I've been to Dilbert's three times while vacationing in northern Michigan and this greasy spoon diner has landed just right in the taste department each time. I can only speak to the Meat Lover's Skillet (sans mushrooms) as it's the best skillet I've had and the only item I'll order here for that same reason. The side of sourdough toast is well worth the carbs, too. I note this because not all restaurant toast is created equal. The most recent time I went this past weekend, our party of three easily found an open table. Our waitress was with us quickly to take orders and the food shipped out shortly afterward. The Dilbert's environment is no frills so don't expect much from its minimalist (and sometimes perplexing) wall art. Such a yummy restaurant with fair prices and lovely staff that really makes happy campers! I ordered the vegetarian omelette with ham and it was loaded with absolute goodness!! Omelette was fluffy and golden stuffed with spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, and delicious thick cuts of ham. It came with a side of sourdough toast spread with butter. I had 3 coffee refills as well :) The only downside was it was pretty packed in a tiny dinning space. There was outside seating but since it was raining we waited for a table inside. My first visit to Dilbert's for breakfast. The CB Hash was excellent. Breakfast arrived quickly, but my coffee refill was slow to come, and didn't arrive until I was almost done with my breakfast. The noise level was too loud with normal adult conversation, and I found myself shoveling my breakfast in because of the din. When the screaming child arrived with the parents who didn't seem to notice and the wait staff who didn't seem to care, Dilbert's was too much for me. Breakfast is served until 2:00, so I might try again when it's quieter. If you are sensitive to loud restaurants but enjoy a reasonably-priced good breakfast, I recommend going to Dilbert's with a strategy. And it might be helpful if Dilbert's added some sound-absorbing features. read more

We were visiting from out of town, Yelp brought us here. Good spot for breakfast, huge portions. Me and my friend's mom ordered the Southern breakfast, while my friend ordered one of the omelettes. We all enjoyed our food. We were making plans to go up to Charlevoix and Petoskey but our phones had no service. I asked someone who was passing by if she could be so kind to provide us with their their wifi password. She replied "NO! .. we don't share that!". Excuse me?? She then continued, "we want you to talk to each other". We were trying to research the area online to plan the rest of our trip, nothing more. Lady, why don't you mind your own business and let your customers enjoy their time there. Who cares if they choose to use a phone or not. Karen turned into a control freak. And as that wasn't rude enough, she also asked, "why don't you use YOUR data?" Karen: data is free with your wifi, does not cost you anything extra for us logging in. I have unlimited data on my phone, but the problem is your signal. There is no signal in your restaurant as you're located in a remote area. Looking for a place to grab breakfast before going steelhead fishing we noticed this restaurant on Yelp and had trouble finding it. There was no sign on the road or it was possibly covered in snow. Once we came inside we were greeted by a witty, cheerful waitress that clearly enjoyed her job. We were excited when 10 minutes later our breakfast showed up at the table and the portions were large. Everything look good and remained that way until we took our first bite. While the food looked wonderful it lacked any flavor whatsoever. We ordered a cheese steak omelet, which tasted more like a tofu omelet. There was little flavor to no flavor. What we did notice was it almost seemed like the used eight eggs. It was large. We had to struggle to find the meat. The pancakes, however were just like you'd get at a Denny's or small diner. On the other hand, the maple pumpkin pie was way better than we expected. Even though the waitress discouraged us from ordering it because she said it didn't sound good I was impressed and would order it again. Yum. If you're cruising through town and looking for a place to order breakfast without spending too much money this is your spot. You can expect food similar to what you would get at a Ihop or Denny's. If that's ok with you - you'll enjoy this place thoroughly. We, however, were looking for something with a little more quality and flavor. read more

Make sure to read the sign on the door.. Please seat yourself at any CLEAN table. We were not the only ones reprimanded for this. There were only two waitresses for this little gem and they were working their butts off! I had to order the stuffed hash browns and there was no need to order them extra crispy as they came out just right. I had the ham in mine with two eggs over easy and a piece of wheat toast. You only get one piece of toast, but it's plenty big! My mother in law ordered a pecan pancake as her side and it was so good. I will definitely go back here. Everything on the chalkboard looked amazing for dinner or dessert and the prices cannot be beat! read more

This is hometown locals, family friendly, great food at its best! My over-medium eggs are perfectly cooked with the yolk running and the whites hard. A cook that knows what they are doing! The toast is made from thick flavorful bread...not some store bought, processed compacted sawdust. Got the Dilberts hashbrowns with ham. Asked that the cook not use salt at the grill and was told, "The cooks don't use salt on anything." Bonus: It's really clean & the service is fantastic. You know it is a good breakfast place when your coffee never gets empty. Portion sizes are generous, coffee is good, and the waitstaff never stop moving. It is standard American breakfast food... but the balance of ingredients is good... unless you go for the over-the-top items... (over-the-top in a wholesome, but probably not healthy way). read more

Legit diners are oddly rare. This was legitimately one of the better omelets I've had. The eggs were actually fluffy the way omelets are supposed to be! The ham, cheddar, onion, and tomato was delicious. I thought it odd that hash browns didn't come with the omelet, but it was still only $10 total with hash browns on the side so it wasn't a big deal. We're staying at a rental cabin in Interlochen, so decided to find a local spot for lunch. Yelp sent us to Dilbert's. I still wasn't sure, as it doesn't look much like a diner from outside. Then we sat for a while before being waited on, even at 2 in the afternoon. But then the food came. Oh my. I had ordered a wet burrito, no tomatoes on top. Hubby got the Friday all you can eat perch. He said it was terrific. My burrito was huge, meat platter sized. I could only eat half, even though I came in hungry. The picture is the half waiting in the fridge. It's delicious, not over-spiced, and even the lettuce on it was fresh and crisp. The only negative was a little old man who hobbled over to me and wanted me to take (buy?) one of his framed pictures of the Mormon Tabernacle Church. He assured me he has a lot of them, but I assured him I didn't need one. Awkward. But if that's the price of eating at Dilbert's, pay it. read more

What a simple, yet highly accommodating spot for breakfast. For some reason, I had my doubts, but was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed Dilbert's famous stuffed hash browns, with two eggs over easy, bacon, and a pancake. Wow! "Inside" was chopped onions and sour cream. It was delicious. Enjoyed the Friday fish fry and it was pretty good. The Coleslaw was the dry type, so I ignored it. The fries were half crispy and half not, but coming to a fish fry, your mainly looking for the fish. Had the cod and it was excellent. Came out hot, lightly crispy and very tasty. If you want a traditional country breakfast this is the place. Eggs bacon pancakes and the rest all served up fresh and quickly.
