There are so many options in NY for good internet and cable but I come from an area in FL (previously NJ and other areas of the US), where Comcast is the only option. So if you're a Comcast customer (as I am NOT and hopefully will NEVER BE AGAIN), here's a tip I just learned after years of frustration trying to call customer service. USE THE CHAT. Xfinity stores are very clean and modern, staffed for the most part by extremely helpful, perpetually enthusiastic employees. However, any encounter with Comcast/Xfinity is borderline schizophrenic. Sure, they'll go out of the way to sell you an extremely attractive cellular plan, undercutting Verizon by fifty of sixty dollars a month. A deal that's almost impossible to resist. Three minutes later if your conversation segues into your cable television plan, their enthusiasm suddenly turns to stone as they quote from a rate card that is apparently inviolate, impossible to navigate and chiseled in stone. Maybe I'm slow but just maybe the key variable here is competition, or the lack thereof. They have no choice but to deal in a cut-throat business like cellular telephony. In cable, they rule the roost as an exclusive provider. Yeah you can stream but for the moment that remains a pain in the azz, so for the time being, they have the upper hand. If you get them, the company policy is to lie, cheat, and double-speak. You will always come away with a sick feeling that you have been screwed. And you have. Horrible service. Call their toll free number. Computer will not connect you to live person but hangs up on you after 10 min. Text them they reply quickly. Yes we raised your rate 10%. WTF for crappy service and customer service? We had their cable tv looked like I was watching on a VHS. Canceled that internet only fine $95 we agree. After 3 months they went up to $105. I had service with Xfinity for 2 years with a direct billing/payment and suddenly without notification or warning my bill almost tripled. I called and they said the special ended and now I had to pay this ridiculous amount for only internet service. They were cordial and found a plan more suitable and said the plan came with two "free" phones; I told them I didn't want the phones and they said they come with the plan so when they arrived, I activated as instructed and stuck them in a drawer. All of a sudden my "free" phones are costing me $32 a month-again without warning. I spent the last hour dealing with these folks getting this resolved. Say you have Disney + and decide to watch it. Well they made us go through the process of subscribing AGAIN when we easily accessed it the previous weekend. TL;DR version: sheer incompetence. internet turned completely off (account deactivated) for no good reason TWICE in one month. Getting it switched back on is an endless chore and aggravation. Longer version: Xfinity is probably the most inept, incompetent internet company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. When you actually reach someone on the phone after getting past their annoying automated voice system, you realize quickly the left hand has no idea what the right is doing. I talked to two CSRs (one was the chatbot and the other a live human being) at the same time. They both gave me different reasons why my connection was suddenly terminated. One was that the previous owner also had Xfinity and it may have glitched their system. The other was that I didn't register my modem with them within 7-10 business days (not true. I immediately activated it upon receipt). After literally one hour of back and forth and being put on hold, the agent said they wouldn't be able to fix my internet for 6 days. Perfect! I work from home through the internet. Sure, I can go without it for nearly a week. Please, waste more of my time. I asked that my installation fee be waived for all of this trouble. They said their manager was out to lunch to approve the request, so I will probably be billed that amount. Then suddenly, the CSR's phone got fuzzy and she claimed she couldn't hear me. She hung up a few moments later. I've never had this level of ineptitude with prior internet companies. Sheer incompetence and it is literally costing me work time. I'm out of patience. I have my own equipment and just for disconnecting the service they charge you $106, even as we went month to month after I have been with them for 3 yrs, OK I agree but this was very upsetting. I was an Xfinity customer for quite a few years. Mainly because there wasn't much choice. All they did was constantly raise prices and cut channels. when I complained there wasn't much they would do. I went to Frontier fiber optic and use smart tv apps now. it's literally 1/3 the price. there no cables or boxes either other then when it first comes in. I called Xfinity to remove the cable from the pole to the house. they made an appointment and blew me off. when I tried to contact them my account was canceled so they said I wasn't recognized as a customer. Xfinity will give you a credit for the interruption of services, and then take it back. Xfinity workers have some type of way where they can monitor what customers are watching. They will take those channels, away and make customers pay the same price. My advice to others customers, is to make sure you are getting all of your channels with the package that you signed up for. FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER!!! These people have no idea what Customer Service means. In most businesses it means doing what you can to make your customer happy and/or satisfied. They set up service appointments for which they'll charge you $40 or so, to fix equipment they own and are renting to you that stops working. The service technicians have the choice of whether or not to come to your door and if they choose not to and you call up, the dispatcher won't send them back under any circumstances. You'll