So happy we stood here! Long story short, my group arrived at dingmans just before sunset after leaving rivers-bend campsite because it seemed desolate and too remote for my friends and I. While we wanted space, we also didn't want to be the only campers for miles. We decided to go to dingmans campground in hopes that they would have a space available for my group. The two young ladies at the front desk of the office were so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. They had a few spots open (the campground is huge) we stood at lot 79.. which was a short walk to the river and close to two separate bathe houses. The campsites are decently spaced from each other, but I do advise you ask employees which lots have more space in between them, because some are more private then others. Most importantly the bathrooms and showers were kept clean, were moderately new, and always had toilet paper and hand soap. Alcohol is prohibited, the site is dog friendly, located an hour and a half from NYC, and surrounded by trails and and water activities. Only negative was that the river was closed from swimming because of high levels of bacteria as a result of the storm that the north east got hit by a couple days prior to our stay, which is not the fault of the campground. We plan on going back once more before the end of summer :) read more

This was my 2nd stay at Dingmans. We really liked it the last time and were excited to come back. First, they have an excellent camp store, entrance area, beautiful well spaced sites, river access and great services, like wood delivery. All those parts are fantastic. There were a few cons. First, there is zero cell service at the park. While I know it's not the camps fault, it makes communication very difficult. The store/check-in area has Wi-Fi, which causes people to congregate there and clutters up parking, etc. A few nicely placed Wi-Fi zones would really help. There are not enough bathrooms overall. The folks in the no amenity areas need a functioning bathroom. The Porta pot is disgustingly, so they walk to one of two bathrooms. There are 3 toilets and 2 shower stalls, per gender. This is not enough for all the use. This was evidenced this weekend as the septic system filled and the restrooms was closed from 6pm Sat until 7:30 am Sun when the poop truck showed up to pump it out. There is nothing like being woken up by a poop truck running next to your tent listening to the pump. Everyone has the right to use the bathroom however there are just not enough functioning facilities for the value of people in all the sites Finally, my group of 8 reserved 3 sites. We all spaced out and followed quiet times. The 2 groups surrounding us must have had 6 tents each on their sites. Their kids were unattended, playing badminton on the roads, football in the sites and up till 11:30 yelling and blasting music. No one cared. Because there's no Internet, it was like a parade of cars and headlights throughout the night for people to go up to the office. You knew this was happening because they had to yell at everyone in their site that they were going up to the office to use the Internet quick. I think this camp has so much potential. If they could just make some of these improvements, it would be a complete game changer. Beautiful camp, excellent hosts around the office, but just needs a little more attention in some of the more 'necessary' areas. read more

Love Dingmans campground! We start our camping season there and usually it's also our final one for the season. Sites are not too close, lots of woods, easy walk to the river, VERY clean bathrooms and showers, lots of great waterfall hikes and a really well equipped camp store/front office. Ranger was notified and dumpsters were emptied the next morning as it was the culprit - they were not bear proof. Our site was not on the water but other tent sites were. It was a nice walk to the river. Would definitely stay again. McDade trail - biking, on site and many trails nearby. We hiked tumbling water trail. read more

I never leave reviews so this is how annoyed I am with this place: I was warned about this place and told not to go here, gave it a chance anyways and biggest regret. Spent $300 on 2 sites and for extra people to come which is ridiculous to begin with but did it anyways. They seemed laid back as a person was drinking a beer in the office. So im not sure why there were rangers stalking us in the woods... right after my fiance proposed getting down on 1 knee the rangers come running to ticket us for having a celebratory drink!! Completely ruined our entire weekend and engagement. Got a ticket minutes after our engagement!!! Never had an experience like this camping out of 100 camping trips we've done!! Worst place we have ever been to. Let alone u can't swim even swim at the riverfront sites. The water is 1 foot deep the entire river across. Great little campground for a friends-camping-weekend! We came here with about 12 people and rented out the Campsite #1. At first I was a bit upset that it was further from the lake, but after seeing our spot, I was super super happy! It's a much larger space - can hold up to 40 people I believe! We were super lucky that the adjacent campground was empty that evening, so we had the entire area (and our own porta-potty) to ourselves! The rangers are friendly, and did warn us about it being a dry campsite - nicely encouraged us to not drink openly. We had a campfire area, and were able to purchase wood in the store ($22/3 bundles). Other positives: - The porta-potty was actually unbelievable clean! Major surprise there! - Super close to many waterfalls and awesome trails - Secluded and private so you can see stars! Only drawback would be that there is ZERO cell service once you get out here. Not that I need to be on my phone the whole time, but makes finding each other in the parking lots a slight bit difficult. TIP- if you have a National Parks Pass - BRING IT WITH YOU, it's 50% off your campsite! read more

