looks like it was just driven off of the showroom floor, except for the part of your car that Dick's just worked on. In the first instance, I brought my car in there for a stuck lug nut, and they scratched up my brand-spanking-new hub cap on that same wheel. The other 3 hubcaps are still pristine, as shiny as a new penny, nearly a year later, so it's not as if these things are easy to wreck. But they somehow managed to do just that. In the second case, I brought the car in for a issue with a power window that was not going up, and they managed to scuff up my previously immaculate door panel; which I had just cleaned prior to bringing it in, so I know it was completely untainted, unsullied, and perfectly flawless. No more. So, needless to say, you can expect Dick's to treat your possessions carelessly, and toss your property around like a cheap rag doll. Now the people there do seem to come across as decent, and the work they do is generally (not always) pretty satisfactory. However, it has been my experience that they will charge some pretty outrageous prices for their services. Take the window issue (referenced above), for example. I needed the work done immediately because I was on my way out of town with the vehicle, and I was desperate to get it fixed before I left. I also didn't have the know-how, nor the tools, to do the job myself. Though, once I noticed how scraped up my door panel was, after the repair, I started to question the expense of it all. I was charged 2 hours labor for what is a very simple repair (if you know how to get one single part in/out of the door). A part I subsequently priced out as having an average retail price of $84. (It can be had for as low as $47 brand new.) Yet I was charged $213 just for the part(!), plus another $17 for "shop supplies." Seriously? The dealer doesn't stock that part, so I wonder where they got it, and if the part I received had 48-carat gold in it (or what) that caused that big of a price markup???? Next time, I'll just get the parts myself, and call someone off craiglist who will do the job for what it was worth in labor: about $59, instead of the $170 in "labor" I was charged. Another complaint I have with this place was the time I took my car in for a transmission flush. First they overfilled the transmission, which resulted in a red pond of transmission fluid on my garage floor, a pool of fluid big enough for fish to swim in. (Not to mention that overfilling a transmission with fluid can cause serious long-term transmission problems.) So I had to take it back in for them to drain out fluid to the proper level so the transmission didn't get damaged. And then they removed too much fluid, so I had to go out and buy fluid rather than take it in a third time! I think next time I need transmission service I'll just take it to one of those places charging $79 for what Dick's gouged me for $199 plus tax and "shop supplies." I realize no one's perfect, and I think I've given this place the benefit of the doubt, but in all honesty, I see a pattern here that I don't like. I now sort of feel like Cinderella after the clock strikes midnight. And Dick's prices and practices will do that to you - make you poor and feeling as though you need to take a shower after going there. Ultimately, the scratched door panel (and the costs associated with a pretty simple repair) resulted in the final straw that broke the camel's back with me and Dick's Valley "Service." You may have gotten my $412 for that job, but you lost a customer. I hope it was worth it. For it's actually easier to keep customers than it is to try to find new ones, but I guess you missed that Business 101 Lesson. For me, the curtain has fallen with Dick's, and it ain't going back up. read more

The attitude & way of this business is right in the name! Dicks!!! I am currently dealing with this place of rude & nasty business. It is VERY clear they do NOT know how to be professional. The night of Monday March 4th 2019 I was at my dads in Rosemount, at about 10pm I went to start my car & nothing, just a tick when I tried to turn it over. After almost an hour of trying to get it started I called my boyfriend to come pick me up & called AAA to have my car towed home. I have the Premier RV membership, I have 200 tow miles per year. I understand the weather & everything & unfortunately they were low on drivers with high call volume. I get it so I was patient. The tow truck driver showed up as my boyfriend was giving one last attempt to start the car. The tow truck driver himself said "yep it's the starter" it had to be towed. Unfortunately with how far I live he wasn't able to bring it out that night as it was now after midnight. The guy did bring it to their shop to later that next day bring it out. I called that next morning (Match 5th 2019) about 8:30-9am to confirm they were bringing it out & to give them the address to the shop I wanted it brought to so it could get fixed. The lady on the phone was polite changed the address & said it would be brought out. After 3pm my boyfriend called the shop were it was suppose to be or at least on it's way. It wasn't there. He called Dicks they said we went out to tow it but it starts just fine so with high call volume we will not be bringing it out. My boyfriend tried to reason with them & to understand the whole situation & that even if it did start there is ZERO guarantee that it will start after we drive 45min plus miss work to get there. This place is AAA rated & it was AAA that I used to receive the tow service. Dicks was/is paid for this service through AAA their job is to tow my car. Last night after dealing with all this thus far I wrote a complaint to AAA & to Dicks! They called again this morning (it is now March 6th 2019) to tell me "whoever I talked to yesterday was very rude & yelled at me, the car runs & drives just fine so due to high call volume we aren't able to bring it out...." After a couple minutes of this man not allowing me to speak! I finally was able to say a fee words. I told him "I understand were you're coming from but I'm sorry I also understand where he was coming from. I have AAA I need a car towed, I pay for this service & I still need..." The man cut me off & said "...we have alot of people out there stranded with no shelter, before this conversation we were going to bring it out there but now we will not be.... I have sent an email asking for the names of the people I dealt with, with no answer. They truly live up to their name 200% they are Dicks!!!!! The only nice decent person was the man who actually did the physical towing of my car. read more