have to set another appointment and take another day off from work. The people on the phone are not able to call the dispatcher; their only method of contact is through "chats" and that provided no relief whatsoever for the customer. If the customer wants to move the issue/problem up the chain of command, there is absolutely no way to do that--there's no one you can call, no one you can email, no one you can even write to. The bottom line is that the technicians who don't want to work are actually in charge. It would be wonderful if they were also in charge of billing so then that would never get done either!!! Customer Service is an oxymoron with this company. Every day for the past three weeks I get an error message on my TV before I can get it to broadcast. Anything. I bought an iPhone earlier this year, could get no one at Xfinity to touch it due to COVID, and I had to set it up myself. This took more effort as I switched from Android to Mac. When you contact Support, it's an exercise in bringing your blood pressure up, dealing with robots until you insist on a real person Agent. If they weren't such a large company, it's a surprise they're still in business. I spoke with Anupam via customer service about a 43 and change charge. I was apparently being charged a cancellation fee I was not told about. He told me it was clearly in the contract twice. I never received a written contract. I will not opt for Xfinity again. I'm selling the house so had to cancel. I was not told I was in a term contract. I was sent an extra piece of equipment I had been paying for and was not reimbursed. I had a 0 balance at cancellation, returned all equipment and had a receipt. We were paying for an internet speed we were no where near getting. Customer service wanted to place blame on the router. Prior to the service, we purchased the router their sales team highly recommended. They later wanted to send out a tech and have us pay but they would "waive " the fee. We thought "why would we have to pay when clearly it is a system error on Xfinity. After a month of service, we switched to Verizon Fios. We are receiving the speed that we are paying for. Turns out the connection xfinity told us to insert the router is outdated and slow. Xfinity could have easily kept us as a customer if they provided positive customer service and troubleshooted the issue. Verizon identified the issue and I didn't ask nor provide information on where we were previous customers at. We are thankful we have a choice in selecting services!!! read more

Went to Xfinity Store in Tallahassee on February 9 to buy three new phones. Research had led us to believe we could trade our phones in for $500.00 rebate each. AFTER we returned all three of our phones to factory settings, Tyler Cheeks told us we were not eligible on two of the phones and there were no phones available for my trade in. We were in the store for a long time. It was not enjoyable. Call me naive but buying new phones should be a lot more fun than we had with Tyler.Eventually Tyler told us our account was eligible for phones that we could enjoy. Tyler came from the stock room with 3 Z Flip 4. He had me answer some credit questions then he activated a phone for my son, then he asked me some more credit questions, then activated my phoned. Then Tyler asked me some more to financial questions and told me that he could NOT give me the third phone that he had in his hand. I asked if there was a problem with my credit, there wasn't. At this point my son had no phone, he had sent all his info to the cloud and Tyler Cheeks refused to hand us the phone he had in his hand. I have been trying for three days to find out why. I spent from 10am Friday to 2pm trying to get my phone number transfer to my son's old phone so that he would have a new phone to leave the state with on Monday. No one was able to make that small change for the first two hours. Why? Then I spent a good amount of time on the phone with Xfinity on Friday asking WHY I was charged for three phones, but I was not allowed to leave the store with three phones. No answer given. I have not received the third phone yet. I have not received any answers yet. To avoid confusion, I have an account with my two sons. I spoke to a customer service rep on Saturday and they assured me they were looking into this. I asked that they make sure that the cctv from in the store is not erased before I am told that there was an inventory shortage and three phones were not available. This company sucks! I can't believe the FCC allows phone companies like Xfinity to stay in business. My story is no different from most of the reviews I've read in this forum. I'm switching service provider, thus leaving Xfinity. I called them a week prior to doing so to ensure my account was in good standing and that I'll begin the clear to port my number and have my phone unlocked to be used with my new service provider. I was given a one-time code to port my number and was promised that my phone would be unlocked then. I went to my new provider and got my number ported, but the phone was still locked. I called and asked why my phone was still locked, at which time I was told that it will be in 24 hours - that never happened, because the previous representative i spoke to never placed a ticket for yhat to take place. This time, I was given a ticket #, and was told to wait 48 hours for the unlock. Of course, 48 hours later, my phone was still locked. Fast forward 7 days later, my phone is still locked after countless hours on calls talking to CS representative at phone centers in the Philippines , and talking to someone in the us is not optional. I ried calling they're headquarters in Philly, still to no avail. I don't know how Verizon associates itself with such a mediocre company, be cause of the il treatment I'm getting here, I considering leaving Verizon too. read more
