Great staff at both the front office and the PT team in Irving. Unfortunately, my experience with billing is the reason I'm not leaving 5 stars. First, I was charged a no-show fee for an appointment with a PA that I never scheduled. Second, I was charged a no-show fee for a Monday PT appointment during a major ice storm, when schools were closed for multiple days and the City of Irving Police Department advised residents to stay off the roads. Most businesses, including grocery stores and banks, were also closed. If the clinic had used its texting system to clearly notify patients that appointments were still being held and that no-show fees would apply, that would be different. But expecting patients to travel in unsafe conditions without any communication is unreasonable. Because of this billing approach, I'll be continuing my care elsewhere. read more

Initially everything was great. As soon as I decided to go with another provider due to benefits with my employee. Some employees started acting unprofessional and making me wait longer apparently in purpose. Today, a week after I had to get a copy of my X-ray myself because they didn't send it to the provider even if they called. Had me waiting over 40minutes to get a simple resolution , when the office was completely empty when I arrived and they kept taking calls in my face and attending anyone that came after me. I literally had to stand up and ask the lady as she seemed to completely forget about me even if I was in front of her. Unfortunately couldn't get her name as I had to introduce myself when checking in as they both was ignoring me when walked in. Pretty shitty overall, I understand we all about our business as I take care of one myself, but lack of empathy and respect is unacceptable. Leave extra 1 star for the good people working in the back as they did help as much as they could. ADDITION TO THIS REVIEW THE INCOMPETENT LADY COULD SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH MY IMAGES SINCE MINUTE ONE BUT DECIDED TO PASS THE BALL AND ACT STUPID UNTIL THEY HEAR ME LOST MY NEW APPOINTMENT AND NOW I WON'T RECEIVE SURGERY IN 3 MORE WEEKS. AFTER THEY SEE ME DESESPERATED AND IRRITATED SHE DECIDED THAT IT WAS A GOOD TIME TO LET ME KNOW THAT SHE COULD SEND AN EMAIL!! I fell and suffered a shoulder injury and was in a lot of pain. I had never been to a DOC location before and the initial experience was terrific. I recently lost my ACA health insurance and was very nervous about the cost of this. I was a walk-in and they treated me right away. Because I was uninsured, I had to pay the $478 visit fee up front. I was evaluated by a good nurse and very good Physician's Assistant named Evan. I was quite impressed with him. For the fee, I received his evaluation, x-rays, an ultrasound, a Toradol shot, and a sling to take home. I was so relieved. The care and the cost were all very reasonable. I didn't mind not seeing a doctor at all. I was scheduled for a follow-up visit in one week and was happy to return. However, at the follow-up visit, I discovered that the fee would be $203. I was never given any itemize documentation for what any charges covered. But what choice did I have? You can't exactly go shopping around for follow-up care without having to pay for a new place's initial care fees. The follow-up was with a different PA, who was also very nice. She spent 10-15 minutes with me and did her evaluation. She told me to go home and wear the sling for another week and then come back for another follow-up. That was it. A routine PA visit for a person with insurance earns the company around $115. If I had Medicare, it would be around $80. Every follow-up at DOC for uninsured patients is $203. It's like they get you in the door and make you happy, then gouge you. read more

Terrible service When i called to inquire an appt she said "i cannot give you a price until you book the apportionment billing will call you, i told her i have no money but i broken foot and i need help, she said just book it and if you cannot make it due to price she will cancel". Within 1 minute of hearing the price i canceled. I was never told a cancellation fee and will be fighting this because this is unfair that within one minute i found out i cannot go to the appt you want to charge me? Went here for the first time 3 weeks ago. Initial visit was ok, was sent to get MRI for the injury. At the follow up is when it got crazy. Physician was thorough, nothing wrong there- however, medical equipment was placed without prior approval and then i received a hefty bill for it, $600 for a knee brace that costs $18, and $400 for the follow up. Bottom line : don't go here for more than one visit . They love to nickel and dime you, and they NEVER EVER EVER answer the line, return a call or reply to an email. This place blows read more

