Came here in the summer to check out the orange perfume. I want to say they have the entire fleet there, possibly more than what you can find on their website, even the new ones, even the old lol. So I was able to smell any that I was curious about. I also discovered the tiny compact solid perfume version they have. The decor of the place gave me 19th century vibes. It's lovely, so is the staff that day. She didn't make me feel less comfortable about wanting to try many scents and tried to answer all my questions. Diptyque is a high-end brand, and I was eager to visit the boutique, hoping for an equally luxurious experience. I was shopping for a housewarming gift for a friend and thought a beautiful candle would be the perfect choice. The store itself is charming, with an impressive display of perfumes and candles, but unfortunately, the service didn't live up to my expectations. A saleswoman initially assisted me, but when she seemed to think I wasn't going to make a purchase, she quickly moved on to other customers. I ended up buying two candles with the help of another gentleman. I also wanted to have the candles sent directly to my friend's home, but they were out of gift cards to include, which made me feel like I wasn't being properly attended to. I'd only seen diptyque around through various beauty bloggers and instagrammers, so I had no idea what to expect. The quality and scents are very true to life; their orange cardamom really smells like freshly dried orange peels and cardamom pods picked at its most fragrant. The candles seem to burn well and there is an elegance and grace to the scents, like if everything is formulated with the oils extracted at the peak of freshness. Not knowing what to expect, I was honest and said this was out of my price range and internally I just felt like a peasant because who buys $85+ candles?! The employee was totally chill and understanding about it. I think perhaps if I was in the next tax bracket (or the one after that) I'd feel a little better about dropping a few bucks here. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AMAZING! I SPENT $40 ON A CANDLE THAT I STILL USE (FROM APRIL IT IS NOW AUGUST), AND IT MAKES MY WHOLE ATTIC SPACE SMELL SO FRAGRANT! THEY GAVE ME A TON OF FREE SAMPLES WITH MY PURCHASE, AND MY BUDDY A FREE CANDLE FOR HIS BDAY! I'm the type of person who'd rather smell clean and well-perfumed/cologned for a night out of town as opposed to dressed in designer clothes. I have a 'nose,' and my nose tells me this is the place for QUALITY frangrances you can't get outside of Paris! You can even MIX the fragrances they have inside, which my friend did, and it is a fun activity! It is VERY expensive, expect to pay more for a small candle than you would for a Tom Ford eau de parfum at Saks. These scents DO last! And the compliments I receive from people are amazing! I was wearing the 34 scent sample mixed with another 34 scent sample and people stopped to smell me while I was out in downtown with some friends. Recommend? YES I DO. Just out strolling with my daughter after lunch and stopped into diptyque just to look around. I had no intention on purchasing anything. But..... Madeleine is so welcoming. She is so knowledgeable and has a genuine love of the product. I previously purchased the products at the Merz Apothecary but the sales associates had very little knowledge of this product. I left the boutique with a candle for myself and Madeleine introduced me to the fragrance collection. She gave me a sample of a fragrance I liked. Yesterday arrived a personal thank you note for my purchase!!! You rarely come across this kind of customer service these days. First of all, I give 5 stars to people who work here. They are the reason why this place has excellent presentation. They are patient, friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. They love what they do and what they sell. I recently started to use their newer skincare line. My top ratings give to their toner, SPF15 moisturizer, and rose inspired oil. It works so well especially during the winter. They are light, pleasant, but highly functional. I'm combination-dry skin and I find all those three amazing. Another product I can't walk away without recommending is their body lotion. If you like citrus and especially orange blossom, give it a try. $50 might seem pricey but every time I use it, I feel it is indeed worth it. They also sell many kinds of small size collections which are perfect for gifting. Especially if you are new to Diptyque or you would like to introduce your friends to this brand, they will make great gifts and promising experiences. Visiting the store is better than shopping online because you don't take risks to buy something you might not like, the staff is just wonderful. This is one of my favorite shops. I like to come here when I'm in the mood to really buy myself something nice. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but the quality and scents are top of the line. The only other place that I know of that sells Diptyque is Nordstrom, but I like to make a trip out of it and come to this cute little boutique. I have a couple different perfumes and I receive so many compliments on them. The candles smell fantastic and last a while. I also like to recycle the candle jars and make them into bobby pin holders, pen holders, or makeup brush holders (can you tell I shop here often?) lol. The boutique itself is very nice and the staff is really professional and kind. The icing on the cake is the generous amount of samples they give you when you check out. I love Diptyque! read more

