This campground's location is ideal for those who want to canoe and hike the Delaware Water Gap areas and have a comfy base to embark and return to daily. Personally I appreciate that the staff and Park Rangers enforce quiet hours and such. They give full warning to this factor! Our camping neighbors at this campground were friendly and family oriented. The Park Rangers conducted fantastic interpretive programs right within the campground for the children! There was plenty of water pressure and easy accessible sites. Each site was large. They have a dump out type station for sewer at exit... I also utilize their bathrooms for a shower . Showers were primitive (but with hot water). I could imagine the bathrooms becoming easily overwhelmed as there were few of them. Note; when I camped at Dingman's there were very few other campers present at the campground. It rained heavily one night we were there and we didn't experience any flooding. The sites were gravel and drained well. I highly recommend the canoe trips they offer... doesn't matter if you're an experienced canoe enthusiast or completely novice - the trip they offer is prefect for anyone. Keep in mind you're in the middle of a National Park... bring everything you need as you're far away from well stocked stores... you won't get cell service (if you use your phone for taking photos turn off all cell connections for your phone will die quick as it searches for signals)... If you're tent camping try to reserve a site right on the river... they looked like spectacular sites. Sue & Harold May, 2011 Recently, on a trip from Maine to Kentucky, we discovered the Delaware River Water Gap National Recreation Area. What a beautiful spot! We were pointed that direction by a nice man at the visitor center when we asked about a pretty spot to stop and eat our lunch--what a gift he gave us! We determined that we would stop again on our return trip, and on that occasion discovered the Dingmans Falls Campground. We spent the night and have already made reservations to return in June! The campground, run by the personable and very helpful Wally, was an absolutely wonderful place! The campsites were large, and although they are all in beautiful settings, if you are going to be tenting, you can have river sites that are gorgeous! If you need recreation areas, there is a great beach volleyball court, horseshoe pits and large open areas that I am sure could be used for almost anything you wanted to set up. There were fire pits at the campsites, and of course, wood available for purchase. A lovely log cabin contains a camp store for incidentals, and there is wi-fi service there as well (you have to go to the store for this--the signal does not reach the rest of the campground). There are the usual campground rules, things that most of us are actually grateful for! The superb bike trail that runs the entire length of the Rec Area runs right past the campground store. Bike riders will love it! If you want to be on the river, and if you can swim, you can rent water craft to play in and arrange for a drop off up stream so you can come down with the current to the campground. The birding was great! Given the diverse habitat, I imagine it would continue to be good all summer and into the fall. We were hardly out of the car at the falls when we heard and then saw a Louisiana waterthrush, and the yellow warblers were everywhere! As I said, we are already planning a return trip to this wonderful area....and the wonderful campground! If you are looking for a well-run, beautiful place to camp in a beautiful setting, call Dingmans Fall Campground in the Delaware River Water Gap Recreational Area! And...you must call, because they are not set up for computer registration at this point. Plus...this will give you a chance to talk to Wally! An additional note to those planning to visit the Water Gap area--there is limited cell service! While you can send text messages, you may well find that your cell phones will not call while you are in the area. A small price to pay for a visit to the DRWG! Enjoy! read more

This place is one of the best campgrounds I've been to in years. Great campsites, great staff, great facilities, great location. We came up for a weekend campout, got there pretty late (9:30) and had no problem checking in. Our site was really good: two flat places for tents, secluded enough even on a busy summer weekend, not muddy. We walked through most of the camp over the course of the weekend and I was checking out other sites because we already knew we'd be coming back; I didn't see any that were obviously bad sites. We were at #34 which was great--there's a fairly secluded loop there which is closer to the road, but away from the rest of camp. Otherwise, the clear prime real estate is the sites by the river...but I would avoid the ones right next to the river access because it will be loud all day. If I have one gripe it's that the fire pits are kind of small...basically oil drum size, so even some of their own pre-chopped firewood is too wide to fit very well. The bathrooms were very clean, had plenty of hot water and TP; the store had a surprising supply of useful stuff and the prices weren't gouging. We also went canoeing with them, which was amazingly convenient: go park next to the store, they take you up the river and you wind up right back at the camp next to your car. The no alcohol thing gets a bad rap here, but it's part of a general vibe of clean and friendly. If you were the kind of person who really wanted to drink, I feel quite confident that with a cup or water bottle and the sense of a 12 year old you could manage to have a good time while not disturbing anyone else. Did I mention that it's beautiful, and the stars are amazing? There's a huge field down by the river, we had clear nights and the milky way was amazing, shooting stars every few minutes. The bathrooms are the weak point, but they were okay. Good hot water tanks. The staff is the strongpoint. The water access is a bonus. Some tent sites are right on the Delaware River. It is close to some really nice trails and an environmental center called Peec. The town of Milford is a ten minute drive away. Super cute galleries and boutiques. Call in advance for a reservation if you require electricity. They also offer canoeing and tubing right there at the campgrounds. The general store is bright and cheery. They sell milk and eggs. No citronella fuel. They do have propane bottles. read more

