I've never reviewed DiGregorio's? Really? I stopped at DiGregorio's Market on a Thursday afternoon. I was on the hunt for ground Calabrian chili peppers. They didn't have ground ones but they did have whole peppers. I didn't buy them because at the time it was my first stop and it didn't occur to me that I wouldn't find them on my little hunt. I picked up some other fun things though. I picked up Red Clam Sauce, a can of baby clams, Green Olive Paste (I have been really into green olives lately), Cannellini Beans, and my favorite thing was a jar of Artichoke Tapenade. It's delicious! I'm mixing it into my roasted broccoli and cauliflower when I reheat it. DiGregorio's, in my opinion, is the best of the markets on The Hill with the largest selection. This authentic market is full of favorites I haven't had the pleasure to enjoy for years. It was clean as a whistle. The employees were simply fantastic and kind. The selection superb. I am rating this so low because every person working there was rude and I just do not do rude. Their deli looks awesome and they advertised fresh deli sandwiches. When we asked for one, she shooed is to a case where there were no sandwiches. Searching for other options, I finally asked if they make sandwiches to order and she said she was going to make more when I asked if she would do a salami and provolone, she refused. So, off we went and we won't consider them an option in the future. read more

Absolutely a must stop when visiting St. Louis and "The Hill". Staff is very friendly and helpful even when they are swamped with customers. They carry some of the best meats, cheeses, and ready to eat italian foods in their deli. We load up every time we are there. In my opinion, DiGregorio's is the best market on The Hill due to the fact that it's the largest and has the most variety. Don't believe me? There are other places, like Viviano's down the street, but in my experience, you'll have a better shopping experience here. Very clean and well organized and the staff very helpful. Saturday it's very busy here, so bring some extra patience with you if you insist on shopping here on weekends. read more

Rude staff with unclear and biased COVID guidelines ! They have an indoor customer limit but if you sneak by unnoticed you can go into the store. They are not clear which lines are for what and why you're standing and waiting. You're allowed to crowd inside to wait to go into the actual grocery store? This makes no sense. The cashier is curt and rude. They may have some of the better Italian ingredients but take your money elsewhere! read more

This is really a 4.5 star rating. It'd be a 5 star if they'd segregate non-Italians and make them stand in their own line or let those of us born on the Hill cut in line at least...;-) Seriously though, DiGregorio's, like Viviano's is a great little Italian market. I go to either for certain items because some things are much cheaper at one or the other. They have wonderful, fresh ground beef and it's normally priced well below what you'd pay at Schnuck's. This is a great place to buy souvenirs of St Louis that people actually want to receive! The market sells its own label of pastas and balsamic vinegar, and has some sausages in the case by the check-out from Volpi, or just walk down the block and grab a few there. We stopped by here over the holidays and just loved it! We got an amazing little meat and cheese tray that was, not only delicious and unique, but also incredibly affordable. I am a huge fan of meat and cheese plates but they can get really expensive for not a whole lot of product but DiGregorio's was not the case. I love this Italian grocery! I buy items that I cannot find at even the large supermarkets, such as different pasta shapes. I highly recommend their in-house-made frozen ravioli , tortellini and cannelloni - for starters. Both of them have several options for fillings. I like that the store supports St. Louis businesses by selling locally made products such as pasta sauces and salad dressings. Of course, the grocery also carries lots of food and kitchenware from Italy. The deli is great, as well. The store is nice and clean and bright. It can get crowded on Saturdays, but it is a fun place at which to shop. read more

Greatest market on The Hill! The place is filled with authentic Italian ingredients and meats. We frequent here for Pomi (Italian strained tomatoes), freshly grated cheeses and hot salciccia. All are key components of my husband's homemade marinara sauce that has been passed down for generations. So when we visit this place, I know I am soon in for the best meal of my life!! They have a large selection of pasta, spices and olive oils as well. For the spices, they come in large bottles and are reasonably priced. We have also purchased their frozen pizza dough to make homemade pizzas and it is fabulous. By far the best frozen pizza dough in St. Louis. Also, they carry Scamorza which is the PERFECT cheese for a pizza. Another great thing about this place, the wine selection! This is one of the few places in St. Louis that sells dry Lambrusco. Don't know what Lambrusco is? Imagine red wine champagne. It is a little less bubbly than champagne but it is so refreshing during the summer months. MMMMMM, so good! Last but not least, the check out lady is a sweet Italian woman who doesn't say much but just fits the bill. Digregorios is a nice Italian grocery shop located on The Hill. It has a wide variety of cheeses, and they even have provel! There are all sorts of baked goods and pastas here that are ready made and that are tasty. They even have their own line of sauces, but I haven't tried them yet. The home made meatballs are really good, and are great when you don't feel like making them on your own. The customers are all very nice, as are the staff. read more