We were just there this past weekend. It was our families first time staying at this campground and we weren't disappointed. The staff was amazing, our campsite was just perfect. We were in close proximity to the front office, bathrooms, and a short walk to the river. The office had everything needed if you ran out of something. They offered wood delivery to your site and even brought our ice down for us. We were in driving distance to the trailheads as well as a cute little town called Milford. And for those looking to not leave the campground, this place was perfect for that too. The views of the river were spectacular. It was monitored well by the park rangers at night as well as the owners who made rounds at night. They even asked our neighbors to tone down their extremely bright LED lights that literally looked like daylight on their site and those around, it is camping it is supposed to be dark at night. LOL Can't wait to go back again, it was absolutely wonderful. read more

This campground changed management around July 2023. The new management is committed to improving the campground and camper experience here. We found the new management to be friendly and responsive. They were born and raised in the area and have a wealth of information about the DWG, it's history, and the many recreational sites within it. The camp sites were well shaded and attractive. The electrical and water hookups were recently upgraded and in great condition. The bath houses were convenient and in good working condition but could use more frequent cleaning. read more

Disgusting. For the entire weekend, the bathrooms were filthy, soap was not replaced, and the floor remained completely muddy. I told the front desk that the bathrooms needed cleaning, and they told me that they were being cleaned as we spoke. OK, cool. I went in later, to discover that the graveyard of dead bugs was missing from the countertop, but otherwise, the bathroom was in the same condition. I told them again that it needed cleaning, and they said they did. I told them it didn't look it, and there was no soap. They told me they replaced the soap, to which I replied that it was still empty. This was then met with a blank stare. The clientele does not respect quiet hours, rules, or keeping facilities clean for others. Additionally, there were signs in the campground prohibiting the use of fireworks. This did not stop some people... in the middle of the woods... A hint, if you go- Towards the river, there are some porta-potties. They are exceptionally clean, and well-stocked with toilet paper and soap. Or better yet, just don't go to this campground. read more

The bad reviews on here made me wary of coming here, but I'm so glad I didn't listen to them! We had two sites by the river, and as a group of 17, there was still plenty of space and a convienent connecting path. No trouble with rangers - we followed the 10pm curfew and concealed any alcoholic beverages. If you're staying at the river sites, be aware that the bathrooms are a bit of a hike and the closest option port-o-potties. The bathrooms could have used more maintenenace as they were all clogged up at one point. The firewood was a big expensive, especially since we were only allowed to buy from the office. Overall a nice campsite, would recommend the river sites! read more

Awesome campground! We stayed at Dingmans Campground for 2 nights in May, 2024. Being RV (class C) campers our choices were limited in DWG region. Actually, Dingmans was our only RV accepting choice according to 'Guide to the Gap.' This was our first visit to Dingmans but definitely will not be our last. The site sizes are generous; no problems with water and electric; bathhouses are clean and stocked. Our visit was early in the season so weather was mostly cool. But I predict it would be pretty comfortable on hot summer days- all sites that I saw are wooded. Even tent sites along the river have shade. Beautiful waterfalls in the area, but pretty far if you're hiking. One area sightseeing caution. Old Mine Rd runs the length of the park (NJ side)- avoid this if in an RV: several road closures without street signs; few opportunities to exit this road; very, very steep incline/decline on poorly maintained road (were we even still on Old Mine Rd? not sure!); not well marked (or unmarked) historical sites. But, back to Dingmans- the new management is doing a fantastic job.. keep it up guys! read more

I've loved this campground for a while. Lovely weather this past weekend. Nice site. Really surprised by how empty the place was. My big negative is the bathrooms. Wonderfully clean on Friday when we arrived but were awful and disgusting by Sunday morning. stopped up toilets, trash not emptied. Want to go back next year but am really hoping they'll address the maintenance that needs to happen much more frequently!!! read more

First timer over here and all I can say is... I was definitely a happy camper! I had such a great experience, mostly due to all that Dingman's Campground had to offer. My friends and I rented out campsite #135. It was such a great site... I would definitely try to snag it again the next time I visit. You may be wondering what was so great about it... so here it goes: 1) It is HUGE. It is a good site for a larger group. 2) Direct access to the water. It isn't technically considered to be a water front spot but believe me when I tell you that you can literally walk 50 steps and be right at the water. 3) A storage lock box (which I don't believe all sites come with) to protect your food from animals. It really came in handy. 4) Picnic table and fire pit. 5) Privacy. This campsite is at the end so there is only one site next door. It was definitely more secluded than some of the other sites. With that said, it was a little further away from the parking lot/porta pottys... but in my opinion, its worth it in order to have a more private space. 6) Affordable. It cost $40/night which made for a super inexpensive and fun weekend. The rangers and staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to answer all of our questions and offered their input which was much appreciated since we weren't familiar with the campsite. The campground store has all the necessities you would need such as snacks, ice, and firewood. Firewood costs $7.99 for around 6-7 pieces of wood. They also have a deal for 3 for $22. The store closes at 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays so make sure you plan ahead if you need to grab anything. Also, they have free campsite maps placed right outside the front door. The restrooms were surprisingly extremely clean and nice. They must have been remodeled recently because they appeared to be almost brand new. Totally was not expecting that! It definitely made my experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Lastly, be forewarned that it is a dry campsite so it is not a good idea to be drinking openly. Again, I don't have much to compare it to but Dingman's Campground certainly made my first camping experience a pleasurable one. read more