I just want to add, you will NOT be okay if you pour your beer in solo cups. That's what we did and we were still harrassed by the park staff. If you plan to drink alcohol, do not even risk it. Just go to a campground where alcohol is permitted and you're not treated like a criminal for drinking a beer at 30 years old. It'll also save you a lot of money as you won't get kicked out and still charged for the additional night and forced to dump all your alchol out even though they're having you leave the grounds immediately. read more

I'm sad to write this review because I have been to this campground several times and have had enjoyable experiences. This was my first time at Dingmans with a pop-up and the space provided was VERY close to neighbors on all sides (it was Memorial Day weekend). On previous visits I have seen rangers around several times quieting people after quiet hours. This was not the case on this trip. There was a very large and noisy group next to us keeping us up. The bathrooms could have been cleaner and close to $40 for a pop up site is steep. I write this review in the hopes that campground staff will make some changes. I will use this campground again just because the waterfalls and hiking are so amazing. read more

Our experience was not as bad as the other reviews, but I have stayed at better campgrounds. Despite the strict "rules" stated in the campground's policies - we had a great time. Pour your drinks in solo cups and smoke behind your tent. Keep to yourself and you won't be bothered. Obey the quiet hours - which I can honestly were not enforced enough! I woke up twice after a long day of hiking to yelling and rowdiness. We were these "overzealous employees" when I needed them? If you want to stay up late yelling, laughing, and getting rowdy - go to the Jersey Shore. That being said, the staff was nice and helpful. The sites were nice - but some were too close together. Choose a site from their map that has a lot of space buffering you from other sites. The bathrooms were disgusting. They weren't cleaned once during the three days we were there and the lack of dumping stations forced people to discard their food-trash in the bathroom garbages... gross and unsanitary. The campground is right off of CR-209 which has significant traffic during the summer - so you'll here the occasional truck, motorcycle, and car throughout the night... not very tranquil. There are many good trails and hikes for all levels near-by. The general store has everything you need. Dingman's only gets two stars because of the really gross bathrooms/showers, lack of dumping stations, and proximity to the highway. I'll probably check out another site if I camp in this area again. If you can deal with gross bathrooms and less-than-par tranquility... go for it. read more

It is a pretty campground; we had a site down by the river. It is a privately run campground on public land. The employees are college kids, and they don't always seem very engaged at their jobs. We did the 2 night stay with a 1/2 canoe trip package. It was August, and the Delaware was low. I didn't find anyone policing my alcohol consumption. Concerns were: 1) port-a-johns by the river were scary dirty and got no service in the 2.5 days that we were there. 2) The bathhouse was also in bad shape. The worst being the exposed electrical wiring on the bath house ceiling beams. When not by the river, the spots elsewhere looked very close together. 3) Bridge noise. The first night, I thought we were in an airport landing zone. Turns out there is a small metal bridge over the Delaware, less than a mile down river. You hear every car, as the tires go over that grooved tollbridge all night. It's not the worst I've stayed at, but It is also not the best. read more

