Sad to say but this place needed to close its doors a long time ago. Today I visited and was looking forward to the nostalgia trip. couldn't help but notice the much needed updates. Whatever.Then when I arrived and sat down in the theatre I noticed moths flying around .....and you'll never guess what came flying out of my box of candy! This place is magical for so many reasons. I came here on Sunday because they were still showing Justice League and I knew if I didn't see it in theaters I would probably never end up actually watching it. I have a movie pass so prices don't actually matter to me, but if you don't have one then this theater is the absolutely amazing. Why you ask? Because you can see a movie for $2.50 Monday-Thursday and only $3.00 Friday-Sunday. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing special when you walk through the front door but it has everything you could possibly need here to enjoy a movie, including overpriced popcorn and pop! (Which is 50% on Tuesdays). The actual theater itself was extremely comfortable thanks to the big recliners and the fact that no matter where you sit, you will have an an awesome seat. Overall, this is an incredible bargain compared to other theaters. You may not be seeing the movies that just came out a week ago, but you'll get some that have been out a few weeks or might just about to get a blu-ray release. Back in the day was a fine place to see a movie. Just went today, and is a decrepit shadow if its former self. No AC in theater until asked to turn it on, humid as a rainforest. Movie sound was far too low, sometimes couldn't even understand it (also had to ask to turn up). The floors were slippery, seats were sticky and unclean, and half were shut off and didn't recline. Found a movie ticket from the previous day in a cupholder, so probably not cleaned regularly. Seemed understaffed, and staff available was clueless. Bathroom was partially flooded, signs were flickering, the whole place looked like a scene from a horror movie. The price is okay, but probably not worth the decline in quality from any other normal full price theater. Bring your own hazmat suit! read more

We rarely go to movie theaters anymore. There's just too many good options on the FireStick to want to leave the couch. And I think I'm getting a bit curmudgeon'y because most new movies that come out look terrible. :-P But Creed 2 brought us out to this Dipson last week, a theater that I've been to dozens of times over the years (since my teenage days, when movies weren't all terrible, haha). It's a second-run theater, but that doesn't bother me since it's extremely rare we rush to a theater on opening weekend for anything anymore. Because, again, movies are terrible now. (Okay, I'll stop.) Even though this is a bit of a trek for us, and there's an AMC blocks from our house, I'm a fan of this theater for two main reasons: cost and comfort. For just $11.75 total, my husband and I each got tickets plus a large soda to share, which came with free refills. It's hard to get one ticket for that price nowadays. Comfort-wise, this theater has recliner seating. So I'm not forced to leave the couch after all. We like taking the kiddos here too, since they also enjoy the recliners and its such a mellow blow to the wallet compared to full-price theaters. I deducted one star because the seating is not assigned, so it can get hairy finding two seats together when the theater is more full. We got to Creed 2 early enough to get a decent spot, but people were wandering the aisle and having to settle for random single seats not long after we arrived. So get there early, and for not much more than a ten-spot, enjoy a movie, a soda and a comfy seat with your main-squeeze. (P.S. Creed 2 was AMAZING. The soundtrack is my new running playlist, and I need a Creed shirt for my first 5K this spring, for sure. #OneStepOnePunchOneRound) read more

While the theater itself is reasonably priced and well kept I had a major complaint on my recent visit. There was no heat !!!! I was warmer when I went outside. I'm not sure what the problem is that they have no heat on in the winter. I couldn't find the manager at the time, however I did send an email complaint to their web page, but have not received a respose. I think it would be incumbent on the management to warn guests before they purchase tickets of the problem or not open the theater until the problem is rectified. read more

We come here quite often and you just cannot beat the value on movie tickets! Granted the movies they show are released at the same time or roundabout the same time as the movies themselves come out on dvd but the movie experience with popcorn and pop is always super fun! Which brings me to my biggest complaint. Popcorn! When you get a popcorn you wont be spending quite as much as you would at say, Regal Cinema but the quality will reflect that price difference. Still at upwards of $6 for a regular size you had better be sure they serve you from the fresh stuff and NOT the cold stale stuff under the counter. Huge difference there and my last visit the guy behind the counter gave serious attitude about this when I asked for the warm fresh stuff. Not cool. To top that off he refused to dump out the stale stuff and instead left it in the bucket and just put fresh stuff on top. He didnt think I was looking but I was... Back to the positive, the reclining seats here are super roomy and extremely cozy! If you are just getting tickets and not snacks you absolutely cannot complain. For families and groups, if you dont mind waiting for your favorite movies, this theater is great! Bathrooms are pretty gross, especially the toilet area and sinks but you get what you pay for I suppose. All in all its a solid 3 stars. It would be 4 but the popcorn issue and that one stinky associate should be addressed. Still, I will be back! read more

