Twice in 3 weeks I got the Friday fish sandwich, not only have stopped give 2 whole filets (so it is not really a 'special' if you cut one in half) but was served putrid, rotten fish. Had to spit it out and throw it away. After the first time, I thought well, everyone has a bad day, I have been coming here since they opened. So 2 weeks later got another one. Again, the stench was so bad, they have had to know before they battered it up, that they are serving rotten spoiled fish. SHAME on you Dino's and MIKE. read more

This was our first visit to Dino's and to quote one of their lovely employees "it is the bomb.com." From the counter to the table the service was so friendly and welcoming. The prices are super fair for a seafood spot. The space was well themed and clean. The shrimp platter was a good size and the shrimp were cooked perfectly! Loved their coleslaw and my husband enjoyed their steak sandwich. They had fun drink options and I followed the suggestion of mixing lemonade and the dragon berry juice. It was great! This has always been our go to fried seafood spot. The fried clam strips are wonderful. They're always fresh, crispy and flavorful. The lobster bisque is so thick and creamy with just the right balance of lobster meat. Dino's run daily specials but Saturdays are our favorite since it's clam strips day!! Dino's is a walk up to the counter to order and someone brings your food and drinks to your table. Three of us went for dinner and we had sat down for about ten minutes when they brought our food which was delicious. The only complaint was that the fish fillet did not have much flavor. I hadn't been to Dino's in about 20 years, but a few weeks ago stopped into their new location. I remember loving their lobster bisque, and because I was trying to stay away from too much fried food, I got their hot dog. My father ordered their fried whole clams. My father enjoyed the clams, but didn't like the French fries - said they were very greasy. I didn't like the lobster bisque - nothing really wrong with the taste, it was just bland and didn't have any lobster pieces in it (not even bits). The hot dog was also okay. There was one pair ahead of us in line and another who came in after we sat down. There lots of people working in the kitchen, but while the space is nice and most tables unoccupied , we couldn't find a clean one and had to settle for the "least" messy. I loved going when I was a kid. I might go back and order something different, but I don't really find the need to return for the same food I had. read more

So long in fact, that my last visit predates Yelp The reason for that was that the food quality had deteriorated so badly I vowed never again to eat there. I'm chowing here tonight because a friend made the arrangements. Dino's has also moved to this location from their original restaurant about a mile or so north of here. A building that was demolished about two years ago. I'm torn between two and three stars, so after some consideration I'm going with two stars. I wasn't in the mood for seafood this day so I instead ordered a "Dino's Burger". Two patties (read "hockey pucks"), with bacon, cheese, lettuce & tomato. Asking for pink in the middle was futile. Well cooked is what I got. I guess "have it your way" means you get it "whatever way we cook it". The Rhode Island chowder was "ok". Not a lot of clams or potatoes, or for that matter, much of anything. The side of Cole slaw rates a star by itself. Very good. My dining partners opted for clam strip dinner and a combo platter. Both said the clam strips were "chewy". The rest of the combo platter was given a thumbs up. Service was friendly and very quick. I don't see myself returning any time soon. There are seafood places closer with comparable seafood and others with far superior seafood not much farther away. All in all, it was acceptable, but not really worthy of a return trip. read more

This place makes me so sad. There's nothing like having a good seafood spot in town- but this isn't it. I give them one star because they give decent portions, but that being said- it's a lot of meh food on your plate. The fried shrimp and clam strips are soo bland, they'd be inedible without the tartar and cocktail sauce. The onion rings were bland and undercooked while my French fries were so soggy and greasy I couldn't find one that didn't taste like oil. The food on a scale of one to five is one today I ordered the seafood platter. It was such a small amount with bread underneath to make it look like it was a lot, but even if there wasn't bread underneath, the food was awful. I keep burping up the oil. I'll never go there again. I don't think that's really Dino's. I think it was bought out the even the french fries were awful. They were like prefab won't see me there again and I will tell people not to go. The service was excellent, but the food is terrible. read more

New place, hours and employees! Still one big family as they rip and run thru many orders at a time like clockwork. The new place is located just a few buildings away from the old one. They have the same fabulous menu and drinks, yes Birch Beer is still a fan favorite as well as the Grapeade right out of the machine . Yummmm! A few of us from my office decided to order from Dino's today. I hate to give bad reviews, but the food was terrible and expensive. My fish sandwich tasted of nothing, no seasoning, very bland between wimpy slices of toast. The fries with not cook thru, still raw in the middle (3 of us got fries, all had the same complaint). Another person ordered the Combination platter, 26.99, same, bland, no flavor at all and raw fries. Next person ordered scallops, consisted of broken pieces of what she thinks were sea scallops. No one enjoyed their meal and it cost us a total of 75.89!! We will not be going back. read more