Dingmans is a decent campground. As with any campground, your stay is often as good as the other people there. Who is camping, is a random thing. Sometimes groups are loud and keep you up. Sometimes you are loud and keep others up. If you rent boats, you can get a ride up river and then make your way down the water gap back to the campsite. That is a pretty good reason to use Dingmans. Sites are ok. Some sites are somewhat far from the showers. read more

Called on a Thursday for a Friday reservation and they had sites available for us in the middle of August. We arrived late Friday night and the office was closed, so we checked in in the morning instead. Upon arriving, it was DARK here. There was not one soul around. Just the way I like it! The sites here are very far apart and have lots of trees so you're not staring at your neighbors when sitting at your campfire. I really love this place and the river sites are even nicer. They do book up quick, about a month in advance on the weekends, so be sure to call ahead. The only downfall to this campground is no outside firewood and no alcohol. The employees in the office will be sure to remind you of these rules numerous times. If you're discrete enough and not being rowdy campers, you can slide by these rules, just saying. read more

Forget this place!!!!! I have been going here for 35 years. It's government owned but privately run. Who ever is running it now sucks!! They called me after I left and said I moved the campfire 6 feet. I explained to them I'm over 60 take my word I did not!! They said to bad and charged my credit card $35. Mixed feelings about this place. The good: Overall, it was a nice campground and we enjoyed our weekend there. We made it a point not to go during a holiday weekend to avoid noise and crowds, so it was pretty quiet and peaceful. It is also right on a very shallow area of the river and you can wade in and hang out there. So-so: The spots are in nicely wooded areas, which is good, however their sizes and layouts do vary a lot so we ended up choosing a different spot when we got there because the one we booked was very small and too close to other camp sites. Also, despite it not being a busy weekend, the bathroom was a mess and didn't get cleaned til the end of the weekend, and 2 out of the 3 stalls in the women's were broken. (If it WAS crowded that would have been a bigger issue.) The wood we got the second night burned well, but the first day it was damp and difficult to light. The bad: it was insanely hard to even get a reservation here because no one picked up the phone or answered email for two days even during office hours- eventually I got a call back. Also, there is poison ivy everywhere (?!) Seems like the responsible thing to do would be to fix this problem, but the LEAST you could do is warn people about it, especially considering this is a place where kids run around. I was lucky to have a savvy friend in my group who pointed it out but if he wasn't there I suspect we'd all be scratching hives for the next week. read more

My partner and I have been camping at Dingman's twice a year for the last 5. We have never seen a park ranger or met an employee on the grounds, (especially invading our campsite). The staff has always been helpful with advice on local hikes and river activities. We always camp on the river and it's very quiet there. The sites are a little close but I have never had a loud neighbor and we usually stay up late at night partying quietly. Sometimes the group campers can be rowdy, but never for long and the spots we pick are far away from the group sites anyway. SOME TIPS FOR THOSE WHO POSTED EARLIER... 1. Put the kids to bed early. 2. Learn how to quiet your dog. (most well trained dogs know how to stop barking if you have raised them well). leave them home if this is not possible. 3. HIDE your alcohol and pour it in a cup, dummy. Don't get hammered and start yelling like a frat boy. 4. Try to take in every hike you can. there are some amazing swimming holes around. 5. NOBODY LIKES YOUR MUSIC. turn it down or off and listen to the frogs and crickets. 6. Book in advance. I mean weeks in advance. BTW, we usually like truly primitive camping. Does anyone know of a primitive site that is remote where you can bring a dog and build a fire? I miss camping in other areas of the U.S. where this is possible and the nearest neighbor is mile away. We live in NYC and like to camp no more than 3 hours away. Have fun! read more

