I was shopping local for Christmas and had heard good things about Dimitri Olive Oil, which happened to be in the same shopping center as a local candle store, nut store and popcorn store - All Local! I only cook with olive oil or plant butter, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the oils here comparably priced to grocery stores. I purchased a fig balsamic (for me - I love ANYTHING fig), some stuffed grape leaves (for me!) and some olive oil as gifts. The grape leaves were addictive. I finished the entire container in two days. The service was fantastic. I was greeted upon entering, and after explaining it was my first time in the store, the lady showed me around and told me about the history of Dimitri's and helped me decide on what to purchase. She let me sample some of the balsamic. They have a full olive bar and fresh breads, baked in coordination with a local bakery. Will definitely start buying my olive oil here. I will drink this Whole Bottle, I swear. I stopped at the farmers market at Miller Library a few weeks ago and fell in love with the MANGO WHITE GRAPE BARREL AGED BALSAMIC VINEGAR. A Greek Deli new to Mt. Vernon that sells fresh oils, vinegars, tapenades, awesome sandwiches anddddd a fresh olive bar?! Who knew? I came here for lunch with a couple coworkers. Upon walking in you're drawn in by the yummy smells. I ordered their smoked turkey(which they smoke themselves) with Parmesan, arugula, onions and tomatoes on Lagana feta cheese bread(think focaccia). Sounds yum right? It was. While waiting they had a small tasting area, to sample some of their made in house wares. I had the white peach grape vinegar. It was light with the perfect amount of tang. I also had the roasted hot chili pepper olive oil. Hmmmm. So good I pour some on my panini pressed sando. To round out my sandwich, I received a fresh kosher pickle. You actually get a side with your sandwich. Total price 8.48. Totally worth it. I'll be back for olive bar. :) read more

This is the best olive oil I have found outside of Greece. In fact, it tops most olive oils that I've tried in Greece. Amazing to have such a quality option in Baltimore, or anywhere in the US! For their olives, I would have preferred fewer pickled options, and more plain ones. They also sell at the Sunday farmers' market, which is where I picked my 5l extra virgin olive oil tin. Hell YES! Finally, what a treat... an authentic Greek deli and in Mount Vernon no less! I'm in seventh heaven. Just discovered this place today and I'm definitely going to be coming here at least 1-2 times a week. The prices are totally fair. The guys working the place are as Greek as they come and the food all looks fresh and amazing. I had the chicken panini which was delicious. I'm a planner by nature. I like to know what we are doing, where we are going, what I am eating, dayssssss in advance. So, you know, it killed me that I had no clue what I would be ordering once I got to Devoo (it was recommended that I go by a friend). Once I got to the basement deli, I totally get it. The owner took his time and was very patient in explaining a little of the history and showing me what was available to order. I ended up with a chicken panini, which because he made to order, I was left waiting. I put my time to good use, sampling their many oils, vinegars, and olives. The walk back to the office was excruciating, as the smell of my sandwich was mouth watering. It smelled so good, that the entire office swarmed my desk, asking about my sandwich. The taste was more incredible than the smell (if possible) with perfectly melted cheese, moist chicken, and amazing bread! I also asked about shipping their oils, and was told I can do so from their store, at the same price as the USPS. He even suggested I check the price on line at USPS before coming in, which is more than honest and fair. read more