I had a great time here with friends family this past weekend. The staff was friendly, the grounds were clean, and our view of the river was beautiful. Unfortunately, due to flooding of the river in other areas and the pace it was moving prevented us from getting in but it was great anyway. Some of the other reviews almost prevented us from booking this campground because they were so negative, but I honestly don't know what anyone is talking about. Everyone was nice and no one bothered us. They explained the rules that they expected us to follow, but no one harassed us as others have stated. The bath houses were clean, I would prefer those over the porta potties, but that's just my own thing. I give 4 out of 5 stars only because they did not provide a grill rack in the fire pit and instead sold one to us, I think that is extremely tacky. We would definitely go here again. read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because our site was actually very nice - well maintained and fairly spacious compared to others we've been to. The rest of the weekend was a nightmare. First, we were told in no uncertain terms that there were only 2 tents per site with a maximum number of people, so we had to book two sites and split our family. Behind us there were two adjacent sites occupied by 9 tents and an RV, and well over 20 people including children and dogs (not on leashes). They were drinking, breaking up the trees, and camping on the areas between the sites and yelling. The first night they kept us up until 3 am. The second night they kept us up until 1:30. When we complained to staff after the first night, the response was "sorry". The explanation was that they arrived after the office closed. The bathrooms were disgusting. We had soap one of the four days and toilet paper only two of the days. We asked the man "cleaning" the bathroom if he would bring toilet paper, and he said later. Later was over 6 hours and by the time we went to bed that night there was again no toilet paper. There was vomit on the floor. All 3 toilets in the mens room were clogged most of the weekend. There was wet toilet paper stuck all over the floor. We ended up using the port a potties which were considerably cleaner. Again, we went to the office and were simply told "sorry". The rangers were non-existent after 10 pm the first night, otherwise we would've talked to them. What really bothers me is that we were required to pay for 2 sites and it appears others were not. And we checked, they were not family or group sites. In any event we could over look that if they had just asked them to respect "quiet time" and we had gotten more sleep, or if those in the office had done ANYTHING about any of the other issues. We will not be returning to this campsite again. read more

This was a terrible campground. We were harrassed the entire time we were there by overzealous teenage camp employees. It was ridiculous and totally unnecessary. All of the excitement and planning to get away to the country for a little R&R from our stressful corporate jobs and instead I was looking forward to Monday at work because it would be less stressful than my weekend was. If you can find another campground, or are looking at different options, defnitely go somewhere else. read more

Went here for a quite family trip. Thats the LAST TIME! At night my husband and I sat around the camp fire after my 6 year old son went to sleep and wanted to relax. The park rangers literally snuck up behind us (with their flashlights off and tip toeing) and then suddenly flashed their lights at us and started looking around our site. Totally alarming us. They then proceeded to tell us they heard a bear was in the area (the same excuse they used the weekend before with my sister!) THEN proceeded to shine their lights in our tent where my son was sleeping! It was really, really obnoxious. We obviously weren't drinking and didn't appreciate their "spy" ways. Its a beautiful campground but not worth the sneaky accusatory ways of the owners! read more

This is the worst campground I've ever been to. HORRRRIIBBLLLEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Privacy what so ever!!!!! Theres no trees or bushes between you and your neighbors. Horrible experience. Your right on top of each other. The fire wood they sell there, soaking wet and damp. Would not light until we dried it out and used half a bottle of lighter fluid which they sold to us. Also the sites are very tiny.. Portal bathrooms are disgusting! Overall environment is uncomfortable. God help you if you do 2mph over the limit there (5mph) they will literally chase after you and yell at you. Not people that are caring about your camping experience but more about running their business and taking your money and lots of it. 9:30PM watch out because the park troopers come sneaking into your campsite and will harass you and check your coolers even if its in your car. I had a nice fire going, 2 friends, quietly talking and relaxing, drinking a six pack of non alcoholic beer and they stillll made use dump it out.... DO NOT GO HERE. A good review is from a camper that doesn't know any better. Not they're fault they dont know anything about camping. DO NOT GO HERE, go elese where for cheaper and where you can have privacy and enjoy a light drink quietly without having a swat team sneak into your campsite. read more