I have a laundry list for this highly professional clinic. Hmmm where to start? Everything went pretty well until I came in with my ordred MRI and the unique plan they came up with to treat me. First, we gotta get a deep joint injection at another facility since they lacked the specific equipment required. Since I was I a lot of pain, I thought the idea was great. So I waited a week for referral to get to its destination, and called and see if they had received this specialty treatment I required. I was told they have not yet received. So... I called DOC to find out what's up and got the recording so I left a message. So... I called again a couple days later and got a live person. I asked if they had received my message and that told me no, they have not. They told me it would be done by the following business day. I said cool and called the specialty clinic and again, they had yet to receive it. So... I called DOC again and left another message since they didn't have the staff to answer phone, didn't care, or their PBX had broken. So!!! I called the following day to get a single sheet of paper faxed to the specialist. Surprisingly, it was done immediately. Finding out later that the specialist didn't accept my insurance. SO!!! I called DOC to ask if we can find a new specialist in network, and you will never guess what! I got the answering machine on 3 calls over next 3 business days. Sooooo!!!! I finally get through to the DOC and was PROMISED that correct paperwork would be faxed to specialist directly, which it did not get faxed in and never got faxed in. So... I notified my insurance company and proceeded to fill out complaint that made it to it's destination as things usually do when worked out as planned, a little bit attention, and a kept promise (You know who you are - pick up a dictionary and learn the meanings of the words that are falling out your mouth). So, I filed this review for; wasting my time, extending the duration of my pain for a 6 week period and not even offering a pain med, lack of service, lack of communication, not returning messages, offering out of network specialists, and caring less about how this effects your clients. Go back Customer 101 and refresh your memories on the base skill set required to not piss off your patients. This review will be up on Google, FB and the rest of the social media platforms soon. Called in to make my daughter an appointment and they CS rep was short and very much a struggle the entire call. She was very hard to hear with a baby in the back round and kept muting me or putting me on hold as if I didn't hear all the backround noise, which is understandable but still speak up and be a professional!!! I kept asking her to repeat her self but she just wanted to rush me off the phone. Think her name was Autumn. I hung up the phone not know what the co pay is after she took my insurance information, what doctor I was seeing and or a location address. All she said was to check my email for paperwork to fill out. I pray one day when her child is sick and in pain she gets way better customer service than she provided us! She seemed very bothered that I called in, yet I am the parent in distress. read more

I was not aware that there were urgent care facilities for orthopedic services, but I am certainly glad that this one exists. Horrible pain in the kneecap and I thought it was fractured, so it's nice to get peace of mind after an x-ray. In and out in 45 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I went and saw Dr. Powell on Wednesday for my knee issue. I had to wait about 45 minutes before I could see the doctor even though I had an appointment. The doctor was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I was prescribed 2 pain medications which should have been sent to the pharmacy immediately. It is now Friday and I have called multiple times and am still waiting on my prescriptions. The staff needs to realize the urgency of getting prescriptions sent over on time. read more

Excellent service! Had a nagging injury to the ball of my left foot, thought it might of been serious since it was lingering so long. Went there, within 30 minutes I got checked in, got x-rays taken, and was seen by a great doctor. He was cordial, efficient and knowledgeable! With insurance, I only played $45. Had an appointment on June of 2022, and left paying what I thought was needed to be paid only to have them bill me for another item almost a year later. It was a brace that I was billed for, which they told me was covered as I left the appointment. Unfortunately I had to pay the amount, after all the back and forth with them even though I was blindsided with expenses. They had no empathy over the lack of information that was given to me. I will never deal with them again, but my advice from anyone who seeks services from them, or any other doctors office, is to always get an itemized receipt when you are about to leave your appointment. Reception staff was very friendly & helpful! Called for an appointment last minute and they were able to put us in same day! My son had a very small fracture and wasn't still at all! These girls were very patient and interactive with my toddler which made his experience a lot of fun! Definitely worth the 45 minute drive!! read more

We were referred to DOC by a concierge physician after I severely broke my leg (at time of course I didn't know that) on a late Friday Afternoon 10/27/23. We were in Addison and didn't t arrive because of traffic until exactly 6 pm which is when they close. We called them from cell in car and they stayed open and were with us until 7:30 pm! All of the staff was wonderful. The PA; Jessica MacPhee came into the waiting room and started her physical exam while the receptionist was taking care of the insurance / admission. The X-Ray Technician; Andrew was very quick but thorough. In the exam room Jessica took a picture of my X-ray with my iPhone! The Front Receptionist; Melissa stayed & burned a CD of the X-rays to give to the ER. Jessica actually called the ER to tell them of the Admission. We had to wait for our transport and both Jessica & Michelle waited for them to arrive! I had a successful surgery on that following Monday 10/30th. Thank you DOC !!! I am 64 yrs old, visiting my son from out of state and never in all my years with family members being in & out of clinics, has anyone ever been treated as well as I was by DOC! They are fantastic, I would give them a 100 stars if I could! read more

