I had an emergency with a tax return that said I basically didn't pay my taxes when I did. I contacted a dozen different accountants and none of them responded. I was panicking really hard until I found George Dimov on Yelp, and reached out to him. He responded immediately and was open to helping. When I gave his team the details of my situation, they identified the problem immediately and within a couple of days were able to provide the form to the IRS explaining the issue and remedying it. I just got the response back saying they accepted the form and explanation and the extra charges against me were dropped! They sent me a number of questions by email and then said that they couldn't give me a cost estimate until next March and by that time it will be too late because they will be booked up. Nothing negative on customer service, my issue is i had paid a lot of money to have an issue resolved. They created the paperwork and sent it, but the IRS messed up my paperwork (because it was sent to wrong place) and no one from this firm followed up, and when i did the leg work and followed up myself i find that i am still in the same situation i was before i paid them all that money. I tried to contact them to see if they would help resolve my issue and they said i will need to pay more money because they "did what they were supposed to do", and in my eyes all they did was type up papers (that are online) and sent them (to the wrong place, reason for them not getting filed correctly). I had a consultation call regarding my tax situation. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the experience. They were extremely responsive, much more than other firms I contacted. However, for the price, I expected more. I got a couple questions answered, but more than that I got a lot of opinions about what I wanted to do, that were less than helpful. I didn't really get additional advice aside from the very specific thing I asked about. It also sounded like the person I was talking to was multitasking. Which wouldn't have been a big deal if the rest of the experience had been good. I will say this sort of interaction is on par with how other financial teams have treated me in the past, so maybe that's just standard for this area of expertise, but it didn't exactly make me feel great about the call. read more

George Dimov quickly responds to your emails, communication is not the issue. The one star is because I think these guys charge the most in all of Austin when their work is not 10 times better than your average CPA. Expertise for my situation is lacking as well. I ask basic tax deadline questions about Mark to Market Election and instead of taking just couple minutes to ask his "senior tax manager", he rather spend 15-30 minutes to write emails and explain to me on why he can't answer it. It takes just a few minutes to Google or go to IRS.gov to find the answer to my question but I wanted test his knowledge and expertise which he apparently didn't have for my case. Anyway, I called and asked 10+ CPAs around Austin about filling out IRS Form 3115. Finally found one who has expertise and can do it for me for Only $350. You know the price that Dimov quoted me? $4800! Thats an absurd 14 times more for doing just the exact same Form! Also quoted me $2400 for only 1 hour of consultation on "strategy" and "guidance". The average hourly rate is $150 to $400, his "advice" is not 8-16 times better than everyone else's. Think His clientele must consist of many millionaires because Your salary needs to be at least 6 figures to afford Dimov Partners. You can hire a whole team of CPAs for the price Dimov charges. read more
