When I called to use my plan benefits I was informed that I had been offered the incorrect plan. The customer service representative enrolled me in the premier plan. We I went to file a covered claim I was denied! Direct Tv states the the plan only covers T .V. not laptops, or ipads! When I call Direct Tv to review my plan benefits. I was told that at sign up the representative put in notes that I had a previously damaged device. How did she know that I would file a future claim? Quality is good. Responsive no lag. Until you go to app to remove an add on. I spent 30 minutes trying to remove some worthless movie thing. (Not premium) The app would "mysteriously freeze and then stop working when I hit remove. It did have a review changes button also. But that either didn't respond or again, the app would shut down. Negotiations with Nexstar and Tegna continue to fail. We've been without Fox in small market East Texas for more than a year. Recently NBC was off for several days and now CBS is out for today's SEC Championship Game - Georgia vs Alabama. Of course each party blames the other in the contract negotiation, but my agreement is with AT&T DirecTV - not Tegna or Nexstar. Is DirecTV just biding time financially until they become completely irrelevant due to streaming formats? Surely, there must be hundreds of thousands of disgruntled clients with the same issues. They have the worst customer service tech "help" ever. The "techs" know little to nothing how to help me. The 800-531-5000 is bogus. That # is for "new customers only, goodbye". No other choice was offered. One time I called I was told that I had to call (another phone #) That was also a bogus phone number to help me with my issue. I called a week into a new cycle of my billing cycle to cancel my services with them and instead of charging me for the week I had already used they charged me for the next three weeks. I was given inaccurate information that made me think I was done with them and didn't own them anymore money. After following the troubleshooting instructions on-screen myself, the best they could do was repeat the same process, with the same result. They then offered to send a technician but when I balked at the $99 service charge and threatened to quit, they said someone from Loyalty would contact me, which they did not. CS would not try to get the service charge waived "for security reasons". So here we sit-I had to diagnose my own problem (wire corrosion at the dish) and Loyalty is unreachable while I will be charged a $99 service fee plus unspecified fees for parts and labor? I don't even know where to start on my recent interactions with Direct TV. I have used them at my home in Fire Island for 21 years. Having had a new roof installed this winter..I had the dish taken down (and I stored it) and now need the dish re-installed. Let me just say: They have not shown up for 2 scheduled appointments in the last 3 weeks (and NEVER called to tell me they weren't coming).. I have spoken with no less than 8 different agents from around the world..wherever their office happens to be.. Have gotten follow up calls from 3 different supervisors (One from AT&T) And have spent a total of 6 hours trying to get this resolved. AND I AM STILL AT SQUARE ONE! Of course, they have billed me through all this..(I just stopped auto pay). They now tell me it will be at least 2 weeks before a technician can come out (I am guessing re-connecting the dish will take 20 minutes). It is really hard to believe that a company run like this is still in business. If I ever treated a client like this..my business would have been shut down. read more

DirecTV's Support is abominable. I called them to upgrade my receivers to their whole home Genies, but told them I want to install them myself. I'm not new to technology, and I don't like other people poking around in my wires and connections. Also, I've replaced all of my receivers multiple times, so no biggie, right? When the receivers arrived, I couldn't get them to work. Some simple troubleshooting and Google revealed that the switch in my basement as well as the LNB would need to be replaced in order to work with the new equipment (It would have been nice to know that when I placed the order, but whatever.) I called them and explained the issue, hoping to bypass all the needless troubleshooting on their end and just get a tech scheduled to come do the upgrade. The first person I spoke to had me explain the entire issue twice before explaining that she is in Billing and needs to transfer me to Support. No idea why I got the Billing group when the number came from their website. But whatever. The next person was clearly first line support and was following a script. I explained the exact problem, how I'd come to the conclusion, and provided my switch model, which is CLEARLY not compatible with their SWM technology. I told her I can't get past the first screen because an error message is displayed reading "Cannot detect SWM." Nevertheless, she kept asking me to try things like unplugging the cable, resetting the box, making sure the remote had batteries, etc. Then she said she has to activate it from their end. She asked me to go to the next screen, and I explained for the nth