Dillon's only women's-only day is Monday, which makes it hard for my schedule to accommodate, but I finally made it! When you arrive, the door is locked -- you'll need to ring the doorbell. Staff will open the door for you and are very welcoming. It's basically a big and simple locker-room that has access to two types of steam rooms, dry and wet. $30 gives you 2 hours. And there is a lounge area for you to take a breather in between your steam room sessions. Personally, I prefer the dry steam room. I tend to sweat much more. They have the option for massages too! Neck & feet. I got them both. Each $15 for 15 minutes. It was soooo relaxing. The lady who gave me a massage was so nice and has a calming presence. Even though I could hear all the noise, chatter, blow dryers going off in the locker room, the massages were so relaxing, I almost fell asleep. They provide you with slippers, a towel, and a locker for your belongings. Everyone seems to know each other - It's a very social environment. I ended up chatting with a very nice lady in the lounge area as I cooled off before my last sweat session. I totally recommend. I hope to have another free Monday soon to get a session in. You will feel so relaxed after a few hours of sauna & steam and on top of that, you will also enjoy some great conversations with other patrons. Looks a little sketchy on the outside but I really like the environment for a couple reasons. Friendly, inexpensive, and straightforward my style completely. The best part, it's straight as in you can just chill as dudes, make good conversation, and there is nothing sexual about it. It's refreshing as a gay guy but gay guys are welcome, in fact seems like everyone is from all walks of life which really makes it special but in a chill way. I was kind of surprised. I am a middle class guy who can't afford to spend $1000000 on Newbury every day. So to dive into a sauna for 2 hours, enjoy the heat, humidity, etc reminds me so much of the Korean Days Spas I would go in LA or NY which I 100% recommend. It's great because it's low key and no frills. Definitely going back. I really like being surprised when you think of something on the outside and it's really good on the inside. You get a locker. I'm a very big fan of Russian Steam Bath (banya). When I was in Russia I used to go to the steam bath each Sunday. When I moved in the USA it was a problem to find something the same since here people prefer sauna. My friends, who live here more then 10 years, told me about this place. Firstly I thought that it should be the same with sauna. But when I get inside I felt that smell of real Russian steam room with hot stones, and oak and birch brooms. It was amazing. Service is very good too! The price already includes bath towel, flip flops, shampoo, shaving cream and etc. So, you should take very good mood and relax. Talk about a hidden gem! I've heard about this place and just never got around to checking it out. It's really great! The staff is super friendly and accommodating, the other clients embrace that communal and friendly hammam vibe filling the place with casual chatter and laughter, there are price friendly massage and facial services available for booking - really you can't go wrong. On ladies night your entrance fee gets you access to a towel, a locker, slippers, and some free toiletries. Having a cold shower between the steam room and the hot room is absolutely fantastic. I have been here a few times. Before the pandemic, it cost $23 for unlimited time. I usually would stay about 3 hours. Now the price is $31 for 2 hours. Per hour, the increase went from about $8/hr to 15.50/hr. A 50% increase in price. But. . . no new towels, no new chairs, no free waters. I can say a lot about the way some people are treated. It's a steam room and a dry sauna. The middle room is 4 showers room. It's "do it yourself" kind of place, nothing special. The owner and some other ladies have a thing against moroccan ladies. For moroccans, Hammams are part of the everyday life. Going to the dillon's russian bath, is just to sweat and scrub oneself. Lisa, the owner, does not like when moroccans act as moroccans. She, with the help of some other ladies, always find a way to make it hard on them. She is racist, so the other ladies. Everytime it's a different subject. She is never happy. All she has is a bathroom, people go to clean and exfoliate. Too much racism, for no apparent reason. First time, large free parking, was met at the door by friendly staff, had my temperature taken, hands sanitized. Received a great tour, assigned my locker. What I liked was that it was clean and the steam room and sauna were very hot, everybody used masks in the common room, and social distanced. Great first time, excellent staff. A delightful little piece of dirty old Boston. Locals and old timers come to steam and chat. Very neighborhood-like vibe. Complementary soap, shampoo, and razors for the shower. On top of all that, cheap and clean, though the building definitely shows its age. Monday night: Ladies night. :) To use the Sauna and Steambath, shower = $17. Add $25 for a half-hour massage or $45 for an hour-long