We ordered up front: - 1 shu mai (5 pieces) = $5.99 - 1 shrimp har gow (5 pieces) = $5.99 - 1 turnip cake = $5.69 - 1 rice noodle roll with shrimp = $5.69 - 1 steamed BBQ pork bun = $5.69 - 1 chow mein = FREE (if you spend $30+) As mentioned above, this location has a bunch of awesome specials such as a free drink (thai tea, iced lemon tea, etc.) if you spend $20+, OR get a free chow mein if you spend $30+). The chow mein portion was pretty generous too. We probably waited around 10-15 minutes for our order. The staff members ended up putting our order to-go containers, but I clarified that we intended to eat inside, but all good (at least we can take the plastic containers to go). The cashier stopped by our table and apologies for the miscommunication and gave us a lemon iced tea as part of service recovery. It was no big deal honestly. Overall a great experience and my mom really loved the shu mai. The shrimp har gow was small and didn't look/taste too authentic. They also serve complimentary tea which is great! Found this little restaurant next to the Haven City Market food hall. It's a small mom-and-pop spot with freshly made dim sum and very reasonable prices. We ordered 5 dim sum dishes and spent a little over $30, which came with a free order of fried noodles -- more than enough food for lunch. We ordered the shu mai, shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, fried turnip cake, and beef rice rolls. The shu mai were giant, with 5 pieces per order, packed with shrimp, pork, and mushrooms. The shrimp dumplings were just okay since the wrapper was a bit too thick. The chive dumplings were pan-fried with a crispy outside and flavorful filling -- definitely one of our favorites. The beef rice rolls were the best dish of the day: silky, flavorful, and perfectly made. They initially forgot our turnip cake, but when it arrived, I asked for it extra crispy and they absolutely delivered. Thick-cut pieces with a crispy exterior and soft center. The free chow fun was surprisingly good too, full of vegetables with great wok hei flavor. Everything tasted freshly made and steamed to order. Great value overall. The only downside was the service -- the server was a little slow and not very attentive. We tried to pay for at least 15 minutes before anyone noticed us. Service was a miss the recent time we came, not enough plates and cups for our party of 3. Our food came at different times and the tea in the pot was very weak. The thai tea drink we ordered came mid meal and the turnip cake came sooo late and in a to go container. They also got our order wrong by giving us some baos which we didn't touch and had them take back and they tried to charge us for it. All the food tasted good though, the egg tarts are delicious! Came to Dim Sum King Master for a lunch break since I was craving some dim sum. I had ordered some food to go once with my wife for the Shu Mai and the Shrimp Har Gow and it was tasty. The location wasn't too busy at all at the time and I could sit wherever I pleased. They have a decent amount of booths and regular table seating. There's a lot of action going on during business hours, with walk ins, dine ins and delivery orders. The menu offers different menu tiers for their dim sum. The staff also offered complimentary hot tea. I ordered some Shu Mai, Shrimp Har Gow and Rice Noodle Roll with Shrimp. To not the Shu Mai has 5pc and other dim sum spots might serve 3 or 4pc on their orders. Each item came out at different times. As far as the Rice Noodle Roll it wasn't my favorite and one I might not order again. The Shu Mai and Har Gow were all up to par and delicious. Overall, service and food were fine. Our favorite item was the char siu rice rolls, which had thin sheets with perfect silky texture, and excellent flavor. The siu mai was plump and juicy with a nice bit of shiitake mushroom and no chunks of fat fillers. We were also impressed by the salt and pepper fish; the coating was light and crispy, while the fish was mild and tender inside. I enjoyed the subtle salted flavor of this dish, but to be fair since it is called "salt and pepper" fish, it was a little light on the seasoning. ​The chicken feet had a unique, sweet star anise flavor that I was not used to. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy this. The steamed pork ribs were tender, but mild in taste. I can't even remember what this tasted like anymore. We were already planning to order the stir fried soy sauce noodles, so it was a nice surprise when we learned that with their current promotion, It was complimentary for spending over $30. The noodles itself was missing that dry, 'wok hei' touch and included some non-traditional carrots. The flavor was still good while hot, but felt soggy towards the end. The brown sugar sponge cake was a complete disappointment, which was dense and rubbery. I typically make this homemade from scratch and was thinking I could get a good comparison. Would not recommend. I do think they made this fresh to order for us, and it came out within 20 minutes, which is impressive? Despite the poor product. I got their xiu mai, sesame balls, beef chow fun, cha shao rice, honey baked cha shao bao, and cha shao bolo bao to try. Can you tell I like cha shao? Anywaysss Their xiu mai was MASSIVE, perfectly juicy, bouncy, and umami. The sesame balls had a crisp nutty exterior with a chewy mochi interior and had plenty of sweet red bean filling. The beef chow fun had bouncy noodles, good wok hey, and lots