First of all....you can read my entire complaint on YELP but the abridged version is.....WORST COMPANY EVER! I put my account on extended vacation mode last 6/24/25 w/DIRECTV rep telling me...."call us when you want to resume". To date 5/5/26 I haven't requested resuming their service & I had accrued a $118.82 credit balance. Today, 5/5/26 I opened a bill for $191.01 as they absconded with my $118.82 credit balance applying it to their 4/26/26 bill of $309.83 that I did NOT authorize! Joy (supervisor & 3rd person I spoke with) claimed they sent me an informing email or letter (she didn't know which) of resuming service". LIE!!! THAT DID NOT HAPPEN! Stupid me, I still had my account set for autopay So they stole $191.01 from my VISA account. 3 reps & 2 hrs later, their supervisor Joy told me I could "smash up their unwanted /NON-WORKING equipment with a sledge hammer if I so choose". So YES, I cancelled DIRECTV today but not before they managed to get another $309.83 out of me for absolutely NOTHING as we haven't used their over-priced service since June 24, 2025! They are THIEVES! Their equipment doesn't even work!! People, BEWARE! Use streaming services, Utube, anything BUT DIRECTV! Tried to call and be considerate to cancel the Direct Tv for my Mother who is 92 and in a rest home with dementia. Told the rep we are selling the house and no longer need the service. Service could not be discontinued without a password created 20 years ago by mother who does not remember it. So it cant be cancelled. We had directv for more than 15 years. It was a good service until AT&T took over. I found a pay preview movie that I didn't order in my list so I called. It took 30 minutes wait then I got disconnected. I got through second time and this incompetent person insisted she didn't see the charge. While I was holding I heard the billing transaction recording clearly listed this charge. I will keep on calling until they explain to me why they can do this charge without my consent. I was a customer for 3 years and I decided to make the switch to Comcast. So Direct TV sends me a return box to ship the equipment back in 7 days. I shipped it back 1/19/17, it is now 4/4/17 and my credit card has been charged $195 for not returning equipment. So I looked up the tracking number to see that it has been delivery pending since 1/31. After being put on hold for 25 min to "look into my account information" I was just passed off to another representative. Another run around. So my next move was to track down the package with Fed Ex. I talked to a customer service representative who tracked down the equipment. IT IS SITTING IN A DIRECT TV WAREHOUSE and apparently hasn't yet been received. I don't know if this is some kind of legal mega corporation game that they play with people or what, but I am currently fighting the charge through my credit card. All of this, and they still have the audacity to call me and try and sell me their packages. After 3 years with extras like HBO, Sunday Ticket, and countless PPV I spent multiple thousands of dollars on their product and they are charging me for equipment I have proof that was sent back. Consistently Horribly Incompetent Lack of so-called Service! Half of the channels in the 200's were distorted & pixilated 11/01/2019. I went through all the self-checks - three times while also calling and going through the customer support phone tree prompts (first attempt the automated system decided to transfer me to a tech support number -- it was out of service). I would give less than 1 if I could. I was lied to about a promotion and charged an extra $195. When I called the billing department I was transferred to 12 different people for over 2 hours. Then I was told a supervisor would call me back, never happened. I called again and finally spoke to a supervisor who told me they had no documentation of me being given that promotion so they can not remove the charge. I was a customer for over 10 years. Three years ago, I called for new services. They sent a man. He was hella late. I got an emergency phone call and had to leave. Before leaving, I told the Direct tv guy that I had to put my trust in him to do what he had to do which was installation and to lock my front door (I had no choice). I came back, my front door was opened. He was no where in sight. I was upset. Short story... This guy urinated in my toilet and didn't flush it. And on top of that, he stole 5 bottles of water. He went in my fridge. The direct tv didn't work. Wrong box for the tv! I made a complaint. About a week later, the guy that did me wrong knocked on my door asking for the direct tv box. I gave it to him. The next day, two Direct tv employees came to install the box. All I know, everything was all wrong again. I called Direct tv to cancel. This whole installation took about a month! NO TV, NO CABLE... But I called XFINITY. It was installed within an hour. Direct tv did damage that I had to pay for. Worst customer service in the history of mankind. Decided to cancel Comcast after listening to the misleading sales pitch that the door-to-door Directv sales people gave me. In a nutshell, I was promised the same services for a cheaper cost. It's been a nightmare. The install guy never showed. Second time, called at the latest possible scheduled time (5pm) saying he was running behind and asked if he could come at 7pm. I said no. 3rd time he showed. No apology, no explanation, no personality. The local