WARNING-Stay away!!!! If you want a doctor and a practice that helps you in your time of need this facility and doctors are not it. I was unfortunately assigned dr DIMITRIY KONDRASHOV, by my workman's compensation for a back injury. I was waiting 2 months for this appointment. When I got there with all my MRI images and report I was told that I would need the CD as well. No one has asked this from me not any of my PT and primary care doctors and no one told me it would be needed. Also if it was needed the dr and facility had every right and power to retrieve it prior to my appointment. His nurse advised me since I do not have the CD they would need to take X-rays. This didn't make sense since I had an extensive MRI imaging done and I said no to X-rays since I have a high rate of cancer in my family and have already been exposed to too much radiation from CT scans in the past, you have a right to advocate for your own health remember that. The nurse told Dr DIMITRIY KONDRASHOV this and can you believe he refused to see me, not even showing any care At All and not even coming into the examination room to see me. Wow!! I never felt so betrayed by a dr in my life. He could have came out looked at my reports and images on paper which every other doctor has done and given me a preliminary explanation of what's going on while we set up a next appointment where I can bring in the CD. But no I was asked to leave in pain with no attention or treatment or anything. The facility and staff clearly did not care for me or my best interest but wanted to charge me unneeded X-rays ( from the facility as they have the machines in house) so you're getting the picture here now? So instead of care they wanted to put me in an uncompromising position all so they can make more money and all because I said no and refused this service and unnecessary radiation I was refused help completely . So here I am warning all the people out there contemplating on using this facility and staff to pivot and to spare you the troubles and experience that I went through trying to seek medicaL help from this institution but most importantly dr DIMITRIY KONDRASHOV who would rather make money then to help an ailing patient in desperate needs. What a coward and honestly not the doctor I would see or ever recommend. I bid you well on your journey to healing and I hope this warning reaches you before it is too late. read more

I am 3 days post surgery on my L-4 L5 herniated disc with severe sciatic pain in my right leg. All I can say is I have ZERO nerve pain in my leg and only incisional pain in my back!!! Although I'm only a few weeks post-op, I can honestly say that this entire process couldn't have gone more smoothly. Dr. Kondrashov is truly an excellent physician. From the very beginning, he took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly and with genuine care, easing my fears during what has been one of the scariest experiences of my life. He was open, honest, and extremely knowledgeable -- it's clear he has a wealth of experience and a strong command of his field. I especially appreciated that he came to see me both before and after the surgery, and even personally called me the evening of the surgery and again the next day to check in. He reassured me that I could reach out to him at any time with questions, which gave me great peace of mind. At my post-op appointment, he was also very through in answering my questions regarding recovery. Roxana, his office coordinator, has also been an absolute gem. She was responsive, kind, and incredibly organized -- always getting back to me promptly via phone or email. I had a massive spine surgery by Dr. Kondrashov in December 2022. He realigned my spine, decompressed my spinal cord and fused me from T-8 into my pelvis. I was unable to stand upright after the surgery and kept asking why as the surgery was to help correct this issue, among other things. All I got were eye blinks and suggestions to do planks. I kept going back to Dr. K and got nowhere. After he left St. Mary's Spine Center I consulted w the head of the department and he recently ordered updated scans of my spine and curve. I just learned that Dr. K incorrectly set the curve of my spine and I need yet another surgery to correct his error. The last two years of my life have been hell. I'm in constant pain, can't walk much and am now looking at yet another surgery. Don't be fooled by the handshake, quiet demeanor and smile. He's arrogant, doesn't second guess himself or think it might be good to consult or collaborate. Grrr. While he is skilled in certain areas, his ability to consider he may have made mistakes is missing. Big danger area ! read more