of meat but could use a bit more salt. The cha shao rice could've used more meat but what there was was super tender, flavorful, umami, perfectly sweet and savory. The honey baked chashao bao had more of that amazing cha shao inside with a nice chewy, pillowy, sweet, bready bun. Came here to try it for the first time, and likely the last. While it's a decent one-stop shop to try new things, it isn't good enough to warrant a return visit. We ordered several dishes, but half of them arrived cold or lukewarm, which was very disappointing. For example, the ham sui gok--which should be hot and crunchy--was cold. The pineapple bun with BBQ pork was also cold. When a bun containing meat is served cold, it's hard to trust the quality. The subsequent items arrived along with the water and hot tea. We NEVER saw our server again. My guess is that he went to the back to help make our order--who knows? By this time, other customers came in for pick up and to eat in. We needed more drinks and utensils. The female server stood at the table next to us speaking in Chinese (guessing). She never even looked at us so I couldn't get her attention. I ended up getting up and getting my own water refill and utensils. Then I noticed a sign that says people are in training. I figured maybe this was why service was so poor. After dinner, I needed a box and the check. We sat for about 15 mins and saw no one. We didn't know if we go to the register to pay or they bring the check. There was no one to ask. We could have just walked out and they wouldn't have known. I pull out my phone and CALL the restaurant! The phone goes unanswered TWICE! I called a third time and the female answered. I say, "we are sitting at the corner table and need the check. So I come to the register or will you bring the check?" She is so confused and asks if I'm outside!!! I asked again for the check and she passed the phone to another person. The gentleman apologized and quickly came out to bring the check! My friend and I each put our credit cards on the check tray. He takes it, brings it back, and charged the entire meal on ONE CARD. My recent online takeout order from Dim Sum King Master in West Covina was ehh could be better. The convenience factor was a definite plus the online ordering system allowed me to set a pickup time, and my food was hot and ready right on schedule. I ordered a classic spread of chicken feet, beef noodle rolls, egg tarts, shu mai, baked BBQ pork buns, and beef chow fun (dry style). The egg tarts were a definite win; they had a nice flaky crust and a filling that wasn't overly sweet. The shu mai, baked buns, and chow fun were all solid and what you'd expect. However, a couple of dishes fell a bit short. The chicken feet were disappointingly firm and lacked the tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture I was looking for. Similarly, the beef noodle rolls felt a bit skimpy on the beef, with way too much green onions overpowering the dish. Overall while some items were great, others could use some improvement. Here you order at the counter: either for dine in or to go. Some items are made fresh, and some are ready on the steamer. I think it's a mom and pop shop, everyone's pretty friendly and the prices are about the same as anywhere else. It's a good place for something quick if you live in the neighborhood. The menu for dim sum is also limited compared to other spots but there are a few popular selections. They also have main dishes like fried rice and roasted meats. Out of every thing I ordered I only liked the shu mai and pork buns. I'm not sure if the food was made in house or pre bought/ machine manufactured. The flavors were just ok and I would only come back if I needed a quick fix because I'm craving dim sum and didn't want to drive out too far. Service here is exceptionally poor. The silent, but heard, look of anticipation as everyone waited to get the attention of service could not be ignored. I wasn't able to order their special even though I had asked to order almost immediately, due to it being past 11 am. The waiter was a young man, eager, but reserved, fully responsible for the entire dining area. This was an almost impossible feat. Well, we received our food, it tasted somewhat off. I've been to Dim Sum King twice and I'm never disappointed. I love the food and the service is pretty good too. My favorite at Dim Sum King is the the deep fried siu mai. Like any crazy Californian, I love a good fried fish and the fried siu mai dos not disappoint. It was flavorful, not too salty and it kept the nice moisture of a Dimsum dish. Next on my list was their chow fun, my daughter and I dig a good beef chow fun and they made a nice family style size dish that was very delish and the meat was so tender that I almost ordered a second one--but that might've filled me up faster and I wouldn't have been able to have the fried calamari, or the bean curd roll with oyster sauce. I'm usually intrigued by new dishes and sometimes they don't quite hit you the right way, but this was just perfect. They had a ton of other Dimsum dishes that graced their menu, but we couldn't order them all. I have to say, if you do manage to get to Dim Sum King Master, you have to try their deep fried salt and pepper shrimp, I like to think of that as crowning glory of seafood eats. My brother and I had it and my mom and I couldn't get enough of it! So if you're cruising around West Covina, stop in and enjoy a nice meal with really good service! We were