BBQ king is like our family's second living room. We love coming to this no frills establishment for casual sit down dinners and good food. They have always been so kind to me and my family - from accommodating my aunt who uses a walker to saving my purse when I forgot it here one time. I have nothing but praise and admiration for their utmost hospitality. It really feels like coming home when I step in here. Uncle knows our family and always keeps up with us, I really think service is beyond just serving food, it's about showing up for the community and I am so happy this place exists. One of my absolute favorite things to eat in Dallas is their tandoori chicken wings. They are truly a work of art. Marinated to the bone, juicy, appropriately spiced and absolutely delicious. I would down plates of these if I didn't have to adhere to a diet. Many other things on their menu are also stellar, like the Lahori style chana that is to die for - thick consistency, beautifully spiced. The biryani we get is always clean and made fresh with proper masala, and they accommodate my cousin's preference for white meat with good cuts of chicken breast. The naan is absolutely sublime too, my family loves the kulcha naan with sesame on it but their other breads are also phenomenal. We also tried their chicken tikka pizza a while back and are a huge fan. During Ramadan I always stop by here to grab their fresh desi style malai/cream. It makes for an amazing stuffing for dates topped with pistachios, or you could eat it as a side to your paratha for breakfast. The few times I've had the fresh juice here it was very good. We went to World Food Warehouse in Richardson and the smells were so intoxicating that we decided on a lunch of non-American fare, so we ended up at BBQ King Express. We had been to its previous location a few years back and liked it. This new location is much nicer inside, more seating and cleaner. The move was beneficial. Most of the menu is Indian/Pakistani but they also have pizza and burgers, I guess for the kids? We started with veggie samosas and they were good but SPICY. The hottest I ever had. It did not come with any sauces but did have chickpeas which were very soft. The kid had pizza but the wife and I had Pakistani. She had the boneless beef Karahi and loved it. She asked for mild and they delivered. The flavor was intense and deep. The food can be incendiary so be careful. I had the chicken shawarma and really liked it. It came with a side salad and the rice was delicious. The shawarma was not spicy. Our server Zaib was efficient and professional. She got our order right and brought things immediately when we asked (napkins, silver, etc). The prices are very reasonable. We would definitely return. read more

We came here after a long day, hungry and excited to eat, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. It took over 2 hours for our order to arrive, and when it finally did, the food came out cold and dried out. When we asked about it, the staff just said they could "warm it up," which makes no sense after such a long wait. On top of that, instead of apologizing or showing any care, they argued with us and gave no real attention to our concerns. If you're coming in the evening, parking is kind of difficult because everyone and their pet hangs out in this complex. The restaurant does have good, spacious indoor seating, and a couple of tables outside. Service was good For the food, first off, I've ordered the beef burger before, and it was good. The chicken burger, chicken tenders, and fries were good. Unfortunately, the entree plates are a pass. We had them before in the past and they were good. The staff was friendly and I really appreciated how clean and fresh the space is. I also like the music playing, as it's not too loud and really adds to the vibe. We come to Richardson often and saw the new sign up for this location. It used to be under a different name previously. We decided to venture our dinner out here. The setup looks really nice for the place and it is very clean. There seems to be plenty seating and had a very welcoming and casual setting. The menu had a lot of options from burgers to kabobs, pizza, pasta and more. Can't really tell what specific type of cuisine it is since there is such a variety, but that works out for people who want to order different things. We ordered the bbq mix platter, spaghetti and fries. Food came out fairly in good time and the servers were very cordial. The bbq mix platter was a great size for all of us, easily 3 people can eat from it nicely. The quality and taste of the kabobs and rice were really good. My boys devoured it so quickly. The spaghetti was also really delicious, loved the layer of cheese on top. Unfortunately, the meatballs and our fries never came which is why I am taking one star out. We didn't order much which is why I feel none of our order should've been missed. Nevertheless, whatever items did come to us tasted great, service was great as well all in all. The host, believe his name was Badal or Badar, was exceptional in ensuring we were okay and kept checking up on us and while we waited for food he brought crayons out for my kids to color. We like it when owners or hosts come out to speak to us, and he did so. He was very courteous and pleasant to speak with. This is in between Arwa and Big Dash. It has a lot of random things on the menu. Peri Peri chicken, Biryani, pizza, gyro, shawarma..etc. Just seemed random. Maybe it's not.. Peri Peri chicken takes 45 minutes to prepare. I'd like to come back for that! The gyro plate was good. Tender. I liked it, it was different from our usual. One person got their food right away, then 5 minutes later, another dish arrived. 15 minutes after that, the next dish came, followed by another 5 minutes later. The final dish took a shocking 40 minutes to arrive. When I brought this to the owner's attention, he was extremely rude and disrespectful. I got a cheese pizza and bbq wings. The wings were cooked perfect and had the right crunch to it. But they just drenched in in BBQ sauce after. Too much sauce just ruined it. I ordered the butter chicken and it was absolutely delicious. The naan that came with it was very large and tasty and it was more food than I was able to eat in one sitting. The staff was very sweet and one employee held the door for me when I was walking in with my hands full. You can eat inside or out on the covered patio. Highly recommend! read more