Directv office manager, Gilbert, apologized and offered to make my 3rd month of service, free. I accepted. I am in my 5th month of service and I've been charged for service every month. I've called the office numerous times and every time have been told Gilbert just stepped out, or Gilbert is on vacation. They take my name and number but I never hear from anyone. Here's the kicker...my service sucks. Not at all comparable to what I had. I use the guide and the channels I have access to are bolded. The channels I don't have access to are backgrounded and light in color. So I can clearly see which channels I'm NOT getting and it's a ton! I finally called the regional number and the sale rep tried up selling a bigger package with more channels at a cost of $137. But I also want Internet and a landline. I tried bundling with Directv but my neighborhood isn't wired for that so I could only get cable. I kept my internet and phone through Comcast. I am paying $300/month for cable, internet, and phone. The cable is terrible. If I'd have kept my bundle with Comcast, my bill was $200!!! I told the sales rep that they breeched the contract several times and that I want out. I refuse to pay the cancelation fee but I'll take that up separately. So the sales rep asks when I want the Directv shut off. I tell him midnight the next day. What does he do? Cancels it at midnight a day early. Idiots! From the installer, to the local manager, to the sales rep! I've never had the misfortune of doing business with so many incompetent twats. It's cable, people! Not brain surgery! If you're considering switching to Directv...don't!!! Side note-I had directv in the past and was happy with it. It made the decision to switch, easy. This morning I woke to a notification stating my NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV. had been auto renewed. I checked the email and it states that I have until 9/7/19 to cancel and receive a full refund. I have had this service for approx 3-4 years. Direct withdraw so never late. I am not a Direct TV member so this post will not comment on their satellite service. I will only be commenting on the lack of CUSTOMER SERVICE. Once I read the email and followed the direction to cancel I was presented with a confirmation email stating they were in the process of canceling and refunding my money. However this would happen after 5 days. This was not acceptable to me so I proceeded to use the customer service link in the email to find a number to contact the billing department. I spent the next 5 hours on the phone with a minimum of 8 reps and 1 supervisor. None of these employees could help. None of them could see my account. None of them could transfer me to the proper department or employee with the capabilities to access my account. They offered a $74.70 gift card at one point, which would come at the end of my billing cycle. Yet I didn't have a billing cycle because I'm a non Direct Tv customer. I use a mobile app to access the NFLSUNDAYTICKET. The app is provided by Direct TV. The billing on my bank statements say Direct TV. All of the information in the emails and monthly payment confirmations go back to Direct TV. When you google NFLSUNDAYTICKET billing contact, Direct TV and AT&T come up. If you go to NFL.com and want the NFLSUNDAYTICKET you are redirected back to Direct TV. However, after 5 hours of calling the 888-531-5000 customer service number, explaining my situation, being passed around to multiple reps and departments (including AT&T Mobile accounts), and last but not least BEGGING for a supervisor, manager, or the Director of customer service (only to be put on hold for up to 55 mins at a time) I finally came to the conclusion that Directtv isn't concerned with customer service. They are only concerned with Payment from customers. Their employees are not educated on a service they share and provide. They seem to do everything possible to avoid putting a supervisor on the phone. Even after I resorted to rudeness and losing my temper from being on the phone for 4 hours and only going in circles. Just Repeating the situation and my account number. I could provide an account number but they couldn't access much more than the fact that I was paying them. They have no way to see the app accounts at their work stations. They had no information on what department handles the app subscriptions and who could answer my questions. After I begged for a supervisor for two hours one finally makes it to the phone. I immediately asked for the Directors contact info so I could file a formal complaint. The Sup could not give me a name or contact. Yet told me I needed to go online to file this complaint. The Sup told me they couldn't help me with the Direct TV NFLSUNDAYTICKET and could not provide a solution or further information to direct me to the proper authorities. 