When I first found Better Life Chiropractic I had been injured and was looking for a readjustment or some kind of treatment. I was stuck in bed with severe nerve pain. Of course this happened on a Friday when I decided I couldn't handle the pain and need to find treatment. Better Life was the only place in the area that was open on a Friday that could fit me in same day, at the time. The responsiveness was great and everyone there seemed very friendly! They did tests and X-rays and made a treatment plan with me. They said I had really good insurance so it shouldn't be too much out of pocket. I met with an amazing Chiropractor who was really interested in not only treating my injury but other areas of my body that couldn't keep up with my active lifestyle. Better Life didn't get the amount of money they wanted out of my insurance so they decided to bill my insurance and bill me out of pocket. Over a $1000 out of pocket alone. But with my injury and having a great chiropractor that was helping, I didn't mind the cost at the time. Even if it was wrong for them to charge me and my insurance, I was getting the help I needed. Then my chiropractor left the business. Without notifying me before my appointment, they put me with a different chiropractor. This chiropractor made unprofessional and unwanted moves at me. Even going as far to put unprofessional comments in my medical chart and touching me inappropriately when not adjusting me. I told the front desk to never book me with this chiropractor again. They did a really good job at that. I didn't tell them why at first because I was in shock that it really happened. Later when I went back to write a formal complaint they assured me he is no longer with the business and they wouldn't be giving me his name or credentials to write a complaint. I moved on because I was almost done with treatment. I got paired with a third chiropractor who wasn't terrible but okay. At least he wasn't inappropriate. When I was notified I was all up to date on my payment plan and I owed no more, I didn't go back. It wasn't until a year later I received a call that they hired a new financial person that went back and changed everyone's past bills because their old hire screwed up. I told them that I was informed I was all paid out and it is illegal for them to do this. They were firm on trying to get a few more hundred dollars out of me. I am a broke college student. In fear of being sent to collections because I worked hard on my credit score and have no late payments, I paid them. I told them to send me a documented receipt that I was all paid out and that they will never be seeing me again. They don't care about you as a patient and your wellbeing. They care about themselves as a company at the cost of you. I was taken advantage of financially and physically at Better Life Chiropractic. I would never recommend to anyone.

Well, over 3 months my sciatic back pain became worse and so I made an appointment for chiro eval and treatment. Dr John Trachsel was my Dr and he did an evaluation and xrays. I began seeing him in April 2x week for traction, adjustments and deep tissue laser treatment. By end of May my pain went from an 8 to an occasional 1. I would NEVER WVER recommend this doctors office to anyone. My husband saw dr shane leavitt who…read moreaccused him of abusing his medication when the reality was that he never abused it he took less than recommended and also had constant issues with getting prescriptions sent to the pharmacy at all. He said it was suspicious that we had to call the office multiple times to have prescriptions sent over after they said it was over TEN TIMES. Then when his PA Dillon advised my husband to up his dose from a 5mg to a 10mg every 4-6 hours they consistently sent the prescription in wrong and only for 5mg. They distinctly made him appear as a drug seeker when he started off saying he didn't want to take the meds at all, then when they recasted him at 4 weeks as planned the doctor said there was 15 prescription sent over and that this would be my husbands final refill and taper down of opiates which we we're completely excited about! We'll two hours later we call the pharmacy and shocker no script sent. We call the doctors office and get a call back from dr leavitt himself saying we had picked up all 15 scripts. Not true at all it was 4 which was exactly what he had prescribed and exactly on time each time never early. Then he discontinued treatment and threatened my husband with being redlined at the pharmacy, I spoke with the pharmacist who knows us very well and recommended reporting him to the board of medicine. Which will be done tomorrow first thing! Oh best part! When he discontinued medication treatment he also refused further treatment for his broken hand/arm. So he left my husband with broken bones and a cast with no doctor for treatment. He also refused to set my husband up with a new doctor or recommend a new doctor for him. He's an awful person. And doctor. Even threatened to punch my husband while putting the cast on. Don't ever let him touch or treat your body he discriminates against people of color and people with tattoos and piercings as well. If I could say anything to Dr. Leavitt communicate with your PA and if you're unable to do that, don't be a doctor. Obviously, your PA is more educated than you are.

And now they expect me to pay the bill of $2,300. I would not recommend these people if they were the only chiropractors in the Treasure Valley. Extremely educated very experienced and professional while showing much care. They were able to find the balance between pushing me towards my limits while knowing when to ease up. I did the prescribed home exercises religiously and my final post op visit to my shoulder surgeon , William Lindburg, MD of Allied Orthopedics at DOC - Meridian, went as well and even better as they have seen. I truly enjoyed going to my regular PT appointments where Cara, my primary PT always greeted me with a smile, questioned me about progress and if I had any issues. She listened carefully and responded accordingly- an excellent communicator besides an AAA+++ DPT. I am truly already missing her, the talented "necessary torture queen" ( meant in a nice way). The front office staff were great to deal with always greeting me with smiles and working with my seemingly regular need to make changes in my appointments due to conflicts that always seemed to come up. In particular was Erin who worked wonders making necessary changes to accommodate me. I couldn't be more satisfied with my complete experiences at Pioneer Sports and Pain Center but wish I could have more appointments because I miss Cara, Dee and Erin and how they treated me. I started getting a headache bc I was left on face for a bit of a long time. I ended up getting up from the bed with stem still on my back to call front desk to tell them I was still on the bed for 20 min and they forgot about me. I did get an apology from the doctor, but nobody else said one thing to me when I was walking out. I was really upset seeing that I was a new patient and this is the way I was treated. I will return though and give them another chance. I do like Dr B and he has done some good work on my neck pain.
