Heard from friends that it's a nice German bakery with good pastries, so I decided to give it a try. I was amused by the great variety of pastries and I ended up getting some from the glass fridge. They taste pretty good, but I JUST WISH THAT the cashier lady could treat me like a real customer. If your looking for a German bakery that has traditional fresh baked goodies this is it! There is also a little cafe with a friendly staff. We had the Mille-feuille (Napoleon) dessert along with their fresh bean coffee. The dessert was well satisfying, tearing into the flakes with it's thick icing. At the start of this dessert we tasted the sweet icing, then the multiple flakes along with the cream, then the custard, yum.... it was delish! The coffee was strong and flavorful too. read more

I love this Bakery! I have been going there for years. It's a nice time to sit and have a cup of coffee and something yummy with my mother while we chat and catch up. I live near by and have been going there for 10yrs and there selection of product is outstanding!!I buy there sunflower no yeast bread and it is one of the best in the bunch!! Some things are a bit pricey,but they are of great quality,and it's all at your fingertips,so you do not have to shop around. read more

Dimpflmeier is great for breads, pastries and cakes.... their German style cheesecake is "to die for"

Ordered a few deserts to try. The cake was terrible, old and rock hard. The cake was so dry only icing was decent. The cheesecake was horrible, barely any cheese taste or no flavor of cream cheese either. The nut based deserts were good. But honestly San Remo blows this place out of the water. read more

Absolutely not meant for anyone on a diet. This place is heaven. The smell is amazing. As soon as you walk in you get punched in the face with a fresh bread smell. Love this place. The treats are delicious and super fresh. The service is great too. Cash only which is annoying. I usually take a star away for that but in this case, I can't. I always purchase my bread here, for almost a year now I ask to get it cut in half - I have never been charged for this as they offer to slice it for free ... today there was a service charge of $1 for this which makes no sense to me whatsoever. It just does not get any better than this. My good friend introduced me to Dimpflmeier many years ago when I lived in Toronto. She is from the same town in Germany as the owner. I used to love this place. However, they now only accept cash -- that's right no debit. Also, I find the staff and customer care terrible. I was there recently with an armload of goods ready to pay and I had to go to three cashiers before someone would ring me through. read more

I went in for pretzel bread but came out with a plethora of other yummy treats. It was hard to resist not trying everything! I thought I was going in to a bakery that specialized in breads, but this place is so much more. Decadent treats and mouth watering sweets everywhere. The pretzel bun was so good, (I had a traditional kind as well as a chocolate dipped ). Also, both the cinnamon twists and cheese twists were perfectly flakey and equally yummy. The latte was smooth and not bitter. I was going on and on to my boyfriend about how amazing everything looked and how hard I had to resist not sampling everything. I told him we must go back because I did not try their Ferraro ball! He, having an equally large sweet tooth as myself, was sold on visiting this bakery as well. Not only was everything I tried delicious, but the staff were very friendly, which was icing on the already delicious cake! It seems like this place is always busy and parking was hard to find (and I went on a Wednesday afternoon), but I can understand why. So worth it. I'm a pretty gracious person and I've never written a bad review in my life but after 3 negative experiences I need to say something! I have been treated super rude by the staff almost every time I've been there. The young people behind the counters are polite but the older staff treat you horribly. Hands down the worst customer service I've ever received. I refuse to go there anymore for this reason. There's nothing there you can't get elsewhere and my local grocery store carries better and healthier artesian breads anyway. Look at the list of chemicals they use on their bread bags. read more

The bread and varieties are good and cheap. I love pretzels and there are many kinds to love here, around $1 each. The one star rating is for the rude staff. If you are not white, even if you speak Polish better than the staff speaks English, it seems like you are dirt. The white Polish lady next to me was served with a smile and conversation. I had to figure out what the server was trying to say in English because she would not respond in Polish to my requests IN POLISH. Odd how much nicer the staff was when my babcia (Polish grandmother) was alive and would come into the store. read more

The only place where I buy bread now. All look and taste healthy made with spring water. Lots of sweets also. Cakes, pastries, strudels, pies, cookies. Cafe. I am usually at Dimpfl a 2-3 times a week. Coffee is strong and full body, but not bitter. Normaly I have Cheese danish ($0.99), it varries in size. Best when is still little warm. Easily the best Cheese danish in Toronto. Sometimes I get Poppy seed danish ($0.99), The pecan Tart (large $1.25 !) is also very good. I did not have the almond triangle for a while, but it is excellent (was @1.50), and there also is no equal to Almond croisant in the city. I also buy bread and multigrain buns. The service is sometimes indiferent, as they do not really care, if you come again. It may be also leftover from the komunist aproach to customer care as most of the counter help comes from Poland, Russia. Maria, a long time employee (supervisor) is a example how not to treat customer - one time she refused to accept 6 penies maintaining that maximum of 5 penies is an acceptable form of payment. They have funny rules and regulation, but you get used to it because their product is superior to anything in the city. read more

Been coming here off and on over the last few years, and every time I have not been disappointed. Good bread, like many other reviews already mentioned, and amazing pastries (though sometimes I find a little too sweet for my taste). This morning when I dropped in with my friend who was absolutely taken away by the selection of bread wanted to take a few photographs, but was instead given a couple of stern warnings about no photos in the shop. Not really sure when this whole no photo thing started, but it did put a small dent in an otherwise pleasant visit. Just out of curiosity though, how the heck did other Yelpers manage to take photos and post them here? Maybe they don't care if you snap a few in the cafe area, but want to keep their "trade secret" hidden in the bakery shop? Anyway, just a heads-up to my fellow Yelpers who want to visit; you'll get good baked goods, but just no photos! read more

Let me start by saying the Munich Style Rye, I was in love with! Keyword WAS. Just today, the 18th of July, my dad had 2 slices of toast and than I heard him just freaking out downstairs cuz after he ate it he realized the rest of the loaf is covered in mold. And here's the thing, he just bought this bread yesterday (the 17th), and it's expiry date is the 24th!!!! We haven't even had it for one full day! As well as the grocery stores. So he returned that loaf to the Superstore in Kitchener-Waterloo. When he did he looked at 2 more loafs....ALL MOLDY. ALL of them were. Later on today he goes to Sobeys in K-W. All of them MOLDY...AGAIN. He brought it to the store managers attention after he arrived back home. And now tonight he goes to the Zehrs in K-W...and can you guess? You can literally smell the moldy bread. They were the worst of all. Literally smothered in mold to the point of making the whole aisle smell. Once again, brings it to the Store Managers attention, and now we've been trying to get ahold of the actual company with no success. Every loaf of their bread in the ENTIRE K-W REGION, all arrived yesterday, all have an expiry date of the 24th, and all are MOLD INFESTED on the 18th. I don't think I'll ever be able to stomach their bread again, not without worrying I just ate a nice tasty loaf of Munich MOLD. What kind of quality standards are in effect that allow this much defective product to be released to this many people in this large of a city. I would have to naturally think this bread isn't subject to any sort of quality inspection whatsoever, and if it is than that is even more scary of a thought because that would suggest to me, in their eyes, the product they have released to an area consisting of more than 400'000 people is one they can be proud of. read more