I have a badly herniated disc, and was advised that I need surgery. Dr. Kondrashov was highly recommended by my nephew, another orthopedic surgeon who trained under Dr Kondrashov. After meeting with Dr. Kondrashov he felt that there is a good chance that surgery will be likely, but was very clear that he wanted to pursue other options (epidural steroid injection, PT) before going to the surgery option. I greatly appreciate his conservative approach, and if surgery is needed, he gave me great confidence in explaining the procedure and expected recovery. If and when I need surgery, I know I will be in very good hands. Very much appreciated! Follow-up note: After concluding that the other options noted above did not adequately address my pain and numbness, on February 1 (20 days ago) I had the surgery to address my disc and stenosis issue. I had three days of very manageable pain, and since then have been doing really well. The numbness in my left foot is gone, and in my right foot it is improving. I'm back to walking long distances, and in a couple of weeks, following my appointment yesterday with Dr. Kondrashov, I'll be clear to go back in the gym. I'm surprised how good I feel and how quickly I have recovered, but Dr. Kondrashov is not...he fully expected great results. I can't say enough about Dr. Kondrashov and his team. Dr kondrashov provided me with a seven page written report, including several photographic views with the X-rays of my spine upon completing his initial examination. Unlike other specialists in this field, after having an MRI they simply showed me on a monitor and suggested spinal injections. My first visit with him required an MRI within the past three years. Since I was having pain, he ordered a lower and upper MRI. Of all the spine specialists I've been to in the past forty years, Dr kondrashov provided me a thorough intake documenting as much as I could recall. I've been dealing with a severe sciatica pain down my left leg for about 10 months and trying to avoid surgery hoping that my herniated disk will heal on it's own. It came to a point that I could not walk anymore and was crawling just to use the bathroom. I was referred to Dr Kondrashov and made an appt with him on June 25, Dr Kondrashov and his medical staff has worked tirelessly to get me scheduled for a surgery as soon as possible and was able to push for a Saturday schedule which is 4 days after my appt. After the enduring pain shooting down my left leg, I cannot believe the outcome of the surgery. I can't Thank Dr Kondrashov and his medical staff enough that when I woke up from my surgery that I was pain-free and able to walk straight again. Dr. Kondrashov was the most patient, kind, thorough, dedicated and honest surgeon that anyone in terrible debilitating pain a person could ask for. By the time I found him I had lost most hope. I was only 37 and a pretty good athlete and dedicated nurse. Workmans comp really had no personal investment in who i am or how hard I worked. I was in despair in that i lost my ability to work and identity as a nurse due to this injury and therefore of my purpose in life really. I did it again. I had a period in my life of wanton sluttery, alcoholism and excessive karaoke and what do I get for it? Another broken bone. For real, the exact same thing happened to me 4 years ago, where I had 6 months of stupidity until a night of too many gin and tonics (like 10 or something) landed me waking up in a Kaiser OR with a screw in my 5th metatarsal (that's part of your foot for you plebes) talking to the techs and the RNs about how I was soooo drunk as they all laughed at me. Things are a little different now; I remember every detail of my fall and I get to plan my surgery instead of being talked into it by the world's most socially awkward surgical resident at Kaiser. Instead, I get to have young Dr. Kondrashov perform the barbaric act of fixing my fracture by putting a METAL PLATE into my ankle and then screws on the other side. I was waiting to write this review till I had decided that enough time had passed to be sure that there were no post-surgical complications. Looking at the 5 stars above, you can see that now, exactly 4 months post neck surgery, the answer is positive. A brief history: 5/18/07: While doing push-up, husband feels painful *POP* in shoulder/neck area, bull-headedly continues through push-ups 5/18/07-7/2/07: Husband spends ~$1500 on alternative therapies, attempting to alleviate the now round-the-clock pain he is experiencing 7/2/07-ish: Husband sees Dr. Kondroshov, who sends hubbs for MRI, diagnoses herniated disc between C5-C6 7/20/07: Husband gets cortizone shot in the hopes that the problem will be alleviated. Relief lasts for about 4 days. (sweet, teasing roids!) 8/13/07: Husband gets neck surgery (scary thoughts of possible paralysis rule our minds) to cut away the herniated material 12/10/07: Husband is recovered, doing exercises again (carefully now), & pain free. Summer of pain is over. Dr. Kondrashov is extremely capable, and excellent at explaining procedures. (My favorite was the day after surgery, when he visited us in the hospital to check on the recovery. To explain what he had seen when he was performing the surgery, he drew a helpful diagram right onto the bed-sheet!) Furthermore, this doctor did not seem to be a surgery-pusher, preferring instead, to recommend less invasive procedures first, and then using surgery as the last resort. He is young, intelligent, totally approachable, and quite the dapper dresser! I hope that I never have to see him again in the medical context, because that would mean something was medically wrong with me or a loved one. However, if I did have to see him in his office again, at least I would be fully confident that I was in exceedingly capable hands. read more

