For larger groups (we had about 10-12 people) they would only allow 3 bills which I always find to be weird & the place was empty but hey house rules I guess lol. The group had pretty good reviews on food but I would recommend not getting the lamb sliders for brunch. For the price and size it should be listed as an appetizer. It was over cooked and literally an oversized bun on a small quarter sized lamb slider. Also for the champagne brand (I believe "André" or "Clarke"), very overpriced. I've been here three times before. This is also an updated review from five stars to three. We had a friend coming in from out of town and we raved about Spice. We had a great server and customer service was great-- the problem area was the food. We ordered the same thing we always get Korean wings, cauliflower bites, crab rice, and bang bang shrimp. Long story short, I want our money back or a better experience. The cauliflower bites were so small and broken down it could've been made into rice. Flavor was phenomenal but the cauliflower was definitely missing and just seemed like batter in a bowl. The bang bang shrimp-- y'all need to use large 16-20 shrimp with texture and serve them whole (proof they used to be see previous reviews video). Also they were small pieces and fried way too hard-- so CHEWY! The fact that they're now chopped into little pieces and fried is crazy, it takes away from the entire dish and again, you're eating fried batter mostly. The Korean wings?! The first time we had this they were glazed, flavorful, charred, and sticky with sauce (see previous photos). This sauce was runny, thin, and slid right off of the wings and left it flavorless and I had to ask for more sauce to get through it. My husband never leaves any wings behind and we left two. Came here on a Friday night for dinner. It was hits and misses for me. First the reception. The young ladies at the front were kind. We were running a few minutes late and they were accommodating and only required 50% of the party present to be seated which I consider fair. Our waitress was also kind and accommodating. The ambiance is cute. It's chic, dark, date or girls night out vibes. They have a small bar which had people seated there as well. The music however got louder as the night went on and the music was not appealing. Not sure what they were doing for with that - I think they do it on purpose so people don't linger. The drinks were good for what they are. These are moreso mixed drinks then crafted cocktails. But they were made well. They are PRICEY. $18 for a cocktail in Charlotte is high to me. As for the food - this is where a lot was left to be desired. The crab fried rice was the only dish I enjoyed. The sushi tasted off, the bang bang shrimp were cold, the jollof didn't meet expectations. I was told the cauliflower was good. I decided to drop by Spice after missing the brunch service at a nearby restaurant. I came to this restaurant as soon as their dinner service started, and despite that all of our food came out relatively quickly! All of the staff were so kind, and they were genuinely eager to assist us with anything we needed. Everything here was so delicious, I forgot that I was even upset about missing brunch somewhere else. The restaurant has a nice modern feel. I visited Spice for an early dinner on a whim. Since they had just finished serving brunch, it was pretty quiet when we arrived. My initial impression of the space was this was too fancy for an impromptu meal, but the staff was super inviting and made it a great experience. The high ceilings and modern decor made for an upscale vibe. Our waitress took amazing care of us from drinks to the last bite and made great suggestions as well. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked and my cocktail was balanced and tasty. For the meal we shared, I was more than satisfied. Stopped by Spice on a Saturday night with one of my close friends while I was visiting CLT, and honestly, the vibes were vibing. We got there around 11:30pm, grabbed parking just across the street, and headed in. There's a bouncer at the door who checks IDs and bags. Although it's a restaurant, it also gives a lounge-esque vibe so I understand the need for security. As soon as we walked in, I fell in love with the spot. Dim lighting, perfect temperature and not too crowded. Our waitress was personable and made everything smooth, which I appreciate nowadays. The music was at the perfect volume and the mocktails were top tier. The staff is super diverse and friendly, and I loved that it's Nigerian owned. You can really feel the culture in the space. Please note, Spice is reservation only on weekends. We were lucky to grab the bar seats but typically this doesn't happen. We ordered two rounds of sushi (four pieces for $19), truffle fries, wings, and a cocktail each. This spot is pricey as you can see by them charging $19 for four rolls. My date said the wings were a 6 out of 10, and I thought my sushi was 8 out of 10. The cocktails were perfectly made. This spot is a great place for dates or to attend with a group of friends if you intend to get shareable plates as it has more of a tapas feel. Food is so yummy! A little pricey but great for a special event. Tried a salmon roll, fried, ribeye, mash potatoes (10/10), corn and the wings. The steak is melt in your mouth and you get a good size steak for the price. Also did cocktails, you can personalize an espresso martini and we tried the lynchee martini if you like fruity. The service was great our server was super nice. We went for a birthday party, they had a birthday shot which was cool! Very underwhelmed with my experience here. Came on a Sunday night and so many items were sold out. The server told us it was a busy weekend but there should have been a sign posted on the door or the hostess could have warned us. The light on our table was so dim it eventually died. Visited a second time and I'm glad I did since I was less than impressed the first time I went. I went for brunch on a Sunday with my brunch group -(there were about 8 of us). Spice is beautifully decorated, ceiling to floor windows, plush seating and nicely decorated. The waitress that serviced us was polite, knowledgeable and took her time explaining all the menu items. I had the shrimp and grits that was outstanding. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the grits were creamy - just how I like it. "Oh my goodness " was the expression of the night. My friends and I couldn't stop saying this after every bite and every sip. The folks at Spice really have a great thing going on. Service was exceptional from the moment we entered. Our server was knowledgeable and offered her favorites as well as some of the most commonly ordered items. Unfortunately, the price was unreasonably high at $50 for what seemed to be a mini sized serving of crab fried rice and a pair of tiny tuna tacos. That was the base price of the food excluding the delivery fees and tip. The tab was actually $63 bucks YIKES! In addition to the small serving of rice, the crab was barely detectable. But I must say, the cilantro garnish was lovely as was the delicious mustard / wasabi dressing. Maybe dining in would be a better way to enjoy Spice. This was my first time here. I had a good time. I made a reservation for a get together with me and some friends. There is a parking lot across the street and a parking garage so plenty of parking. When I say the ambiance gives a sexy vibe you have to be there to experience it. The service was amazing our waitress always made sure we always had what we needed. The food was delicious. I'm sad I didn't take pics of all the plates we ordered. We had the steak, bang bang shrimp, chicken wings, chicken on stick, salmon on stick rice with crab meat (I think that's what was in the rice can't remember) all chefs kiss. I wasn't fond of the jollof rice. The only I would suggest is to be specific about where you want to sit at a table or lounge section. The lounge section is a long seat, decent size table with 3 or 4 square ottoman seats. It wasn't very comfortable the longer we stayed. I will definitely be back to visit. read more

Our waitress was knowledgeable and helped us pick out what we wanted to eat and drink. The aesthetics were super cute and vibey, we enjoyed sitting in a low booth for dinner but the tables are low. I've never given a two star to any place that we've been and here's why I'm going to do this. I truly hope this reaches management because I would love to see their success given there's not a lot over there.. I want to compliment the hostess. She was very friendly. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly ...after that the experience was just horrific. Start with there is zero beer... not that I'm a beer person but about 40 or 50% of my friends are. Also no NA options. Secondly, it was a Tuesday night at 5:30 with two couples in the restaurant and the music sounded like a Saturday night on Miami Beach ....I couldn't even hold a conversation. Third a simple sushi roll was $18. Even the small plates for the bar seemed overpriced for what they were ... it's incredibly expensive. To our surprise a simple vodka martini, which wasn't even full, was completely messed up and had ice chips in it. We were shocked to get the bill and it was $25 for a single shot of ketel one vodka with Harris Teeter olives.. I can't imagine any of this is going to create a successful formula. read more

They were filming content and asked if we would let them set up more camera/film equipment at our table. We declined but everyone was extremely kind and understanding. My wife and I stopped by Spice Restaurant in Charlotte hoping to enjoy a "return home from military service" meal. Although we did not have a reservation, we politely asked if we could be seated at a table with cushioned seating. The host explained that without a reservation, the only option available was the front area with bar-stool style seating. My wife calmly explained that we were hoping to sit in the main dining room. The host repeated several times that it would be difficult because they were booked and continued pushing the front seating option. I then showed my disabled military ID and explained that I was recovering from an in-service injury that required surgery, making bar-stool seating physically difficult. At that point, what I assumed was a manager stepped in and began explaining the "comfort" of the seating options, almost as if offering a medical opinion. That explanation was unnecessary and dismissive. After some back and forth, and clearly recognizing my discomfort, he eventually seated us at the table we originally requested. Before being seated, I was also asked to remove my hoodie from my head, despite wearing a Ralph Lauren polo hoodie and a Burberry scarf. While I understand dress standards, the timing and tone felt excessive given the situation. As we sat and enjoyed dinner, we noticed that no additional customers came in after us. The restaurant did not appear packed or particularly busy, which made the earlier insistence that seating would be difficult feel inconsistent with what we observed. To be fair, our waitress was kind and professional, and the food itself was enjoyable. However, the overall service felt unwelcoming, and other staff members did not seem attentive or interested in accommodating us. What stood out most was the lack of empathy. Those who serve this country and later live with lasting injuries do not ask for special treatment, only basic consideration and respect. That was missing here.
