Other than a security guy, one of 3 dudes may be there on any given day. One dude looks like Ray Romano. Another looks like Jack Nicholson. The last dude might resemble one of the Jonas Brothers. But what gives this place 5 stars, is the ice cream. Diridon has the widest selection of unusual ice cream in the whole downtown area: more than any other quickie mart, more than any downtown grocery store, and unbelievably, even more than any downtown ice cream store. If you need proof, look at these photos from yesterday. And there was a LOT more there than the what the pictures showed. The Tin Roof Sundae and Green Tea ice creams from the TREAT company were missing this time, but I got some 1020 to substitute. Once upon a time when cavemen roamed the earth, some grocery stores would have many of these wacky flavors on their shelves. But today's grocery stores often say that they have the widest selection of ice cream - but by mostly giving you endless brand variations of strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate ice cream. 1/13/23: Edited to add: I forgot to mention one more thing that sets this store apart from the other stores in downtown: Almost every item is labeled with the price, And almost every item is computer scanned by the cashier. If you have shopped at many of the other convenience stores downtown, you often don't know how much something costs until you take it to the cash register - and because the cashier does not check any price lists when ringing you up, have you noticed that it can seem like the prices you pay for the same items will go up and down depending on who is at the cash register, and how well you are dressed? That does not happen here, because the prices are all marked next to the products, and already in the system. So, 5 star review for Diridon Market. read more

Sunday - 5/1/2022 My neighbors recommended this market and said that George is the nicest & most helpful person. I had to buy milk and was headed to WF but passed the market. I decided to turn around and thought I should go in and get the milk there. I mentioned the comments my neighbors said about his wine selection. George selected two nice bottles of wine. He asked for my budget and went from there. I will definitely go back. There were local people stopping in and out picking up items to enjoy at the nearby park. What a great neighborhood market. Diridon market, is favorite place to buy all the things I shouldn't. The owners are sooooo friendly and I'm happy they are a part of this community. I was having a hard time finding dark chocolate kit kats and i asked if they would stock their shelves with that candy bar next time I went in THEY HAD IT! And have kept it in stock ever since! They have a fantastic selection on beer and everyday things you might need when you don't want to go into a bigger super market. This place is a gem!!! Such a awesome neighborhood Market only a few minutes walk from the Diridon Train station. I went to grab some beers and snacks and to my delight they had an incredible selection of craft beers from all over the Bay Area. They also have an incredible wine selection and all the prices are very reasonable. The best part about this place is the ownership. Marwan and his brother John are 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet. After my 2nd visit every time I went I was greeted by my name. It's customer service at an entire different level. Great service and close to the playground is probably enough for five stars. However if you're a beer nerd this place is absolutely loaded with stuff from Alvarado St., Bare Bottle, etc. I don't think a lot of people expect them to have top tier cans but they absolutely do. I hate giving away a secret but this place is a gem in the neighborhood and if you like beer it's worth coming here (especially because they don't sell out of some super hot cans instantly). The BEST retail experience I've ever had. Marwin and his brother John are class acts. Both are super generous and treat people with dignity and respect. Their customer service is impeccable. My husband and I have visited 3 times and each time they've given us a small token of their appreciation for free (chocolates, some wine, etc). I've lived in the area for about a year now and they have always had great beer available with the best sense of community I've felt in a long time. Tony is the man in this little neighborhood. Quiet and friendly, he stocks Hamm's and always ask how the Sharks are doing even though he never watches them. He carries the other beers too and his market carries the usual ten year old condiments,beans,pickles, and toiletries. But we don't need those things on the way to the Sharks now do we. read more
