I used to love Dietze music store. I've purchased 5 guitars and 2 banjos over the last approximately 5 years. Ned in the guitar area is absolutely the best. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Always willing to help if you have questions but doesn't hover if you want to just browse and check the guitars or banjos. I used to think Rich in repairs was great too until I brought in my Martin guitar last year for repairs. It had got to dry and the top cracked. Rich said he would need to humidify it to start with then he could make the repairs. He did also mention that there had been a lot of guitars brought in for the same problem and it might be 2 or 3 months before I get my guitar back. No problem. I checked back about 4 months. Not ready yet. I checked back about 6 months and he said the repair was made and he showed me and explained what he had done done and that he just needed to complete the finish on top. It's a black guitar. He said it would be about 2 weeks. No problem. I checked back in about 6 weeks. Not done. He said probably 2 weeks again. I checked back in about a month. Still not done. In total he had my guitar for 14 and a half months. I just got it back today. I didn't see Rich. A lady came out to see me then she went back to see about my guitar then came back to the front and located it on a shelf. She said it was finished. I asked why I hadn't been notified that it was finally done as Rich said he would do. She told me that a voicemail had been left for me. I am certain I did not receive a voicemail and I also checked with the repair area that they had my correct phone number on 2 separate occasions so I could be notified when repairs were complete. Ned from the sales department has called me on on a few occasions in regards to a lay away I had going. He has also left me messages. To be totally transparent about this situation I will say that I was not charged for this repair today but I still feel very mistreated as over 14 months of having my guitar seems very neglectful. For at least 8 of those months a decision was made to spend time working on someone else's instrument instead of mine and then I still didn't even get notified when it was done. Great location and plenty of parking. Beautiful store with friendly staff. Theres so many instruments to look at. We went in for a repair. We got much more than that; but in the best way. We not only got our violin fixed, but also learned a lot of new things while we were there. It's so nice to see even the kids are treated with so much respect. I'm kind of kicking myself for not having stopped by in like over a decade! Dietze is Omaha's premier music shop. Go here for all your school band needs. Buy or rent your strings, woodwinds, brass, etc. They'll likely have all the sheet music you'll need. Take your battered up horns here for repair as well. And what about guitars? Damn, this is the spot in Omaha! Maybe you'll have to go to Guitar Center to buy an overpriced Gibson, but if you need anything else guitar-related at all, Dietze has the big box retailer beat. Nice selection of guitars and basses for sale, from entry level to only-in-my-dreams kind of pricing. Plenty of cases for you gear to (and more variety than GC). The amp room has some great stuff, from practice amps to the latest Mesa/Boogie and just about everything in between (within reason). I was particularly blown away by the large selection of guitar parts for sales. They had tuning machines, pots, capacitors, etc., etc. No more Amazon for me--I can know just head to Dietze after I eff up one of my project guitars instead of waiting a few days to eff things up some more. I have been a musician since 1964, have tried to do business over the years with other music stores and was quickly disappointed. Unexperienced kids who acted like they were doing me a favor, giving me false information. I guess they thought because I was older I was just born the day before. Dietze Music has been where I always purchase gear, repair work, advice and they always give me a good price. They are friendly and knowledgable. The owner is very nice and a good person. Recently had a Fender Rumble 40 there on layaway, and can't say enough about how great they were to work with. They answered my questions as a newbie to learning bass guitar, let me check out the amp, and different guitars. They don't pressure you at all, I really like when someone isn't hovering around you, but is close enough to ask questions. Before finishing review, I have gone back and had an Ibanez bass guitar I had on layaway too, and when I was making my final payment to purchase it, they took the time to make sure the guitar was fine tuned and ready to go. My so. Decided to play percussion this year for school so we went to see about renting one . I looked at their prices online and although it seemed a little more pricer then other places it wasn't bad . I also saw a set that was on sale on the website for $199 regularly $389 and was hoping to find it there . We walked around a bit and started speaking to a very nice associate. I enquired about the rentals and she mentioned the one on sale . I had her look at the paper that the hook gave us to see if it would work for what they wanted and she said that it should be just fine . Most schools ask for specific brands so parents don't go off and get some broken down ones from eBay . I found this to be a great deal ! Renting would be $289 for the school year and it cost us a little over $200 with tax to buy . I figured if my son decided that he didn't want to play next year I could always sell it to someone else or donate it to the school. The only thing I wished was that she would of showed us how to set it up. read more

We have gone to Deitz for years, have used their rental program, purchased school instruments, purchased guitars, and lessons as well. We've also used their repair services when the trumpet we bought wasn't handled as gently as it should have been. They have great service, are easy to work with, and are very knowledgeable about the instruments. Plus, the last time I was in they were supporting the Humane Society with a pawmobile out front - always a plus in my book! read more