This had to be the worst camping experience ever (thanks to this facility and staff). The Space aka cubicles: the lots are separated by a thin line of trees (if you are lucky) some are only separated by logs to make boundaries Tents are practically on top of each other and the grounds are really small. the good spots (by the water) are spaced out a bit better, but the water is filled with rocks and shallow. Either way, it doesn't matter. The grounds are so small and laid out so poorly, you can hear your tent neighbor's conversations. The Staff: So, when my boyfriend and I got to the campgrounds, we were so excited to get away from the city and start our wilderness adventure (despite the crappy grounds) we didn't read the rules and didnt see the signs saying "no alcohol". (sorry). Within seconds of unpacking the beer, the staff came over and told us that there was no alcohol permitted. I apologized and said I didn't know and then he said... "So, you couldnt see the signs right when you came in that said no alcohol, or was it the rules that you couldn't read. I am going to be nice and not make you pour it out just as long as you put it back in the car and you better do that because i am coming back with a ranger tonight." This... was something that pissed us off. 1. if we KNEW it was not okay, would we have put it out on the picnic table in clear view of the road and the camp staff's house cabin?? 2. Freaking rude... last thing he needed to do was insult my intelligence and talking to me like i was 5... to add insult to injury... Late at night (about 2am) the same staff (Aussie accent), HAD ABOUT 10 of his friends being rowdy and SMOKING POT. Apparently drinking is not okay but smoking pot is... what he should have been doing was telling the arguing couple that swearing up a storm to be quiet in the hours past midnight and the families with dogs who couldn't stop barking... to the point that by 7 am the dog's voice was hoarse.. DO yourself a favor and DO NOT go here unless you are desperate and forgot to book a campground 2 days in advance. The only positive to this campground is that: 1. You can walk-in and probably still get a spot the day of.. 2. It is the only campground within the Delaware water gap 3. the bathrooms are somewhat clean. read more

Its definitely a Car Camping site. Some spots are closer to neighbors than others so you just need to check them out to match your needs. We did not go to the river and were in an RV spot near the front. You can see your neighbors but for the most part at least on our visit the neighbors are respectful. Extremely friendly staff. I love that I can bring my dogs without any headache from the staff. We were worried that ours would be the barking ones that some people mentioned but they were well-behaved and I didn't hear any others except the occasional one defending their campground when we walked by. Of course we've only been once! Alcohol free which I didn't mind and didn't experience any of the drama that some other reviewers had of our stuff being searched. Very quiet and dark once the sun goes down. Good family camping. I would return. Tips for future campers. More observations than complaints: #1 I'd pick up firewood or charcoal before you arrive The firewood sold to us for ~$8/bundle was too green or wet to use and ( Our fire did not catch despite trying for an hour to keep it going and we build fires all the time)... apparently that is something they've heard before so we were given no apologies. This was really the only annoying thing about our experience and would have been a real drag if everything else hadn't gone pretty smoothly. #2 Shoes for the bathrooms... they are super low-maintenance and even the woman at the front desk advised wearing water shoes in the shower. Plus side there is running hot/cold water. But the bathrooms were well placed and we had no trouble finding them. #3 Food supplies. The general store is ok but mostly junk food. A little pricey but that's to be expected. There is barely anything around there within 30 min drive so make sure you arrive prepared. Especially if you have a long day of hiking behind you because the closest restaurants are 30 minutes away. So unless you feel like taking a pretty but long drive looking for food make sure you are prepared. #4 If you are cooking at the site bring your own grill top for the fire pit or bring a grill or you can buy one when you get there. The store does have lots of supplies if you forget anything though. #5 So many great trails in that area! Make sure you pick up the map in the store! Very helpful. I've camped all over that area. Dingmans Campground is the best one I've stayed at. Right along the river, a lot of different sites, friendly staff, River trips, pretty good camp store, and really really bad cell service. Everything needed for a good camp experience. The campground is actually on state land so state laws are enforced. A lot of reviews complain about the park rangers and no alcohol allowed. You can drink here but be discrete. Those that are usually busted are the morons who party all night and are complete A-holes to everyone else around them. I wish the Rangers were actually a bit more visible. Last experience there, I had to deal with previously stated morons and A-holes. Nice bunch of 20 somethings but a loud. The river trip Dingmans provides is very leisurely and slow. You will have to paddle but quite beautiful. If you are looking for a more exciting trip, do the Pond Eddy to Matamoras trip. Fire wood is expensive but convenient.. read more

We ended up at dingleberries because our usual spot doesnt't allow dogs anymore. That last place was on the delaware gap and well, we thought that was a pretty sweet deal. Dingleberries is also on the gap, SCORE! We had site 120, right on the gap, close to the horseshoes, volleyball and open field great for activities. the portapotties (which had ample toiletries and a sink with pump water) were nearby also. We had a nice view of the river, too bad it got freezing. Might be nice in the summer though. We brought our dog, staff was friendly, neighbors were friendly, they were older men and offered us stew upon arrival since we arrived right before it was getting dark. Sites were close and you could hear your neighbors but if you want peace and serenity go wilderness camping!! Only complaint, wood was wet. Took forever to get a decent fire started, My husband was hacking away trying to make kindle and it just wouldn't take for almost 2 hours. Our friends even bought more wood but it was all the same. And although Dingleberries is almost 2 hours from our front door, We will go back read more

