I decided to update my review to add clarification: - We had a representative from the company PHYSICALLY COME TO OUR HOME to take inventory. He spent 1 hour developing a list of our belongings, measuring all "notable items", and then FaceTimed a manager to confirm the estimate offered to us. The estimate was competitive with other offers we had, so we signed. - A few days prior to the move, we were told the rep had made some mysterious "miscalculations," and our estimate was increased by over $1000 before the move even began. - 3 SUB-CONTRACTED MOVERS arrived late, but they were generally polite. After over 50% of our belongings were on the truck and everything else was in boxes outside, the lead mover brought me a list of random dollar values and numbers with no context. He said the rep had "greatly underestimated" the space we would need for the move (despite us selling several pieces of furniture prior to the move). The mover then DOUBLED our bill and told us that we were IMMEDIATELY required to pay DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL DOWN PAYMENT. This concern was NEVER mentioned prior to them packing. - When I asked what would happen if we couldn't pay pay the DOUBLED down payment immediately (an increase of more than $1500), the mover said: "Well - then we will be forced to move your belongings from the truck to the curb, and we will charge you for the labor and materials already spent." He then scribbled some additional random numbers and told us we would be charged $2,500 in fees if we couldn't pay the new down payment . - After demonstrating our frustrations, the mover suddenly started offering us various "deals" if we tipped in cash. More random numbers later, he told us he would "fudge the packing material info" and save us $600 if we paid them $400 in cash. When we attempted to report the blatant scam to a manager at the office, he condoned the behavior and called it "standard practice." So...this likely engaging in tax evasion and fraud...good. - After paying the deposit because we had no choice, the movers essentially refused to put the last 2 pieces of furniture on the truck because they needed to be disassembled (which they knew ahead of time). Please note, disassembly of furniture was included as a service provided as a part of our "full service move." Rather than doing the work, the mover simply said he would cut off $500 from our final bill and left the room. Thankfully, the pieces weren't valuable... - After everything was out the lead mover started pressuring me to post a Yelp and BBB review. Despite saying that I did not wish to write a review, he spent more than 5 minutes pressuring me. I finally agreed so he would stop (and I knew I would simply delete them later). He proceeded to literally stand over my shoulder and told me what to write word for word. When I attempted to add any of my own thoughts, he would say "no no, we want to keep it simple." Honestly, his review looked A LOT like many of the 5 star reviews here. I deleted the reviews as soon as he left...Then, I'm the 48 hours after the move, the LEAD MOVER called me FOUR TIMES to say that he "couldn't help but notice" that my reviews were gone... - After the review, they then walked out to "take a look at the truck." Well, they didn't come back. After 10 minutes, I went outside to check on them. When I got there, they were about to leave without telling me. When I went to ask about a final walkthrough, they said they were "already running behind" and immediately left with me standing on the curb. After going back in, I found that they had failed to pack anything out of two utility closets, the bathroom vanities, or the storage area. I attempted to contact the moving company with no response. In the end, we were forced to donate hundreds of dollars worth of belongings due to negligence or laziness... Please do not use this company. If it were only the movers or a single bad manager, that is one thing; however, this is clearly an incredibly corrupt business from top to bottom. read more

Complex cross country move on a budget When our 84 years old mother needed to move her delicate possessions and lifelong collections from her 3,000 square foot home in So. Carolina to Arizona everyone told us to use a different well- known mover. Being cost- conscious, she chose Direct Relocation Services of Boca Raton. It is now a relief to us that she discovered them. All phone contacts to set up her move and keep us on task to get ready for them were pleasant and encouraging. The whole staff was very experienced but the 6 main people I dealt with now leave lasting impressions on us. The two key people were our intake guy (Jorde) and head packer (Wendy). The other four key people who went beyond the call of duty were Richard, Joseph, Maria and Ross. Jorde prepared us by patiently handling all our mother's many questions and spoke clearly for us to all understand. She owns a lot of unusual things that are breakable and precious to her. He was honest and stuck to his quotes, while offering discounts. He didn't try to minimize how major this move would be, nor did he oversell us. He was a straight shooter. He managed to keep us all calm and focused on only what we needed to think about. He handled all the rest of the details keeping everything and everyone on schedule. With remarkable athletic ease, Wendy wrapped all delicate furniture, China and other breakables while singing and keeping his packing crew positive. We are now unpacked. Not any broken dishes, no damaged furniture. Unbelievable. He was careful but also efficient and supervised the rest of his people to also do a superior job. Leaving