Rich the repair tech will leave your guitar with a crooked tone knob and stripped screws so you can't check out the rewiring that you paid 85 bucks for. I do not recommend getting guitars fixed there. One pickup is half as quiet as the other one. I'm worse off then before I brought it to them. read more

Great place. Knowledgeable staff. I've taken several instruments to them for repair. If it's a simple matter, they usually get it back to you while you wait. I've sat in their acoustic guitar section and played several instruments for over an hour. I'm still looking... They have a good return policy and a military discount. Fun place for the family too. Has more selection of music for all instruments and the have a large area all instruments and a retail area towards the back , they also give music classes as well. It was busy and the personnel was very willing to help me find what I was looking for, as well as other customers, very knowledgable and if they don't have it, they get from their Lincoln store. Staff was more than willing to rent or sell beginner saxophone. They sold new for about half what they were selling used "on sale". Figured buying was a better deal considering renting for two years would be more than what a new one cost "on sale". Went to sell the saxophone back to Dietze in excellent condition and they said they only exchange and do not purchase used instruments. We checked Music Go Round and they were selling similar used models for 1/3 what Dietze did "on sale". We should have just went to Music Go Round to begin with. Great service! Excellent expertise! The store has everything music. I am musically challenged and want my son's natural talent to be developed. Not only did Deitze help me select economical musical equipment that served us well but they even took it back with a smile on their face when my son changed his mind on the selected instrument. We even took lessons there. They have large number of teachers - experts at a variety of instruments. We loved the teacher and would recommend him to anyone! The store has music rooms in back for students of all ages. Although my son is still deciding what instrument to try next, I will not hesitate about going back for all our musical needs. I began my quest for a K & K Acoustic Guitar pickup here (since they are listed on K & K Sounds website as the only supplier in Nebraska) after leaving a voicemail for the Lincoln Briarhurst location, I got a call back from Tony in Omaha informing me that the model I wanted wasn't available at any of their stores but they could have one "in a week or two". When I indicated I could get it from Sweetwater or any number of online retailers, he "miraculously" discovered one in stock!!! When I offered to drive 60 miles to Omaha to get it (even though my preferred location was Lincoln due to the traffic in Omaha) he told me he could have it on an inter-store transfer to Lincoln yet today! WOW great! What time would it be in Lincoln? We agreed on a time and I drove 60 miles only to meet blank looks from the Lincoln staff. NOBODY EVEN BOTHERED TO MAKE A CALL TO LET THEM KNOW A THING!!! The K&K Pickup wasn't there and the Lincoln people had NO IDEA any arrangements were made to have it installed on my instrument!! Fortunately Levi (the Lincoln Mgr.) and Dan (Lincoln Guitar Tech) saved the day. It's only due to their diligence and commitment to customer service that I will continue to do business with Dietz Music. I will never buy so much as a flatpick at Omaha! read more

Our first experience with Dietze was six years ago when my child rented his first trumpet from them. Relationship was fairly short because he switched to the tuba at semester and played that for the next four years. For another child we purchased a starter guitar from Dietze. Now my third child is renting his first viola from them. I can't say enough good things about Dietze and how they treat their customers. The ability to build equity in a rental program and transfer that equity to another instrument is important as children progress through school and change instruments. read more

Terrible business. Earlier this week they were not willing to even give someone a guitar shipping box that they would normally throw away, they wanted to charge me $10 for it. Guitar center will give them away. Then yesterday I just bought a Gibson pick up for $160 and I paid in cash thinking that would be easier, I went to return it this morning and they tell me they can't refund my money and I have to wait a week for a check in the mail. Complete bs. Sure it says anything over $50 will be refunded via a check in the mail on the back of the receipt in small print. But when people pay in cash over $50 you would think a business would tell the purchaser that they're not able to refund their money in an immediate fashion if they need to return this. I would have just used my debit card. So not only do I not have the pickup in my guitar for the recording session starting Monday, my funds are froze waiting for a damn check! That is a terrible business practice and a serious inconvenience that effects my family! The guy behind the counter was very nice, but I will never buy even a set of strings at this music store again. They could have it set up to write checks there instead of making people wait a week. This is just in the last week. I have had other cheapskate experiences like this in previous years. I'm just now sick of it. I tried to support the small business's, but Guitar Center here I come. read more

I recently traveled from Seattle to Omaha to visit family, and spend time with an aunt who is in the last days of her life in a nursing home in Lincoln. I intended to bring my violin to play for her, but realized, halfway to the airport, that I left it at home. While waiting to board my flight to Nebraska, I searched for Omaha/Lincoln music stores and made some phone calls in hopes of renting a violin for the ten days I would be there. I'll be eternally grateful that my search led me to this Dietze Music location. Not only did they have a violin available, but each and every one of the staff I encountered - from the initial phone call, to pick-up, to drop-off - were incredibly friendly, kind, caring, and professional. I was able to share the joy of music with my aunt thanks to this wonderful shop.