The locations is great in terms of the proximity to NJ & NYC metro area. The grounds are well maintained, the store carries a good amount of food/supplies, and the people are nice. The campsites are on the small side, but still pretty comfortable for 4 people. I'm sure it's more crowded in the summer. We didn't see many rangers, but we had alcohol in containers. Obviously don't leave beer cans out in the open. Overall great experience, if you are looking for a nice place for car camping. read more

I absolutely hated this campground, so I'm giving it 1 star. I realize though that other people may have a different idea of what "camping" is to them and so they might think this place is fine. I'll just explain my experience and others can decide for themselves what kind of camping experience they're into. Basically, if you're looking for a decently priced, pretty, quiet campground for a relaxing night of sleeping outdoors and listening to nature sounds and campfires crackling, this is NOT the place for you. If you're looking for a place to bring a huge group of friends, your loud kids, your obnoxious barking dogs, and your radio to blast your music for all your neighbors to hear, this place will probably be for you -- as long as you're also cool with nasty, muddy bathrooms and camping close to other large groups of people (who are often within spitting distance from you). It's worth mentioning though that a park ranger seems to circle the campground in a truck nonstop (another annoying thing), so if you're looking for a full-fledged drinking party, you'll definitely have to be discrete. As for me...the level of noise and the closely crammed campsites was not the experience I wanted, so I ended up leaving (even after paying the hefty $35 fee to camp there). Also...I'm not normally one to complain about the bathrooms (I've camped at plenty of places without bathrooms or water at all), but if I'm paying that much for a tent camping site...I'd expect the facilities to be clean and well maintained. Otherwise, what the hell is this money being used for? I just spent a month and a half driving up the East Coast from Texas to Maine, then down to Pennsylvania/New Jersey. I camped at a different place almost every night and this was the most expensive campsite out of all of them (and surprisingly the crappiest). I asked the people at the check-in office if they could refund my money since I had just arrived and paid about an hour prior, but they said no - no refunds!! I spent another hour sitting in my hammock tent wondering if I could tough it out since I had already spent the money, but I was miserable and wasn't going to get any sleep at all (especially with the constant noise of the barking dogs next to me), so I packed up and left to go camp in a friend's friend's backyard. I was definitely glad I did. The only thing this place has going for it is that it's in the Delaware Water Gap, which is a pretty area to explore. read more

I would come back, for sure. My long term boyfriend and I are late twenties/early thirties and just back to NYC after a 3 day, 4 night stay at Dingmans. It was a short ride on NJ Transit + 1.5 hr rental car drive away and every bit as restful as we'd hoped. I had been calling the few days up to our arrival to check on the status of the Delaware River after Hurricane Irene - the very friendly staff was in touch with the Park Rangers to ensure the the River Trips they run would be on - and assured me I could receive credit for the pre-paid stay if the River was deemed too high for kayaking after all. We arrived on Friday night and were thrilled to find on site firewood for cheap so we could pitch our tent and get the fire going before dark. The general store was well stocked and the staff member I'd been in touch with by phone even remembered my name. We were greeted with stern, but friendly instructions on the dos and don'ts of the campground. We were disappointed to hear that alcohol wasn't allowed, but had been warned when making the reservation ahead of time so were prepared for this news. In a state park this is to be expected - No one, however, checked our car to make sure we didn't have a nonchalant bottle of wine or two in the trunk. The wooded sites with water and electric hook-ups are on the smaller side, are closer to the road and therefore pedestrian and other traffic are more noticed. We stayed at one of the larger campsites without hook-up, which was well set back from the road. While the mosquitoes were vicious at times, and while on Friday and Saturday nights we were aware of other campers, we were not bothered by them or visited by Park Rangers. Sunday and Monday nights were particularly nice because it felt as if we were the only ones there - the grounds emptied out significantly. Water spigots are located near the bath-houses, which my partner (a male) reports to have been spotless, while the one I frequented left a bit to be desired, but had most of the basics - and very hot water! On Day 1 we hiked the trails around the campsite, Day 2 did the River Trip from Milford on kayaks (beautifully peaceful), and Day 3 drove south toward Culver Lake and hiked the Appalachian Trail to a look out tower and back - a good 4 hour hike. For those looking to play music, loud games, or party with alcohol, this is not your site. If you're looking for a calm, quite, well maintained campground with activities for kids and adults alike, this is your spot. Even though I'm in NYC and could easily pick a spot in the Catskills or Adirondacks, I'm happy to report that Dingmans at the Delaware Water Gap Recreational Area left little to be desired. read more

