This was my first visit after being referred to Dr. Tapadiya office. I previously completed all the forms that were required. I arrived on time for the appointment. Was waiting 15 to 20 minutes and the receptionist called me to the desk. She stated I needed to pay $1500 today. I explained that this was my first office visit for a consultation and my co-pay was $50. She then said she could knock it down to $275 and that was the policy. I again asked what this charge was for? I hadn't even see the doctor. Again It the policy. I decided to leave based on this initial experience with his office staff. After I left I received a call from his office to state the doctor would see me with my $50 co-pay and the receptionist was new and made a mistake. I must say that if it wasn't for that staff member that I previously mentioned, I would have given Dr. Tapadiya's office five stars because now that I've experienced his bedside manner and that of the REST of his staff, they really have excellent service. I encountered said person again and she was courteous this time so I guess that it's been addressed for which I'm glad. Customer service ranks high for me. Dr. Tapadiya personally is a caring physician who does not treat his patients like a number. He takes his time to talk and address patient issues even though his practice is busy. There was also little to no waiting time to be seen by the doctor when we went. I also appreciate that his office can do in-house x-rays in a matter of minutes which really cuts down on the waiting time. I broke my wrist. I mean seriously broke my wrist. Dr. Tapadiya did the surgery, and I have had a perfect outcome, which was far from assured at the time. Dr. Tapadiya's surgery was so skillful that I did not need painkillers the next morning after the surgery, or ever again. Let me say that Dr. Tapadiya's physical therapy team, Sunny and Heera, are both wonderful too. They have given me a real appreciation of the value of physical therapy. My wrist is essentially as good as new, due in no small part to their skill and dedication. Overall, this entire office from Dr. Tapadiya on down, is a delight to deal with. read more

I'm not giving the surgeon one star. Dr. Tapadiya is nice and attentive, however you get this rushed feeling being around him. I know he's a thorough man, but you just feel rushed. I'm giving the one star to his staff. They're HORRIBLE. They don't return calls, even if you've left five messages begging them to call you back to schedule surgery, only to get a message a couple of days later telling you that I have you scheduled for surgery the next day. I guess better late than never... Riiiiiiiight. My dad was billed for a lot of the services b/c apparently his insurance did not cover much. The bills were piling up so fast, it was hard for us to keep up. We were able to work out a deal that would allow us to pay $800 in cash of the $1300 bill with the remaining balance being written off. It's been seven months and apparently the some of the staff still don't understand this write-off so my dad is STILL getting bills from the office. I'm glad my dad's arm has healed relatively well and that we will not be needing to come back to this establishment. Just thinking about the staff (primarily, Connie) makes me shudder with dread. NEVER RETURNING. And if you can, chose a different surgeon with better staff. It's great to have a surgeon who knows what he's doing, but if I'm not getting the help and support from the staff, healing just isn't as much fun. read more

My father has been going to Dr Tapadiya since around 1990. He's done both knee replacements, both hip replacements and replaced the worn out parts in both hips. He's allways been very friendly , listens to your concerns and is quick to get things done. He is also on the Bloodless surgury program which in my research makes him an excellent Dr. The staff has always been very friendly and really work hard to make sure your wait time is low. I had back injury and lot of pain on hip. They are extremely busy and I waited for 1.5 hour. Dr Tapadiya is a very good doctor, examined and explained to me very well. Took MRI and needed physical theropy. They only have one person doing it named Brian. I had appointment Monday at 8:30, I went there and surprise! Office was closed all dark inside. I was furious, I was in a lot of pain, made it here, yet physical theropist was not even there! Dr came at 8:45 after surgery, opened the door let me in, we both checked the schedule and files says clearly 8:30. I asked what happened, he didnt know. Then Brian showed up at 8:50. This young man must be up late Sunday night and slept in, let patient waiting outside didnt know whats going on in pain. He lied that his schedule was 9, I double checked with scheduler Rena, she said she told him 8:30. This is very un professional of Brian. Since he was the only one there, they over booked patients, so he was doing 2-3 patients at the same time, just told me to do some exercise. I could do them wrong and wouldnt know, since he was with other patient. Receptionist tried to help sometimes, but she is not trained or licensed PT. My recommendation is if you see doctor Tapadiya, DO NOT do physical theropy here, there are lots of PT places out there do 100% better job, so you get proper care, and worse yet with theropist no show like me. read more

