Looking for a new place to take the kiddos for breakfast, we stumbled upon this place which had a full parking lot, generally a good sign for a restaurant. As it is out of town a bit I was happy to see farm looking trucks which means locals come here often... Certainly a bit dated inside, but not in disrepair or dirty. Bit small so I could see a wait if you arrive at a peak time, but they are efficient so tables are turned pretty quick. The service is generally pretty good, and the wait staff is prototypical old school diner...a good thing to me, but if you're easily ruffled be forewarned they can be short if they are busy...not in a mean way, just not going to dote like The French Laundry. They have a great kid menu with a wide variety to satisfy even the most picky eater, and crayons are provided for games and art. My omelette was wonderfully cooked and the hash browns properly crispy. The star however is the massive pancakes! Must be a hint of malt or something but they are very tasty. Further, as this has been a restaurant for some time, the griddle has a wonderful season to it that imparts awesome flavor to the cakes. Bottom line, we will be back and this is in rotation for brekkie joints. read more

Not a lot of people in, but food was very good- I had the hot jalapeño burger which was mouthwatering hot, and the fries had a perfect crisp to them. Stopped in just for sodas and a chat with a friend & ended up staying for lunch. I had the Cobb salad my friend had the club sandwich. I am seriously tired of the attitude by these crappy waitresses. My wife asked for a straw for her water and the waitress questioned her like she was crazy. My son ordered a salad, and asked for no tomatoes or mushrooms and the hag just laughed at him as she wrote his order down. This place sucks and I will never return. WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD RECEIPTS ... When we had horrid service we did not tip, yet my card was billed for a healthy 5.00 tip. When I went back to inquire about it the manager/owner? got very rude, hollered at me to get out. Refused to look at the card voucher I signed, on the voucher I wrote big across the tip and balance line 47.50 so there would not be an error and someone add a tip. So it was very apparent! The way the manager/owner acted by getting so angry and hollering at me and throwing me out of the diner just tells me he got caught doing WRONG. Why else would someone act like that! I deal with credit cards every day, when someone asks about a charge I let them know and get them copies. Not here ... GET OUT is what you get here. So here's the thing that makes me put down a bad review on this place. Normally I have no issues when I come here. I actually very much enjoy it. Now this last time we received horrible customer service. We were helped by a older lady. She really made it seem like we were a inconvenience to her. First off when my fiancé ordered strawberry pancakes the waitress repeated our order "order of pancakes" my fiancé said with strawberries. The waitress clearly got irritated with the reminder and said she heard her the first time. Clearly if she had she would have repeated the order correctly. Getting coffee refills was next to impossible unless you were a senior citizen. It was really annoying. Now I want to say I do enjoy the food and have always liked this restaurant but this lady needs a new job because she has no idea how to treat customers. Tried this out a couple days ago. Got seated fast, service was great, got our food fast. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich, mashed potatoes w/gravy. Roast beef/gravy was great, mashed potatoes not so great. Instant potatoes? They had a strange flavor. Unexpected because mashed potatoes are tough to mess up. We will never go back. It has the same bad service and mediocre (at best) food as it had previously. We stopped for breakfast, although they had time to chat and pour coffee, they had no time to take our order...waited easily 15 minutes before waitress eventually took it. The sausage was lukewarm and not even browned. Too disgusting to eat. The french toast tasted like garlic and salt. Skip this place and go to the apple peddler down the street. Not quite what it used to be but still not bad food. I had French toast with blueberries, they had been frozen which was fine, but they were still a little frozen when they put them on top of the bread. No butter had been added yet so it was impossible to melt butter since the French toast was cold from the berries.. Not much thought went into that in the kitchen. Service was timely, however not too friendly. I recognized one server who was there even before the sale of the restaurant but she was not our server today. The orange juice was from a machine and poor quality. Coffee was fresh, however the condiments needed stocking- no sugar, no cream, creamer dish had emptied creamer still on the table. I love the small family atmosphere created at Diner 62. The servers are prompt and personable. Although some of the menu items have changed from the Farm house menu the food is great. Good proportions for a great price. I have been back three or four times and receive the same friendly service every time. I requested to talk to the manager as I had a request about the food selection and it was a breath of fresh air to know the owner is the one that came and talked to me. He was polite and open to hearing feedback in order help please future customers. I will definitely be returning to Diner 62. Hope when you read my review you too will try it out. So I got chicken fried steak with home fries. The menu says home fries are made diced red potatoes with onions and peppers. Sounded good and the veggie part is why I ordered them. They were nothing more than over cooked regular diced potatoes. See the pic with the review. The biscuits are tough and over cooked. The gravy was good and the eggs were good. I couldn't for the life of me though, figure out where the "steak" was. I thought it had more batter than meet so I opened it up to look inside. It looks like a meat protein patty battered and fried. I shouldn't have looked inside. I asked for the gravy to be on the side when I ordered and the woman who gave us the food apologized. She was very nice and gave extra gravy but I think I now know why they didn't put the gravy on the side. The gravy covers the sad little fried particle board anemic meat protein patty so you don't notice right away. It reminded me of a crisper version of a Swanson brand chicken fried steak TV dinner. All in all, I'll never go back. It was a huge disappointment and I had a friend who said it was great. Maybe it's just this meal? I'm not willing to spend the money to risk another meal though. I'd rather spend $1.98 on a cheap TV dinner and get what is actually advertised. read more

