I have been a loyal Dillard's customer in Denton, Texas for decades as well as my Mother and late Grandmother. Honestly, I'm not known to write a negative review for any business but I feel it's necessary due to the horrible customer service I experienced this evening. I was shopping for a pair of earrings with plenty of time before closing and a representative named Taylor and her co-worker stated the store was closing instead of offering assistance with plenty of time to spare. Taylor proceeded to scurry over to a distant register and proceeded to yell across the store from one department to another department wanting to ring out my one single item I was purchasing. I truly could not believe my ears. I have a time stamped receipt to show I was not past closing time. I have never seen such awful behavior from anyone in the service industry. Both of these employees were extremely rude, immature and unprofessional. Their demeanor and 'mean girl' attitude was ridiculous and absolutely not necessary. I must say, I'm also in the service industry and being a business owner in Denton, I completely understand employees are difficult to find. However, employees such as Taylor and her associate are detrimental to a business and would not last long at my company. I know many employees at this particular store and they all know I'm a pleasant and easy to please customer and if this were my business I would want to know if any of my employees were disrespectful in any way. I am thankful for the friendly employees every time at Dillards. My favorite employee is Shirley at the Lancome counter. Shirley matched lipstick and make-up to my skin tone. Shirley helped me shop for nice fitting and basic wardrobe pieces. Shirley is also a good model of looking nice, professional, and cheerful. The people who work here are really nice but this is the scariest grossest store I have ever seen. The building looks like it hasn't been updated any in 30 years. The carpet is really nasty & there are scratches, chips, and moldy nasty spots where dust has collected. The selection of clothes is limited and overpriced. Dillard's is one of my favorite brick and mortar retailers and I am quite fond of the Denton store at the Golden Triangle Mall. I love coming here on New Years Day every year when they begin their most amazing sale of the year. Typically many items are 40-60 percent off, and then they take another 50 percent off of that. It is a little hard to do the math in your head, especially after New Years Eve and all, but suffice it to say it is always a pleasant surprise at the register! Obviously the store is always pretty crowded on days like this, but the staff handles it all well and makes it a pretty good shopping experience for everyone! read more

First of all I am an older guy who has spent 1,000's over the years at Dillard's buying suits, shirts, shoes, etc. My wife continues to shop there for clothes for herself and grandkids. I just purchased and returned two shirts that were reduced in price from about $80 to around $27, I made the mistake of washing them before we went on a trip to London for a week...they shrunk to the point that they were unwearable. Obviously because it was Dillards I had full confidence that I would be able to return them with no issues as the quality of the material was garbage. I was informed by the very arrogant manager that under normal circumstances they would not return my money due to the fact that they have been washed, however because they had issues with this brand in the past she would approve my refund. I have 2 question 1) if the product was a problem what were they still selling it and 2) what has happened to the Dillards of very high customer satisfaction and service? I bought almost $500 in shoes back in May. Went to return defective Michael Kors wedges that snapped at the seam after only wearing them for less than an hour. Shoe department sales associate said it had to go on a gift card because it's been over 30 days. Got manager involved and she told me the same thing. Argued with me about them being defective for a half hour and refused to put the money back on my card. I took the gift card and went to Customer Service asking for a store manager; the customer service lady called the same manager I had been dealing with and stated the Assistant Manager is in an orientation and Manager is gone. They will sell you defective merchandise and force you to use that money at their store still. I will NEVER shop here again. Horrible customer service. read more

We were doing some Christmas shopping today and had our arms full of items from five different departments in the store and then the guy from the shoe department chased us down and said wait wait, you need to check out at each and every department you have shops from which were five departments, and asking us to check out in five different places and we were still shopping. We handed him all of our items and said forget it we're not shopping at Dillards anymore if you expect us to Check out more than five times just to get our items purchased. Mens Department manager is by far the worst person I have ever seen manage and I've been in retail for 15 years. Her tone/demeanor is very rude and I would hate for my child to be under her management, I overheard her talking bad about different types of customers which is very unprofessional in that type of environment. Do not buy shirts from here! I was sold a shirt for $60 without being told that it was a dust, hair, and dirt magnet. I found this out too late as now they will not let me return the shirt after it was worn. When I first tried to return the shirt I was told it was not in returnable condition and to use a lint roller. An hour later I returned with a lint roller and cleaned up the shirt just to be told that I still cannot return it by a sarcastic employee. This was a huge waste of time and money! Clearly Dillard's does not care about their customers, only making more money. Do not shop here! Do yourself a favor and buy clothes online instead of wasting your time with this BS. read more

I've never had a bad shopping experience in this Dillard's lately I notice the service is a bit better at not following you around when you are shopping like you are about to take something. The reason I give Dillard's 2 stars is because the dressing rooms are FILTHY!!!!! The carpets are stained and dirty, the whole dressing seems like is being held by duct tape, there are clothes everywhere on the floor, there is not even a rack to leave behind go backs, but what made me completely disgusted was how filthy the vents were and the fire sprinklers it looks like they have not been surveyed in years which make me really uneasy. Got accused of stealing even though as soon as I noticed I walked out with something I IMMEDIATELY called informed them. They said they couldn't take a payment over the phone. So I went back where I was greeted with a police office. I had walked out with a $22 item. I paid for the item. And I apologized. I had many things in my hands. Cali, the men's department assistant manager, said "oh yeah we already know you took it." Well if they said they knew why did no one try and stop me? Why was I greeted with a police officer for doing the right thing? Feeling high offended I called to speak with her manager, Israel, who didn't help. Moving forward I called a friend who works at the corporate location in Little Rock, I was then asked to email her the details. I went back to get all the information I needed and I was told that it didn't matter that Israel reported to no one. And that I was lying because I didn't know anyone for corporate. Charity McIntyre at the Estee Lauder counter is outstanding! I needed a makeover for a special event, as well as a few new products to accommodate my aging skin and face. Charity knows her products. She is extremely professional and has fabulous skills. She made me feel at ease. She listened to me, accommodated my requests, and explained her techniques so that I can replicate them later (or try). She not only made me feel like a million bucks, but she performed a miracle by making me look 10 years younger. I give her my strongest recommendation. read more