On December 23, 2014 I was visiting CA when I fell and did serious damage to my wrist. I went to Hoag ER and was referred to Dr. Tapadiya for possible surgery. I called his office and was immediately given an appointment for the next morning. X-rays were done in his office and he went to great lengths to get me scheduled for surgery the same day (Christmas Eve) at Fountain Valley Hospital. Doctor Tapadiya was very thorough when showing me my x-rays and explaining what needed to be done and why. He was very concerned because I could only stay an additional week for one follow-up appointment before returning home. I highly recommend Dr. Tapadiya. He was courteous, thorough and I received excellent care. His staff was also very kind and treated me. I never felt as though he were in a hurry, he drew a picture of what he saw in the x-ray so I could better understand the injury. The wrist healed beautifully and I have full function with no pain. Dr. Tapadiya is a fantastic and caring surgeon. read more

I am a retiree who fell twice in two days last year, breaking my kneecap and my wrist. The second fall, which broke the wrist, was more catastrophic, and required a 911 call. The paramedics took me to the hospital, where the emergency room staff put a splint on the wrist and admitted me to the hospital. They called Dr. Tapadiya, who visited me that evening and explained his diagnosis and plans for surgery. The kneecap was broken in 2 places, the wrist in 7. On subsequent visits prior to surgery, Dr. Tapadiya spent a lot of time explaining to me and my family what he planned to do and why. The night before the surgery, Dr. Tapadiya removed the splint and manually straightened my wrist, which had been bent into an S-shape in the fall. It was very apparent from the way he straightened it -- nearly painless -- that he was highly skilled, so I felt quite fortunate to get him as the on-call specialist. He installed hardware in both joints so that I could place full weight on the knee with a brace right after surgery, and could use the wrist again not long afterward. He had me transferred from the hospital to an acute rehabilitation facility for several days, after which I had physical therapist visits at home for a few weeks. After several weeks I began out-patient therapy at Dr. Tapadiya's clinic in Fountain Valley, and went there for several more weeks of treatment from both of the physical therapists in his clinic. Recently I had out-patient surgery by Dr. Tapadiya to remove the hardware. Everyone I encountered in Dr. Tapadiya's clinic in multiple visits over the past year -- the doctor, the office staff, the nurses, the X-ray technician, and the physical therapists -- was professional, friendly, and highly skilled. I feel very fortunate that Dr. Tapadiya was the on call orthopedic surgeon when I was taken to the emergency room. I would recommend him to anyone, and would want him to treat any member of my family who needed orthopedic surgery. read more