Since the "new" owner, aka the guy who bought it from Dino, moved the restaurant from its original location (it was run down, dilapidated and in bad shape- the building, not the owner... well hmm, BOTH) this place has gone downhill. It used to be a terrific place to go and eat a nice lunch or dinner. Now, it's just a shadow of itself. A hole in the wall. Zero personality, blank, cold feeling (except in the summer when the temps are high and they don't bother to put the AC on). Cold environment, the employee turnover is constant, the owner needs Mr. Baldarelli (God Rest his Soul) to rise from the grave and teach him how to provide quality food and customer service. The old Dinos is gone for good. There is nothing good to say about this incarnation... except, it's easy to pass on by without ever even knowing it is there. read more

Just came from Dino's in North Haven, got take out hot dogs and fries. I was so bad, the fries were drenched in grease, and very soggy. I could not eat them as I was afraid of getting sick! Dino's moved down the street from their old location - which needed to be knocked down - and the food and atmosphere is much better. They downsized from the massive dining area for a smaller dining room and concentrated on the takeout aspect of their business, which I think was a great business move, especially in today's restaurant climate. Good prices, great food, and a very pleasant staff. My family and I will be going back many times in the future and are glad to have the Dino's of old back with a fresh new climate. Management deserves a big koodos for running a fine operation with staff members that take pride in their jobs. Koodos to all! read more

My review is several months old so please take it with a grain of salt. I've only been here twice and had the same thing both times. The first time I came to Dino's seafood was years ago and the last time was about five months ago. I ordered the fried clam strips both times. Even before I ever came here, I was told I would love this place because the food was awesome and their fried clams were great. That is definitely the case. The vibe was great as well. It's a very warm place and has a casual atmosphere yet feels homey. I really enjoyed myself both times that I've eaten here even though I got the same thing both times. I know they've been around a very long time and they have a really nice reputation. The only reason I don't come here more is because I'm a ways away from North Haven. I've only been for lunch never for dinner. It has a lot of charm as a restaurant and I look forward to dining here again. Maybe I'll get something else but as their fried clams are so delicious maybe I'll stick to what I know and love. read more

The Grilled Shrimp it's better than fried and Lobsterwich it's a grilled cheese stuffed with lobster is amazing! Bring back the yellow mustard coleslaw and so I can make it a choice to get a slaw dog with fried onions. Love it they're decently priced meals. read more

I chose to dilute with milk to my preferred viscosity. Fried whole belly clams were tasty. Fries were limp, soggy and not salted. Up charge for the sweet potato fries or onion rings. Split hot dog platter with 2 dogs was a hit with the kids. Hot buttered lobster roll was loaded with lobster meat. Fried shrimp were one of the better items on the menu. Dino's!!!!!!!!!!!!! That you are still even kicking after all these years gives me the upmost respect and admiration for your establishment. Whether for good or bad ( mostly bad), I grew up on Bradley Street in North Haven in the 70's-80's. Getting a Dino Special was a most extravagant feast! I measured all of my future burger expectations on this meal and this alone. Fries!!!? Perfection. Coleslaw---who could ever even attempt to compare? And if you were classy and special and patient enough--you got to actually sit in the crazy crowded and most coveted dining area! I think my family somehow ate in the dining area once--maybe even twice! Such an accomplishment. As a teenager I would cut thru a field in my backyeard which lead to Dino's, proudly ordering some onion rings to go! I moved away--saw the world--but never lost my taste for that Dino's Special. I came back anytime I was in town over multiple years, bringing my children, significant others, new and old friends to share this experience. It has been hit or miss over the years---and I have heard the gossips and rumblings. New ownership--back to family ownership and/or involvement...it's good/bad/back to the way it was, etc. Got a to go order a few weeks ago. Wanted the whole Dino Special (Bacon DBL cheeseburger with fries and slaw) but only got the the Dino Burger. Oh and a birch beer--the only time and place I will ever order this. Me and my husband were dying for seafood During this whole pandemic and the seafood place in our town of north branford doesnt deliver so we saw this on Uber Eats and decided to give it a shot. I understood that because it was fried and being delivered it might be a little mushy and figured I could just zap it in the oven but that wasnt even the issue! The fries in the platter were mushy and wet with grease that the entire seafood platter was soaked with grease! I had to toss the fries they were inedible and the seafood is tasteless!