What can I say about Dr Kondrashov that would do him and his team any true justice. Dr Kristen Alderisio is AMAZING, as is her assistant Mark. Kristen always made me feel like my questions were the most important and that I was always her number one patient. Lana Dr Kondrashov's assistant was such a pleasure and always attentive. The office is busy so don't be surprised if it takes her a day to get back to you but she does and with all of your issues and needs at the foremost of her list of things to do with you. Dr Kondrashov himself is a very attentive and compassionate healer. I had 2 SI Joint fusions using the iFuse system ( he is one of the only ones that does it in the Bay Area! and the best imho). It is an arthroscopic surgery and he did an amazing job on both sides. I scar very easy and I hardly have a scar on either side. I was in the hospital and he visited me both nights I was there Just to make sure I was doing ok and that my pain meds were enough. WE had to space them out between 8 months and it was like a miracle, the second was even easier than the first, probably due to all the PT and getting in the water and exercising, you must do this! As soon as he releases you to do it DO IT! I have been to plenty of back Dr's in my life and I can tell you he is of a different breed. He makes you feel at ease instantly with his beautiful blue eyes and easygoing manner. I really can't say enough good things about the Saint Mary's team and Dr Kondrashov's team as well. I went from not being able to walk more than a few steps with extreme pain to walking and swimming and hiking and having a life again. He is very patient explaining the issue over and over to the patient and the members of the family :) The results of my father surgery are really amazing - the leg pain was gone the same hour he woke up after the anesthesia. Dr Kondrashov, his staff and Saint Mary's Hospital are only in it for the MONEY!!!!! This man should not even be called a doctor and his office staff are no better at their jobs then his is at his. In 10/2015 he performed low back surgery on me, 3 days after the surgery I was sent home even thou I told them that I was still in excruciating pain, they gave me one last injection of pain killer and sent me home, it took 2 days of calling the doctor and the hospital to get someone to answer the phone and by the power of (for new patents only press 4) I got someone on the phone told them of my situation, a few minutes later they told me to come back to the hospital and I did. I was not admitted so they could not give me anything for pain and due to the pain that I was in I could not get into the MRI machine. With enough oral pain medication I was able to get into the MRI machine for a couple of minutes and they found that the doctor closed me up with something leaking in to my spine. It took 12 hours before they admitted me into the hospital and the next morning I was back under the knife to repair the problem that he created during surgery. The morning after surgery #2 I was in the same amount of pain as before and again i went to the MRI machine, again the result was that the repair was not done right and I went back into the surgery room for #3. After surgery #3 they found that the now gave me a staff infection to take home with me. This was all done at Saint Mary's Hospital in San Francisco. About Saint Mary's hospital, one of the food servers that brought me my meals took my food before I had a chance to touch it and then denied that she did, the nurse on duty that morning could not find another breakfast tray for me so she went and got me a sandwich from a machine on one of the floors, 5 minutes later walk in the food server from before and while telling me some crap story about how the police killed her thug boyfriend in jail she reached out tore open the sandwich carton and without gloves stuck it in my mouth for me to eat it. I brought this situation to the hospital administration for them to investigate it, they came back with a hole bunch of lies about how they were making an investigation but all that the did was bury it really deep so that it was too hard to do anything with. Dr Kondrashov did a 2 level ACDF (fusion, with autologous bone graft) at C5-6 and C6-7, and removed 'fish-hook' bone spurs for me in early September 2012. I had put the operation off for over 3 & 1/2 years out of fear and was in constant pain and exhausted. I tried every non-surgical approach possible before accepting the inevitable. A little over 2 months post-surgically, I feel like myself again for the first time in almost 4 years. From the first time I met Dr Kondrashov in March 2009, I knew that if (when) I had the surgery, he would be the only doctor I would trust to do it. At that time (3/09), we had thought only a single level procedure was needed, the C6-7 herniation revealed itself on pre-surgical repeat MRI/XRays. In addition to being a genius in his field, Dr Kondrashov is exceedingly kind and always takes the time to answer all questions, and has amazing 'bedside manner', especially for an orthopedic surgeon . Lana (his assistant) is phenomenal as well, very caring and helpful. Unfortunately, due to degenerative disc disease, I may need more work done in the (hopefully distant) future and will (of course) have Dr Kondrashov do any procedures I might need. For the time being, I am overjoyed to be out of pain and regretful that I wasted so much time prior to surgery. The recovery was so smooth and went far better than anyone expected. I first saw Dr. Kondrashov four years ago when, after a falling injury, I herniated a disk in my lower back. What stood out right away about Dr. Kondrashov was his patience, ability to answer any and all questions and provide good suggestions about treatment options. Ultimately, due to being almost incapacitated for over three months, I opted for a microdiscectomy. Never before could I have fathomed any kind of back surgery but Dr. Kondrashov was able to allay my fears and concerns and I woke up pain free after the surgery. Upper back pain is what brought me in to see Dr. Kondrashov this time. I was very thankful that he was able to see me and refer me for an X-ray the day I called his office. As before, Dr. Kondrashov has been very generous with his time as well as sympathetic and patient. Lana, his assistant is amazing and Peter the scheduler is also great! I came to Dr. Kondrashov to get a second opinion on a fusion surgery at L5-S1. I needed to be hospitalized and had the fusion surgery 2 days later. Dr. Kondrashov is very intelligent and experienced and did an outstanding job on my fusion. I went from not being able to walk to being on the road to recovery and being able to function. My first spine surgeon was terrible. Dr. Kondrashov literally saved my life. I experienced significant sciatica from a long-term L5-S1 herniation that had progressed to a point where no conventional therapies and treatments were of assistance. I was recommended to see Dr. Kondrashov, whom I found to be a most pleasant fellow and thorough physician. He requested an updated MRI and based on the findings advised on a microdiscectomy, which I elected to receive. The procedure worked splendidly and my back now feels brand-new. This Doctor misdiagnosed my cancer for 4 months. I had a broken sacrom that I was hospitalized for in September. Dr. Kondrashov came to see me and told me to make an appointment for November and he would take care of me. I saw him for 6 months. He walked into my last appointment and told me I was cured. I asked about a follow up MRI to see what the crack in my sacrum looked like now. He told me that wasn't necessary. I was really confused because I still was in a lot of pain. He told me I needed to go to a pain Doctor who could deal with the "phantom" pain. I was really upset but I talked to my primary and he said a pain Doctor could help since I was well and shouldn't be in pain anymore. The pain Doctor was rude and totally disrespectful. Turned out that my primary, the pain Doctor, and Dr. Kondrashov had totally misdiagnosed me. I had a broken sacrom due to a cancerous tumor. Three Doctors totally missed the tumor - I believe because NONE of these Doctors looked at the original MRI from September. I left these Doctors and St. Mary's Medical Center and found new care at Sutter Health where I was diagnosed with a lymphoma tumor that was growing and pressing against my sacrum causing a greater tear and significant pain. I thank God for Dr. Jennifer Van Warmerdam! Only Doctor at St.Mary's who listened to me, ordered the right tests, and told me I had cancer. The other Doctors told me I broke my sacrom in a fall which I didn't have. I would avoid St. Mary's Hospital and Dr.Kondrashov. read more