heading for Haven Marketplace and decided to venture off that grid. Dim sum is worth venturing off. This was a Monday evening and an hour before closing. It was empty which was great for us. Welcomed immediately by staff and sat instantly. Just before we had a chance to check the menu, we were given a bowl of what would be their new summer dessert - sago with coconut milk, lychee jelly and lots of ice! Not too sweet which is great and really refreshing. Thumbs up for the new add to the menu this summer. Ordered the usual hargow, siumai, steamed dumpling, pork ribs and turnip cake. Unfortunately, they were out of bbq pork naps and steamed pork buns. That's the only reason for not having a perfect 5 stars. We just ordered the bbq pork a la carte to try their pork. The bbq pork is good but with a noticeable taste of honey. I'm ok with it but noting it for others that might prefer it without honey. The dumpling didn't have much broth spewing out but just enough to know there is broth - flavor is good. Staff is great it felt like they were all family running the restaurant. The place was clean and tidy and ready for a mad rush of people at 8pm (they close at 8 lol). Definitely will return because I have to have my bbq pork steam buns! read more

Also added a shrimp rice roll and what I call the "football". Everything came out to a little less than $30 and I had enough to take Togo. 1/12/25 - We arrived before 12 noon on a Sunday and luckily our party of 9 was seated in less than 10 minutes. It's a small spot, meant for parties of 6 at the most, but they accommodated our party by combining a couple tables for us. After 12 noon, a lot more parties ranging from 2 to 6 people started showing up, so it did get busier and the wait time for a table went up to 20-30 minutes. If you want to go here for lunch, definitely get here before noon for a short wait. Also, it is quick dine-in/to-go style and NOT cart dim sum! Overall, the food tasted good! Once it got busier, the service slowed down to the point where we had finished all the food on our table, but were still waiting on a couple dishes to come out. Because of how long it was taking, we asked them not to bring those dishes out anymore and just ordered some sesame balls for dessert. The manager came out and apologized for the delay and still gave us one of the dishes we were originally waiting on free of charge. It was approximately $130 to feed 9 people. In regards to service, although it slowed down when the restaurant got busier, there are multiple signs stating "Employees in training. Please bear with us." so it didn't bother us. However, I was bothered by some customers who would stand literally in the middle of the restaurant while waiting to be seated. I thought it was disrespectful for them to stand inside right next to tables of people dining instead of waiting outside like the others until their turn. Finally they opened!! Stop by dim sum king on thanksgiving day to get some dim sum for brunch at home with the family. Dim sum king is conveniently located in hong kong plaza (formerly known, as the signage has changed with no new sign up yet). Which has haven city food court. Dim sum kong was already busy when i arrived with dine in dinners and to go order patrons waiting in line. Wait was not too long probably about five to ten minutes. Placed our order and was told the wait would be 30 min since they had to make some of the dishes. They were quite busy and from other reviews it seems they have improved their operation and had extra hands on deck. For dine in there was one person working the floor so she was busy there and also helping hand out to go orders when available. We waited and got our food after roughly 45 min. Which was totally fine since it was in fact thanksgiving day so was grateful they were open and for us to try their dim sum. The food was delicious and the size of the items were definitely larger than some dim sum places which was a plus as each dish is $5.xx. With today's inflation is sadly on par for what dim sum costs these days. Everything tasted as it should and if not better than some dim sum places. I especially like the law mai gey which is a staple for me to order at dim sum as its my dad's favorite thing to eat. The chinese sausage is about 2" long which is amazing as other places give you 1" or shorter and the egg is plenty as well making it a very delicious meal. My family and i enjoyed the meal and look forward to ordering more dim sum in the future. The only bummer is that they open at 9 am so i cannot order dim sum before going to work. Very excited that a dim sum shop just opened in West Covina but it definitely needs some improvement. The interior looked fine as we were just getting takeout. This restaurant recently opened and there is a sign on display that says "employees in training" and to be patient. It seems to be a family ran business since the employees in training, cashier and packer, both looked really young and inexperienced. We tried to order with the cashier but she insisted on us filling out a form when we were only ordering Hargow and Shumai. There is a little kid running around and yelling by the food in the back. The cashier touched the food orders while handling cash. There is another boy who helped pack our order with his bare hands and did not wear gloves. We watched them pack our orders very slowly and it just seemed unhygienic that the packer and cashier were both handling our food with no gloves. They were kind, but