Absolutely unacceptable experience. My son received a service here over a year ago, and apparently there was a $50 balance remaining. I never received a bill, statement, phone call, email, or any other notification from this office about the balance. I have also never received a single communication from the collection agency they now claim has the account. To make matters worse, I personally filled out paperwork for my son with my correct phone number, yet today I discovered they have the WRONG phone number on his account. When I explained that I had completed paperwork with the correct information, I was repeatedly told they "don't have" that paperwork. So somewhere along the way, they lost or failed to properly process our paperwork, used incorrect contact information, apparently sent a $50 balance to collections without successfully contacting me, and are now REFUSING TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO MY SON because that $50 remains unpaid. Here's the kicker: I AM TRYING TO PAY IT. They won't take the payment because it's supposedly in collections, I've never heard from the collection agency, and I wasn't given a reasonable way to resolve it during the call. When I questioned how I was supposed to have paid a bill I had never received, the response from the woman on the phone was essentially, "You should have paid your bill." That level of condescension while I was actively trying to fix a problem that appears to involve failures in THEIR recordkeeping was astounding. I understand that bills need to be paid. Had I received a $50 bill, I would have paid it. What I do not accept is being treated like an irresponsible parent when I was never notified of the balance, they aren't even using the contact information I personally provided, they cannot locate the paperwork containing that information, and I am STILL trying to give them the money. I have now requested everything in writing, including the billing history, copies of attempted notices, the contact information they used, information for the collection agency, and an explanation for what happened to the paperwork I completed. A $50 balance should never have turned into this. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with Direct Orthopedic Care. A year and a half after receiving treatment, I suddenly received a voicemail saying I was about to be sent to third-party collections. I had never received a single bill, letter, or phone call prior to this. No warning--just a voicemail threatening collections. When I called to resolve the issue, they told me there had been an error with billing my insurance. I had spoken with them last June about this exact issue and never heard anything back, so I assumed it had been resolved. I asked them to rebill the insurance, and they said no--because it was now past the statute of limitations to bill the insurance company. When I asked why I was never told this, they claimed they had mailed me five letters. I never received any of them. When I said that, they basically accused me of lying. The representative I spoke to was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no willingness to help resolve the issue fairly. It was clear they just wanted to shift blame and be done with it. What's worse is that after reading other reviews, it seems like this kind of billing nightmare is a common issue at this place. Clearly, there's a serious problem with their billing department and overall management. It's a shame because the doctors themselves are great--but the front office and billing staff are awful. Every time I've visited the office, I've encountered rude, unhelpful staff who act like they don't even want to be there. I absolutely do not recommend Direct Orthopedic Care. Unless you want to deal with surprise bills, rude staff, and an office that refuses to take responsibility for their own mistakes--go elsewhere. read more

Visit for injured shoulder. Beautiful office but care bordered on malpractice. No proper resistance checks for damage. Follow-up was no better. No MRI ordered as should have been done to determine extent of injury to determine if surgery was necessary. Now after 8 weeks I am finally getting an MRI, but only after requesting it be ordered. Billing included billing for an elbow X-ray which was never needed as the elbow was just fine. Charged $325.00 for a PA only visit which I feel is excessive. My health care is Medicare with retired American Airlines provided United Health Care PPO, yet billing shows AARP United Health Care. I have finally had to change my Orthopedic provider to get anything done. read more

I was pleased with my experience start to finish with DOC and Allied Orthopaedics. I was referred for a surgical consult to see Dr. Lindner after sustaining a tear in my labrum rock climbing. I was pretty gutted knowing it was going to be a long recovery. Dr. Lindner took great care in explaining my injury, the surgery he would perform, and the different outcomes I could expect. He was very realistic and didn't make outlandish promises, but said he was confident I could get back to the activities I love with surgery and diligent PT. I had a really wonderful experience with all staff members, (front office, nursing, Tracy, Nicole, Sarah, everyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful) and it helped calm my nerves and make the process a lot more enjoyable. A lot of people share horror stories about surgery, but I can honestly say I felt very minimal pain after surgery, had hardly any swelling, and it was so much less traumatic than I was expecting it to be. I can't say enough good things about the staff and clinic and would recommend my friends and family to Dr. Lindner in a heartbeat. Really the only positive thing that I can say is that the service was prompt, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Staff was not rude, but very uninterested and mechanical. I rolled my ankle and come to find out fractured my foot. I was guided around the office in so much pain, no offer of a wheelchair or assistance. I truly could not walk. The provider spent about 3 minutes with me, had very little information or answers and very little guidance. The boot they gave me is about 10 sizes too large and more painful that going without, when I told the technician that she said not to wear it. I felt like the process was one size fits all and I left with more questions than I came in with. It was a quick way to confirm that I really had injured my foot but I don't feel that they really "treated" the injury. Definitely off to see another provider this week. read more

