This DTR location is an attractive spot, especially the garden/fountain area outside. It is a great date night or friends night out spot for sure. It was martini night which was a great deal on traditional martinis and the cosmo was delicious. I do love the location of this restaurant it's in the heart of Southend + it's very easy to walk to! When I walked in the server was very attentive, asked what kind of wine I normally like and what entrée I was planning on ordering to help make the best wine recommendations! When I told him I was planning on ordering the gnocchi, he made three different recommendations and allowed us to taste all three prior to making a glass selection! Wine was great + we definitely enjoyed the server's pairings. I would skip the food though! Gnocchi was mushy, tasteless and definitely was not appealing. We asked the server to surprise us for the second entree and the server stated the lamb was the most popular so we were expecting lamb but somehow ended up with salmon. Where do I even begin. I've been going to Dilworth for at least 15 years, and one thing I've always loved is the seasonal menu updates, so I'm completely open to change. Unfortunately, this latest menu feels like a big step back. So many longtime staples are gone: no fries, no Brussels, no burrata, no flatbreads, and even the steak has disappeared from the mains. What's left feels repetitive, with multiple dishes centered around the same basmati rice and salad combination. We also tried the two new "for the table" additions, and neither felt worth the price. The "caviar" is simply roe at $25, and the deviled eggs with roe at $17 were underwhelming. Unless some of the old favorites return or there's more variety added, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, aside from maybe Flight Night. read more

The bar was a big attraction, they also had great outdoor seating in the front and a really nice patio off to the back . Inside seating also nice. Big red couches were super cool ! The menu is awesome ! So many cocktails and ones I can't find in a lot of bars that I love . Brownie points for that! The food menu is great too, small plates and larger and nice bar food not your usual greasy fare. More Mediterranean vibe on the food. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were cool and laid back and engaging without being overly so. We had the Bijou and the vieux carre cocktails which I find hard to find in most really good bars. Here they were and made really well too. I know they require ingredients not all bars carry or can get in NC. We also had the Naan app which comes with tzatziki and the naan had a nice layer of zaatar spice on it . Went well with out drinks. I loved the Bijou . Such a good spirit forward drink. The bartender gave us a complementary shot of a bijou based drink. Had a little cinnamon to it but was good ! Nice touch as we were leaving ! We had a great time here before our next spot. Wow wow wow!! Now this is a new favorite spot! This place was so good. Tapas style wine bar with a huge cocktail and wine menu. The food was great and needless to say, the foodie in me loves tapas because I get to try a little bit of everything. There are so many things I want to try next time I go like the burrata, truffle mushroom flatbread, and phyllo cheese rolls. Great date spot or dinner with girl friends. A reservation inside the restaurant and the garden patio seem like two different places, with the garden patio having an outside wooden bar, koi pond with live fish, great greenery and nice lights to create a cute atmosphere. Food is more hand food than anything, but delicious and the drinks are unique and tasty. Be aware, allergies may flare up because of the outdoor setting with flowers, algae, and greenery, but it's worth it. read more

All I have to say is wow!!! Came here for a date night and would 100% visit again! My partner made a reservation in advance which I would strongly recommend as it was quite busy for a Monday night. I can see why though, the ambiance was so lovely- I adored sitting near the koi pond on the outside garden patio! The flatbread came out first (we ordered it without olives) and it was perfect. Loved my drink as well- it had great flavor (was not overpowered by the spirits used). The gnocci was delightful, although I agree with another reviewer than it could've used an additional flavor note to make the taste deeper/richer (gets a little redundant the more you eat). The Brussels sprouts were the real show stopper... they were bursting with flavor and the combination of the textures (crispy, melt in your mouth, plus a crunch from pecans) was unbeatable! Coming here since everywhere else was packed, I thought to try this place out since it was raved about. Dilworth Tasting Room is a neighborhood type of restaurant. Drinks, small plates, etc. It's a spot where you get drinks, get drunk, then walk home. They have a limited menu, tapas, and that's about it. If you're coming here for a full meal (as I was) this isn't really the type of place to do it. When we got here, we were seated. It was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. I think the seating in the basement contributed to that. This place used to be a billiards spot, but it has been transformed into a neighborhood restaurant. We got the Tuna Carpaccio, Truffle Gnocchi, Truffle Chips, Shroom Flatbread, and the Prosciutto flatbread. All of that we were full, but I think the experience was soured by the amount of waiting to get our food. I would say this place is again more focused on drinks and less about food. Bar food, and drinks is what keeps this place going and the food is definitely a secondary income. I would say this place is mediocre as far as that, but great for the vibes if you're bar hopping. I most likely won't be coming back to visit, but I would recommend this place if you live nearby and you want drinks with friends. read more