When walking into this corner market on the Hill I feel like I found my own little piece of southern Italy right in St. Louis. At the counter ready to check you out is the owner who transplanted here many years ago, straight from Sicily. In the kitchen gadget area of the market I found my very own potato ricer for making homemade gnocci. They have a good variety of Italian wines and they also have a really wonderful selection of olive oils. From the first press of Extra Virgin (molto delizioso) to what is practically lamp oil (don't get the green oil). They also have a lot of homemade pastas in the freezer. I like to stock up for no thinking, no fuss meals after a long day of work. They are delicious. With all of this they also have wide selection of fresh deli meats, cheeses and an olive bar. This is really one of the best niche corner stores in St. Louis. This place gives me a one way taste ticket to Italy without the cost of airfare. read more

This is a wonderful Italian grocery store in the heart of the Hill. Its located on Marconi just south of St Ambrose Church. I just came to browse before going to happy hour at Steve's hot dogs on Friday. I ended up purchasing some pastas, sauce, and meatballs for dinner(I can report that they were all delicious. We ate them last night). There is a great selection of frozen raviolis and tortellini in all sorts of flavors from cheese, beef, mushroom and spinach, lobster, and much more. There is also a full deli with meats and cheeses as well as a decent alcohol selection. The people seemed friendly. This place has a similar selection as Vivianos down on Shaw. I like them both. The prices are higher than you will find at a big box grocery but there are some things here you won't find beyond the Hill. Its worth checking out. The Hill is a great place to spend a few hour walking the streets and stopping in the different stores and restaurants. read more

I'm not Italian, but was raised by a 1st-Generation Sicilian. I'd like to think that I know my way around an Italian market. DiGregorio's is the best Italian store in St. Louis, nestled just a few short blocks away from the 'main' attractions on the Hill. I end up on the Hill just to go to this place, actually. This is the place to get pasta, cookies, bread, first-rate cured meats and cheeses, 'fun food' like cannelloni, pre-made marinara, and wine. I refuse to buy olive oil at a conventional grocery store--DiGregorio's has a great selection with awesome prices. They sell the cheapest pine nuts in town (inconsequential...until you see that they're $8 at Schnucks), and it's always fun to succumb to an impulse buy or three at the counter--limoncello? Neapolitan playing cards? 'Italia' bumper stickers? They play to the local market, as they should, selling thin pizza crusts and Provel. The store is clean, easy to get around even when it's pretty crowded, and the ladies at the checkout counter are pretty friendly. DiGregorio's is definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. Your first trip won't be your last. read more

DiGregorio's specializes in high quality Italian grocer products. Everything from breads (although the supply was limited at 3pm), a deli counter, high quality pasta, and cooking utensils and tools. I found a couple of very good dried squid ink pastas which I love. Oh... and Steven B... I got the white anchovies. Delicious! Good punch with a hint of smokey flavor. Huge selection of cheese and meats... their house Italian salad dressing is the best... priced about $13 a GALLON which will last a year after you give all your friends some of this delightful dressing! The house Italian Sausage is out of this world. The Italian Breads are fresh and yummy, I always get a pound of Kalamata olives and some Fontina cheese to snack on with that Italian bread. When I was to buy groceries that are authentically Italian I always go to DiGregorio's. They are a tiny little market located in the hill with friendly employees and a good variety of Italian options. I generally come here for olive oil, balsamic vinegar, frozen pasta, and cheese. They also have a deli counter with a large variety of options from Boar's Head brand to specialty products. The prices are very reasonable especially their large variety of frozen pastas which you can get for $4-8 for a two person portion with premium fillings. They also have some frozen cannolis that are crowd pleasers when attending a party. The only thing that would truly make this place more perfect is longer hours. They close early evening during the week and aren't open on Sundays (which is typical in the Hill). Sometimes it makes it hard for me to get down there around my work schedule and I end up going to Schnucks on the Hill in a bind. read more

I was very impressed by this Italian grocery store. Its the first Italian grocery store in St Louis and biggest I've been to and I understand its even pretty good compared to others on the hill. Espresso, pizza pans, spumoni, every kind of pasta, provel and other meats and cheeses, bocci ball sets, grappa and wine/liquors, and souvenirs... this place has everything. I've been to many Asian markets before and maybe I just appreciated how delicious I knew these more familiar items to be. They even sell online and ship out of state. I understand not everything is the lowest price available but part of it is supporting the local market and stocking items hard to come by elsewhere. I was thoroughly pleased with my visit and would highly recommend it as a fun stop on the hill. Disclaimer: my whole family enjoys grocery shopping and I wouldn't recommend Lavazza espresso. I soooo wanna like this place. It would be such a fun place to shop on a regular basis, and they've got the materials of a very classy joint. The storemade sauce is especially good. (In general, I never buy tomato sauce in a jar, but their's is actual usable and even tasty.) The meat counter also has some excellent stuff. Quality control, however, is a big issue! Amici! I simply love this market. I started going there when I came across a free wine tasting but did I get a treat. The wine tasting also had food samples that were amazing. I found a love for Italian wines as well as Italian food there. My first visit I was a bit taken aback since I was the only African American there and I was questioned by a few customers of how did I find out about the event and was I from the Hill area but as the night went the tension eased.
