Came here for dinner today with the family to celebrate my brother's birthday. We wanted to try something new without having to go into San Gabriel/Monterey Park. A pretty spacious place with lots of parking. Lots of tables inside with a private room in the back that held about 8 tables or so. The food let's see, let's break it down: Sweet & sour fish - 8/10 nice flavor, wish the fish was a little crispier Shaken beef - 8/10 nice flavor, tender sautee string beans - 8/10 decent salt & pepper squid - 1/10 - no flavor, batter was a little weird crispy chow mein - 1/10 - no flavor honey walnut shrimp - 6/10 not bad but also i've had way better Overall, I think its a decent place for what it is & where it is. Obviously if you go into the San Gabriel area there are way better places. BUT for being in Covina & I think the pricing was decent, it was cool. Service was okay, men only staff apparently. Stopped by with my family for my brothers birthday. We were sat towards the back and noticed several sodas already on the table. After we started to skim the menu, I noticed that most of the menu items did not have pricing information clearly displayed. Since we were a large party, we decided to order the dinner package. At least that had a pricing displayed. Once the food arrived, it was extremely bland. Not only that but this was the most I've paid for mid-tier Chinese food in a while. Since when did Chinese food get so pricey? Pan fried noodles were ok, walnut shrimp was good, pork chops were decent but everything else was mid! Oh and those sodas are about $7,xx bux each so stick to hot tea. Also, they wrote in a suggested tip amount and underlined 16% but probably charged the 18%. It's also calculated after tax. It's supposed to be calculated based on pre-tax. I didn't want to fuss over the bill while the server stood over me. This will probably be the last time I step foot in this place. My husband and I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the area and decided to try this restaurant out. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein. The waiter brought us some complimentary soup, but neither of us cared for it. Our entrees were good but not great. We noticed that almost every table ordered the Crispy Fried Pork Chops. My favorite dish is back on the lunch menu! Albeit on the second page at a dollar more than the highest lunch items on page one. Oh well, still less than dinner prices :) Clams were on the bigger end this trip which is great, but also usually means fewer on the plate. I do usually order clams with black bean and ginger and onion, so not a disaster. Both were great as usual and finished both happily. We also ordered the king Pao chicken, replaced onions with water chestnuts and orange chicken. They nailed the special order kung Pao but the orange chicken was just ok. First dish here that I'll probably not order again. It wasn't bad, just not special. Could have been better if it had a bit of crunch. Free soup was hot and sour which was great too. My family and I had lunch here, and once again, we LOVED it!! The service during our two previous visits was GREAT, and this visit was no different. The menu is HUGE, with many choices of seafood, poultry, beef, soups, noodles, etc. During this visit, we ordered Mongolian beef, eggplant, and kung pao chicken and shrimp. Our food was AMAZING!! Extremely flavorful and perfectly prepared. Each bite of all three dishes left you wanting more. The white rice was a perfect companion to our great lunch. When we entered the large restaurant, eight to ten other guests were dining, and another ten to fifteen stopped by to pick up takeout. This is a very popular place in the area. Free parking is available in the restaurant's private parking lot. Town Sent Seafood Restaurant is my family's go to spot for celebrations. The service is outstanding and extremely hospitable. If I remember correctly, the tables could sit up to 14 people. For our visit, we had a party of 11. They offer a variety of family meal deals that serve parties of 10. We chose one of those options and also ordered additional dishes. In the family meal, there were some dishes that really stood out to me. Their fried chicken was amazing! The skin is crispy and the sauce is delicious. Next, the honey walnut shrimp was perfect! It wasn't too heavy on the honey or mayo and the walnuts were so good. I can't come here without ordering their Mongolian beef, sizzling rice soup, and yang chow fried rice. Everything we ordered was okay, coming from the 626 heart of Alhambra and eating there to coming here it was a touch transition. It's not bad but also not the best. It's good for what it is. I've learned about this place by driving by many times. Finally decided to try it out with the family. The restaurant itself was a little outdated, kind of of like your typical chinese family restaurant in the 80's. Place was clean & the waiters were all really nice, helpful & attentive. Ordered the fried pork chops with spicy salt, walnut shrimp, seafood chow mein, pan fried string beans, sliced beef with assorted mushrooms. I used to love coming to this place until what happened. My mom wanted to come here for dinner. We ordered "vegetable egg rolls", "Roasted Pork and Oysters Clay Pot", and "Turbot (fish) two ways". It is very disappointing. The pork