Had a girls night out at DTR at the recommendation of one of my friends. We sat inside due to it being chilly but apparently the patio has the best seating. We had a reservation as did most everyone else coming in. This place fills up quick! We each had a glass of wine to start. Glasses are in the 11-14$ range. There are at least 5 reds and 5 whites to choose from. There are also plenty of bottles available for purchase. We split a few small plates: the truffle chips, honey shrimp , and burrata. The food was really good and easy to share. I loved the big portion of burrata .. was definitely enough for 3 of us. The truffle chips were perfectly crisp and came with an aioli. Service was efficient but our main waitress appeared brusque. In fact when she approached us about our check we all looked at each other and commented that it felt like we were being kicked out. Dinner at DTR with the whole family! Did not disappoint. Kayla is a phenomenal waitress and treated us like VIP's. She goes above and beyond each time we come, but topped herself yet again. We met the amazing chef who creates the best whipped feta EVER and she was extremely kind to our 5 year old granddaughter, Airlie, with an umbrella in her juice and supported her impromptu "I'm going to be a waitress, too, tonight". After some years I finally decided to check out this restaurant to see if it would live up to all the chatter I've heard about it. The restaurant provided great service from beginning to end. Having this visit being my first, we went with the staff's recommendations. The drinks are top tier and the water is refreshing. Which is a good indication of what to expect. Started off with a Teppurr Tantrum then had another...This drink is a vibe. Next time I'll try their Old Fashion. Extensive wine list too for the brave. Drinks are pricey so prepare for sticker shock. Seating though comfortable, the couches did sits low to the table. Get in the habit of sitting up straight!! Chips were light and crisp and none were burnt. Truffle was mild in flavor. The Brussels sprouts weren't my favorite as they're not crispy. How it's prepared gives it a lack of texture. RiRa and Mizu have far better preparations. Disappointed in the lamb meatballs as they were dry and quite gamey but seasoned well. Consider offering few more pitas as well on that dish. Never had Gnocchi before and these were pillow soft. The dish was all one note and needed a texture to make it memorable. Go for the drinks and the vibe and definitely book a reservation. read more