The food here is delicious but the wait staff is hit or miss. The lady that seated us was great and very friendly but unfortunately was not the waitress that ended up serving us. We were given an older lady who didn't seem to be happy to be working there. We ordered with little issue. Then a woman and her child came in who were very unpleasant smelling. We decided to move to the counter where no one was sitting. We did so without asking, which I guess is very frowned upon in the dining industry. She became upset complaint out loud to the other waitress. I apologized to her for moving without asking but I really should have asked if she would prefer that we just leave; as I wish that we had. She followed the other waitress around complaining about the entitled generation and how they just do what they want. I thought it was fairly rude to not only bad mouth your customers openly in front of them but also harass the other waitress who was just trying to work. Luckily she eventually found something else to complain about for the next 10 minutes and continued to do so at the other waitress, who appeared to just be trying to ignore her. This is a small restaurant but I guess the placement of the coffee refills is just too far away for her liking. She also has questionable hand washing as she touched her face and even her lips without washing her hands afterwards. My review seems to echo that of Jonny; this old lady needs to retire. read more

We went to 62 Diner for breakfast this morning. Our attitude was "how bad can someone screw breakfast up?". Now we know. I ordered the 62 Benedict which was two biscuits with ham, eggs your way (scrambled for me) smothered in their highly touted sausage gravy. The gravy was absolutely inedible. For the first time in my life I took a bite and spit it back onto my plate. I did my best to scrape it all to the side and clean my piece of ham off with my napkin. The hash browns and ham were great. Everything else was ruined. Bottom line? Go to McDonalds and get a couple Sausage McMuffins. You will be much happier. Whoever owns this place can't pick a cook to save their life. It is absolutely horrific. Just ask my husband, he will share the gory details of his "steak" and eggs special. We will gladly return to this dirty, tasteless dump on the event of the Apocalypse. Other than that, steer clear, my friends. Gross! read more

The only thing that I can give them is that the portions are large. Home fries? Cubes of potatoes right from a bag and kept in a warmer for far too long. Those can't possibly be made on site. Kinda warm food lacking flavor. I had a skillet plate and it was large but pathetic. The egg on top was like rubber. Probably kept under the warmer too long. If there was an option for no stars, I would do that. I ordered their Biscuits & Gravy Combo with 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. I have been literally throwing up for about 4 hours. It made me so sick to my stomach, I can't even begin to explain. My co-worker also ordered the same thing but with 2 sausage links instead of bacon and he is also in the same condition as me. Food is typical diner food. Good. Fair portions. The service, however leaves much to be desired. Today was the final straw. I ordered a side of gravy with my breafast. The waitress ( older woman. Gray hair pulled up. Wearing silly shoes with springs on the bottom of them) bit my head off when I asked for it when it didn't arrive with my food. Loud enough to make other customers look up from their tables. Here is the deal..there are far too many other places to eat in the Medford area. As a customer I expect excellent service every single time. I don't care if my request is an inconvenience to you. I am there to get what I orders the fist time. Had lunch here, and while there does not appear to be a lot of home cooking going on, it was a tasty, competent meal. I had the hot turkey sandwich which was filling and tasty. My wife had a tuna sandwich and soup and liked them, except for the fact that the server did not offer her choice of bread on the sandwich.