belly slices are not Roasted Pork. It is just salted pork bellies slices. The pork belly slices are rotten and have a foul smell. Super solid spot for a family dinner! We ordered a massive spread from here and honestly, everything was really good. The kung pao chicken had a great savory flavor with just the right amount of kick and a good crunch from the peanuts, while the orange chicken had a really good, tangy sweet glaze to it. Just a heads-up if you like it super crunchy, their version is definitely on the softer, saucier side (which I prefer), but the flavor is spot on. The minced chicken lettuce wraps were fresh and super flavorful, and the egg drop soup was pure comfort in a bowl and came out piping hot. The absolute standout was definitely the deep fried fish fillet. The batter was super light and airy, and the fish inside was perfectly flaky and tender. We paired it all with the vegetable lo mein, which was loaded with veggies and the noodles weren't mushy at all, which is always a win. Great Chinese food. Portions are family style. I've came here since I was a little kid. They switched owners, but the food still tastes the same. Even though they're rated "C", the food is really delicious. That's my opinion. Even my mom and dad, who critic every Asian restaurant said the food was really good and portions are bigger than comparable restaurants with similar menu items. Food is very flavorful. Nothing was too oily or too salty. We got a variety of items. Don't quote me on the exact names of the items. I didn't get to see the names on the menu. Filipinos flock to this restaurant so much that the Chinese servers are practically fluent in Tagalog! They're all super friendly and very funny. It is a large, traditional Asian restaurant but has a separate room for larger parties or private events. They are always very busy on weekends. Our must have faves are salt and pepper pork chops, house chow mein, Yang Chow fried rice. Today we tried their garlic clams, shrimp with scrambled eggs, eggplant with garlic sauce and steamed fish. They rushed us to order and that's the usual though. As I'm taking my order he doesn't look at me but his EAR was looking at me. He couldn't hear me and we had to start over because I didn't understand what he was saying because again, his EAR was staring at me. My brother thought he was waiting for him to order because his eyes were directed at him. It got weird from there. He actually got upset when I asked him to repeat what he said. It wasn't wrong to ask. I was accommodating him and speaking louder into his ear. We asked for egg fried rice that came with NO EGG. Just rice. We asked another waiter to take it back and they added one egg. Very kind of them. The first waiter took the menu so fast my mom didn't even have time to choose. We asked another waiter for the menu again so she can choose more items. He was kinder. Food came out fast and that what we like. My 11 year old nephew what the first to say the food was salty. I've seen the same waiters there for years. They have gotten older and my grandparents have the same issues. They have hearing aids, dementia, grumpy at times and they also like more salt in their food. Most of them have resting B* face. They just look mad all the time. It's sad that this is the end for us. Also, they choose when to accept AMEX. Sometimes they take it and sometimes they don't. Make sure you bring a visa or Mastercard. This is common for Asian places. I came here for a lunch special since I live nearby and did not feel like driving deeper into the SGV. I liked that they give you a bit of egg drop soup with the lunch special, and the prices were pretty reasonable, but the food itself was lacking. The eggplant and tofu dish looked like it would have flavor but was lacking in the salt department and then chinese broccoli with chicken was the same. The chinese broccoli was huge - like tree branches, so it was hard for it to be seasoned much at all and a bit hard to chew. Most people got the braised pork belly with preserved vegetables (mui choi ka yuk) and I'll maybe give that a try next time instead. Enough to try one more try, but not enough for 4 stars. read more

I almost forgot (technically, I did) So we turned around to go back home to puck up the card & gift (wrap it) & head towards Covina. This Town Sent is my auntie's go to for celebrating occasions. Food is usually great tasting & service is pretty good. It's a set menu so we were served the usual suspects: egg/corn soup, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, fried fish, beef broccoli, fried chicken, seafood chow mein & fried pork chops. These arrived in a good spaced amount of time. We were seated in the back room & it was fairly warm coz of the many bodies crammed in there. The mini banquet room held approximately 80 people. It was not easy squeezing by anyone when you needed to walk by any table to fet in & out of this room. I have to admit, the few times we asked for anything (vinegar, more rice or water), the servers brought it back quickly. They usually didn't acknowledge the ask but they came through either way. We tried Walnut Shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Hot & Sour Soup, and Westlake Soup (where the beef was overcooked and dry) and Shrimp Fries Rice. All of them were tasteless and very boring.