time that I cannot move past the initial screen because the error message prevents it. After about an hour of explaining that IT'S THE DAMNED SWITCH AND LNB, she finally says she's going to send me to their second line support. Second line support did THE EXACT SAME THING she did, so after around another hour of practically screaming "IT'S THE GODDAMNED SWITCH AND F'ING LNB", she finally says, "Sir, we're going to have to get a tech to come look at it. I'll put in a service order for you." FINALLY!! The next morning, the tech showed up and looked at my setup. Within 5 minutes of seeing my boxes, switch and dish, he says, "This isn't a service call, it's an upgrade. You need a new switch and eyeball" (which is what he called the LNB.) Really? I need a new switch and LNB? WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? He then tells me he has to go because it's not a service call, and DirecTV will need to change it to an upgrade. I begged him to stay while I got DirecTV on the phone to fix the issue with the order. He laughed and began doing the necessary work, commenting that he'd be done long before they figured it out on their end. Boy was he right. He completed all the work and I was STILL on the phone with DirecTV for literally three more hours trying to get it straightened out on their side. This complaint is in no way a reflection of the tech; he was fantastic, and offered to help me set anything else up later that day after DirecTV got its act together. But DirecTV Support is so disorganized and clueless it would be laughable if I wasn't forced to deal with them any time I need to fix or upgrade something. read more

Was told as soon as our returned equipment arrived back to DirecTV the credit of $82.35 on our account would be refunded to us within 60 days via a prepaid Mastercard. Today is the 60 th day. DirecTV got their equipment back on May 26. Was told a refund request was made May 28th. Now we're being told that the $82.35 credit on our account was promotional monies credited to the account and an investigation is being done by their financial team ( in a foreign country) as to whether or not we should get our refund at all. Our tv turned itself off and we cannot get it going after many talks with the company and many hours on the phone wi no positive results. We called the company and got tech support but are not able to do what they wanted. We requested a tech person to come and help us. The operator said there would be a month wait! We decided to go with another provider and will be set up in 5 days with a tech. DTV is the biggest joke on the planet, bar none. They do not give a care about the customer of many years. I'm not a Direct TV customer but I spend a lot of time in a house that uses it. I find it difficult and non intuitive. And I'm often asked to "fix" it. Which is hard as I can't even get it to work when it's on. I've had them come to the house to fix things and they say "it's Verizon". Verizon often says "it's direct TV". So I don't know what to think. It got to the point where I had both the Verison and Direct tv people at the house at the same time to get it all working. It was hard. Finally I was able to convince the house to go to TWC. Yes, sometimes more costly, although right now it's $60 a month less. But at least TWC doesn't point at anyone else. Our home was located in SWFl and totally destroyed on 9/28/22 by Hurricane Ian. At that time we had a 79.00 credit with Direct TV. Our service had been placed on vacation status until 12/2/22. At that point we had no phone, no TV, no electricity and actually NO home. Once we got the services back and mail delivery we received a bill from Direct. I made contact with a customer service rep. mid Jan and they said we owed the bill because we didn't cancel on 12/2 and that we would have to pay the entire contract. Direct continues to issue bills, says they didn't understand the IAN issue and that we would have to pay the bill. Why is DirecTV Streams canceling accounts of long-time customers w/ grandfathered plans? They canceled my account when a bank card replacement failed to propagate to them, but not my AT&T account I also pay bill through for both services on same app. Now they claim their hands tied; bad faith, breach of contract. Called their service five times and spent hours on phone. Repeatedly tried to use their app last week, updated my autopay info with AT&T who then transferred me to DirecTV. After AT&T agents explained the situation to DirecTV Stream members, they all claimed that my account had been "canceled", that they "had no option" to "renew" grandfathered plans, and kept trying to get me to accept a clearly lower quality package, despite it still working on my iPad and bedroom TV, but not main room smart tv. After posting about DirecTV Stream's bad-faith response and breach of contract, they asked me to DM them, assuring me they would be able to fix the situation. I told them I reach out the next morning but now had reduced expectations after all the "messaging" I was given by their team. I told them I want my grandfathered package and my account restored. I auto-payed for years and after one error from the bank their team took the first opportunity to cancel my plan.