very slow and seemed to be confused with our order. When I brought the Hargow and shumai home, I noticed the paper boxes were already damp and breaking. One of the shumai seemed to have mold or something on it? However, the Hargow and shumai were a pretty good size and tasted good as well. Some of the shumai had some hard pieces and the Hargow shrimp kept falling out of the rice paper but were still yummy nonetheless. Izzy is the Dim Sum Shifu! I've visited Dim Sum King Master twice in less than a week. They enticed me to drive over to West Covina instead of Rowland Heights. Izzy, greeted me both times. They are a family owned dimsum shop. They are the new style of dim sum shop...a smaller shop with no push carts. Everything is handmade, not like at some dimsum restaurants in the Rowland area where you can tell it is mass produced. The food that I've tried so far is very good. The shumai are big and juicy with 5 per order. They have a fantastic breakfast special with a preserved egg and salted pork congee with your choice of one item. The congee was full of finely chopped preserved eggs and meat. It was very tasty. The ham sui gok that I chose was good as well. I like Dim Sum King Master. This place doesnt have the carts but they made it super easy to order. The waiter spoke fluent English and their menu had pictures with letters and numbers to order. I had also seen ordering online had the items in English. The food was just as good as the cart dim sums in Rowland Heights and Alhambra. It all came out relatively quickly. The shumai are big and come in a set of 5 not the typical 4! Shumai was tender and flavorful! The deep-fried shumai seems to be breaded very lightly and fried. I preferred the original shumai tho. Hargow is really packed with shrimp. The rice wrapper to shrimp ratio was perfect. Bolo bao was solid, Not overly sweet or too dense. If toasted, it'd be perfect for me. I bought quite a bit and brought it to my coworkers and they devoured it and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely will come back and try more of the other things. Management should have determined some kind of workflow that (new hire) employees can follow through with to get orders out. I've ordered take-out a handful of times and the wait is just not what you'd expect for a dim sum take out. You can tell that the employees' duties are still disorganized, who does what, which orders to process first, etc. It would be good to also inform customers if something is out or an expected wait time on an item if they've run out. But sometimes they don't realize it 'til they're trying to box up the orders and it's short of certain things. So... we wait and wait. I wouldn't return unless desperate for dim sum. I really thought I would like the place since it's so similar to the Dim Sum King in El Monte. Unfortunately the food was just ok. Some of the taste was just a bit off. Food wasn't bad but the El Monte dim sum king is better. Service was good. Servers were courteous and came to check on me often. They took too long with the steamed beef roll so I opted to cancel, but when it did come out after it looked good. Small restaurant but plenty of seating. Clean. Would I come back? Maybe. Really nice dim-sum dining with friendly service. I only wish I got a roast duck to-go but maybe next time, I was just too full! I ordered the mixed platter with roast duck and steamed chicken, plus sio mai , shrimp har gow, turnip cake, custard tarts, and bbq steamed buns. Ordered to go and their rice noodle roll was slimy! Ewww! I've been to so many dim sum places and this is the first time I've witnessed slimy rice noodles. It's as if it's been sitting there for days. Disgusting! I was scared of eating the rest after that. The other food seemed ok but the rice noodle roll ruined my appetite. Please look at the video to see the nasty slime. The rice noodles are clumped together because it's been sitting there for so long it morphed into one. Obligatory, I was craving dim sum and specifically chicken feet. I walked and was greeted with friendliness that wasn't overwhelming. I got my chicken feet and egg tarts. Both are delicious, and I will definitely be coming back when I need my dim sum fix. Parking is pretty plentiful, and the environment is very clean. :) read more

Service was great!! Food was super affordable and everyone was super welcoming. If you need a dim sum place, this will satisfy your craving. The BUNS were my FAVORITE I think it's a must. They are warm, soft and flavorful. I will definitely be coming back to try more things from their menu and have those again! read more

So this is my second time here, as my first visit a few days after the grand opening was, and I'm being nice, a shit show. I didn't want to review on the first visit, because, it was obvious that they were still new, working out the kinks. With the long lines out the door, they definitely underestimated the crowds and were easily overwhelmed. Almost all items that we choose were cold, everybody were confused, including the customers. Happy to say, they're starting to right the ship and get everything back in order. What we ordered today, were nice and steamy hot. The only complaint today was that the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves was lacking in flavor. But everything else was on point, including all of the staff members. Great to see this place in the neighborhood, because it's nice to have a good dim sum restaurant near by. read more