The campground has lots of trees. I was in an RV so loved the shade but the trees need to be trimmed. This park is not good for bigger rvs. I had seen this info on other sites and ignored it. The turns are tight and trees hang down all over. Office staff is great. read more

Off season, Last minute campers, drove in from Hoboken NJ to get away from the city for the weekend. Found the location on Google and took a chance as it was one of the few if not only campgounds in the Gap that are open year round. I have been to over a dozen parks all over the country and this place was one of the nicest privatly run facilities. We pulled in late on a friday. The gate was open yet the office was closed, although we didn't find that strange as it was off season. The sign said set up and find us in the morning, Easy enough as its common practice in the national parks. So we picked our own wooded site, all of the sites we passed were well spread apart and unique if you want to feel distance from your neighbors there are plenty of sites to choose from, and none were to far from the bathhouses (also very clean and well kept w/free hot showers) While setting up we were greeted by the owner Walt who was very pleased to have us. He kindly offered to Drop of some fire wood, told us to enjoy our night and would catch up with us in the morning. The honer system alone made us feel very welcome. Met up with Walt the owner in the general store/office the following morning. The store is well setup with everything you need while you stay and a beyond. You quickly got a real sense of the care and attention to detail Walt takes in running the campground. Very friendly and accommodating. To simplify this place is Highly recommended !!! Great location within the water gap. Easy access from north or south. Huge choice of tent sites. We will stay next to the water next time. RV sites with hookups. Clean well working bathhouses. Close proximity to Falls and trails. The type of place you will want to return. As far as the alcohol is concerned its a gov. enforced rule and it may be a deal breaker for some but if you can go without or keep it on the DL which I don't recommend based on the others experience with the rangers you will enjoy yourself. read more

The only reason we picked Dingmans was because the grounds are in close proximity to many trails and waterfalls; however due to a recent storm, the majority of those trails are now closed for the season or indefinitely due to the sever damage. Aside from that the spaces are SUPER close to each other. Luckily we went during a weekend when it seemed like it was very empty but I cannot imagine going when it's a full house. That would be really weird being so close to another family. You also only get one table per site, which is great if you have a group of four. We paid for a site for 10 people and had to take turns eating and sitting by the table. When questioned staff said it's one table per site - does not matter if it's 4, 10 or 15 people - one table. Most of the staff seemed friendly; however, there was one woman who seemed mad that anyone was there. She was abrasive and talked to our group like we were criminals or her unruly children- which we certainly were not. We also were not aware it was a dry site. We brought 24 beers for a group of 10 for the whole weekend , we Were openly drinking as we were unaware. Rangers came by with guns , walked through our site , searching for god knows what and gave us tickets for over 200 bucks for drinking on state park. If you want to have any type of contained, controlled regular fun, it's not the place to go. read more

Downside was the restrooms. We ended up using the restrooms in Dingmans Fall visitor center. We were here on Labor Day long weekend and staff didn't clean up the restroom for the whole weekend and they were in terrible condition and clogged on the second day. Our worse experience in terms of campground restroom and shower. However, the campground location gets 5 star. We stayed on site number 26 because we were looking for a more secluded spot. There was a trail behind our campsite that takes you to the woods and half way to Dingmans fall. There's also a road very close to the campground so if you're sensitive to noise you should reserve a spot on the other side of the campground. Also it was inconvenient that the fire ring didn't have a grill top. Their store has basic supplies like wood, water, snacks and some gears. Overall we had a pleasant stay but wasn't among the best places we had camped. read more

Although this is a beautiful campground with camping accommodations for tent campers in the campground itself or campsites right along the Delaware River. Campsites for campers with water hookup ad electricity. The property is beautiful with the MacDade Trail close by for hiking or riding bikes. Have camped there several times and had enjoyed it. My only complaint is although they have fairly new bathrooms, they have been disgustingly filthy this year and 2 years ago when I was there. Covid and lack of help can not be the only reason because they were the same way 2 years ago. They have signs posted that because of Covid restrictions the bathrooms are monitored on a regular basis and cleaned frequently. That is not the case. No hand soap in the bathrooms. Low on toilet paper. Even the garbage dumpsters were over flowing. Twice this year we were there and the place had very few campers there for the size of the campground. I understand that even though this is federal property it is privately owned. Who ever the owner is, come on man. You wouldn't want to use bathroom facilities that looked like your campgrounds. You have a gold mine there with a beautiful piece of property but because you hardly have any campers it should be telling you something. With Covid still lurking around is all the more reason than normal to keep sanitary conditions. If you don't want to maintain it so people can get back to living and enjoying nature after a horrible and stressful year and a half then sell it to somebody who wants to maintain a clean environment just as they would their own property. read more