This review is for the clinic off of Eagle Rd How can a medical facility have their phone AND the email systems down for 3 weeks! First time, after a steroid injection for my hip, I remained in excruciating pain and could not contact the office...my wife had to DRIVE in to speak to someone at the front desk. After an MRI follow-up appointment a week later, the doctor claimed he would call in a prescription for pain. FIVE DAYS later, no call to my pharmacy. Attempted to call office...NO ANSWER! Attempted to call the Boise office in desperation...same thing, no answer. HOW IN GODS NAME DO YOU RUN A MEDICAL FACILITY AND HAVE YOUR PHONE/EMAIL DOWN FOR THREE WEEKS!!!!! Next call to my attorney....If you need emergency orthopedic attention, go the the ER...you'll get to see a 'real physician' and not a PA to attend to your problem. Dr Michael Neilson at DOC (Direct Orthopedic Care) took care of me twice when I fell, and I was worried that I had broken my (replaced) knee. After x-rays were taken, he reassured me and gave me a leg brace and good advice on how to get through it quickly. I will be going there again, as my regular orthopedic doctor has retired. read more

Complete joke! I went in for wrist pain. They x-rayed my wrist, found nothing wrong and RX PT and a wrist brace. They had me sign an acknowledgement to be charged $90 for a wrist brace. A month later, I receive my itemized statement from my health insurance and they charged them over $200 for that brace (which mind you is a $25.00 brace from Walgreens). I argued with them that I signed a form saying they would only charge me/insurance $90.00 and I wanted a copy of it because that's not what was told to me. The lady on the phone argued with me and told me that this is how it works, "we charge insurance an over high price knowing they won't pay it all." They should have charged my insurance the $90.00 as disclosed to me and what I signed off and let my insurance go from there. Not a reputable business in my opinion, won't be going there again. read more

My husband has been suffering from hand pain for a few months now and was not able close his hand. We were referred by a friend to a St. Lukes specialist who took an x-ray and refused to give a cortisone shot to relieve the pain. We decided to go to DOC instead of waiting for another referral which we are still waiting for! We were seen immediately by PA Kassandra and she was so knowledgeable and helpful and she listened to my husband instead of brushing him off like St Luke's Dr. She administered a cortisone shot for him then and there and He is doing much better now! Kassandra was wonderful and we highly recommend her with full confidence. Thank you Kassandra for being there for us. You helped my husband to continue to go to work for his family! I went to the new DOC in Meridian off McMillan Rd. Greeted the moment I came in. My knee has been off and on hurting for six months and my primary Dr just has not wanted to take an X-ray or anything. The pain increased this weekend so I thought I would go there. Got in to see them right away at 8:15 am. By 9:15 I had my X-ray and cortisone shot and was out the door. The Dr took time to explain all my choices. I came home feeling relieved. I would not have been able to see my primary Dr for another week. read more

Took my daughter out of network on July 5th for X-rays and a referral for an MRI for an injury that isn't healing. This is also a second opinion. PA ordered additional X-rays and an MRI. It's now July 14th and they have yet to complete our referral for an MRI. I called on Thursday of last week, and again twice on July 13th (yesterday) where the receptionist stated that our case was still "open" and it shouldn't be. She assured me that she would call me back in the afternoon and get this situation resolved.... She did not. I called back @ 4:30 and got the vm service. Today, the office opened at 10:00 and I can't get anyone to answer my call from my cell number and it goes directly to their voicemail service. Absolutely Horrible Service!!! read more

