It's something unique to do so I reserved tickets for this virtual reality experience. A little pricy in my opinion but once you experience it and see it you can appreciate all the technology and effort that went in to creating it. We were able to find nearby street parking at a cost on Saturday, 2 hrs max, but there are garages available as well. Upon entering, you check-in at the desk, provide your tickets, and complete the waiver forms. You each get assigned a name to be recognized within your party while you're wandering the virtual reality course as a team. There are others on the course that you will see but they're on their own route and all you see is a silhouette in the viewfinder. Following check-in, you walk to the back of the building where they fit you with a headset and give you a brief on how to wear it and what to do. It's really simple. Arrows guide you along your route, along with the narrator robot in the viewfinder, while explaining various things along your journey. It's very interesting and educational, although not the real Peruvian experience. They offer souvenirs and other mementos at the end related to the experience. They vary the courses over the months so that one will play for a period of weeks and then another. Highly recommend for something different and educational for the whole family. There can be a lot of walking and standing over the course of nearly an hour which may not be for everyone unless you bring a chair to sit in. I did see a gentleman in a wheelchair being pushed around which I thought was great to be able to experience.

There is a special seating area for parents, a child-sized replica of Julia Child's kitchen, farm replica complete with a hen house, construction area, and the piece de resistance -- a discovery climbing station. There is a museum employee at the front door who helps check guests in, but I suggest having an actual play space attendant to make sure that things do not go array. It can get crowded quick and there are lot of really big kids mixed in with the babies/toddlers and I feel like if there is not dedicated eyes on all corners things could get pretty crazy. Bring a pack of sanitizer wipes, lower your expectations, and make sure you are keeping an eye on your child and you'll have a great time!

The reason you'd go here instead of there is simply convenience. The seats are rigid and small, and it's not a great way to watch a long event movie. The first two rows were apparently held vacant for my showing, which makes me wonder why you'd build a theater where the front row seats are so bad that they're blocked from use. I arrived early, but despite them having no trailers apart from a commercial for the museum you're already in, my movie still started 10-15 minutes after the listed time and thus finished rather late at night. It just isn't the top-notch entertainment experience I think that the nation's capital deserves.

It seems like people don't realize they are showing Hollywood movies here after dark because the theater was at least 75% empty. It is very clean and comfortable, and the massive screen really makes a difference. A few tips: + You have to enter on the Jefferson Street side, which is the entrance facing the Mall. + They do have concessions. You can get popcorn, though it's the prepackaged kind, not fresh. There are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, too. We had a tasty IPA from Red Bear. The museum lets you bring in bottled water, too. + The seats, while padded and comfortable, do not lean back, so it is difficult to see the screen unless you are sitting in the top half of the theater. I say Row J and above are best. You choose seats at the time of buying tickets. + When you enter, go left, there are signs for the theater, but there were also plenty of guards present telling people where to go. It was pretty easy. At the end of the show, the bathrooms are located in the basement level. The main drawback here is the theater has very bright blue lights illuminating the stairs that are not turned off during the movie. They completely wash out the bottom 10-20% of the screen. For the Bride, only a few scenes were in the IMAX format, so it wasn't a huge deal, but if you see an action movie that uses the format more, I can see it really ruining the experience. It seems like a pretty easy fix to block the lights from shining on the screen, like little covers over the top of the light fixtures, so the fact that they don't do anything about it is pretty disheartening. Overall, it is a unique experience worth trying, but if you are a lover of the IMAX format and are seeing a movie you are excited about, I have to recommend finding another IMAX option if you can.

I reserved timed tickets for us online and they were free! We arrived a little bit after our entry time, but it wasn't a problem. There was a short line to get in. We had a great time exploring the exhibits. The place is huge! We enjoyed the Star Wars items and seeing Amelia Earhart's plane. The Wright Brothers exhibit was also very cool! The gift shop was huge and we each got an astronaut (freeze dried) ice cream to enjoy.