If you enjoy camping, having a few beers with friends, and having complete privacy, do NOT come here. If you enjoy fast paced, rapid river trips, do NOT come here. If you enjoy being covered in hundreds of different bug species, this is your place. The National Park Service patrols each campsite and hands out tickets for ANY alcohol, and then illegally searches your stuff. If they find any more alcohol, you will be forced to dump out whatever you have on the spot, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a National Park Service, seeing as how dumping out anything into the forest can cause harm to vegetation and wildlife. The campsites are over priced, the kayak trips are boring and you have to have a strong back and good arms just to paddle down the river since there is literally NO current. The staff is made up of kids who don't go through rules correctly, and the general store has a wide selection of absolute garbage. My advice, spend your money elsewhere, and avoid getting tickets for "having a beer while camping". read more

It is a pretty place, beautifully laid out and maintained , but when it comes to other things to call it as a campground, this is one of the worst campgrounds around I went to. It should be called a military rule ground. I went here with a bunch of friends to have a good time, and when I am saying a good time...that doesn't mean partying and getting wasted. First they didn't give us enough parking, half of our friend had to parking all the way in the front and walk down even after we had 2 campsites booked. And our campsites were in the extreme end so it was quite a long walk. The first night we got there late as we left friday after work and at 10 pm, the park patrol came and warned us to be quiet because we were just talking to each other inside our tents going to bed, which felt awkward. The next day comes, we all woke up late....and setup the campsite for grilling our food for lunch and all. We all went to play volleyball in the after noon and then we all went hiking at a nearby spot....BTW the hiking trail near this campground is truly amazing. By evening we fire up our grills for cooking food and playing card games , All of sudden the park rangers come looking for us, specifically our campsite, so as their duty they took away the alcohol kept there, which was not even opened at all, coz we realized the no alcohol policy there. We were just still cooking and eating our food, and we get fined by them as well. I wouldn't say it was a bad thing, but atleast the park patrol could have gave a heads up instead of sending rangers straight to us. We didn't had any music blasting or nothing, our campsite was so far in the end, we were not even bothering any neighboring sites as behind our site was deep woods we were in the extreme end They should either turn this place into purely a summer camp place for kids or shut it off, this place is not good to go with friend at all even if your are not drinking. My boyfriend and I camped out here this past weekend. We loved it! Excellent location, secluded, very quiet and peaceful. Last minute booking too. We were going to originally stay closer to the Delaware Water Gap but the campsites around there were booked. I'm glad we stayed here instead though! Friendly staff, well equipped general store, AM coffee, well cared for facilities and campsites. We were able to switch campsites once we got there which was excellent! The closest food mart is about 30 minutes away so be sure your cooler is well stocked beforehand. Nearby (20 minutes) is Edge of the Woods outfitters launch site for kayaking, canoeing and such. Another excellent spot! Best prices and friendliest staff for any of kayaking businesses around. That being said, we will be camping out here again this fall! read more

My friends and I have been there multiple times in the past couple of years and here are my comments. We also go camping often, different places on the east coast (love woodland valley in Catskills) Most recently we were there this past weekend June 30-July 3, 2017. So the campground get a tiny bit of a pass over the holiday weekend. 1) there were A LOT of ticks. We found 5 on 1 person the first day (and did not go hiking or walk through the woods that day) and found another one when we got home in her hair. 2) the campgrounds facilities were recently redone and were definitely an improvement. However, it being a holiday they should have cleaned the facilities much more often. They were dirty EVERYDAY after our first day (mud puddles in toilet/showers), people left adult diapers on the sink (it was there for a couple of hours), and only 1 toilet was working in both women's and men's bathrooms (overflowed toilets/appears to be problems with the septic systems). 3) my last comment is about enforcing quiet hours or just general respect of other campers. There were 2 sites of many people (more than 10) that were towards the middle of the campground who were playing LOUD music ALL day (from about 730-8 until past 10 PM). The campground/rangers did eventually kick them off after about a day and a half. read more