massage and you have your Monday night MADE. This is not a fancy place. Down to earth, very clean. I wouldn't say "run-down", just not recently updated. When you check in you get a towel, flipflops and a key for your locker. You undress. Don't be shy. The German in me rejoices here because there is no false shyness here. Butt-naked works for all. it's a great community for women. A bit cliquish. a lot of women have come here a long time and I wouldn't say they are "easy" to break into...so i go with a friend who is a long-timer and I am always squared away. Never had a problem getting a massage even showing up on the same night. Massages here have always been fantastic. Yes, they are in a communal room but I couldn't care less. Every Monday night from Labor Day weekend to Memorial Day weekend it's Ladies night at Dillon's. If you're shy...you don't want to go here. The locker area is basically right out in the open next to the reception desk. The place is a little rundown looking but clean and neat. It's totally old-school with a large steam room with a eucalyptus cup scenting the air. There's a great old stone sauna that's huge. In between the sauna and the steam rooms is a communal shower/sink room. In addition, they offer massage and waxing on Monday nights. The massage room is upstairs and it's communal. There could be up to 4 massages going on in the same room. A little weird but cheap just the same. I doubt very much the massage therapists are licensed but there are a couple there that are great just the same. I haven't been there this year yet, but pricing was $17 for the night starting at 4pm - 9pm. There are some women that have been going there for 20 years. Often times you'll see 3 generations of the females in a single family there. This is owned and operated by a women which is all the more reason to go. read more

Beware as you enter that the locker room is right out in the open on your left. Get used to seeing more than an eyeful! The Front Desk is straight ahead this is where you get your locker key and towels, I recommend bringing your own flip flops but they do have shower shoes there. This also where you can sign up for a massage or facials. The Steam room is awesome, so freaking hot, same with the sauna. Bring plenty of water, body scrub, facial and hair masks and body lotion. Everyone is welcome at Dillon's, as long as you enjoy a very eclectic social crowd of men who glory in the cleansing-healing power of steam and the purification of a sauna which is huge, has thick concrete walls and live steam reminiscent of the Sanduny banya in Moscow, Call ahead to book a massage. Went a couple of days ago. It's a great, super-relaxed atmosphere. To answer the obvious questions, yes there are a bunch of naked men running around with and without towels, and no, it doesn't feel weird at all if you can think/act like a grown man. I'm always looking for places to thaw my bones in the winter. Well, here's one. Dillon's has a skin-searing steam room, and if that's not your thing, a milder room, where people hang out, get beaten with a leaf broom (an exfoliation treatment called a platza...I think it's about $8), yak with their neighbors, mothers, grandmothers, and sweat. I've also seen the occasional person shaving her legs or doing some other bit of personal hygiene (I went on ladies night, which is mondays, I believe). They provide slippers, a locker, and several towels, and you can spend the evening sweating, showering, and lounging. Upstairs, get the cheapest massage this side of the Somerville Massage Institute. If you are shy, or freaked out by fleshy naked locals, this might not be for you. Many women do wear bikini bottoms, actually. This is also not a spa. It's fairly bare bones, yet homey...kind of like someones comfy trailer. There's a whole tv lounge where you can stretch out, drink water, and smoke cigarettes while watching game shows or reading trashy magazines. It's cheap, the gruff but friendly employees are helpful, and it's a whole scene you probably never knew about, unless you grew up in Chelsea, or perhaps Russia. read more

It is perfect for someone like me since there is no glitz and no frill. I am here to get a nice treatments, steam, and relaxation. The massage was decent with some adjustments that I needed. There are some cruising going on and I acknowledged but was not interested since this is a family oriented place but some still made it quite obvious. The Russian therapist need a breath mint and next time I'll get some for him (I hope he isn't offended). It is recommend that you bring your own robe and amenities since few low quality ones are provided. That said, I will definitely return because the treatments is better than many of the five stars spas. read more

