My first introduction to Dimassi's was in their now-closed Addison location. I rated it slightly below Fadi's, but pretty good and right next to my work, so it made for a nice lunch. When they closed I was disappointed, but happy to discover they still had a location in Richardson. It was a bit far to hit up regularly, but I was glad to know it was there. Then, they showed up on Groupon. Hooray! I bought three, since I knew I would go there happily. So, me and my family stopped by the next weekend, and were a bit disappointed. Like the Addison location, it is a buffet. However, they did not appear to keep their lines as nicely as they did at the now-closed location. The food was a bit dried out, and in others the heat cranked up too high/pans poorly fitted, so steam escaped and made utensils uncomfortable to handle. We gave it a 2nd go, thinking the first was a fluke, but it was an identical experience. I held on to my last Groupon until it was about to expire, and the 3rd trip was the same. I don't think I'll go again, even if it shows up on Groupon again. Disappointing. read more

This is a regular for us. If you like lamb shanks, you have to ask the cashier for a ticket; it doesn't cost you extra and it's included in the price of the buffet. They don't advertise the shank or have any signs to inform customers of it, which they should. You get one lamb shank per person and they are large. Had lunch here last week with a friend. We normally go to Sahara on Alpha for Mediterranean/Persian cuisine. Dimassi's is a big place with a huge buffet and a lot of choices. However, most items on the buffet were cold. The chicken dishes were flavorful, but dry. The best part was the lamb gyro, but they ran out. The breads are very good and fresh and are probably the highlight. The place has a lot of potential, but needs to work on freshness. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! I love the fresh variety of Mediterranean Cuisine to pick at your epicurean palette. The cost is absolutely reasonable for the value. The food is delicious at every dish served on the buffet. Most Mediterranean favorites are available on the spread and they will take requests if you might have one. The desert bar usually has fresh Baklava and other assorted favorites as well. The only thing missing is some good traditional music from the middle east. That would be a nice touch. My wife and I used to come here, the food was (is) good, the decor bland - but it was close and we preferred the offerings to other Mediterranean restaurants in the area. The owners decided to renovate and added accent tile (meant to be used sparingly) EVERYWHERE... and if that wasn't enough they PAINTED a very busy pattern on the ceiling.... EVERYWHERE.... I can't sit inside that restaurant now. it's simply too much. Other locations of Dimassi's are fine, this one waste good money to ruin the interiors. I'll now drive down to the Cedars on Walnut HIll simply not to have to look at the ceiling. read more

I have to have my Dimassi's at least once a week, even if it's a bit of a drive for me. I love the Arugula, orzo, and kale salads, three different kinds of hummus, tzatziki, and dolmas. The lentil and spinach soup is rich and satisfying. Try adding a bit of their hot red pepper sauce for a bit of a kick. Several different rice dishes, grilled chicken, and cauliflower greet you on the "hot" side of the buffet. Their falafel and tahini are both as good as it can possibly get. Several desserts and several beverages are all included. I love it because I just walk in, head for the buffet, and start eating--a lot!. No wait and no service. Just great food at a very reasonable price. I do not eat junk food at all. It's been 25 years since I put that stuff in my body. I work out a lot and I crave good, nutritious, real food. I've really tried to like Dimassi's. But after going there this weekend and paying $13.00 plus a tip for very mediocre and bland food, I'm done. During the week it's less expensive, but with Afrah and Ali Baba's not far away, Dimassi's isn't going to see me again for a while. read more

We tried this place today because of an about-to-expire Groupon. I love this type of food, but I found theirs to be not quite up to the standard of some others in the area. Maybe it was an off day. However, the selection is HUGE. So if you like a lot of options in a buffet, then this is the place for you! However, the layout of the buffet is one long line. I prefer the layout at Ali Baba. The pita bread was really good. I also loved the falafel, The lamb gyro meat that I had was like lamb jerky, but my husband's was better because he got his from deeper down in the bin where there were onions. (Just FYI.) The chicken kabob was pretty good, but the kafta kabob was dry. Even though we arrived just a couple minutes after 11, some of the items were not warm. Noticed that some of the chicken "fajita" meat was still pink (i.e under-cooked). We tracked down an employee and pointed this out. He used the tongs for the dish and removed some of the pink pieces and then replaced the (then contaminated) tongs to the (also contaminated) dish. No thanks! read more