I really don't understand the previous reviewers problems with this campground. We drove up from Philadelphia to meet some friends from NYC for a weekend out of the cities. We brought our two dogs and couldn't be happier with our camping experience. (We're in our late 20's, early 30's and still enjoy a good time while camping...) it seems that the previous reviewers were just looking for a place to party. Tough luck guys. Most campgrounds prohibit alcohol. I don't remember the last time I went to a campground that allowed it. And Dingman's doesn't hide this policy. (Seriously - it's prohibited at most, if not all, state campgrounds...) We always drink when we camp, but we do so in a respectful manner so we've never been called out for it. Call it respect for fellow campers, call it sheer luck - but we had a few brews and wines around the fire and had absolutely no issues with the staff. Yes, if you're going to be loud after 10PM - you're going to get busted. Not everyone wants to be kept awake by you. It's why people go camping - to get away from the stress and noises of life. We had no problems staying up until midnight, drinking around the campfire. I'm glad the rangers call people out for being loud because there's nothing worse than being kept up by obnoxious campers. If you want a peaceful campground - Dingmans is a place for mature campers. OK rant over about the "boo hoo I can't drink my beer" reviews. 1. The Staff: Amazing. Simply wonderful. At every turn. From dealing with them in the general store, to the canoeing trip we took, to their "rounds" around the campsites. Yes, they did drive around every few hours to check on campers. (I like that, it assures we have a nice expereince!) Each time they greeted us and had something cheery to say. We experienced a bad thunderstorm and the flooded tent that went with it and a camp ranger explained the next AM how to waterproof our tent. (Who knew that seams needed to be re-waterproofed each year?) They were very welcoming about our dogs, and even let us take them on the canoe trip. On the ride up-river one of our dogs is very nervous in the car and our guide basically held our dog the entire time. 2. The sites - It's a typical campground. Some sites were tiny, while the "outer" sites provided plenty of room. If you showed up late in the game and got a small site, well that just sucks. It's a part of camping and it happens to everyone eventually. We arrived around 7PM and drove around and picked a site we thought would work for us. I wonder if previous campers have ever camped at a campground before. It's rare to be "out of view" from other campers. If you want "walk-in" sites - seek them out - don't go to a campground and expect not to see and hear other campers. (Back to being respectful about drinking and loudness...) Part of camping at campgrounds is the communal feel. Again - if you don't want to see anyone, a campground is not where you should camp. We stayed at site 26 and had a ton of room for two tents. 3. The surrounds: Awesome. Tons of waterfalls to hike to. The helpful staff gave us a print out of the best falls and we hiked to two in one day for a swim. The river was great and we took one of their canoeing trips down river for a day of sun and swim. Good times. (Kinda pricey - but worth it for a day of fun. $40 per person, dogs free!) 4. Bathrooms: Weren't the loveliest, but again - we're camping. I've seen better, I've seen worse. The Porta-Potties were spotless though! The only thing I'd wish for was more water pumps, but the bathrooms were so close it didn't really make a difference. That's my view. If you want a quiet campground within the park boundaries - this is a great option. No, they do not appreciate loud campers who want to party all night - but those are the campers that annoy the rest of us. If you want a peaceful camping option close to the river and waterfalls - this is the place for you. There are 10 sites right on the river (already booked when we arrived) which look pretty killer. Otherwise, go for the outer ring; Site 26 was perfect for us. And we couldn't be happier with the staff. read more

Decent place to camp, nice views for the most part. But the campsites are pretty close together, which I'm not to fond of. Also no Alcohol allowed in the camp site so drink at your own risk.. However there a great places to hike close by and to swim. Bath rooms were clean and had running water for showers. read more

Just stayed here this past weekend and was not terribly pleased by the park ranger's gusto in enforcing laws. If you are looking for a quiet place to take kids and go to sleep early, this may be the place for you. If you plan to bring alcohol, or stay up talking with friends, then I recommend you go elsewhere. Also, the camp sites are closer together than most tent camping I have been to before. In general, I would recommend you consider elsewhere. read more

Staff was very friendly, they had activities (volleyball, horseshoes, a field to run around in) for kids. The location is perfect. There are a ton of trails and falls, scenic overlooks, etc nearby. They rent canoes I believe, but we didn't do that (though there are places to launch from, some of the other guests had brought kayaks). The campsites are well maintained, but a bit close together. Maybe a bit pricey for the amount of space/privacy you get. The sites on the river, where my son and I stayed, are really nice. My biggest qualm was that the staff didn't have enough "gusto" to quiet down the young couples and groups around who wanted to stay up late having loud conversations. I felt bad that I was the only one there with a kid who wanted to sleep (around 11 pm, he's 4 so his bedtime is usually 8), but to the other guests' credit, when I politely asked that they keep it down a bit they did, so it wasn't a huge problem. So the pluses are that there are tons of things to do during the day, staff was friendly, the sites, during the day, offer a decent amount of privacy and the river-side sites are beautiful. Cons are that either a) if you're there with your kids it might be too loud at night or b) if you're there with friends some old killjoy like me will wander over with a flashlight and request that you keep it down. But overall a great time was had by all. read more