After communicating my issues to management and then receiving a call from the President of Direct Orthopedic Care, my impression is that this business LACKS REAL CUSTOMER FOCUS AND AWARENESS especially when it concerns the Patient Bill of Rights and financial impact in recovery to patients. I was told in the call that the office would have not allowed me to leave if I had refused a product, opting to purchase one elsewhere. Put simply, I did NOT feel that the care provided was CONSIDERATE and RESPECTFUL to my individual needs and receiving a call from the President of Direct Orthopedic Care was not productive, as aforementioned. For a cash paying customer, they will suck every cent out of you. $350 for first initial visit and $200 every visit afterwards. Really pushy, demanding I have surgery and wouldn't put a cast on. After letting DOC know I wanted a second opinion, they were NOT accommodating with faxing my medical records over. The hospital even called requesting the medical records be sent over STAT and they still refused. This is more of a clinic that milks companies on Worker's Comp cases. read more

All the staffs I encountered at Irving DOC were friendly, very courteous and professional from front desk, x ray, Dr and medical assistant. I received prompt services, went in around my scheduled appointment, very gratefully received help from whoever when needed as I was on crutches. Very efficient and professional. 10 stars to saintly Alexis and Naomi for having to deal with me numerous times on tedious paperworks needed for work and etc on my injury. I'm sure the orthopedics is seeing a drop in business like all other businesses but to disguise this as we are "opening up to ease the pressure on ER's" is completely disingenuous and profiteering at time of crisis. You can advertise, but to jump on this national tragedy and act like your helping in order to funnel business, in the confusing time, is so unethical. Took FIVE xrays of my "broken" toe. Then had me pay $300 for a boot. I declined pain meds, yet when I called back for them, it took 7 days for a return call. At that point, I had gone for a second opinion and I had torn ligament/tendon, not a broken toe. Now - 9 weeks later, I am still waiting on my refund from over-payment on the boot. I have called SEVEN times and only gotten through once, was told check would be delivered in a bout 10 days, that was 33 days ago. No check. No return calls on any other calls and billing department does not return emails. read more

Just walked in and they helped me right away and didn't judge at all for my lack of insurance. The entire building was very modern and clean. thought I finally found a place that really cared. Andrew was awesome when he did the x-rays. Rachael is the one who showed me the x-rays and what was exactly wrong with my knee. I had been to several doctors over the years and none of them could see what was wrong. Finally, somebody cared. And found the problem. No cartilage under my knee cap. That's finally what was causing all of my pain. I cried out of pure happiness that she found it and that she cared. Even gave her a hug I was so happy. She gave me 2 shots, 1 in my knee and the other in my hip. Worked like a charm. No pain that night and none the next morning until after I had been at work for a couple of hours. They set me up to do physical therapy which I was happy to do. They called me in a pain cream. Went to pick it up and it was over $200. I have met my deductible but my insurance didn't cover the cream. I was given a coupon for $25 for the cream. First of all unfortunately I didn't have $25, secondly, why would I pay for something when I've met my deductible so all of my medications are free? All they had to do was give me something that would be free but had no aspirin. I called and asked them to give me something else since I met my deductible that wouldn't cost me anything. All they wanted to give me was an anti inflammatory which would have been fine had I not already told them I can't have anything with aspirin per my cardiologist. ( had a stent about a year ago so I'm on aspirin every day for life). So after waiting at the pharmacy for over an hour for someone to call me back I finally called them. I was told by the girl that answered the phone that they were too busy to call me back basically. She also said they would not give me anything else. She also said that if my cardiologist said nothing with aspirin, I needed to call him and have him give me something. Call my cardiologist to have him give me something for pain in my knee?????? I asked her how much sence that made and her response was "well he's the one putting restrictions on you". Really? So not only was I to suffer with excruciating pain in my knee I was also supposed to suffer more during physical therapy with nothing for the pain. They wanted to give me medication with aspirin even after I told them what my cardiologist said. When I told them too much aspirin will make me sick they basically said that's all we can give you. They did at first give me tylenol 3 which after realizing it didn't work I trashed them. My fault. But to give me nothing else and expect me to do therapy with nothing for pain, when I was already in so much pain, is ridiculous. No I wasn't there for just the pain meds. But I know my body. I know what works and what doesn't. And I know what I can and cannot take due to the stent. I was absolutely heartbroken. I thought I finally found someone that cared and would finally listen to me and fix it. I was so wrong. They turned out to be just like all the other doctors I've been to before. They think they know you better than you do. And they were too busy to return a phone call after I told them I was at the pharmacy right then. I didn't expect one immediately but I did expect one before almost an hour and a half. That's how long I waited before I finally called back and discovered they were too busy. So I canceled my physical therapy appt. Figure if they are going to treat me like every other doctor has in the past, why waste my time. Which is exactly what they did. I was heartbroken. Now I get to start all over looking for someone else who cares enough to listen to me. It's my body. I know better than any doctor. If you have medication restrictions I would advise you not to go here. They want to give you what they want to give you and that's that. If you don't take it, or in my case can't take it, then that's just too bad. They were more than happy to cancel my appt. Doesn't sound like someone that cares to me. Sorry I wasted yours and my time. read more