her home after 35 years, our mother was emotional and worried. Wendy kept her dancing and laughing through what could have been a traumatic experience. She knew she could trust him. He even helped her pack her overnight bag for the flight home, say goodbye to her upstairs for the last time and helped her down the stairs to catch her ride to the airport. We knew the whole time he had it all under control. His other 4 helpers there all followed his lead and responded to his calm energy. The combo of Jorde's planning, encouragement and directions to us, and Wendy's on-site execution was just the thing! Title: Damaged furniture and poor handling during interstate move This review is about Direct Relocation Services, 4901 NW 17th Way, Suite 605, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. US DOT No. 3000931, MC No. 24036. My move was from Dunwoody, GA to Jupiter, FL. I had a very disappointing experience with Direct Relocation Services during this interstate move. At delivery, once we started seeing damage, the crew told us directly that they had "run out of blankets and boxes." That was given to us as an explanation for why some of the damage occurred. This was especially frustrating because I was charged additional money for boxes, yet several items were moved without proper boxes, blankets, or protection. The driver also told us the truck had items from three houses, that it was packed, and that some damage came from "cramming" items into the truck. We were the last pickup and the last delivery, so our belongings were loaded near the back of the truck and then moved around while the other deliveries were completed first. We had damage to multiple items, including a coffee table, picture frames, sofa, couch beds/beds, kitchen table, floor lamp, nightstand, desk, and a painting. The sofa had broken/clipped legs, corner damage, and grease/dirty marks. The desk looked like it had been dragged and was only wrapped in light plastic with no moving blankets. To the driver's credit, he saw the damage and refused a tip of several hundred dollars because he said he did not feel right taking it based on all the damage. I appreciated that honesty, but the overall move was poorly handled. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Direct Relocation Services. Document everything, take photos before and after, confirm how your items will be protected, and make sure all damage is noted immediately. read more

Our company needed to move some sealed boxes and individual items from our TX office to our IL. Not knowing where to start looking for a TX-based moving firm I decided to use the 'internet power and found a website which contacted six moving firms on my behalf. Within minutes I was telephoned by Mr. Donald, the Manager at 'Direct Relocation Services company'. Realistically I had requested that the collection and delivery could happen after the weekend, but after talking with Donald he said that he could arrange something for today. He added that I would receive a quote for the job within ten minutes. I duly received the quote via email as promised. It transpired that from the total of four companies that supplied quotes, Direct Relocation Services company was the fairest by a large margin and I accepted their offer. This morning I received a call saying that the vehicle was outside the TX office (exactly on time as Donald had promised). I was given an estimated arrival time of 1.00 pm in IL. At 1.00 pm exactly the driver rang to say that he was parking outside our building in IL. The van was clean and branded and the driver wore clothing with the company logo. Our items were delivered to our office and the driver was both efficient and courteous. In today's general climate of somewhat questionable customer service, 'Direct Relocation Services company in my opinion provided exemplary service from beginning to end with the minimum of effort on my part. I would recommend this company to anyone, they truly deserve to succeed. It's not so much what they do that makes them stand apart. read more

finally a company who really really cares! Ugh! I can not believe how smooth this move went! I made the decision in 2016 to leave my hometown in Georgia & start fresh in Florida. Well.. let's just say my move from GA to FL did not work out very well for me (I used a different company which I won't name.) So now, here I am years later.. moving back to Georgia and I was horrified- so terrified- so scared of hiring another moving company but I knew that I just couldn't do it myself. I took my job seriously in making sure I didn't have an experience like last time when I used the other company. I did all the homework, I asked all the questions (definitely too many), I got multiple quotes and at the end of all of my gatherings I decided to go with Direct Relocation Services. Thank you to whatever in this world guided me to this company. I am so happy I found them because this move was the exact opposite of my previous move. The rep over the phone seemed genuine, seemed to actually want to help me. I could straight out tell the movers were experienced. everything was wrapped & packed nicely, efficiently, smart, organized, and safe. But wait- it doesn't end there... IT ALSO WAS DELIVERED IN THE SAME WAY! They unloaded all of my items in my new place. Put my (way too big) bed back together. and they even put my curtains up! I would highly recommend Direct Relocation to anyone who is considering moving. Because of the COVID pandemic, my father finally come to the conclusion that it was time to sell the house in New Hampshire and move to their house in Colorado. During this stressful time, I decided