We got on the walk-in list 30 minutes before arriving, but when we got there, the host told us it would still be about an hour wait. There were several "reserved" tables that remained empty until after we had finished eating, so I think the restaurant could benefit from a better reservation system with more accurate buffer times to accommodate walk-in guests. To avoid the wait, we decided to sit at the bar, and I'm glad we did because the food was amazing. The fried chicken and waffles were perfectly seasoned, and the waffle had a unique texture and flavor that reminded me of a combination of a traditional waffle and a soft pretzel. The cheesy potato cake was absolutely delicious. The fruit bowl was also good, but I wish they had been a little more generous with the blueberry pudding. The shrimp and grits came with large tomatoes, which may not be for everyone, and my friend felt the dish was lacking grits overall. She didn't feel like she got her money's worth. Would I go back? We ordered the "smoked" chicken, which tasted like boiled meat with the outside seared. The meat was dry. It was awful. It was also a very small chicken. This dish was highly recommended by our server. We also got the fried chicken. Half of it was burnt, meaning half of the same piece. How do you burn half of it? It was dry as wood chips too. I am not sure what the flavor was supposed to be since it was dry and burnt. How do you mess up chicken two ways? We ate at Haberdish for the first time today and had a wonderful brunch. The food is delicious, everything was so fresh and I felt like the flavor profiles were very thought out and intentional. Some of the best fried chicken I've had in charlotte, the biscuit was so soft and perfect, we loved the sauces we tried, and the bacon was cooked to perfection. I ordered the haber dish with a chicken thigh , macaroni and cheese"dressed greens" the chicken here is 70% fried breading and 30% stringy, unflavored chicken. the mac and cheese was decent! the dressed greens were literally cut off ends of romaine, dont waste your time. We also shared green beans and Brussel sprouts . the green beans were charred on the outside and undercooked ok the inside. The brussel sprouts were cooked to a crisp and lacked flavor. My boyfriend had the OG chicken sandwich and he couldnt finish/ stomach it, this includes the burned fries that were served with it. The restaurant has a very cozy interior and a nice covered balcony area for those beautiful days in Charolette. The service here is very fast, and we received our food pretty quickly after order.