I live within a half hour of the campground, at the lower end of the park, and have camped here a few times doing river trips. When river levels are low, the river access can be tough unless you know the approach to take. During low water, you'll have to drag your canoe over the rounded rocks the last 10 or 20 meters to the shore. If your boat's overloaded, you'll have to walk a bit further. Don't take out too soon. Go to the sign in the river that points the way and approach from below the sign. You'll see the way in to the access. Another option is to take out at the Dingman's access just up the road, then walk back to the campgrounds and get a vehicle to pick up equipment, but I've always just opted for the campground access. There is room to wade in the river at the campground, but no deep swimming hole right there at the access. Explore a little and you can find one. Patrols by camp staff are regular, which is nice if you have a problem. Staff were super friendly and helpful, but not intrusive if you don't need them. We were offered use of a cell-phone when ours went dead. Cell phone service is spotty, though, which is the case all along the rte 209 corridor in the Park. This is a wilderness area. Most state and national parks prohibit alcohol, so plan accordingly. Expect to get into trouble if you don't follow park rules - if the campground owners blatantly disregard the National Park rules, I'm sure they'd lose their concession. If you are not a rowdy teenager, then you should be an intelligent adult and won't have a problem. There are signs explaining National Park rules at the entrance, and they were also explained them to us at sign-in. If you are stupid enough to open a six-pack and start guzzling despite the warnings, then you deserve to be harassed by staff who would like to keep their jobs. If you get busted for something in the campground, it's because you were bothering someone who complained. Rangers are called in if needed, but I haven't seen any in the campground for anything other than a nuisance or emergency call. You aren't as quiet as you think you are when you're drinking. Have some respect for other campers. We should be able to hear the frogs, crickets and owls once in a while. Quiet hours are reasonable, 11p.m. to 6 a.m., so it accommodates both late-nighters and early risers. My most recent stay involved a group of almost twenty people ranging in age from 20 to mid 60s, with five dogs, who gathered for a couple days canoeing on the river. We didn't all know each other and were arriving at various times until closing, but the first arrivals left a message at the desk to watch for later arrivals, and they made sure we got situated closely together. We chose wooded sites 75-78, which were more than spacious enough for the group and the multitude of vehicles and canoes that arrived. We were all in tents, hammocks and camper-vans, mostly in singles and pairs, and all with our own river gear, so there was a lot of equipment around and we had room for all. Parking spaces are well-defined by log barriers, so you can judge what size site you will need. We chose these sites because #77 has a parking area long enough for a van with canoe trailer, plus two other cars. There is overflow parking available a short walk from all the sites, too. We stayed up until the wee hours around the campfire and had a very enjoyable time. Outside wood is prohibited due to the threat of invasive insects (Emerald Ash Borer), but wood is available at a reasonable price from the camp store. Make reservations in summer, but off season they seem to be only necessary for the very-popular sites right by the river. A campground map is available on the Campground's website which gives you a bit of an idea of the layout if you've never been there. If renting equipment, sign up early, because even in the off season, on a nice day the kayaks can go quickly. They seem to be more popular. Canoes are less of an issue. Bathrooms are centrally located to all the wooded sites. They are older, basic, but well-maintained, cleaned daily, and supplies seem to be monitored well. Showers are hot and free. If the campground is full, there could very well be a wait for a turn at the shower, though. There are more toilet stalls than showers. There are plenty of hiking trails around, both right from the campground, and all through the national park. You are within 15 minutes of a small town with any amenity you could need, and the camp store is well stocked with emergency items, snacks, lunch items, and coffee. This is a National Park, have respect. Campground rules are the same as National Park rules, because you are in the Park. The Delaware Water Gap is a huge park with some beautiful things to see. If you want a drinking experience, go to a bar. If you want a camping experience, Dingman's Campground is just about perfect. read more

I felt the campground was a wonderful place to bring my family.The bathrooms definatly need some updating. But the staff was very welcoming and pleasant answering any questions we had. So what you cant drink Oh Well it's not party beach, its a national park deal with it. I wish the Park Rangers would have patroled more and kept the rowdy group of campers next to us keep it quite. This was the worst campgrounds i ever visited and Ive been camping every year since i was 2yrs old !! The people working the grounds harrassed us the entire weekend over our radio , our fire, everything !! It was ridiculous sitting there at night with flashlights pointed to the outskirts of the site because the enitre time you felt watched, so uncomfortable and unecessary. I definately do not recommend this campground. The area is beautiful and has many waterfall trails, find another camprgound if your heading to this area !! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

So lets be clear...Dingmans is a family campground for people who love nature and want to be outdoors. It is not for sorority or fraternity types who want to screw and get drunk. they dont allow drinking but if you have a few beers and dont act like a bunch of idiots you can enjoy yourself. the rates are cheap and the size of the campsites are just fine. you have the river, boating, store, waterfalls, nearby town what else can you ask for. if you want to camp and be outdoors here is the place plus its only 1.5 hours from NYC. if you want a party camp to screw and get drunk try Kittatiny its a dump in the woods perfect for that. read more