to visit my parents for a month and try to help them out. We spend hours searching through so many moving companies. We came across a few, including Direct Relocation. But, Oh Boy! Am I glad that we decided to move with these guys! Being from a very big city in NYC, I was surprised how efficient and professional the crew was. They sent me a form to fill out, to indicate how many items my parents were planning to transport almost 2,000+ miles away! I was amazed that they could work with our schedule. We set up a day/time to come pick up the items even on their must busy moving season. When the movers came, they counted the items and calculated the price. I think the price was very fair, considering the fact that people were moving and prices were increasing nation-wide. My parents had so many items, I was glad to see that they covered all the furniture with blankets and sometimes multiple blankets if need to avoid any damages. My mother was so astonished to see that the movers secured all of her fragile possessions with extra paper in the moving boxes, so that nothing broke. Do not trust Direct Relocation Services with your move. They are highly unprofessional, completely lack communication, and will hold your deposit hostage after failing to meet their own commitments. I booked them for a specific window. We initially agreed on June 23rd or 24th, and I confirmed a firm date for June 24th. June 24th: They completely failed to show up. No call, no email, no updates. When I tracked them down, they claimed they had "truck issues." June 25th (12:00 PM): They promised to arrive at noon. Again, a total no-show and zero communication. June 25th (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM): They gave a second window for later that afternoon. Once again, they failed to show up and failed to call. Because I had a strict deadline to travel out of state to Maryland on Friday, I called to address this. Instead of an apology or a solution, the supervisor, Diego, was incredibly rude and hostile. He explicitly told me that I just "have to wait," that they couldn't come, and that I could "do whatever I want"--including canceling my out-of-state trip or canceling the service, but that they would not refund my deposit. He literally told me that their failure to show up was "not their issue" and was "my problem." This company does not keep its word, completely disregards its customers' time, and uses predatory tactics to keep deposits for services they fail to render. Avoid Direct Relocation Services at all costs. They are a nightmare to deal with. read more

This company gave me a clear breakdown of all the costs and had different options that fit my budget. They also gave me great tips on how to pack to save money. There were no secret fees. It was obvious that Direct Relocation Services cared about being honest and fair. On moving day, they showed up right on time at 3 PM, ready to work. We walked through my place, and they made sure they knew what to move and if anything needed special handling. These guys were so careful when packing my closet items. I originally had extremely good interactions with this company, they put on a great face. when they came to pick up my items, the price kept adjusting and the moving guy was taking off fees and adding fees which made me extremely uncomfortable. Then the mover asked me to write a positive review on yelp, as stood next to me until it was written. This is my updated review. After my items were picked up, I continued my move and when I eventually ended up at my new house, I called my rep who no longer worked for the company. It was extremely difficult to get an answer on when my stuff was going to arrive. After a month, my items arrived. When the movers arrived with my stuff, it was in an unmarked enterprise truck with two gentleman who could barely communicate with me and they were not in uniforms as was advertised on the website. I kicked them off my property and called the police after they accused me of videotaping them, which I was not. Many items that were individually wrapped in fragile boxes were broken I discovered after I unpacked. I would not recommend using this company to move anything, let alone all of your possessions. I had a last minute move that I needed help with. They were able to accommodate my need by scheduling me for the next day. When they arrived they took extra measures to comply with Covid guidelines. The movers came with all materials necessary, disassembled the furniture, wrapped it in moving blankets and packed all the contents in my entire home into boxes. I was extremely surprised with the quality of their packing skills as they put my fine China into dish boxes and all my clothes into wardrobe boxes. They also made sure to put plastic on the floors in order to avoid dirt or scratches. Upon arrival at my new location, they unloaded everything carefully. Assembled and placed my furniture in the location i asked. (I was extremely undecissive about where I thought I wanted the furniture and they were patient enough to move it around until I was content) Lastly they unpacked all my boxes and placed the items in the proper place. This is the first time I've had a white glove service. So worth it! Husband got home and was in awe that everything was unpacked and the house was perfect. I didn't even break a sweat or nail. The second time, they brought back some stuff and then helped us store the rest in long-term storage. Having strangers come into your house and touch your stuff is one of the most stressful things you can go through, and in both moments in this process, Henry and team were superb at customer