I went to DOC for knee pain. I was given cortisone shots at 2 weeks apart and prescribed physical therapy. After 4 weeks I asked for an MRI. I was told that they had no idea what was causing the pain. End of help for my knee. They did a good job of referring me to the Idaho Spine and Pain clinic for help with arthritis in my back. Dr Zarse from Idaho referred me to an orthopedic dr who finally recognized it was not a knee problem but a hip problem. I feel like DOC should have referred me but PA didnt. read more

Went here today because I was experiencing some foot pain. Staff was super nice! I was in and seeing a PA within 10 minutes. The whole process was quick and stress free! Chelsea (my PA) was very knowledgeable and super nice in answering all my questions. Lola (at the front desk) was also very nice and helped me sked my follow up appointment. My name is Lilly, I am 15 years old and I play soccer. Over the years I have had many injuries and D.O.C. Has always been our go to. However 2 weeks ago when I injured my knee the story changed. If there was a way I could give them zero stars I would. I came in after injuring myself in a soccer game, my knee was swollen, unstable, and barley weight bearing. After waiting for quite some time they called us back and I received a X-ray. I told the PA that I had heard a pop and was concerned about my ACL. He disregarded this saying he was "not concerned about the ACL", and told me I was "To swollen for me to assess your ACL" and "To swollen to recommend you for an MRI." He then diagnosed me with a fractured patella, put me in a straight leg brace and sent me off. After a couple days of pain and frustration, I went into Saint Al's Orthopedic care where they did a very thorough X-ray. My doctor at St. Al's also referred me for an MRI, which by the way is not effected by swelling. I received my MRI results today, I have completely torn my ACL and Meniscus. My patella however has no fracture whatsoever. D.O.C. Completely misdiagnosed me and disregarded what I told them had happened. I will never be going back and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We are definitely getting a 2nd opinion. My son and I saw Tessie McInnally, PA, and based on our experience, I think my son was her first patient. She wasn't able to answer any of our questions without going to ask her 'colleagues'. Our appointment took longer because she had to keep leaving the room to find an answer. We all were learning together it seemed, but unfortunately we left without a clear path for treatment or recovery. We were given the option to 1)ignore the life-altering problem 2)get a shot which doesn't really work or 3)have surgery which generally just postpones the condition coming back. While those might be the only options, I wasn't confident because our PA was relaying information she was getting from...a google search? I can't say for sure because the receptionist had one of the treatments and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. I just didn't trust anything at this appointment. I wish they'd refund my money as I didn't receive the services I paid for. read more

Had knee problem, I saw Arthur Nease PA at DOC and was told I had severe DJD with Patella-femoral disease and received a cortisone injection. I was told this is not a cure and that it is progressing, if the cortisone shot wears off to call and would schedule surgery for Patella replacement. He said no need for MRI as it is very obvious what the problem is. My PCP sent me to a St. Luke's ortho Dr. about a few weeks later. He had the Xrays from DOC sent over as well as doing more. He said I do not have Severe DJD nor do I have Issues with my Patella. He showed me the xrays that were done from him. I told him what was said by the PA from DOC, he then showed me the xrays from DOC and they were completely different from what I saw in the DOC office. I was also told that the injection I received should have never been done as it would not help me. I had an MRI done and I have a torn meniscus and I am scheduled for knee Arthroscopy to repair it and not a replacement surgery as told I was needed. It is my belief that I was mixed up with some other patient and was given false information that was very stressful and an unnecessary injection. I plan on taking this further, but have not received a call back from their clinic as of yet. read more

Reviews for Meridian office. I came in there in April 2021 with medial (along the inside) knee pain x a few months and some mild swelling on the same side of my left my knee. I saw a PA. He took an x-ray. He did not show it to me. I am a nurse. He diagnosed me with arthritis of the knee. I Suspected it could be something else, since there was the swelling, but he assured me no, just arthritis. I endured three painful Hyalgan-type product injections into my knee once per week for three weeks without any improvement. The injections cost about $600 each. Frustrated, I asked him to order an MRI of my knee which showed a medial collateral ligament partial tear. So I referred myself to an orthopedic knee doctor at a different office. A waste of time and money. I hope I have not done my knee permanent damage by unnecessary injections. The moral of the story don't let them talk you into expensive injections as the very first course of treatment. read more
