I was looking for a multimeter and got overwhelmed. The layout is a bit sporadic and the people are a little weird, but it is a pawn shop. It takes a once around to become familiar with it and it is worth it. I never needed to pawn or sell my belongings so I can't comment. I've been going to this Guitar Center since 2011 and seen a lot of changes. They used to have a…read moredecent variety of high end Martin and Gibson guitars, but on my last visit there were very few high end guitars. They did have a large selection of low to middle price fretted instruments but some were not in the best shape. According to the Guitar Center web site, they had variety of guitarlele's and Cordoba Mini II guitars in stock. When I went to the store, they had one guitarlele with a broken 6th string, and one Cordoba Mini II Bass with bad fret buzz on the 1st and 3rd strings. If you are looking for musical accessories, they do have a large stock. But the problem is that on my last few visits the store was severely understaffed. So if anything you want is locked, or requires staff assistance, it can be very difficult to get help. Even paying for your purchases can be problematic, since there was only one register open when I visited and the two staff members behind it seemed more interested in talking with each other than helping customers. I know that corporate Guitar Center has ongoing financial problems, but they need to invest some money back into their stores to make the shopping experience better for customers.

Add in school band instruments and supplies, sheet music for beginners and professionals alike, enough guitar equipment to satisfy axe heads in a pinch plus a large showroom of pianos, and you have a centrally-located music store that's been serving Omaha for decades. There's also practice rooms on the lower level if you or your kids are interested in taking private lessons from local teachers. I took clarinet and saxophone lessons at Schmitt from Leonard Eby. As much as I hated going there with my brother and dad just about every Sunday for 10-plus years, the musical education Eby provided me with is invaluable and helped earn and keep first chair in the wind ensemble throughout high school. Not to mention build the foundation of a smalltime music career that has allowed me to play on the best stages of Omaha and travel from NYC to LA and play at international music festivals such as SXSW. Going in there yesterday to buy some clarinet reeds for the first time since the early 2000s reminded me of all this. I'm so glad Schmitt is still here. Hopefully it'll be here forever.

Recently I noticed that it was having the infamous binding separation at the rear waist so looked for the nearest Martin service center to have it fixed. I was overjoyed to see that Micah Bruce of Bruce & Sons was now on the Martin service center list and is only a few miles away. So in it went for setup and warranty binding repair. Got my guitar back yesterday and the set up was perfection. Micah worked magic especially with adjustments at the nut. And the binding now looks like new from the factory.