5 hours on the phone!! All of this recorded. The system or chain of command they seem to implement is....avoid a super.. delay as long as possible....Wait for the angry or unsatisfied customer to disconnect. One rep sat on the phone with me for 1 hr and 12 minutes claiming a supervisor was coming. They never did. Shame on you Directtv AT&T and NFL.Com for allowing this sort of customer service to be so acceptable. It seems so many of your long term customers even end up angry and unsatisfied from all the comments I have read on social media. Please take the time to listen to my recorded calls so you can assure the accuracy of this. Please see how I was polite and Cordial until I was hours into the requests. It's extremely inconsiderate of your company to waste a customers time as you have. I will not be subscribing to the NFL Ticket this year as a result of this. I will never become a customer if Direct TV again, in any fashion,and I am going to end my AT&T cellular service shortly as a result of the confusion as well. Please consider implementing better communication between parties and your employees to streamline your customer service. Also try providing service rather than running away, placing customers on hold for hours, or asking the customer to handle issues them selves. Don't sign up with this company!!! Our upstairs TV lost signal (3 TVs have cable) the other 2 were working just fine. We called Tech Support and they instructed us to turn off the receiver so they can send the signal .... the technician sent the signal to reboot. Well now the main one doesn't start up and the female tech support says "We'll need to send a technician out to take care of it and it's a $99 service fee". We had one box not working which is not our fault ... it's their box ... they instructed us to turn off the receiver now all cable boxes aren't working but we have to pay $99 to get it fixed or pay $9 a month for a protection plan so this doesn't happen. Spent at least one hour every month discussing my bill. Every other month my "promotions ". Seemed to end. Three years ago I was paying for a sports channel I didn't even know I had. (And never watched.). When I asked for a refund of 220 or a little more, I was told I was 3?days too late because I had a deadline up to the 21st of the month. I never got a refund. The last straw was when my bill went from 74 dollars to 120 in one month !!! That's fir basic Tv only !!!! Of course I disconnected , returned all their equipment and now I'm with a company that has so many networks and pay half of what direct Tv was charging me !! Not to mention no more talking on the phone for hours I forgot to mention when I talked to an agent at direct Tv he said if i disconnected he was going to disconnect my UVERSE WiFi also. back in 2002 I got Direct TV, because they had local channels available. I stayed with them until 2012, when they wouldn't give us DVR because we were not new customers. When ATT/U-Verse was merged with DirectTV, we switched back to DTV so we would enjoy the benefit of unlimited data on our ATT phones. Now, DirectTV has no NBC, which is the main station my family watches from waking up until going to bed. We also watch certain things on CBS. We are now entering our third month with no NBC. and we are choosing another satellite provider because we are not about to to the whole football season without NBC and CBS. This company deserves no stars. I had an appointment scheduled 1 week in advance. Our appointment was scheduled for 8am-12pm which is already ridiculous how big of a window that is. Come 12pm their technician still didnt show up. Got them on the phone and they said the appointment was 8am-4pm, even more ridiculous! But wait theres more! After wasting another 3 hours, I get a phone call around 3pm and the representative said they can NOT make it out today because they are too busy! Now we have to reschedule and depending if they have to assign us to a contractor, it might take another 10 days. This is mindblowing and may have to consider taking our business elsewhere read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced in my lifetime. First , everything is outsourced through Manila. We loved DirecTV before AT&T took them over. They came out here for the third time with the wrong work order, each I had read it back to me twice to make sure it was right before I hung up the phone, This after being switched from one department to the other...or "disconnected" Seriously I was on the phone from 8:30 till 10, and not just this day numerous times each time I would call them I knew I was going to have to have an hour to an hour and a half window... Still again, they didn't put the gate code on the work order like I asked them, (and had them confirm more than once) to , so they had to drive all the way back out to the freeway where they had reception to call the call center to get the information that was supposed to be on the work order in the first place. When they finally arrived they said it was going to be $300 more to install our original order because the work order was incorrect and even though they had been the ones who had entered it incorrectly they were going to have to reschedule another week out so that the work order could be correct either that or we could up to pay $400!! Did I mention the installer said they had all the equipment on the truck ready to go ??? It's just one big scam out of desperation of wanting TV, to get you to fork out hundreds of extra dollars instead of having to wait ..after 12 years they would not upgrade our receiver or notify us that it should have been. Our daughter had to come say , "My God why haven't you upgraded your receiver " and then from that point on they gave us nothing but grief. It's all about the almighty dollar my parents were being charged $140 a month and we're not getting any of the services that they were being charged for. They did not even have on demand because the people had told them they didn't have the right ethernet cable with them. That was 5 years ago. DO NOT DEAL WITH