I am writing to share my unfortunate experience with your store, and specifically my experience at the Denton - Golden Triangle Mall location. I purchased a dress at this location and unfortunately did not wear it for the function it was bought for. I have a newborn and making physical trips to anywhere is an extensive process, so I called to inquire about the return policy. I did this because I had a digital receipt in my e-mail, and clicking the return policy link took me to an online page without any indication of how many days your return policy is. So, I called the store. I was told that after 30 days, I would only be offered store credit. I was fine with that and understood this a typical policy. If I would have known I needed to make arrangements to get to the store before 30 days or within a certain time frame, I would have. That was the purpose of my call. When I finally was able to make a trip to the store with my infant, I was told that I could not return my garment. The sales woman was friendly and offered for me to speak to a manager. I explained my situation and was treated disrespectfully by the manager. I have worked as a manager in retail and understand the need to be firm on certain things, so I was being polite and was unfairly treated poorly. She indicated to me that there was a 5-7 day grace period to the 30 days but other than that, nothing she could do. This 5-7 day grace period was not previously mentioned to me. Then, I contacted Dillards via chat and was told no options as my return falls out of the 30-60 day window. This time window was never mentioned to me previously. Apparently, there are different return policy windows dependent on who I spoke with. Unfortunately, the individual who spoke with me over the phone when I called did not specify the time frame after the 30 days of when a store credit could be issued. I have never had such a poor and confusing experience. I have never in my life been treated the way I was treated at Dillards at a retail store, nor never been given any flexibility when expecting store credit. Especially considering there was an error on the stores end. I should mention the garment is unworn with tags and I have the receipt from April 1. Further, my customer service experience with Dillards is extraordinarily different than my experiences when shopping at Nordstrom, Saks, and Neiman Marcus, and that is where my business will continue without any remedy. If there is no resolution, despite the fact that I have been a historically loyal customer, I who will no longer be shopping at Dillards and will be sharing my experience with friends and family. read more

Cosmetics department-specifically Clinique cosmetics aid to be precise. I cringe at the thought of going to the Clinique cosmetics section at Dillard's in Denton. About every 4-8 months I need some makeup and the same cosmetics Nazi is there. I park my car and take a deep breath because I still have hope!!!! Then there's the same feeling of a catch 22, no matter if I buy a little or a lot. I get criticism about tone in particular to the colors I chose or not. Like I'm being sized up. Even the look over of my attire. Lot's of pressure about buying more than the $100 I was expecting to spend. Apparently, no free trial items anymore when you spend that much, it's spend half as much more and we're going to be mad at you if you don't. Now, there is another Clinique Nazi training under the current one. Yikes! A simple friendly, "No thank you," then they give each other a long look and pause because I didn't shell out extra $60 for more stuff. Well there's always Amazing Amazon without the dirty looks and pretentious atmosphere. Also, Sephora...plus I get free stuff with the same amazing cosmetics I purchased. I like Dillard's, so 4/5 to Dillard's but 1/5 for Clinique cosmetics department. So 2/5. I would never shop here again. The carpet was filthy and the store seemed so run down. The counters and registers looked dusty and like they have not been wiped down in weeks, made me very uncomfortable when closing my purchases. There were not many customers in the store and I wondered why, but I had questions and couldn't find anyone until 30 minutes after seeking help, so customer service lacked as well. This is, by far, THE MOST mismanaged department store I have ever been to. Not only are the clothing racks a disaster, but the staff is extremely rude. Especially the Clinique consultant, Rena. While trying to find my foundation match, I noticed one of the testers she was going to use was dated back to 2016. I don't have much makeup knowledge, but I do know that even unopened products don't last that long. When I brought it to her attention she became very hostile with me. When Macy's opened in Denton I stopped shopping at Dillards. I was recently reminded why I stop coming to Dillards. I went to purchase a specific item and decided to purchase a few Christmas gifts. They were having a Waterford crystal promotion...if you spent $100 you would receive a free ornament valued at $25. I made two purchases both Waterford valued at $186 and $86...I had to ask for the "Free ornament" and my salesperson happily told me they were out. However, she did not remove the display advertising the promotion and did not offer me a raincheck...I know it seems small but the level of customer service is just not there!! read more

You can get some really good sales here if you keep coming by and checking. They don't seem to advertise it but I love it when they have the cocktail dresses 65% off or more...three times I've been able to score hot fancy dresses that originally were pretty pricy for $30-45! I also stumbled on a half off Coach purse sale there last month and got a $300 Coach purse for a mere $153! I've always been satisfied with my purchases from here, the clothes are of good quality & some of my favorite name brand shoes came from here. I frequently walk out of the house and realize everything I'm wearing from my dress to my heels to my Coach purse to my Estee Lauder makeup all came from Dillard's lol. read more

I believe her name is Marilyn and she is the nicest and most helpful saleswoman I have ever met anywhere! I was buying my wife an outfit and no clues and this wonderful woman was patient and helped me with everything I needed all the time with humor and a smile! That goes a long way in my book! Every time I am in the store the only thing said to me is someone asking if I am ready to check out. Every once in a while someone might say hello, but maybe every 3 trips. For never having customers, you think they would want to promote customer service. The last shopping trip sealed my decision to just make the drive to another mall. If you are fine with what seems like sales people going out of their way to not be helpful and talk among themselves, then it's fine.