You have to keep our eye peeled for this place, because I feel you could easily pass it by. This is a great little Greek deli where they make everything from scratch, including their delicious olives. For $8, you can get an enormous sandwich with a side of their olives; you really can't beat that deal. The Greek cold cut sandwich is the real deal, and that lagana bread is out of this world. I highly recommend this sandwich, but if you aren't feeling a sandwich, they have plenty of other Greek options. I was Yelping the Mt. Vernon area to get some inspiration for lunch since I was tired of the same old in the area and I forgot my packed lunch. I came across Devoo on the last page - just before I was about to give up and go to Pot Belly for the millionth time. So glad I stopped and read the reviews of this place because it enticed me to go and did not disappoint. I order the Greek Cold Cut sandwich. The rosemary focaccia bread was the perfect amount of crunch and dough. Delicious meats of turkey, salami and mortadella. I think it actually had mozzarella on the sandwich not feta - but it was topped with red onion, tomato and a kalamata olive spread. Needless to say - it was delicious. And the sandwich wasn't overly stuffed to the point where everything was falling out/messy and yet it stuff just enough to have a great bite every time. No skimping. The place is small - a little basement joint with minimal seating. It looked like a father/son duo working the day I went. The father was hand-making the sandwiches while the son was running the register and making the sales. I could see the father hand slicing the vegetables, meats and cheese to create the sandwich. I ended up also ordering a tub of olives from the olive bar - I mean they are grown on their farm in Greece! (Which is apparently just south of Sparta.) In addition - I ordered the tzatziki dip, a small unfiltered olive oil and the baklava as a little treat for my fiance for dinner that night. The son told me you can bring your olive oil bottle back for a refill at a discount. Everything was spectacular and I can't wait to go back to try the Greek Salad. Everything was fresh, light and flavorful. So nice to have some culture in the area that doesn't include a gyro or thai on the menu. Again, the place is more of a take out/made to order kind of place with minimal items to purchase but everything was authentic and from their farm in Greece. As someone mentioned below - they have other locations and sell at Farmer's Markets at Boordy and under the JFX among others. Looks like I have a vendor to hit up this summer! I stopped by for lunch and I'll admit, I was crossing my fingers that it would be like the Greek version of Trinacria because it's so close to my apartment. Sadly, it's not... but I think there's definitely room for improvement! I had the sandwich special on the board: turkey, salami, mortadella. There was also feta, red onions, tomatos and a garlicy olive spread all on a focaccia bread.... I really wished there was more meat on my sandwich. I know that it sounds like I'm a cheapskate but Potbelly is right around the corner, as is Soup's on and Subway so the sandwich game in that area of Mount Vernon is FIERCE. If you want customers to pick you, you have leave them full! I'm a petite person and if I order a sandwich that only has a few slices of turkey and a few slices of mortadella, I'm going to feel hungry and ripped off. Also, they definitely forgot to put in the salami! The mortadella and turkey were both pretty smoky, but DELICIOUS! If only there were more. The foccacia bread slowly disintegrated with every bite and crumbled apart, so be wary of that and have a fork ready but the bread is still really tasty. With your sandwich, you get a side. I picked the potatoes and they are AMAZING. Very garlicy and salty. You get two slices. Order them if they are there! I also got a rice pudding which was really creamy and topped with bountiful amounts of cinnamon. Not really worth the price. It was 3 or 4$ and tiny. I really hope this place does well because the family behind DEVOO are all really sweet and seem passionate about their deli. However, I think their advertising could use work. The sign is way too high off the ground and not at anyone's eye level. Like Jon Taffer always emphasizes on Bar Rescue, great signage will draw in customers! I'm definitely giving this place another try in the future because my boyfriend hasn't been here yet and he LOVES olive oil and garlic. read more

A man from the store comes to Hampstead MD every Saturday for the Hampstead Farmers Market. Iv spent a total of $120 in the past 3 weeks no real discount other then bringing back the Olive Container he will give you a dollar off. But there's a kicker on two separate occasions the man flirted with a lady infront of me offering to take her to Greece gave her a free bottle of Oil and had 3 LARGE containers of olives for $15 that day I bought two oils and 3 SMALL olive containers it was $50 no discount I let it slide and made my purchase. Then this past Saturday July 30th 2016 I'm standing in line the lady in front of me was talking to him about olives and cheese dip he's like the dip is $12 but you can have that full one for free she then got a LARGE container of olives she only paid $8 dollars. I return a small container for the orange infused olives and I got a LARGE container of whole kamala olives he charged me $19 I said sir didn't you just sell the last LARGE container for $8 why is mine so expensive he begin to studder and say no I didn't. He didn't like being called out.He said your small is $7 and the large is $12. The lady behind me charmed in saying he did give her a free item and a large container for $8. Its terrible to give away such discounts in front of other customers and lie. So if you like to over pay and be scammed then enjoy there products...... After emailing the company this is there response "Miss, We please thousands of people each week, I do not flirt, but I am very business oriented, And extremely service oriented, And that's my style, sorry you don't like it, And sorry I did not ask you to go to Greece, If you had inquired about Greece, I would have treated you the same way, This is my business and I give discounts to who ever I wish and I do it which ever way I wish to do it, So this "man from the store", Will tell you to stay away, from our olive oil stand, we do not wish to do business with you anymore, And save your story's, I am not interested. Their spicy olives are to die for. All of their products come from their 5 farms in Greece and are unfiltered and raw. They have olives, infused and regular olive oils, aged balsamic vinegar, honey, and skin care that uses their olive oil. It was a fantastic find and is the only place I buy my olives from. read more

This is such a great find. The selection for ready to eat food is small but REALLY wonderful.The spinach and feta in filo dough (not sure what they call it) is simply delicious. I only gave it 4 stars because I don't have a greek deli to compare it to, but to me its a 5 Star for sure. I went for lunch, the owner is sitting right there as you come and and is a friendly young man named Dimitri, he was very welcoming! I had the lamb sandwich on a soft yet crunchy bread, the indgredients were fresh fresh fresh!!! I'll eat kalamata olives, and I have to say they are the best I've had in a while. Izzy, who made our sandwiches made them with "feeling" with "love" - when I make something good for my kids, that's what I say - "it's good because I made it with love". Owner Dimitri told me the olive oil they use comes from their family farm in Greece, paid $15 for the bottle and can bring back for refills @ $12 - pretty good idea I'd say. When I went to pay my bill, my drink was on the house - even though it was bottled water, I still appreciated it very much. They will definitely see me again. Its hard to find good eats in Midtown, Baltimore that are walkable from the hospital I work at, so this is a winner IMHO. read more

Sampled the various oils at New Eastern Market in York PA two weeks ago and loved everything we tasted. Yesterday we went to the shop and went wild tasting different olives. We ended up getting 4 different olives, lemon infused olive oil, plain olive oil, baklava, spanikopita, and basalmic vinegar. Highly recommend this deli for all parties. read more
