Have been going to this establishment for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. I've traveled to south east Asia many times and the Thai massages are on par. Professional, clean place. Recommend asking for a massage downstairs as the two upstairs rooms can be noisy with people walking in and out. I've also gone while pregnant with two different pregnancies and had amazing results with back pain/sciatica. You won't find a better price and service. This just wasn't the place for me. The rooms are very small and made me feel claustrophobic. I was expecting a foot massage in a comfortable chair but there was no chair. The employees wear masks and gloves (I couldn't even tell they were wearing gloves it didn't impact the massage at all), there is a plexi shield at the front desk, all clean towels are used, and with my mask on I felt very safe on the massage table. These women work MAGIC. They are a mix between deep tissue massage therapists and chiropractors. If you are looking for a basic relaxing massage where someone rubs your back this is not the place for you. If you are looking for someone to completely transform how your body (and mind) feels after realigning and getting every knot out of your body this will become your favorite place. Went for my first massage there a few months ago and thought it was one of the best massages I've had in Boston. Went last night for another 90 minute pregnancy massage and was not as thrilled with the service. I was in a room upstairs, which was much louder (w the noise of people coming through the front door etc) than the room downstairs, where I received my first massage. Also, I got gipped 10 minutes on my massage, which I wasn't happy about, but I didn't say anything when I was checking out (but I did give less of a tip than I normally would have). I paid in cash because the last time I was there, I saw them ask a guy if he was paying cash or credit, and he got a pretty good discount for paying in cash (I thought it was $15?) I made sure I brought enough cash with me, but they only gave me a $10 discount. Not really too great of a deal, but oh well. I doubt I'll return. read more

Amazing massage & great start to the week. I've never had a Thai massage and I figured, when in Rome, do as the Romans do so I got a 60 minute Thai massage with Kate. I immediately fell in love with the technique- walked on my back, used elbows and forearms, knees (I think? it might've been elbows but I was on my stomach so I have no idea!), hands, hot stones, hot towels and oils. At the beginning she asked me what area I wanted her to focus on and she asked a few times if the pressure was good but that was the extent of the conversation which is exactly how I want it. I called in to see if there was availability and I was in and getting a massage within 15 minutes. I live in walking distance so this could quickly become a weekly addiction!! I decided to try Thai Spa after seeing the good reviews on Yelp. All in all though I thought it was just okay. There was no pre-massage discussion asking what I was looking for or what the massage would go like, which I didn't like. Because of that they never asked me how much pressure I wanted. I'm a baby with pressure and prefer less, but they were walking on my back so needless to say, it was too much for me. They also never asked me during the massage if the pressure was good. I thought that was just a basic thing masseuses are trained to do. I had to speak up and ask them to ease off twice. My recommendation... If you like heavy pressure you will be very happy as they walk on your back. If not, you have to speak up and repeatedly remind them to ease off. read more

Extremely neat and clean. The moment you step inside, its like you're not even in Southie anymore. I was promptly taken into a quiet, nice and warm room that was spotless. The masseuse, Kate, was fantastic. I let her know what areas to focus on, and pressure level when she asked. She walked on my back (after asking if that was okay), not even sure what else but she focused so much on my stressed points that I feel like a new person. Thai massage is great: incase you've never been, there's some assisted stretching, accompanied by some walking on your back: they're very receptive to how much pressure you like. The staff is respectful and polite, the rates are really good, it smells good in there and the massage is THE BEST. I'm going back for my third time tomorrow. They're pretty flexible with scheduling, so call the day before. Parking is on street. Bring cash if possible to save a little $$. read more

I'm normally a fan of very traditional Thai spa (on the floor with clothes on) but this place has a western twist and was a fantastic massage. Better than expensive spas in the area. It's a no frills place, basic amenities, but the massage by June was incredible. I was 4 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding in all sorts of back pain and she was incredibly accommodating to getting me the right pillows to lie on and did a great job helping me feel better. I've been here twice for 90 minute Thai deep tissue massages. The first one was all right, better than your average massage in Boston. However, when I went yesterday for the second time, I received what may have been the worst massages in my life, worse than a crappy $50 massage I've gotten in NYC Chinatown a long time ago. In a nutshell, the masseuse had no idea what she was doing - it honestly seemed like she was massaging someone for the first time and making up things as she went. She slathered me in a ridiculous amount of oil, running her forearms randomly around my body, jumping back and forth between body parts and not repeating what was done on one side on the other. She also dug her elbows into my neck repeatedly, flung me about roughly, and grazed her nails into my skin throughout the process. She also stepped on my back in a way that didn't feel right, stepping across (instead of along) my spine and shoulders, digging her heels and standing on sensitive spots on her tip-toes. To wrap things up, she grabbed a nice dollop of Tiger Balm and massaged it into my hair and scalp. The next morning, I woke up with bruises all over my back. All of this left me in a lot of acute pain, and not the good sort of ache you get after a quality Thai deep tissue massage. It was a complete waste of money, and now I will need to spend more money getting a proper massage to sort out this mess.. For an excellent Thai deep tissue massage from experienced masseuses, I would recommend La Moon Thai Spa in Cambridge. I cannot recommend this place and will not be returning. read more

I had a fantastic first visit to Thai Spa today. I saw Katie (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) and she was communicative, accommodating, skillful, and sweet. She asked whether I had any problem/priority areas and what pressure level I preferred - and cared to check in every so often to make sure I was still comfortable. I've only had clothed Thai massage on the floor, but the fusion style here adds in oils, hot towels, hot stones, and back-walking, in addition to the assisted stretching and meridian-focused pressure I am used to. It was really great all together! Katie has mastery of both deep pressure AND gentle, relaxing touch. She really worked out my knots, and coaxed out some great cracks from my back! The linens were soft and clean, the massage room was also clean, cozy, and a comfortable temperature. The aromatherapy products used smell and feel great - I felt cleansed and light on my feet walking out with the light peppermint scent! Great customer service - I would definitely recommend a visit to Katie, I certainly will be back. read more

My review is mainly based on the location I went there and couldn't stay for more than 2 mins I didn't expect a fancy spa, but i think cleanliness was a major issue. Place was not organized and the smell was so unpleasant. It smelled like a dirty place sprayed with a lot of air-freshener. I had to order an expensive uber because I couldn't stay one more minute. I hope they solve that as it seems from the reviews they provide good service. One star for taking walk-ins and for the fact that i didn't actually get the massage, so it could've been good. read more

I went there for a relaxing massage, I kept asking the person giving the massage to be more gentle and it just didn't work. I could tell she wasn't a profesional masseuse after probably 5 mins. After that, she was hurting me for 60 mins straight. Installations were clean and it's kinda cheap compared to other places, ergo the 2 stars. I won't be coming back. EVER!!! read more