Overall, the food at Dimassis is good. Certain items like the falafel, bakery goods (pitas, pizza, baklava, zaatar pie), and salads are great, but some of the meat dishes and other sides are just ok. The buffet selection is abundant, and the staff at checkout are friendly and welcoming. Dining area is bright and spacious but not always clean. Would most recommend to the newbie to Mediterranean food to sample a wide variety of dishes. read more

This place has the most amazing buffet of great food. Also, the bread is to die for. Staff very friendly. My VERY picky sister likes it too! I only wish the place had better tables and was a little bit more stylish. Maybe I am just being too picky here but they use two different wall tiles in two different directions...it's a little weird because I have laid tile before & was told its bad tile work. I wish the walls had cool pictures of the countries these dishes came from, you know? So you can imagine you are there...just an idea. BUT the place is clean so you can't complain too much. I've been eating here, off and on, for years, but no more. It used to have REALLY good food, but the last two times I went- on a Saturday evening no less (a very busy time) - the food was awful. It had obviously been placed on the steam table without having been heated first. Nothing had any flavor. A huge loss and disappointment. I won't be going back. read more

This place has a variety of food, but I feel the flavors are tailored to Americans. Mediterranean food is usually flavored but this was more bland. The hummus, baba ganoush and Grilled chicken were my favorite. The baklava was good but a little dry. The bread is soft and good when its hot. The gyro meat was good, the meatballs seemed a little bland to me, and the kofta kabab was cold and dry. Overall, the food is ok as expected from a buffet. But, they do have a large selection. I liked this place in Addison, and was sad when it closed down. Now I see they just moved. Seems like a good business decision because the new place was packed when I went there for lunch. It's an okay place aesthetically, nothing fancy, just one big room with tile floors, so it's not exactly atmospheric, but you don't come here for a romantic date, you come here for a good inexpensive buffet. Here's some of my samplings; my favorite was the baked chicken thigh. It was really tasty and juicy. I also love the gyro meat and onion, but there was no pita bread for me to make a gyro with, maybe they ran out. I also liked the yellow spiced chicken breast, I don't know what the name is. There were four rice dishes, all very good, and four or five veggie dishes, green beans, peas and carrots, spinach.... don't remember the others. There was a pretty big selection of salads, like greek salad, cucumber and tomato, and others. Two hummus dishes. Two or three ground beef based dishes, like meatballs, and ground beef patties with tomatoes, sorry I should have written down all the names of these dishes but I didn't. The meatballs didn't do too much for me but I did really like the ground beef and tomato dish. There were some nice dessert items, pastries like fresh baklava and rice pudding. The two things I did not like; the brisket, it had a strange taste, not necessarily bad but just a taste I personally did not like, and the dolmas. The grape leaves were too tough. I have liked the dolmas at the old location, though, so I think they were just a little undercooked at this visit. I rediscovered this place because of Groupon, and I had bought two Groupon coupons (two people for $12 plus tax); my date this visit was my wife, and we both liked it so much I immediately bought another Groupon. Actually I tried to buy two more but Groupon would only let me buy a total of three. We'll go back even if we don't have a Groupon though, it'll still be a good deal. Edit, two years later: I go to Dimassi's a lot, maybe once every other month, and it is my favorite lunch place. I'd go more if I worked closer. They solved their problems with the Dolmas, the bread is always there (although not pita bread, some kind of big puffed up pita or something, and I like that your drink is included in the buffet price. They also have a new location in Las Colinas which is a little nicer, but with the same good food. Go to Dimassi's, you'll like it. I'd give it 5 stars but really a buffet should never get five stars, I mean, a really fancy awesome restaurant should get five stars, not a lunch buffet. But I'll go ahead and say, for the function it serves, being a lunch buffet, it is definitely five stars. read more

We were invited for dinner by our friends to this place and it was awesome. There were so many choices from rice to beans to salads to sweets. Their bread is awesome too! It's cooked in a wood fire oven in front of you and they are warm and fluffy. The food was very light and delicious and you can go back for seconds without feeling stuffed. This is a good place for kids as well because they also have pasta and pizza. It is a bit on the pricey side, but worth it if you only go out once in a while on special occasions.