This museum is epic, with all the huge planes hanging from the ceiling and so many displays of space equipment. I could have stayed much longer reading all the signs and looking at all the displays- this museum is incredibly comprehensive, with so many creative and diverse ways of sharing information- from walking onto part of a plane to interactive visual displays to historical pieces of items from space missions. My kids (8 & 10) were not very interested in most of it. This was surprising to me. They didn't have the patience to read about most of the items, and they generally wanted to move on to the next museum. I loved it, though! The section for planes from WWII was closed. There was a children's area in an open floor space and kids could run around a bit, but the items provided geared on the younger side. We stopped at multiple stations in different sections where staff had an activation and would answer questions about the topic of their station. We scored a pair of 3-day passes and ended up going on Fri (~5.5 hrs) & Sun (~4 hrs). Given how expansive the event was, we tried our best to do a little bit of everything (video games, panels, celebrity sightings, cosplay, vendors, book fair, tabletop gaming, etc.) There were certain activities we never got around to, but that was highly dependent on what my DS gravitated to. Given his age and attention span, we kept gravitating back to the (free play) video games ... go figure! They could have done better with traffic, no officers directing traffic, so that was a nightmare getting into event, not to mention ncf, could have done a better job putting information on map what lot parking was going to be in, trying to find the lot to park in was hell , as well as parking was $20, overall I had a good experience, can't wait to see what headliners are for next year.

Its all about the Monet, Monet, Monet…read more... I've always enjoyed the works of Impressionist Claude Monet, and here you get to experience his works projected on floor to ceiling screens. There's a short section with informational panels about his life and his process (TL:DR- LOL). Unexpectedly, there is also a section that recreates his studio and his garden at Giverny. (Note: I visited his house several years ago and obvs they have taken liberties here). Enough about this, what about the immersive experience? If you've attended the Van Gogh experience, I think that was superior. Maybe it's Monet's artwork, but projected like this, it's not as interesting. Maybe it has to do with the proportions, but it's a lot more impressive when there are just a few large paintings than several. And the music quite frankly was putting us to sleep. However, it is quite interesting when he revisits the same location and repaints it over the years. And of course the water lilies are gorgeous. The abrupt ending with caricatures of (famous?) people was a strange choice to end this experience. The projection area is set up nicely with chairs, benches and bean bags and everywhere you sit is a good spot for viewing. Just settle in and get comfortable. Optionsl to purchase a VR experience. The gift shop is tasteful and has lots to choose from. When is the Klimt show, I'm still waiting.

If you went to the Van Gogh exhibit, you should know what to expect: A room with information on the…read moreartist's life, information on his painting style, and lots of reproductions of his art. This exhibit was different from the Van Gogh in some respects. The first room we entered a Victorian-like parlor with furniture and artwork. From there, you go into a garden with hanging flowers and blue and green lights. From there, you go into the main room with the artist's works animated in a half-hour loop. There are bean bag cushions on the floor and numerous sling chairs on which to sit. From there you go into the last area, where you can select a drawing based on the artist's paintings and color it in. (The crayons were clearly left over from the Van Gogh exhibit and needed something to make the points finer.) Unlike the prior exhibit, there was as scanner we used to take a picture and display it on a screen. You can also pay extra to do a VR experience, but as my boyfriend and I didn't care for it the last time we went, we skipped it for this exhibit. Feel free to take as many pictures as you want; just don't use your flash or disturb other people at the exhibit. Although I didn't like the Monet exhibit as much as Van Gogh (maybe because I like Van Gogh's oeuvre better), it's still worth a visit and a nice experience. I hope to see this type of exhibit with more artists.

This was a really cool concept and it was a unique experience for an escape room. Parking was easy…read moreto find. The staff was super helpful and I needed the help because I needed some refreshers throughout to remember how the remote control works. It was really cool to feel like we were actually in the space of the escape room. We did the prison room and I thought I was actually in a prison which made the experience feel more real. My headset stopped working a couple of times but that was towards the very end and it was quickly resolved. We were offered the opportunity to extend our time. I did feel a little bit of motion sickness but I also was having eye issues that day so not sure if that was causing the VR or my eye situation.