Despite earlier reservations with their scheduling delays I ended up getting microdecompression endoscopic spinal discectomy surgery by Dr. Kondrashov. The half day outpatient procedure was 100% successful, totally relieving the excruciating leg cramps I'd been having. The St. Mary's Spine Center Staff was caring and thorough in their followups. The only thing they should have done differently is set a more realistic expectation about the painful 2 week recovery period. read more

This is a review of Dr. Kondrashov's office staff. Over 2 months ago I called to make and appointment to seeDr. Kondrashov for severe pain in my back and on my left side. When I finally got in touch with his office staff, they were abrupt and rude. I was told that a packet of materials would be mailed to me prior to my appointment and that the information MUST be filled out before my appointment. I received the packet at 11 am the DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT and I live a block away from the office. I hurried to fill everything out as my appointment was in the early afternoon. The directions for xrays, which had to be done before I got to the office, were confusing and unclear. I got to the office late as I was running around trying to figure out where to go for xrays and the woman at the check-in was obviously annoyed. I eventually got the xrays done and got to see the Dr. He seemed to know what he was doing and explained everything to me. The next steps were PT and an MRI for a pinched nerve. My insurance denied the MRI. I would never have known if I hadn't called the Radiology Department to check on scheduling. I called the Dr's office and left a message for his assistant to see if they could submit an appeal. I never heard anything and ended up leaving the assistant ANOTHER message and calling Radiology again. They had no answers, but were nice enough to call the Dr's office for me to ask for the appeal AGAIN. At this point, almost a month and 1/2 has gone by and I have called the office 4 times and never received a call back. Mind you, I have been in horrible pain the entire time. PT has not really helped and I have been waiting for the MRI. After 2 months of waiting, I have called the Radiology Dept again. Props to them for being ultra helpful. They found some paperwork on my request, but can't read the handwriting to figure out if the appeal was filed and I can have the MRI or not. I have to call back on Monday to talk to a different department to see if they have any info. When I needed an appeal for a procedure for something else, my Dr at St Mary's called for the appeal himself and then he called me to let me know things were set. It took 3 days from the original denial to the approved appeal. With the way insurance companies work these days, everything is denied at first. Dr. Kondrashov's staff should be able to deal with these things easily and effectively. I am still in pain and trying to figure out if I should just go to another doctor. Either they have too many patients to deal with or his staff needs some serious training. read more