UPDATE: -------Woo! I finally received a response! The johnny on the spot gals finally emailed after a week and a half and offered to replace the candles as a good will gesture....Honestly? Fuck you and your raggedy candles. I of course said I would take the returns, which involved me returning their busted ass candles as a condition (great! I get to pack stuff, and mail it, in a big city where UPS is on every corner!). I'm sad to say that I was a sucker and bought their shit candles so why else wouldn't I be just as stupid to return them for new ones. I was given a long lecture on how to burn them (here's the condensed version, fucking light a candle and put it out when you're done.) If you snappy folks at Renuzit or Glade can figure this one out and make your entire single-wide smell like a pineapple and B.O., it can't be too hard. Anyhow, back to my stupidity. I let them send the new candles which led me to spend a lovely evening at UPS because they forgot to put the apartment number on the candles. I brought them home and......well, they still burn like shit. Thank god I bought them with my credit card and used purchase protection. Diptyque used to be awesome, now they can't even master the task of putting a wick in straight and making sure the candle will burn evenly. I've switched to Aquiessse and they burn great; also they're about $20 cheaper, have a lasting fragrance and I don't have to worry about treating a fucking candle like a rare topiary. *********END OF EDIT I've bought candles from Diptyque for years and think they are absolutely amazing, but this store is the worst representation of a Diptyque boutique I've ever witnessed. For some reason the employees of this store are just absolutely unfriendly and aloof; honestly, you're working in retail and your job is to sell products so that's probably not the best approach. Further, the candles I've bought from this store well and burn extremely unevenly; this has never occurred before. When I returned the first candle; the salesperson tried to blame me for the welling and said they do not exchange products even if they are faulty but since corporate said they would, she would make an exception. Then I received a long speech on how to burn a candle; I've burned these candles for over a decade, I know how to take care of them. The replacement candle was clearly old stock as the box was damaged and the label was yellowing and peeling. Needless to say, this candle burns worse than the last. After speaking with their corporate offices I've been asked to send pictures of the candles in various states (which is honestly insane, you should just send new ones...I don't spend 70 on a candle and expect that I'll have to return it, take pictures and get a condescending lecture from an employee), yet I've never received a response. If you love the candles and fragrances, purchase them at Nordstroms; I've never had a problem there and the sales staff actually understands how to interact professionally with customers. Honestly, while I love their products, I can pretty safely say I will go with a competitor because there are plenty that make comparable, if not superior products. read more

So I decided to shop for belated holiday gifts for my mother and boss, who are impossible to shop for (because they already have everything). I walked into the store imagining that I knew what I was looking for, only to realize shopping for fragrances is super personal and would either be a total hit or miss. Before I could get overwhelmed, a very warm specialist greeted me. She gave me the basic run down of their collection and helped me decide if I wanted something earthy or floral. From there she recommended several candles for my boss, using a pillow to remove the wax and get a really good sense of each fragrance. She also helped me choose an eau de toilette for my mother, explaining the history of the scent, the artwork on the bottle, the specific flowers and herbs... every detail you can imagine. In a lot of high-end boutiques or department stores, I feel intimidated and pressured to buy something. The employees at this store were remarkably unpretentious and very knowledgable. I love Diptyque and became familiar with the brand when my local Nordstrom began carrying its products. I just moved to the neighborhood and needed to get that "new apartment" smell out and scents of my choice in! Saw that Diptyque was a short walk away and treated myself to two small candles. This was a month ago and I am still burning both small candles. If you follow the directions the candles last for quite a few burn hours and the scents are great. The only candles I like more are Tyler candles. Also, their perfumes are fantastic and much longer lasting than Jo Malone. First off: the products are exquisite, but they should be, given the prices. I'm really writing this to comment on the customer service. I've probably only gone to this store once a year since it opened, but every single time I've been treated so well that each experience stands out in my mind. Each time the kind salesperson (usually the same sweet red haired lady whose name I've forgotten) is totally enthusiastic about showing me as many products and scents as I'm interested in, and also TOTALLY understanding that these are big splurge/gift items for me. Not once have I felt pressured into buying more than I felt comfortable with, which is rare in retail generally, but ESPECIALLY luxury retail. I love the candles here and the way that they are organized make it really helpful to eliminate stuff you don't like from the scents that you enjoy. The person helping me out, Paul I think, was incredibly attentive and showed me many fragrances. He clearly knew what he was talking about and wanted help those who wakes into the store. I read the reviews on this web site and forced my friend to go there with me. We were greeted by a very warm welcome and I started to like the place already. But my friend was a bit skeptical about such a small store with a very limited variety being so expensive. The girl gave us nearly all the testers in her store about like 10 perfumes and I chose 1 for me and 1 for my mother. My friend just bought a candle and we came out. Just after a day I had to go there because I wanted to return 1 of the perfumes I bought for my mother and I was surprise to see her behavior. Firstly she told me that they don't offer returns, the only thing I can get is a store credit or an exchange. Then she told me its on the receipt I should have read it. I told her I got the receipt only after I bought the perfume if you would have told me before the purchase I would have not bought the perfume, she replied very rudely that It was my fault that I didn't ask about the return policy. I got very upset since the perfume was a $100, I asked her all you have candles, I cant buy $100 of candles she said you can try our body line that's all I have. Well I will not recommend this store to any one and now if I am dying to get a french perfume I will do it online at least they have a return policy. read more