We had reservations for DTR for Saturday at 6:00 PM, early dinner so we can go to a listening club later that evening. Service was awesome. Lonnice was an awesome server, and the support she received from the manager in the red velvet coat was totally supportive. It was clear that managers were there to support their staff to insure that the experience was awesome for us. Manager helped us with Wine Pairings and food groupings. Super helpful! The vibe was very laid back and not pretentious. Only additional comment I would make is that if you are a bigger diner, sitting in the area in front of the bar may not be the best choice as the spacing between tables and seats can be tight. This is the OG location as the server put it and I've passed it so many times but never visited. This spot is very quaint and intimate and romantic. It can be a girls night out or a hot date and night cap. Ordered the olives and chips and everything is shareable over either wine or cocktails. I've been dying to visit this place for a few months but reservations weren't available when I wanted to visit in the past . Reservation: Highly recommended. Reserve the patio if you can. Parking: 1/5 Horrible. Street parking is available but very limited. The restaurant is in a residential area which doesn't allow many spaces for parking. I had to drive around 3xs before I found a space. Cocktail: Pornstar Martini 5/5 it was sooooo good I had to order two of them Lamb meatballs: 4/5 the lamb meatballs were the perfect size and very tasty. The pita bread tasted delicious with the sauce from the meatballs. Brussel sprouts: 5/5 AH-MAZING the Brussels were cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce and pecans.Highly recommend Service: 4/5 Our waiter wasn't as attentive as I would have liked and we had to keep asking him for things. I decided to my good friend here and have a drink and a meal. The restaurant is small in size but there is an outside patio that being utilized by several customers. I decided to wait for my friend at the bar although I did have a reservation for two. The tables were really close to the other customers so I asked if we could sit at the bar instead. The hostess allowed for us to sit at the bar and then were quickly greeted by the bartender. They have good high quality ingredients. They used freshly squeezed oranges for my OJ in my drink. That was a nice twist from the overly sweetened OJ in the grocery store cartons. I ordered a vodka, OJ, and Pineapple for myself. To eat I ordered the Hanger Steak medium and my friend ordered the Truffle Gnocchi. My food came out in a reasonable time but my friend's food did not come out until I was nearly finished with my meal. The servings are not that big so we both finished rather quickly and then I decided to order an additional item. We then split the mushroom flatbread. If you are hungry when you arrive you will still want something else when you leave. Don't get me wrong, the food and drinks were great, but the portions left a lot to be desired. But this place is a good start to ones night if you are going to continue eating and drinking throughout the evening or day. read more

If you are hungry, I would not come here. Service is slow and it took approx 40 minutes for our food to be served. This place is more about ambiance and talking to your companions. Food - Shroom flatbread: this was a cheese pizza with some mushrooms. The truffle oil was overwhelmed by the amount of cheese. I would pass on this. Prosciutto and brie flatbread: my favorite of the night. It was a good balance of creaminess of brie, sweetness of the apricot, saltiness of the prosciutto, and bitterness of the arugula. Burratta / Bruschetta - Fresh cheese and tomatoes. Truffle chips - I'm not sure what we expected of this. It felt like store bought chips drowned in parmesan. The aioli was flavorful with the truffle. No truffle flavor was detected in the chips. Tuna carpaccio - my second favorite of the night. It was a good balance of flavors. The tuna tasted fresh. Truffle gnocchi - very garlicky, creamy, cheesy and truffle-y. It is enjoyable but it gets heavy the more you eat it though. I like neighborhood restaurants as walking to dinner is a great concept. We had a reservation for 6 people for 5:30 pm on a Saturday in July. They were very accommodating and willing to switch us from outside to inside (it was hot) back to outside (once we got there, it wasn't too bad) without a problem. The outside patio is gorgeous with café lighting and greenery. From the street, you can't even tell it's there! They have fans and umbrellas to keep you cool. Brennan was our waiter and expert sommelier. He was amazing. We had so many questions about wine for him and took the time to answer all of them. He gave us great recommendations and was so patient in discussing all the different wines and cheeses with us. We got a medium cheese board ($35), which normally comes with two cheeses and two salumis, but we did three cheeses and one salumi instead! We tried Bellavitano Espresso, Black Truffle, and Carr Aged Gouda. We liked all of them! It comes with bread, but we also opted to get the crackers too. Get the crackers! They're so good. For wine, I had the Red Blend ($12), which I liked a lot better than the Dolecetto ($11). Brennan let us try different wines before we committed. He really educated us and helped us understand what we like in wine. Seriously cannot recommend Brennan enough. Others in my party got the Margarita ($13) and Two Birds, One Stone ($15) and liked them. The second cocktail was really small though. I loved DTR. They have wine flights on Tuesdays! What I loved the most was her recommendations on food and wine which exceeded our expectations. She also introduced us to Brandon, their onsite Sommelier who definitely elevated our wine adventure. And last but not least... do yourself a favor and finish off this incredible foodie journey by ordering their desert "Bajadera", chocolate layered nougat with Nutella, raspberries and whip cream!