Dr. Kondrashov preformed my most recent surgery. I have a dorsal column stimulator implant that I use to treat chronic pain due to extensive bilateral ulnar nerve damage and CRPS. I consulted with Dr. Kondrashov, when my implanted rechargeable battery for my DCS, stopped working and needed replacement.. Lana, in the front office was outstanding. She went out of her way to insure my surgery was scheduled right away and that all my medical history was in order to proceed with surgery. My initial consult with Dr. Kondrashov well exceeded my expectations, He was on time, personable, made eye contact and really took time to understand my extensive medical history. He put me at ease and explained in depth, all aspects of the surgery I would need. The day of surgery, he came early to meet me and go over my treatment plan.. He was kind, confident and he reassured me, I was in good hands. His bedside manner is outstanding. My surgery was on time and everything went according to plan. He came to see me in recovery and was both informative and kind. I have had over a dozen surgeries in my lifetime. Dr. Kondrashov was outstanding. Dr. Kondrashov is wonderful. He is very nice and approachable, yet it does not reduce my confidence in him in the least bit. He in knowledgeable and confident, with a sense of humor and a very humane approach. He and his wonderful assistant Natalia squeezed me in before my vacation (I really needed to see him!) and did not make me feel like he was rushing in the least bit, though I know that he had other patients waiting for him. He administered a supposedly very painful shot effortlessly and most importantly PAINLESSLY, and offered me to email him if necessary while I'm gone, even though I know he will be traveling as well. I am thrilled to have found such a capable, young, gentle, and kind doctor, and while I hope I get better soon, I already feel better knowing that I have Dr. Kondrashov on my side. read more

Dr. Kondrashov is a good listener and probably a good surgeon based on the other reviews. I will not argue with that. I saw him for chronic right-side pain as referred by my physician. He ordered a chest CT scan explaining that the amount of radiation will be close to what I would get from a trans-Atlantic flight. I did take the CT scan because, conveniently, the machine at St Mary's was not busy this day and I did not have time to do my research. The actual amount of radiation is equivalent of what the crew of trans-Atlantic flight gets in a year. I got it in 10 minutes. St Mary's collected 2K+ for the scan from the insurance. If a nerve impingement was found, Dr. Kondrashov would have injected me with steroid which in turn would have provided some temporary relief. My pain was not that bad to go through all the trouble. This should have been explained as well as the true amount of radiation I would get. The office also took two x-rays just to talk to me. Imaging is a cash cow. Be careful. read more

The best of the best. I had major back surgery (stenosis) and was blessed to get Dr. Kondrashov as my surgeon. He is effective as can be (never had one problem after surgery) he is smart, funny, personable and made me feel as if he really cared about me. He visited almost daily and always made me feel better. While Dr. Kondrashov may or may not be a skilled clinician he clearly prioritizes his convenience and billing options over the clinical benefit and convenience of his patients. In an era where most physicians communicate with their patients via telephone, email and even telepresence. Dr. K demands in-person visits. This is true even when the visit is a follow up imaging review for which there is absolutely no clinical need for an in-person visit. As best as I can surmise he does this because it increases his billing options. He clearly has yet to awaken to the fact that for many of his patients their time is both more valuable and more scarce than his own. read more

I have never written a review of any of my doctors, but feel compelled to do so in the case of Dr. Kondrashov. What brought me to Dr. Kondrashov were two failed steroid epidurals after a bad fall and a herniation at the L5-S1 level. Back surgery was a prospect that I dreaded, but decided to see Dr. Kondrashov and to get his opinion. During my visit, I found Dr. Kondrashov both professional and personable. He spent more than an hour with me, examining my condition, answering my questions, and calming my surgery-related fears. The day of surgery, the doctor spoke with me before the procedure, which was very reassuring. Dr. Kondrashov also spoke with me right after surgery, making sure that I was well. Not only was I well, I was feeling 100% pain free right after surgery and was released the same day. The night of surgery, I was walking my dog and feeling better than I had in months. I could not say enough amazing things about Dr. Kondrashov and highly recommend him to anyone with spine-related concerns. read more