service, professionalism, care, and just calm demeanor throughout. The last crew that came this morning, led by Dylan, worked diligently to help us unpack, assemble, and then achieve the almost impossible fit of getting all of our stuff into storage in a way that will help us begin to unpack and give stuff away slowly. They were caring and professional the whole time and clearly knew what they were doing as concerned the actual storing of our furniture. In the end, they managed to get the stuff in place in record time without any hiccups. Moving is exhausting! I had crippling anxiety just thinking about the day of the move, especially since we were moving to a new home. My previous moving experience had been the worst, there were two times with different local companies that I had to sit in the truck and they took over 24 hours to move my one-bedroom apartment and that's with everything already packed! Then they tried to obtain additional money from me. But there was no need to be concerned about Direct Relocation Services. From my initial contact with Lee and his staff, the procedure was simple and I received a competitive fee. Lee and his labor arrived on time and completed everything in 3 hours. I was astounded by their professionalism and speed of work. They were pleasant and informative, and they got things right in place. When we moved into our new home, they did the same quick job and maneuvered furniture through very tiny stairs and entrances. I feel really terrible that there are so many bad reviews on this company, because I can legitimately tell you I had an excellent experience. Jeff took my call and I told him I was moving north by about 4 hours and that I was in the midst of an insurance nightmare. (There was a leak inside my old house and the insurance company sent another company to "manipulate" my things and they had been completely careless, and "packed" only partially what should have been done..) He not only assured me they could take care of anything left unpacked but he also gave me an excellent service when HE HIMSELF came as one of the foremen to do the move! Talk about a first class service. I am not sure what the other negative reviews posted below mine had issues with, but I definitely had a good experience. The owner even called me to see how my experience was. We used Direct Relocation Services for a relatively complicated move where we had belongings going from one location to two new ones. We'd done some research and felt good about our choice because it was in our budget. They were professional, responsive and friendly over the phone and text. They arrived when the said they would on the moving day and got straight to work.  We had everything packed and labeled our own boxes, so they helped us protect and pack our TV's and  large mirrors, some heavy wood furniture, standing desks, lamps, etc. then loaded everything up along with our boxes. They unloaded half the truck at location one took a quick lunch break and then unloaded the rest at location two. They arrived around 10am there was no incidents everything went smoothly just the way I wanted it. The movers made sure we were happy with the service we received. We had no complaints and were grateful for all the hard work they put in to make us smile. Exceptional service! Really friendly, fast and reliable. I moved my one-bedroom apartment and tried Direct Relocation Services for the first time. They were very prompt, arriving promptly at 9am with the truck and all their gear to safely move my stuff. I lived in an old building with a very narrow elevator, so they had to take the sofa down the stairs. Even though it was only three floors up, I felt bad for them, but they if they minded, they didn't show it. All through the move they were very friendly, and good natured. The team even took the time to wrap anything breakable in blankets and secured everything on the truck to ensure it got to its new home safely. These guys unloaded the truck just as efficiently as they loaded it, and nothing was lost or broken! THANK YOU guys for your hard work in moving my stuff -- my life really. I called and spoke Carlos, he was diligent on taking my inventory and giving an accurate and affordable quote. Booked the move from Atlanta, GA to Boynton Beach, FL. Carlos' manager Richard followed up and always made himself available for any questions I had. The movers ended up coming a day a head of schedule which wasn't an issue because they gave me a 24 hour notice. The movers, Jeff and Wendy were incredible. The attention to detail and the professionalism they brought calmed my nerves as this was the first time I hired a company to move me state to state. They wrapped my things so well I didn't have a worry in the world. My HHGs were delivered less than 10 days from pick up and there wasn't a scratch on anything. Not a single glass broke. I recently needed a moving company for a local move from Davie, FL to Welleby, FL. I had 2 bedrooms and a living room worth of stuff. Mike a d Christian showed up backed up a huge moving truck into my tight driveway and got started. I had some unique custom furniture and they used their own tools, disassembled everything and wrapped everything up perfectly. Now I've always moved myself and inevitably always at a minimum banged up my walls and at least scuffed something up. They legit didn't damage a single thing! They were in and out and got my stuff picked up and delivered within a 3 hour time frame. Mike even mounted my TV on my wall. They had more skills than just picking up and moving things! They were reasonably priced and I was thoroughly satisfied with the service they provided.