DIRECTV!!!! I usually don't go this far to post things like this but they have made me so angry I hope it gets shared all over the world! Please share this!!! What should have been a very simple thing ended up being about 7 hours of frustration and wasted time and now I'm back at the beginning because I told DirectV just to cancel everything. Our RV/travel trailer had a very elaborate satellite dish installed on the roof and it was ready to go with DirectV. Very long story short, it took close to six hours of combined and wasted time being switched from department to department to finally get an account set up and installation set (including a store visit where even the Manager didn't know what to do). Finally, it was supposed to be installed this morning and the RV is out of storage, in the driveway, slide-outs out and ready to go for the installer. He called and had my address as the same street in San Diego and called because he couldn't find the house! I told him we are in Clovis, CA so here I go again with the phone runaround with this incompetent large company (over two hours this morning). Bottom line, in a metropolitan area of over one million people and all the hassle they put me through, no one could help me and they needed to reschedule. No one seemed to care that it wasn't just like a house where you reschedule and they come out to do it. It involves going to storage, getting it all hooked up, bringing it home and hooked up and sliders out. Then reversing it all and back to storage. We went to Costco where girl came to us and told there is offer going on from direct tv. We like the discount program in which they said if you buy internet from us then you will get all Disney channels free. We spent 1 hrs in Costco answering their questions to start process and signed papers. Two days after guy came to start service and stared you cannot have this coz your house is surrounded by trees. I asked him if you can let direct tv know. He stated you call cooperate office or cut ur trees. I said really now I will have to take permission in order to get that service, whydonot you guys explained us in the Costco that if you have trees them we cannot provide service. They came to install cable and internet but only installed the best option the genie which was a $100 installation fee took my tv off the wall broke it and left it off the wall. The technician claims I told him to leave it down and not program it. I have been a Direct TV customer for probably 20 years. Recently their customer service FAILED me horribly not once but twice. Two different service calls (4 hour time slots) were cancelled, not by me and I wasn't notified! I had email and text confirmations of the appointments. I called to get resolution and was met with, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience"; no offer of compensation. I was clearly dissatisfied and they didn't care. I cancelled my service with them. I have Direct TV, not happy with this service. Was told when I was sold the 2 year contract I would receive a 400 dollar signing bonus. They did not commit to the contract. Received only 200 of the 400, and was told that I would have to contact customer service to negotiate the rest. I do not think that this is how good business is to be handled. read more

I had a regional manager cold call me yesterday afternoon. He was very polite and helpful. After the spiel I decided to change services mostly because of money. I texted him later asking for all promises be put in writing. I received a text back to the effect that the installer would have it. I also spoke to him on the phone. This morning after reading the reviews and speaking to friends I decided to keep my TV service as is. After leaving a voice mail I received a return call. Mister nice guy was gone. When I told him I wanted the pending to be removed from my bank account removed he informed me that he'd already dropped the processing fee down from $50. and that his time is valuable. I was told that I would have to call Direct TV to try to get the money. I phoned Direct TV and cancelled my order. I was also able to get the money back. My whole experience has left a bad feeling for this man's hard sell tactics and especially his major attitude change when I asked questions and cancelled. If this is indicative of the salespeople it's quite disturbing. I live in a senior complex and can see others being pushed into questionable actions. I am grateful for the other reviews. AT&T RUINED Direct T.V . I would give zero stars if it was an option. I have been with Direct for about 1 month & I have already had to have 3 service calls. What was once awesome cable is now worse than Comcast. If I could give this company a -5 star rating, I would. Horrible Installer, had "no Time" to help us with the 'On Demand" features, Internet hook-ups etc, like we ordered. Installed the wrong receiver. Added program packages without our consent. Jacked the monthly bill to $179.00 from $65.00. Interrupted our service on a billing mistake on THEIR behalf. We cancelled after 3 months. (Should have gone with Dish or some other Provider). They still want to stick us with a 420.00 early cancellation fee for a product we ordered but they never delivered!! They cancelled channels 24 and 47 CBS and ABC two main channels. Not the consumers problem because they cancel these channels! I cancelled Direct tv as you should horrendously bad service to Satellite service! read more