I hate to give a Muslim business a review that isn't glowing, but my family's experience here was so strange I have to say something, if only to give the staff and management some critique so they can improve in the future. TL;DR -- Overall score 6/10 (Food 7/10, atmosphere 9/10, service 2/10), not coming back. Food: 7/10 We ordered a medium cheese pizza, a rare ribeye steak, and kheer. The cheese pizza was a 10/10. The ideal hot, fresh, perfectly greasy cheese pizza that brought me back to my giddy childhood years. I intended to only eat one slice and ended up eating four because it was so good I couldn't stop. But things took a strange turn with the steak. My dad repeated multiple times when ordering that he wanted it rare. When it arrived, it was beautifully presented, sizzling away on a hot plate decorated with caramelized onions. The scent was heavenly. But when he cut into it, it was well-done. Brown all the way through. A rare steak should only be brown on the outside-- it should be predominantly pink with a red center. With the hot plate in mind, a mid-rare steak would have been acceptable (brown exterior with a pink interior and no red) since hot plates continue to cook food after it's been taken off the grill. But it was entirely brown. My dad has previously worked as a chef and is very passionate about cooking and very picky about his steaks. At any other restaurant, especially chain restaurants, he would have sent it back immediately and asked for a proper steak. But because this was a Muslim establishment, he ended up letting my mom, who likes well-done steaks, eat it instead. Service: 5/10 When the server returned & asked how everything was, my dad expressed that his steak was overdone. She understood and expressed that she'd put in a complaint for us and offered to take it back or remove it from the bill. My dad said it was fine, he just wanted them not to make the same mistake with a future customer. That's when a man who I assume was the cook came out to speak with us. He was extremely defensive & tried to tell my dad that the steak was not over-cooked. When my dad shared that he himself was a chef and he knows the difference between a rare and well-done steak, the gentleman became even more defensive, asking where my dad had been a chef and continuing to deny the steak was overdone, to which even the server insisted that even she knew a rare steak "should be pink inside". At that point I realized I had never gotten the Kheer I ordered, so I asked about it and they offered to go & get it. A few minutes later the same gentleman returned with two other desserts & told us they had no kheer but offered one of the other two desserts instead. I didn't know what they were, so I said I wasn't sure which one I wanted instead. He then made the comment "But you're a chef's daughter! You should know more about food than I do." That was extremely disrespectful and rude. His tone was insulting, and the comment itself was nonsensical. All the desserts were South Asian desserts-- gulab jamun, jalebi, kheer, and halwas-- and I only knew what kheer was because I had been served it at a friend's house once. My family is White and Pacific Islander Asian. How am I supposed to know what an entirely different culture's desserts are just by being presented them in tupperware? My dad is an Irish-American. Steak is a fairly Americanized dish, and you don't need to have cultural knowledge to know when meat is burnt. I had no way of knowing what was in the tupperware he presented even if I had been told the name of the dishes since it's not my culture. I gave up and just asked the gentleman to reccomend me his choice. It was the carrot halwa, which I'd never had before. I wasn't a huge fan. It tasted okay, but wasn't what I had wanted or anything I was familiar with. At that point I was just embarrassed, put-out, and defeated, so I put my head down and ate what I was given. Atmosphere: 9/10 Lovely family pizzeria feel with an open kitchen and pleasant table layout. Clean, organized, no major issues nor especially masterful aesthetic. Conclusion: Not Coming Back I felt so disrespected by the gentleman's behavior. Him arguing with a customer about what a rare steak is was strange enough, let alone the rude way in which he dealt with them being out of something we ordered. The young women who served us originally were lovely and the food was delicious even if improperly prepared, so it's a shame that he ruined our family's experience and made us hesitant to return. I don't want to go back to a restaurant I was spoken down to in, Muslim-run or not. Even if my dad was wrong about the steak being overdone (which he clearly was not), he should never have spoken to playing customers in the way that he did. It was downright bitter and egotistical and I hope he never speaks like that to a customer that isn't already predisposed to a favorable opinion of the place due to being other Muslims. read more

I called immediately and was offered a partial refund. I asked for the salads to be made and delivered and told they'd check and let me know. Got a call 10 minutes later that they are suddenly out of stock of salad and can only do the refund. It's 4:20pm on a Saturday, pretty sure they are not out of salad. Plus the pizza tastes blah. I've been looking for a pizza place that I love since we moved to Dallas, but no place has quite hit the mark. I've finally found it, and of course it's the place that's really close to my house. It's a fairly new restaurant, so that may account for the small number of reviews. First, the inside: You can tell they take great pride in their restaurant by how clean and amazing it is inside. It feels very comfortable and also spacious. The staff: The staff were so friendly and welcoming, as other reviewers have commented. It makes you feel good about supporting their business. The food: I ordered the Hawaiian Pizza. It was so so good. Perfect amount of toppings, and the toppings were fresh and delicious. Also, they didn't skimp on the cheese, which I really appreciate. The crust is also delicious and just how I like it. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant, and I'm looking forward to trying more things from their diverse menu. read more