Coming home in the ice storm last night I had to potholes and broke my strut and pop both my tires in Burnsville Minnesota. I called AAA and the operator sent the tow truck to downtown Minneapolis after I stated several times I was in Burnsville, they told me it would be another hour before I know another tow truck would come in the area, However I was pleasantly surprised to have dicks valet service show up within 10 minutes and Chad the driver was extremely friendly and in great spirits despite the fact his tow truck and my car kept sliding on the ice when he was trying to get it on the left. He even took time to drop me off at my home through the icy conditions I highly recommend this service read more

Clearly not trained very well since they charged me $450 for a part that did not need to be replaced and then basically said it's my problem to deal with since they are too incompetent to figure out what's wrong with it in the first place. This is a service you wish you never have to use, but, it's inevitable that at somepoint you will break down on the side of the road and need a tow/service. I've used Dick's a few times (notorious for locking my keys in my car and/or getting flat tires) and recently had the pleasure of having my clutch die while I was driving down Cedar ave on my way to work and called Dick's. They got out to me fairly quick (15mins or so). They gave me a price on how much it would cost to fix and after checking around I found their quote to be reasonable. They did a great job and they're an independent local company so I like to throw my business their way. read more

Needed a tow once, and AAA sent out Dicks Valley Service to tow me and I ended up having them fix my vehicle. They did a great job and for a decent price. I don't trust mechanics, so I get second opinions and quadruple check prices all the time. However, after several years of faithful service from them, I don't even bother doublechecking what they tell me and the prices they quote. They do a great job and several times when something turned out to be a minor issue, they just fixed it and sent me on my way. It's nice to have a mechanic in the area I can trust. read more

Showed up got my car started and had another truck come to clear codes on my car so we could get home as the electronics had shut down do no power steering, traction control etc. Showed up before the estimated time. I broke down on 494 in eagan pulling a 16 foot trailer that lost wheel on passenger side.. called AAA. They sent dick's.. i can't say enough good things about this company.. it was friday afternoon during rush hour.. they got to me in about 45 min which was about 1 1/2 hours sooner than their est to get me off 494.. both their drivers were very professional and courteous and knew their job very well.. A semi with a drop deck was needed because the trailer was to high to haul on a straight truck ..two drivers were needed because the first one didn't have enough DOT hours to deliver and return.. it was taken back to their shop and i went home with my daughter who came earlier to help me out if i needed it.. dick's dispatcher also kept close Communication to keep me informed.. she called when they left their shop and then the driver called letting me know where he was.. together we set up where and how we would meet up ( it was being delivered to repair shop ). Everything went off without any problems..i very much appreciate AAA sending out Dick's to help me out.. i would especially like to thank Nate and Tim for your job knowledge and professionalism .. read more

The service I received doesn't even deserve 1 star. I was traveling back to Illinois and had an accident on I-35. I called the nearest Jeep dealership for help and they recommended you for towing it to their place. I called at 3:00 in the afternoon and was told they were backed up and it would be a hour to a hour and a half. That's fine, I was still shook up and at a rest area so no problem. The Jeep dealer was kind enough to come and get me so that I could get to town and get a car rented before they closed at 6. We called you to tell you that and you stated that the car had to be unlocked so we left the key thinking you would be there any minute. The dealer told you that I would be waiting at the dealership to get my items out of it to continue the 6 hours I still had left home. By the time I picked up the rental car, you would be at the dealership. I finally called again at 7 to see where it was. Apparently it still had not been picked up yet and you were just then getting around to it. IT SAT AT THE REST AREA UNLOCKED FULL OF MY TRAVELING GEAR FOR ALMOST 4 HOURS!!! I sat at the dealership for another 3 hours before it was dropped off. The last time I called I asked that whoever drops it off brings the key inside as I needed to get my things out. HE DROPPED IT OFF AND OUT THE KEYS IN THEIR NIGHT DROP SO IT TOOK ANOTHER 20 MINUTES FOR THEM TO GET THE KEY FOR ME TO GET IN TO MY VEHICLE SO I COULD GO HOME!! From the time I called you, it was over 5 HOURS to get towed!! All I got on the phone was a rude girl that didn't seem to have a clue and just kept making excuses! I had a flat tire. Called AAA. They sent Todd from Dick's. He was so pleasant! He explained everything he was doing as he did it. He gave me suggestions. He told me interesting pieces of information. (Like, how holes are found in tires and how this is the way it's been done for 70 years....) Todd even checked the air pressure in my other tires. I was borrowing a friend's vehicle for the day and accidentally left the lights on when I arrived at work. Needless to say, the battery was dead when I left that afternoon. I have roadside assistance on my own vehicle, but there is none on my friend's car. I received a quote from someone else of "starting at $68", so I thought I'd just call a couple places I knew were nearby. Dick's Valley Service said the charge was a flat $50 for a jump and he could be there in 20-30 minutes. Having used roadside assistance before, I knew the time estimate alone was a steal because I've waited for as much as 4 hours from other companies! But anyways, the gentleman arrived within 10 minutes, gave me a jump, and reminded me to leave it running for at least 45 minutes. But what made this a 5 star review for me was that he noticed something wrong under the hood that neither I or my friend knew about. He physically showed me the problem and told me how to be careful until it gets fixed. If that saves us from being stranded in the middle of a busy road, then the money was WELL spent. And again, he was a super nice guy that came to help. Also, the lady that answered the phone was extremely nice as well. I'd definitely call them again for help. read more