My Wife started our relationship with this fine surgeon about 8 years ago, he has done 3 meniscus tear repairs for her and not wanting to be left out it was just my turn for the same thing. Dr Tapadiya is associated with an outpatient surgical center in Costa Mesa that is awesome. I know each person, injury and surgery is different. But I had surgery on a Tuesday, working from home Wednesday, climbing stairs Monday and almost normal gate with 2 weeks. The Doc is great, his staff is great. He trully takes the time with each patient and explains everything including the MRI pictures. From first appointment set, MRI and then to surgery was a little over a week, nobody moves that quick to make things happen these days. Dr Tapadiya, thank you for your dedication. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Tapadiya's. in October I had a shoulder replacement that has left me with no use of my left arm and hand, due to a crushed nerve. I have gone from a self supporting, to now having to relies on other people for help. Besides it being very painful it has been costly. I'd like to thank to Dr Dilip Tapadiya and Dr. Minal Tapadia for the best care they did to me. The staffs are nice and very helpful too. They will always give you a smile even though they're tired and busy. I had an achilles tendon surgery from my previous doctor about a year ago that not healed properly. I had honestly lost hope until i was referred to Dr. Dilip Tapadiya's care. My consultation with them went smooth and they answered all my questions and concerns in detail in a way i could understand. I realized the serious condition of my case that was due to a severe infection. They work very well together and gave me confidence that i was being cared for as best as possible. I went through a second surgery for my achilles tendon to fix the first instance and to make further repair. Several months later, i could already feel the difference- my wounds are healed and i am comfortable with my mobility. August 19,2011 Two weeks ago I wrote a review and it seems to never have posted. When it comes to Dr. Tapadiya, there is so much I could say. Then I come on here and see two reviews that I completely disagree with. We must remember that everyone is different , you can't please all the people all the time and some people you will never be able to please. I have dealt with a lifetime of medical issues, pain and doctors. It is hard to remember, especially if you are in pain, that doctors are not SUPERHUMAN. Doctors are humans just like you and I and are not perfect. That said, I honestly believe that Dilip (Dilipchandra) Tapadiya, MD comes pretty close. In my opinion I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER ANOTHER ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. At 18 mos old I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was cared for by my Pediatrician growing up until the Arthritis went dormant at the age of 12. Fifteen years later it came back in a different form (a disease called STILLS) and I almost died. I met Dr. Tapadiya in December of 1990 during that stay. It wasn't until March of 1991 that I actually went to see him about my right knee which was bothering me the most at that time. That month I had arthroscopic surgery on that knee. Little did I know that would be the beginning of a VERY LONG HISTORY of surgeries with the talented skills of Dilip Tapadiya. Between March 1991 - June of 2011 I have had numerous surgeries all with Dr. Tapadiya. I have bi-lateral (rt & lft) total shoulder replacements, a fused rt wrist, bi-lateral total hip replacements, had 2 arthroscopic surgeries on my rt knee, finally did a total knee replacement, have had surgery on my rt ankle, had tendon surgery on my lft ankle twice and several surgeries on my lft foot for fractures. Every surgery I have had were absolutely necessary. Being on Prednisone for most of my life really did a number on my joints. Each and Every surgery Dr. Tapadiya has done for me has only improved my quality of life. He does not jump right on to doing surgery unless that is the best or only option. My rt knee is a great example. Arthroscopic surgery helped it and allowed me to not have to have an evasive surgery for many many years. When it came down to it in 2008, we made the decision to replace it because we felt Arthroscopic would just be a "bandaid" at that point. I was 27 in 1991 when my first surgery was done and am now 48. Thanks to Dr. Tapadiya, for a person with such Chronic Arthritis I live a very full and active life. There are times you have to wait in the lobby a little longer than usual but, it is usually due to an emergency he had to handle. If it stresses people out, they can always reschedule. Wouldn't you want and expect your surgeon to come ASAP if you had an emergency. I will tell you what, I do. As a matter of fact, the first time (I have done this 5 times) I dislocated my rt artificial hip he left his own birthday party to come to the hospital (on a weekend) and get me in the OR to manipulate it back in place. Dislocation of an artificial joint is EXTREMELY PAINFUL. If it would have been during the week and office hours (which later on it was) I would expect him to get to the hospital ASAP. I tell people I hear complaining in the lobby about waiting...."I am sorry, I couldn't help but hear you and was wondering if this is your first time here?" Usually it is "Yes" then I explain how wonderful he has been to me and what a difference he has made in my life. I close with telling them...."To me, the Best is Worth the Wait." As for the staff, everyone is different and we are bound to clash with some personalities we meet in life. I am very impressed with the staff he has at this time. The individual earlier that had an issue with a staff member needs to remember.... we don't know what was going on in that persons day, what issues they were having. Yes personal problem should not overflow into your professional life but, how many of us can say we have absolutely never let that happen. Remember people...we are all human! I happen to have a lot of respect for that same staff member. If I call with a concern or in need of something that is important to me, I don't have to worry because I know she will take care of it. The fact that in his office they have x-ray facilities, MRI facilities and Physical Therapy facilities makes life a lot easier. The fact that he works completely on his own with no Physicians Assistants or Associates is a plus for me. A friend of mine went to a different surgeon (against my advice) had a knee replacement and had some issues after. When she had the initial consultation and the surgery she saw her surgeon. Every other time she had to go in she saw a PA or Associate. Not the personalized service I want. I Trust Dr. Tapadiya so much he has operated on my one & only daughter, my husband, my older brother and several friends. I wish EVERY DOCTOR was as talented,compassionate and sincere as Dilip Tapadiya! read more

Recently my husband had a second knee replacement done by Dr. Tapadiya. The results were outstanding with a better than expected range of motion. The reason is Dr. Tapadiya has traveled across the United States to learn the latest technology in joint implants and reconstructive surgery. Due to his technology, patients come to him from all over the world. In addition, he is highly recommended by our other physicians. Unfortunately, I had to visit Dr. Tapadiya after fracturing my ankle playing roller derby. He was recommended after my emergency room visit at Hoag Hospital in Orange County. Although, he was not in my network, he and his excellent staff re-enforced my decision to stay with him even though I had to pay higher out of pocket fees. He is worth paying for! I had a bi-mal fracture which required 2 screws/washers, a plate and 9 pins. My ankle was "shattered" and there was a fear that I'd never be able to take stairs normally again. The surgery was scheduled at Newport Surgery Center 2 days after the initial break and although the recovery pain is something I never want to endure again, if I had to, I'd see Dr. Tapadiya. The surgery took less than 1.5 hours and within 3 hours, I was awake, aware and due to the nerve blocker, was not in pain. His recovery recommendations were spot on and although certain amounts of pain were expected, I never felt completely debilitated. He set recovery expectations and they were spot on with timing and mobility. With physical therapy and regular follow-up visits, I am now back to skating, hiking and can walk the stairs normally. And compared to other skaters with similar breaks, my scars are very small and smooth. I recently had my hardware removed and honestly, am a bit sad I won't see him or his office staff anymore. If you have to see him for any ortho reason, do it! He's the best. read more