This is the next best movie theater in the area, for movies missed that have been out of Regal, and AMC for awhile. The ticket prices are reasonable $ 2.50 weekdays, $3.00 weekends, offer 3D films for a little more in price. The theater is located behind the McKinley Mall, for a short drive, comfy stadium, recliner seating its a nice alternative for families, or movie lovers such as myself that don't mind waiting to see a movie. read more

This movie theatre is amazing! The seats are all recliners, with ample space, and the movies are all $2.50-2.75. The movies they show here are already out of regular theatres but are still pretty new, and totally worth waiting for the price here. Ever since they upgraded to the recliner seat, I often just wait until the movie is playing here. The price is cheaper than regal, waaaay cheaper. The seat I think also better. This Dipson theatre has recently transitioned from a traditional first run theatre to a second-run theatre with $1.75 admission for regular movies and $4 for 3D flicks. If you can wait, it's well worth the savings. (Discount 3D movies can't be found anywhere else in town.) Like all Dipsons, popcorn and pop are half price on Tuesdays, This theatre is older than your local googolplex but without the charm and beauty of the North Park or Amherst Theatre. I have seen a regular and a 3D movie here and enjoyed both experiences. It reminds me of going to the movies in the 1990s, which isn't a bad thing. The seats are a little smaller, the floor is sloped but not stadium style, etc. If you live in Buffalo, it's a little out of the way, but you can hit up some other local spots while you're and make a whole southtowns excursion out of it. Unlike the other Dipsons which have real butter, this theatre seems to have traditional movie theatre popcorn with vegan "topping." read more

Love the price and the new, comfortable seats. However, it would be nice if they had a line for customers who are only purchasing tickets and not refreshments. It is annoying to wait in line while customers are waiting for refreshments. Update- today we had to wait quite awhile for tickets. I will repeat it again- they need a separate line for patrons who only want to purchase tickets! Sometimes i cannot even handle how expensive the world has gotten. Going out to the movies is a prime example of this. Nowadays, you can't go to the movies for a cheap date. It's gonna be $40, by the time you get tickets and popcorn and soda. At least $40. That is why i love this theater. It's got everything you need at a movie theater, plus leather recliners. And it's so so so cheap. Come on a Tuesday, watch a movie and stay for half price concessions. My wife, our friend, and I came this past Tuesday to see ready player one. We got three tickets, two popcorns, and two sodas and was eighteen dollars and some change. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that the movies are super close to coming to dvd and blu Ray by the time they get here. So you've gotta wait a bit. But it's really not a big deal. I've never had a bad experience here. They have the reclining seats, fantastic food pricing, and slightly smaller theaters than other movie theaters i've been to locally. Although you have to wait for the movie to be our for awhile, at their ticket prices, that are less than half of regal here, i don't mind the wait. I usually go to the dipson in orchard park ny with my children because they've always been affordable and great. The employees always helpful. Today not so much. Today upon scanning my tickets an Employee named Aiden shouted at my daughter as she scooted to the restroom before the show, he shouted to hand over her back back immediately , my girls are 6,12 and my son 18. It's an 11:30 am movie. He said he wanted to make sure she did not have any alcohol or weapons. My 6 year old was about to cry. This was the first time this has ever happened and the theater only had maybe 2 other families watching the movie. Aidan had zero tact, zero customer service skills, zero common sense and basically ruined this family outing and I am now consoling my 6 year old as her hands are shaking bc he now said they are potentially dangerous. Mind you he didn't want to sniff my water bottle which could very well have alcohol or ask me to open my cross body as the ADULT. Leave children alone and learn how to conduct searches. Also post a sign saying this is now policy so it's not so damn nerve wrecking and embarrassing. read more