I checked this place out back in June, when I was in Boston also for my first time. I had some spare time one of my days there, a chilly and rainy one, and I wanted a way to unwind before starting my intensive summer job and then grad school. With the quick aid of GoogleMaps, it was easy enough to find, using public transportation in my case. I was the first one there that day, got there right at the start of business on a Friday. The owner was kind enough to show me around, explained how it all worked. Beating the crowd and it being my first time at a banya/schvitz/steam bath in general, I kept it modest at first with a towel around me in the steam room and sauna. Other guys started coming in, with no towels on, or anything else. At first, it was a little weird, but once you start striking up or joining conversations with guys, it's all good. Clearly, this place has regulars, but they are so welcoming to new guys you'll feel like you've lived in the neighborhood almost as long as they have, even for me, who was the youngest there for most of the time by at least fifteen to twenty years. After the first round in the steam room, I felt comfortable enough to take my own towel off for subsequent ones and in the sauna, and personally, I think that's the best way to enjoy the steam and heat. I kept myself wrapped in the lounge area though, although not everyone did, Guys were falling asleep in their plastic lounge chairs, others debating sports and work and what not. There was a TV tuned to ESPN. There were snacks available, maybe some soda too, but I didn't buy any. I was saving up for the platza and a massage. The massage guy didn't show up that day, which was a little disappointing, but the platza was well worth the wait, and very reasonably priced compared to other places I've checked out online since. The guy doing the platzas was named Gary, and I wish I could have caught his last name, because he's a great guy who enjoys his work, is good at it, and if I'm ever back there I would request him. I went from a bit timidly clinging to my towel when I first got there to being comfortable being totally naked and being lightly beaten with twigs by another totally naked man, a stranger at that, lying variably face up and down in front of other also naked strangers, all within just a couple hours (you have to be naked to have the platza done); it only makes sense in a banya/schvitz. It's hard to describe the platza, other than it varies between feeling like a really warm, soft blanket is being pressed against every part of your body, taking a warm and soapy bath and scrubbing with a really soft loofah, and having a massage. Given the intense heat and it being my first time, Gary constantly was checking on me, asking if I was comfortable and if it was getting too hot. After the platza, I felt absolutely re-invigorated (Gary dumps cold water on you at the end), yet also completely relaxed to the point of wanting to fall asleep. Your muscles from head to toe are completely relaxed for hours. Between the platza, steam and sauna rooms, and the lounge, I spent a good four hours at this place, and easily could have stayed as many more if I hadn't needed to head back to meet up with a friend who I was staying with. After entrusting my dignity to strangers to such an extreme, I'll never be negatively self-conscious about my body again. You leave this place feeling manly and self-confident; I suppose it might make a good Father's Day or brother/close friend's birthday gift to share. Oh, and there's also a great mom and pop Salvadoran place across the street. I made sure to generously tip Gary and the owner. Great place. read more

The other men were very chill and no one made me feel weird. I like it because it's to the point, no snobs, no PC, just good heat and comfort. Big screen tv to watch your favorite programs, in the compnay of women. How great is that...It's clean, but old school. That's the charm of it. It is the hottest steam and sauna I have ever been to. $17. plus $8 for the palaza(oak leaf rub down with Ms Pattie) $45.00 for a good 60 minute massage(it is a large clean room with 4 other tables, who cares I fall asleep every time) $71.00 for a day at a spa! Oh yea, facials and eyebrow waxing too. You can bring a little nosh for after steam as well. LIsa the owner is great. I'm a regular member of Lake Steam Baths in Denver so was prepared for intense heat and steam.....I wasn't disappointed. The staff was so friendly and welcoming from my emails to schedule a massage to a lovely visit while I waited for my cab. The hot room was super hot! The steam was divine. I especially loved the cold shower IN the steam room. Very nice touch. My massage with Leigh was top notch! All the customers were friendly as well. I have been going to Dillon's for many years. As most of the others have stated it's nothing fancy but the price is right, the place is clean and the staff is pleasant and all have been there for many years (as long as I have been going-which says something in itself).Madelyn (at the desk) is always very helpful & usually good for a laugh or two.The masseuses I have seen, all have their own style, and all are excellent. The towels smell clean& fresh, as well as the flip flops( I usually skieve most things like that) but feel confident, having met the owner,she would make sure they were. The steam & sauna are super hot-bring lots of water! The common areas are open & some do walk around "uncovered" however I prefer to keep "toweled" & do not feel out of place for doing so.
