From the initial meeting to discuss our plans to the 3D rendering, the process was amazing. Matt and Kevin were so knowledgeable with Calvert County codes and regulations and offered a wonderful rendering to address the codes and safety! The price was fair and we plan on making them our go-to for our quoted project and many more projects! We love that they gave us a fair price upfront and didn't bargain with us once we said we could not do the project at that time. We asked several friends who each have successful landscape companies in different states and they confirmed the quote we received from Lawn Artist was very fair. We gave Kevin and Matt several inspiration pictures and the rendering we received more than met our expectations so much so that we are putting off saving for a needed kitchen renovation to save for this project instead. I could not be happier with the work Brown's Custom Contracting did within my home. Detailed Summary of My Experience: I contacted Jim initially just to get an estimate for finishing my basement, which was in a state that needed major work because the walls were made of cinderblock and the floors were complete concrete; it was a space that was probably best used for storage and I would not call it "comfortably livable." Jim arrived quickly for an estimate and helped me explore the possibilities of the space, even going so far as to note what would be difficult or expensive to pull off. Within days he provided an estimate for the job, which I found out during the process was a major ordeal involving many phases and individuals, so I'm impressed he was able to produce a price so quickly (and in the end it was an accurate price). I signed Jim up for the job because of his straightforward and pleasant attitude. In the weeks and months that followed (this was a major job, I want to note), Jim gave me frequent updates about what workers I could expect to come by and when/how-long they would be there. Every person who came onto the property was skilled and good about communicating what they would be working on, especially when they had questions about the possibilities of the space. Jim also handled all of the work involving the permits and he worked with the county to ensure everything was up to code. He also alerted me any time there was a change in plans or if there was a possibility of delay. Given how involved this basement-finish job was, there were plenty of opportunities for major hurdles, but the project was still completed in a timely manner, and it was always clear to me what was going on, what would happen next, etc. The final product is everything I could've wanted. Jim made efficient use of the space to make as much of it "comfortably livable" as possible. Even the water heater and HVAC unit were relocated with no diminishment in functionality just for the sake of making the basement as good as it could possibly be. I'm very pleased with the additional space my family has been given, and there isn't a single rough edge in the room. Jim's guys are the best and I highly recommend his service to anyone looking to improve their homes. I have included pictures of the job before and after just so you can see the quality of work.