Located in the back of McKinley Mall, this theatre is clean, reasonable, and the chairs are the most comfortable around! Makes the movie experience much more enjoyable. Leather reclining seats were a nice surprise after paying so little for tickets. Also got pretzel bites, popcorn and drinks. Everything was fresh and well made. My only complaint is the women's bathroom that was really filthy (including an inch of dust on the overhead sprinkler and giant water stains on the ceiling tiles). Movies are so expensive, that I rarely go. When I discovered what a second run theater was - I was in heaven! To those that don't know, it's a theater that shows films that have been out for at least a few weeks or a month, but are only a couple bucks to see. It's probably one of my favorite things in life! When I have a a movie I want to see I just wait until it's showing at this theater. The tickets used to be 2 bucks - now it's 3 because ALL the seats are electronic leather recliners!!! We're talking super luxury seating! The movies are so cheap that I can come here and buy myself a soda and pretzel bites (my favorite) and popcorn and not break the bank. Context is key. There are so many movies that I have passing interest in, but I don't want to pay the equivalent of a down payment on a car to see. And when Regal discovered that that agreement to take my first born was a sham on account of the fact that my Girlfriend and I only want furkids, they stopped taking that promise as collateral to see a movie. And if we wanted pop corn... (Regal's expensive, if you hand't followed my little diatribe, hehe). Anyway, I say context is key because were I rating this place against first run theatres, it'd definitely not be five stars. The seats are really old and pretty uncomfortable. I almost fell through one one night. That was jarring. Sometimes you can hear the film in the adjacent theatre, however muffled. Which, when watching a suspenseful movie, may take you out of the narrative. Also, their 3D isn't honestly too clear. But I'm not reviewing this in the context of theatres in general. I'm reviewing this in the context of second run theatres, of which there are now one. It's like $2 for a ticket, $4 for 3D. It's a Dipson, so if you have the popcorn bucket, you get like way too much popcorn for somewhere around $4. The staff is kind of like something out of an Are You Afraid of the Dark episode. Not the creepers, but like those guys who work the theatre and you're just sort of like "yeah, this is right. They cast this well". They're pretty friendly and if it's not busy, they'll engage in light conversation. But really, it's the cheapness and second runness of the movies that keep me coming. So many movies that I so don't want to actually pay for, and several where it's more morbid curiosity that makes me want to see them or I don't want to support the release for some reason or another, so what better way to enjoy them than at a second run place? Also, it's apparently family owned, so it's nice to support local families, right? Really, good deed for the day done. Enjoy your movie. read more

Greatest. Seats. Ever. I'm not sure why they would upgrade the seats at a 2nd tier theatre, but I'm so glad they did and they are regularly getting my $$$ because of it. Huge win for everyone. Yes, they don't show the newest, greatest movies. Yes, you have to purchase tickets at the concession stand (low staff). But you still get much more than you pay for. Movie cost ($2.50) is almost the same as a Redbox Bluray. Biggest downside is that the theaters are really small. Sell outs are not uncommon, so try to show up early. The bright blue seat lights are also a bit distracting. Tuesdays are half price concessions. That means two person date night for $10!!! read more

Ridiculously comfy reclining chairs. Ridiculously cheap movie ticket cost. This is the ONLY movie theater I ever buy popcorn at b/c I can actually AFFORD it since the ticket cost is so low! I'm not one of those people who have to see a movie as SOON as it's released, so I don't mind waiting a few weeks/months to check out a movie on the big screen. It's worth the drive for me. We come he with some frequency. Today was are going to watch John Travolta be the infamous John Gotti. The popcorn is always fresh, soft pretzels are soft here unlike Darien Lake where you can clean dog poop off of your shoes because it is to hard to consume so use it like a stick to clean a turd off of your shoe. Well the theaters are clean, the attendants are nice and you don't get raked over the coals financially. The only problem we have had is when the movie is new sometimes you have a sorted crowd that makes the movie less enjoyable. read more

This is a hidden gem, for sure! The seats are fantastic....the kind that recline :) large, and comfy! The theater was the perfect temperature, but i still brought a small blanket (dont judge lol) The BEST PART??? The tickets are only $2.50 per show, with additional discounts on Tuesdays as well! They gave no issues with us bringing in our own water bottles and tim horton's coffee cups (although we did not flaunt the fact that we had either of them, so i'm not really sure if it's allowed or what..) Because of the cheap price, we decided to see two movies! We saw Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and The Girl on the Train...both really great movies! My hubby and I don't really care if the movies are brand new or not...so this theater is a GREAT option for us. This is now a local budget theater with a twist. They have the new reclining, super comfortable seats. Prices can't be beat either for a 3D movie. Only $4.50. Standard drink and snack prices apply, but I would recommend this theater for their service, low prices and very comfortable seats. The theaters are a bit too dark when you walk in during the previews and especially during the film, which makes it hard to find a seat. Overall, I really enjoyed it. This theater truly is a gem in Buffalo for one hell of a bargain. The theater plays movie that has been recently out of rotation for only three dollars. You must be thinking, it's probably a shady theater. NOPE. They have the best automatic recliner seats I've ever seen in a theater the rooms theaters are still comparable in size. The snacks are regular priced...except on Tuesday! Yes. Another deal. They have discount nights on Tuesdays with even cheaper tickets, half price popcorn, and soda fountain drinks. How can you seal this perfect date night? There's a freaking Chipotle right next door. The movie I saw was zoomed a little too hard, but otherwise super cool place. I love a good bargain movie theater! Their ticket prices are out of this world. On weekdays it's $2.50/ticket and on weekends it's $3.00/ticket. They have the reckoning seats that are so desired nowadays, but the arm rests don't go up in the middle and you don't pick your seat when buying the tickets. I can't think of any theaters that live that life anymore, it's always assigned seats now and it is refreshing to walk in and sit anywhere.
